Worst place ever. Initially the staff was indifferent to my arrival to check out the reserved vehicle. Finally one man got me checked out after a lot of waiting around. The restroom in the UHaul facility was a health hazard! It was completely disgusting, dirty and there was no toilet paper. The staff actually seemed to be quietly laughing when I or my wife communicated these issues. The truck I rented had completely torn drivers seat, the steering wheel was worn out and very disgusting to even touch. The parking brake release was broken. Total safety hazard: the low beam headlights were extremely dim. Very hard to drive at night, and unsafe. The high beams: driver-side light didn't work at all, and the other point crookedly up at the sky. Totally unusable. The rear view mirrors were impossible to adjust. The staff was completely unresponsive to any comments or suggestions - so first change: new staff. This is the single worst transaction I have ever encountered! read more

I've visited this place twice. It's times there is a line out the door and 1 person working that is very, very slow!

They are happy to charge you fees for their incompetence but if you dare request a refund for erroneous charges in the store, they will shout you down (Anthony) or laugh at you and even threaten to assault you (Charles). Please do yourself a favor and do not use their self storage! I have repeatedly called and get stuck in a looping system with U-Haul. I had one person call me back a female at the store but I've had no resolution and no one is returning my calls. I've sent emails to Joe Greene the manager with no response. So if you want information or you want assistance forget about it! They simply are not there for you I would definitely recommend you find another location. Plus on top of that they say they can't cut locks. If they sell you a lock it's a U-Haul lock and they claim they can't cut it because it's the wrong kind of lock. Interesting... They did not honor an online reservation, and payment, to install a trailer hitch. The General Manager did not offer an explanation, an apology, nor a way to 'make it right.' I'd received this confirmation for my online purchase so I showed up this morning at 7:30: "Thank you for your recent purchase. A U-Haul Hitch Professional will perform the hitch installation on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 7:30 AM." The General Manager said "Did you receive an email from our hitch guy?" No. "We have you in the system for tomorrow." I have an email that says today. "It shows here it's for the 30th". That's two days from today, not tomorrow. I asked for a refund and he processed it. read more

I have rented a small truck or van from this U-Haul 3 times in the past 2 months. They are always friendly and helpful, service was always very fast, with the exception of returning a van late on a Friday afternoon, there was a short wait time. The vans or truck was always very clean, and no mechanical problems, etc.. I will definitely rent from them again ! read more

All I wanted was a trailer hitch. They said it would be easy. Not once was I able to reach anyone by phone without waiting at least ten minutes. And when I did, they weren't the local reps so they couldn't answer my questions and put me on hold again where the whole process was repeated. Each time I needed assistance I had to drive there then wait on line. I made the reservation and was told the part would take approximately three weeks and then I would have to make an appt to have it installed. They on,y do installations on Thursdays. I went across the street to Advance Auto Parts They were super helpful, ordered the correct hitch for my car, and I had it in my hands the NEXT day! I then went to Auto Works who installed it while I waited. Done! All that before I ever got a call back (fat chance) from uhaul with any information about my part. read more

I would give no stars. We had our unit broken into after two months. I had two motorcycles and house hold items in our unit. They didn't get the bikes because I locked the steering so if someone broke in they couldn't just roll them out.so the guys at uhaul didn't meet us down at our unit after the break in or didn't tell us when they could fix the door.also we asked about the camera footage on our unit, they tell us that camera isn't working. Two weeks later uhaul guys still haven't fixed our units door. They are horrible at protecting peoples storage units. Never again will I rent from uhaul of Ithaca. read more

I rented from U-haul of Ithaca on Wednesday...it was a case of I needed a truck kind of in a hurry. They had a 15ft truck available and I picked it up...rental agent was very cordial...no complaints at all. I would recommend them for your needs and, if we need any rental again, we would use them for sure. read more

Absolutely the worst! I have had the worst experience with their self storage facility and every time something is wrong I either get hung up on, an empty promise, or flat out ignored. My storage unit has been paid for and is on auto pay and there has been a lock on it all month and they still have not taken it off. I was promised they would call me about it after waiting on hold for 25minutes and they never called to resolve the solution. Save yourself the headache and don't use their self storage!!! read more

I like this place. I've recently been here to buy packing supplies several times in the past 6 weeks, and I appreciate that they always point out the fact that you can return stuff if you don't use it. They have a wide range of boxes (though they have been out of some occasionally in the past two months) and they seem to go out of their way to offer money-saving solutions. I went recently and the employee pointed out the free boxes that I could take; he very much encouraged me to do so. Five years ago I booked a truck here for a local move and my movers delayed a day, because of weather. I was very surprised at how easily the folks at this U-Haul managed the change for me -- I called, they said "no problem", and that was that. I was very surprised. Most of the time, people write reviews for services (as opposed to restaurants, for example) when they're frustrated by a bad experience. I don't doubt that that happens. I've rented from here for local moves, or when I've needed a truck, several times over the past decade, and I only remember good experiences. So, for what it's worth, I like these guys and will continue to use them. read more

DON'T USE THIS UHAUL LOCATION!!!!! All I can say is trust me, don't use it. The behavior of the employee I interacted with was by far the worst I have ever dealt with in my entire life - and I'm not exaggerating. I made a reservation weeks ago, confirmed in the store yesterday, and then went and did all the paperwork, paid, and they tried to give me a different size truck! They said they did not have my size truck and that there was nothing they could do about it. When I asked what possibly could be done the "manager" literally YELLED at me and said "that is not my problem, go try Budget or Penske - what do you want me to do pull a truck out of my butt?". Actually what I wanted him to do was shove one up it honestly. Mind you, this is a 1000 mile move and we had movers on their way to the house. They told me there was a number of some other "manager" to call, who wouldn't take my calls, then finally answered and told me to call the CEO, he didn't handle this sort of thing. Literally. I wish I could get paid to be that shitty, unprofessional, and rude at my job! Must be nice! Trusted this U-Haul before. But this place is SLOW and ineffective. Ordered trailer hitch a week ago. Online it was scheduled to install on the day before I move. BUT they told me it couldn't happen. The old man was impatient and ironic to me. Very impolite. Talked to the manager. The manager didn't respect their customer at all. They just had no RULES. Pretty sure there will be no business with this U-Haul. I'd rather choose other truck rental companies. read more

Made reservation a week in advance. When I went to pick up the vehicle, they said they did not have the vehicle available. I had my reservation confirmation with me, but they they said a reservation was only a request, not a guarantee to provide a vehicle. Spent a couple hours on the phone to customer service and talked to many rude and insulting people until they finally decided to give me the truck. read more

this is terrible service locations. they are incompetent and unprofessional. they do not answer phones and they don"t let you know that your hitch installations is canceled. i had to go to other location yet they charged my credit card for work they haven"t done. if you don"t want your blood pressure rocketed avoid this location for any cost. read more

When returning the vehicle, around noon on a Saturday, we walked in the building to find 2 other customers in line, waiting for service with no one working in sight. Another customer joined the line after us and the 4 sets of customers waited 15 minutes, no one showed up to assist us. Another customer joined, while one decided to leave. We walked the building and found one person working. He said he was the hitch guy and the counter guy would be with us shortly. 20 minutes later and after another customer joined the line, I asked the hitch guy for assistance of SOME kind! There was no other employee on the premises. The hitch guy checked his cell phone and saw that he missed a text message from his counter employee, saying he'll be back in 20 minutes... which he sent over 30 minutes ago. The hitch guy called the employee and asked where he was. The employee said he was just returning to the premises. The hitch guy proceeded to check our vehicle in, when THE GENERAL MANAGER, Steven Peterson, walked in. He had been the counter employee that was missing. He did not apologize for the wait. He did not care that 6 sets of customers had been standing there for at least 30 minutes with zero customer service. Very poor experience and we will never use that location again. read more

I purchased a U-Haul trailer hitch and wiring harness and had them install it. On the hitch itself, they did a fine job. The wiring harness was a mess. First, they ordered the wrong one. Then, once that was straightened out, they ignored the instructions and instead of running the power wire up to the battery under the hood, they threw away the long shielded wire provided for the purpose and just tapped into a hot wire in the back. Both Volvo and the wiring harness manufacturer say that doing this makes the car's electronics flakey, and guess what - it made the car's electronics flakey. Went back to complain and of course they said what they did was fine. Now I've ordered a second wiring harness online and am having another shop reinstall it. Well, there went a hundred bucks. Don't trust them to follow the instructions on what they sell! read more

This place is a joke. There was several phone calls to the office, and one representative (female) at the Ithaca office was so rude. Uhaul should be assamed that they even hired her. She would not answer any of my questions and wouldn't even let me talk to a manager. After the fifth time calling, I told her that I did not want to speak to her, but her manager. I was a long time customer of U-Haul until today. This is more of a review of U-Haul in general and not this particular location. That being said, this location could have been reasonable and worked with me, but they decided not to, which means I will not be using their service anymore. The scheduling department (a very rude woman) said they will not allow more than 6 hour rentals at the end of the month which is unreasonable I asked to speak to the manager and she said "I am the manager"... right... I'm going to use Budget. Another option Ithaca is Penske (if you are under 24 y/o). read more
