Review for my sister who is not a Yelper: If renting a Uhaul, don't rent from the one at Delta Park! I rented one two weeks ago. The tires low light was on and they tried getting 1/4 tank extra of gas. This morning I get there and they tell me that they don't have a truck available. I showed them my reservations. The guy tells me that it's not available because they can't find the key. After I was not very nice they found a key. The tank is on 1/8th if a tank and the check engine light is on. Went back in and waited for the guy to see what code came up. It said that the ignition can't be found. He said that it shouldn't leave me stranded. read more

Have had only three interactions here with the staff and all left me pulling out my hair. Expect to wait- a long time- and hear "we're short on staff" despite seeing three staff members around doing usually nothing while no one is at the front desk. Very unpleasant check in and out process. It's normal to not get anything but incompetence here. This most recent experience had me walking over glass to get in through the main door as the employee "didn't know his own strength" and shattered somehow an automatic door. How? No clue, but this is just typical for this place. People wre here working a 9-5 and man does it show with the complete lack of respect and communication. read more

I was redirected to a new location and a new time and no guarantee of a truck. Total disruption to our plans. HUGE impact! The most helpful and informative staff I've ever met. Amanda needs a raise for all of the assistance she gave us. I've uhauled cross country several times and most uhaul establishments are mom and pop car dealerships or storage rental lockers that take forever, are creepy, are not ready for you and somehow can't find your reservation. This spot was clean and the staff pulled up my reservation right away. The trailer I ordered was too small for my motorcycle and rest of toys to fit in, which was a big letdown for me, as I had really wanted to haul a smaller trailer. Amanda luckily found that they had one more trailer in the next size up and was able to get it reserved for me to take immediately. She also told me about the discount that my rental gives my family for big chain hotels. We have a 2,500 mile drive through canada to Alaska and 20% off of hotels is going to save us a bunch of money! The discounts were in the fine print, so I would have never seen them had she not pointed them out. This trip could have been a total cluster F, considering my spatial mistake in reserving a too-small unit, but she saved our butt cheeks and gave us the info on Uhaul discounts. I don't think I've had such a great experience at any Uhaul before. Usually it's a bunch of gruff dudes trying to upsell me, and as a lady, I appreciate another woman there. These are the friendliest folks! I got an appointment to install a tow package in less than 24 hours. They honored the labor from a previous install after I totaled my car (the tow was going on my new car) which saved me $$. Eli checked me in, was pleasant and thorough and he got moving quickly. I observed Matthew in the lobby helping customers with a positive and friendly attitude. He helped carry boxes to cars and clearly explained rules on returns and rentals. Really disappointed with this uhaul location. We made an appointment to get a trailer hitch installed, planned our day around the appointment showed up and then we're told that they won't be able to install the hitch because they don't have the part since it's on back order. I'm not upset that the part was unavailable but I am upset with the lack of communication, no call, no email, no text to let us know that we'd need to push the appointment. So okay, they said they'd call and let us know when they got the part in... 3 weeks go by and no update, I called in and they told me "oh yeah we got your part in a while ago and made an appointment for this Tuesday". So they got the part in, didn't call or text and then made an appointment for us with out our consent or scheduling? Nah bro, that's weird and not cool. At this point I've made an appointment elsewhere and was trying to call and cancel to get a refund and they didn't answer on the multiple times we called and I wasn't able to cancel until I got though to a uhaul call center.... This place is great! I was very anxious about an upcoming, urgent move, as I hadn't moved in several years. I rented a storage locker and truck, and had to manage a lot of other moving pieces. The staff, from the front desk folks, to the truck washer, to the actual owner of this location, all helped put me at ease. They were friendly, empathetic, and knowledgeable. The physical storage lockers are clean and safe. The truck I used was basic, but also very clean. I highly recommend! read more

I am so Livid with this location at the moment. We will see tomorrow how they handle the rest of my journey with them oh and it is a journey. I made a reservation to have a hitch installed on my van on Saturday May 1st. I had to clear my only day off that week to drop it off. When I showed up I was told, "oh we dont have the parts for that. They wont arrive until Tuesday". Umm why did not one give me a call or send me an email to let me know this, especially when I paid in advance? Why did I made an apt a week in advance if they could not honor it? I was told to come back on Tuesday. So, I stop back up on tuesday, yesterday, and it takes a while to find the part. Ok, I can understand sorting through parts. So I had work and was not able to be back by the end of their day, which is why I had made the apt for Saturday. They suggested that I leave it with them overnight and they would put it in their garage bay, since it's not the best part of town and it would be safe there. I thought that was a great idea. So I left the van there, walked home and went to work with my car. Afterwork I drive past the UHaul center and I glanced over passing by to see my van sitting out in the parking lot. WTF?!?!?!? It was their idea to lock it in their garage to keep it safe and it was just sitting in the lot. I called customer service who was very nice and they tried to get a hold of the manager but nothing. I wanted to know if the van gets broken into or stolen if they would be liable for the theft or damages since again, it was their idea to lock it up inside at night and then failed to do that. Maybe they thought I was not going to drive by at night and see that they did not lock it up? I was told by the manager at the call center that nothing like this has happened before and they could not give me a strait answer to if they would be liable for their screw ups if the van was damaged or stolen. So what choices am I left with? Leave the van unattended overnight? Stay with the van overnight to keep an eye on it? I chose option C and went to my workshop to grab the extra set of keys to remove the van from their lot. The interesting thing will be later when they go to open shop and realize the van is gone. I WILL be showing up in the morning to ask what happened and to talk with their manager. At the moment I am astronomically livid and hope that they can fix their mistakes tomorrow. Oh to top off this "fun" day, they were not able to install the hitch because they said my muffler was in the way and too rusty to remove. When I said, just cut it off, install the hitch and I would worry about the muffler later, they would not do that either. So... I made an apt and they could not honor it I felt safe leaving it with them since they were going to lock it up over the night and they fucked that up. And the part is not installed. UPDATE: So I woke up to no phone calls from Uhaul that my van was missing from their lot after I broke into it a stole it back last night. When I asked them about it they had no idea the van was missing or that it was supposed to even be there still. Makes me feel safe about leaving your property with them right??? Yesterday the person I talked to on the phone told me they would refund the labor cost since they never installed the part. When I asked about it today I was told, "oh that's not going to fly with me" by the manager. After some discussion that's exact ally what happened. When I asked why my van was left outside when they were the ones who suggested locking it up over night, I was told, "oh we put a different vehicle inside so there was no room for yours". Great. You did not lock it up. You did not even know it was gone and you never did the work you said you would. If I could leave negative stars I would. read more

By far the worst experience from management I have ever seen at uhaul. Been there twice now and there are trucks all over that haven't been cleaned and she doesn't care. I waited for 1 hr for her help but I just decided to walk out. I have multiple friends that have been there and felt with the same thing from that "manager" maybe uhaul should take pride in the people they appoint as managers or leads. After a particularly nasty experience at the St. Johns U-Haul location, this location on Columbia Boulevard was a pleasure to do business with. Every employee here is super helpful, knowledgeable and works efficiently. They were even kind enough to call me when I accidentally left a couple of bags of garbage in the back of the truck, so I wouldn't be charged a cleaning fee. Every vehicle I've rented from them has been clean and well maintained. Overall a great location and I recommend it over other local moving rental companies. read more

My husband and I had our U-Haul boxes stored in San Francisco for a bit over a month, then had the boxes shipped and stored in Portland for less than a month. Our experiences were good up until our boxes got shipped to this location. When we attempted to get in contact to discuss a prorated price for storage of our U-Haul boxes, no one has answered our phone calls or voicemails. We attempted to discuss ahead of time with U-Haul about paying a prorated price for our 3rd month of storage, as we only had our boxes stored for 5 days of that month. All customer service representatives stated that the payment for the 3rd month would need to go through first, and then we would need to get in contact with the manager of this U-Haul location directly to discuss a prorated price. The manager (or any staff) from this location has been completely unresponsive. Even if this was not possible, it would at least be helpful to hear it from a staff member. After also spending hours on the phone trying to fix a mistake someone had made on the phone with our delivery dates (they told the moving company we needed then delivered August 11th, when we really needed them delivered on September 1st??), I've found this experience to be incredibly frustrating. read more

We typically use auto transports 4-5 times a year from around the United States as well as rental trucks, storage, as well as purchasing packing supplies. That said, we have become accustomed to the typical ho-him service by employees at uhaul who otherwise appear to want to be somewhere else. We've become accustomed in general to this level of mediocre service. Imagine our complete amazement when we discovered not only the best customer service we've encourtned at a U-haul location but also the introduction to an otherwise really great person. Dylan not only exceeded our expectations but was able to set aside a current project he was working on to help us with a minor emergency with the trailer hitch attached to our tow vehicle. It was a complicated problem that challenged his years of experience and required "out of the box" thinking to ensure our safety as we continued on our cross country trek. As a company, u-haul should take note of his dedication and skill and attention to detail with the customer service he provided. He would make a great manager or assistant regional trainer where he could help u-haul improve its customer service and branding identity with the employees that he could train. Thank you Dylan for doing an excellent job in helping us and truly caring about what you do in your line of work helping those who don't have your knowledge or skill set. In May I made the mistake of taking my truck here to have them install A new 7 pin plug, replacing the old one that was out dated. The pin they installed never worked. We called asking them to remove it and give us our money back. We were told by the manager that they would not remove the bad plug and would not refund our money, but that the could fix the problem. What a totally joke. Today I took the truck to a well known trailer store and they confirmed it.. the pin was not installed correctly, not even remotely close!! Do yourself a favor and stay clear of Uhaul if you want work done correctly and don't want to waste your hard earned money. read more

An hour after I rented my 10' truck, it wouldn't start as we went to move it closer to the house. This was at 2:30pm---this location refused to replace the truck (which was .5 miles from their location) until they had it looked at from roadside assistance. After 3 different roadside assistant associates coming to look at the vehicle over 4.5 hours, they finally let us replace the truck at 7 pm, after the dump was closed and it became too late to go to Goodwill, costing us an extra day of our time. I had taken the day off work and had lost it---only one person who replaced the truck apologized or showed any empathy, and not even a partial refund was considered, so I had to pay full price. It was ridiculous. We could have driven to pick up the replacement, but they put their bizarre protocol before their customer. It was awful. I'm switching to Penske from now on! read more
