I've used one of their larger competitors before and, while their staff was also great, the big-business practices were not. I went in to rent a storage locker and was greeted by a nice gentlemen named Manny. Had a pleasant conversation, we found a unit that met my needs, he took me to view it and went back down to sign the papers. The next morning I was filling my car with items to put in the locker when my neighbor saw I was loading up my car and asked whatsup? I told him he offered me space in his office for free. To good of a deal to pass up so I drove to his office and unloaded my car. The next day I went into to apologize for all the time wasted with me and was told no problem, since I did not move in, they refunded my rent I had paid and off I went. I hadn't expected a refund, but pleasantly surprised and if things don't work out with my current situation I will be back to rent from them in the future. 5 Star worthy storage. The units are competitively priced, in a strongly secured facility. I feel safe leaving my items here with no worries about safety or security. Requires personal codes to get in and if you don't put yours in and someone accesses your unit than the alarm goes off. What else does one expect from a storage facility? Access available until 10pm. Facility is clean and easy to use + they have a security company patrolling and making everything is secure. The staff here is top notch. Always make sure to take good care of everyone. Above and beyond what you'd expect. The staff take their job seriously and it shows. Gavin, a black belt in most forms of martial arts offers not only extra peace of mind but, he makes sure the coffee machine is in optimal condition. [UPDATE: I was encouraged (see below) on 8/19/23 by Business Manager, Mana C., to reach out to management, which I did on the same day. As of 8/27/23 (over a week later) there has been no acknowledgement or reply.] The employees at this facility work hard & seem genuine about their concern to provide caring service to the customer. Until things go wrong. And things went wrong in my case. The contract the customer signs, not surprisingly, also is extremely unfavorable to the consumer, and for all of these reasons, I urge potential customers to either stay away from this service provider, or exercise extreme caution. Here is what happened to me: The employees offered very favorable deals: If the renter makes a long-term commitment, there can be large discounts (2-3 months' discounts in the rent). I took advantage of these offers and rented spaces. After renting and moving into the 2nd space, I moved out of town. I returned 2 months later to move the rest of my stuff into a 3rd space. At that time I returned for an inspection to my second space, which had been locked & sealed for 2 months. As I came down the hall, I found hundreds of moths flying, & crawling in the hall & even on the wall and door outside of my unit (the kind that eat clothing and other organic textile fibers, and cause expensive damage). The greatest concentration of these moths seemed to originate in the door of a unit directly across the hall, where the majority of these insects were crawling. I carefully crushed with my feet and swept away the bugs, and carefully entered my unit, and did not see any moths inside, but knew it was only a matter of time before they entered, since there is no total seal above and to the sides above. I went to a hardware store and bought a large quantity of mothballs and other repellants, and also traps, which is placed in my unit. I immediately went to management to report the matter. They said they would perform an extermination treatment. I gave them a key to do this. Two months later, I returned and found moths in my unit, and in the traps. Management assured me they were aggressively treating. A month later, there were still moths in my unit. Management does not accept any liability. Their contract specifically says the contents in storage cannot exceed $5,000 in value, so if there is loss or damage, the renter has no recourse. Due to the fact my infested possessions have to go overseas, and must be certified free of infestations, I'm going to have to pay at least $20,000 to a professional remediation company to remove and treat my stuff, to get it certified. And that doesn't include repairs to rugs and leather goods, which I am told may have suffered damage from the moths themselves. Be very cautious and read the contract before renting here. I was left holding the bag with a huge remediation bill to undo the damage caused by Security Public Storage, and they are sitting pretty, and don't care about the harm they have done to me. My stuff was NOT safe here. Will yours be? And if it isn't, are you prepared to accept your losses? read more

Very Clean, well kept Storage Facility. Secure main entrance & access to elevators (both with codes required)! Absolutely NO worries about people getting in that shouldn't be there. They even have push carts for easily moving your items from the car, to the elevator, to your floor! Office Staff are all very friendly & helpful. VERY easy process to get signed up & start storing your items at their facility! They even have specials/discounts from time to time, on storage units to make it more affordable. After finding a $10 fee on my account I called and was informed they cut the lock without notifying me, because "it wasn't latched correctly." With a standard lock I purchased from their establishment, that literally just goes through a metal loop on the door, so I find that hard to believe. Also, this was after 5 months of the unit being untouched. I haven't accessed the unit since September when I left for Texas. Now I have no way to know if my belongings are still locked away and safe, and I'm having to pay to return to Portland just to check that nothing is missing. They have breached contract by cutting my lock without 48 hour written notice. With no reasonable explanation. Also they're wildly expensive. Cant recommend. They refused to credit the $10 fee back and stopped responding to me all together. Website doesnt allow you to pay less than the full amount owed, so they successfully scammed me out of extra money. A wide range of sizes, reasonable prices, oodles of security. I can't imagine what more you would need? I was able to select an indoor and climate-controlled unit, and I got a pretty great price on it, thanks to some deals they were offering. You have to have a passcode to get past the gate and also onto the elevator, so it's extra safe. The staff interactions have all been friendly, too. In terms of storage units, this is a 5-star experience. read more

I have lived in the same apartment for several years and always had my extra stuff in a locked storage cage in the storage room. It was often slightly more than an external storage facility but the convenience was important. A couple of weeks ago this storage locker was brazenly broken into and a significant amount of items of mine were stolen. I therefore pulled the rest of my possessions out of that storage and started the search for an external facility. As I now felt violated and not safe it was important to me to store my things in a place that felt very safe. I looked at online reviews including Yelp and Security Public Storage had good feedback so I decided to go for it. I talked to Ryan and was able to get the size and price I was looking for. He made it all very smooth. Granted I've just moved stuff in but I'm extremely impressed with the obvious multi-level security as well as cleanliness and customer service. The access hours are reasonable as well. I now have some of that lost peace of mind returning. read more

SPS facility in NW Portland is clean and secure. It is a gated facility with cameras all over the places. The units are clean too and the elevators are spacious. Only thing that could use some improvement is the carts. There are 2 carts per elevator and they are not in the best condition. But nonetheless, this is and has been my choice of storage facility in Portland. read more

When I got here I was very happy with the decision I made with picking the location very secure even with the homless the occupied the location I referred 2 freinds to the location witch we both where supposed to get something off our bill nothing wasn't even mentioned , when my family paid my bill second was being lied to not once but multiple times witch costed me get stuck out side over. Night because the security company illegally opened my unit like they had a warrent or was even the police embarrassed me when I went the alarm off after hours my first week so I stayed till one arrived and had the nerve to say he didn't believe I had a unit after I gave him all my info and still didn't believe me why would I wait for you to get there 30 minutes later for me to lie, then then the incident with the two who first off can not bother you while you are in your unit if your minding your business then to lie and say they smell meth them I smell fetnal wait witch one is it cause I do randoms for my cancer Dr to get my meds and I have the results of my test the next day all negative then trespass me from my unit no coat or anything didn't have my wallet so I froze almost to death cause got stranded and couldn't pay my hotel night so I was suck out side I have severe PTSD Asperger's autism anxiety dialectic bipolar and a lot more a lot of these diagnosis didn't come out to ask the military and a lot where cause from it so I'm going to get disrespected like that when I'm paying my bill I'm not at the smallest unit either I'm getting called drug addict saying I live in my unit then I couldn't afford the unit I have and put on my girl I really like wasn't called for gun when I was talking to the manager of the property the next morning we had a talk and understanding saying I was just going to have if you know it was my one and my only warning I get and next time I will automatically put on office hours agree to it it was on my recorded line and I don't have the little 5x5 I have two steps up 5x15 never been late on my bill actually retrieved two of the stolen carts respect full to staff and brought business to the facility and once again not either person got a lil one they got the biggest one available and a 25x buy something but like I said not even noticed but have the one manager saying I'm sorry that it wasn't addressed and couldn't do anything about it to next bill then when I went latter that night my code didn't work Called a bunch of numbers no awnser to someone online saying I was on office hours I was like no I wasn't I talked to the one manager who didn't even tell me he was a manager but had to find out that he was and actually tried to Vanessa's way in trying to work a deal I find it very fishy but I gave him a lot of respect So the next day saying yeah we checked into it and we're going to have to put you on office hours she went over the tapes and she seen it with a couple times you were late and put you on office hours I talk to you about 30 minutes you can call me back you said it wasn't going to be the next time but I was giving my first the final warning you could at least call me back and tell me that so I would have got there earlier but nope they didn't call me back that you call me to ask me about the bill knowing Fthe situation A man couldn't even just let me know but after having him decree to something he got me back on my regular hours and I really appreciate it but then I went to my unit a couple days later I can tell somebody has been in it because it's the things I had set up case that exact reason came up they denied it and I I showed them the truth and they apologize when I picked out the unit I asked for the longest hours so I can open my business again and for cancer treatment at all times and we'll have to 10:00 p.m. was the only one I can find in the area and then I asked her bathrooms and electricity they said electricity to be free on site I offer to pay for it nope not ours are ours locked up electricity boxes in the bathrooms that I didn't even know where available besides in the office I used it twice then I asked about it then bam locked down I was having a manic episode and wanted to leave one day after I paid my bill because I just felt like I was getting targeted with my disabilities can cause me to really lose it but I wanted to move after that and then I said oh well we would have to give no refunds or this and that I was talking about the security guard that I had on camera because I recorded the whole event and I told him I didn't feel safe with my unit all he had to do is walk by and the unit is open above and could cause anything from drugs or something and that could get me kicked out or even worth put in jail the way I think with my disabilities and then getting lied on taking my unit was going to have my back with the proof I had on the cameras but they didn't at first and after I said I was going to leave and all that they put me back on regular read more

The manager is really on top of her game. She is so professional, diligent, accommodating and personable. From what i've heard, this place is much better since she's been on board, but I wasn't renting before that. That said, given the location and absent amenities, this storage facility is overpriced. They have great specials that cut rent in half the first 6 months then prices sky rocket. There are no trash or recycling cans on site. The bathrooms had to be locked and shut down permanently bc of the large homeless population in the area breaking in and using/sleeping in them, and if you're locked out after office hours the odds are your stuck there over night. The office closes at 6. While they're open it feels safe, but once they close it feels unsafe to be there. Homeless camp right across the street. The gate is climbable and if someone tries to climb over and rob you there is no one around to hear or help you. Cameras will catch it but what good is that in the moment? The gate is locked from both sides so if you need to leave suddenly you can't. You have to stop, open your window and type in a long code. This was a safety measure but it's not well thought out. The addition of trackable fobs to this property would make the whole process a lot more streamlined and efficient. Regardless, prices should be cut by at least 30%. I will say that finding a perfect storage unit in Portland is pretty difficult if not impossible. I rather have trust in the manager than amenities and lower rent. read more
