Been here twice and both times had horrible service, I brought 3 propane tanks to be filled, I told him one was empty, one was half full and the third was brand new, while he was filling the 2nd one I asked what the purging process consisted of since they have a sign starting its required and they have a $4.99 fee which i didn't mind. The guy helping me said oh, we dont do that. I then told him why do you have a sign and offer it? He radioed someone who also said they didn't do it. I said ok. Well what is it? The guy said I had to take it to some company to get certified and see if it "purchased it from a right place" I told him its brand new, and I dont get why you offer someone and then not provide the service. He said "look I just work here". That absolutely upset me, I went down the street where I was happily helped and propane was close to $1 cheaper per gallon. read more

I am disappointed that U-Haul Redlands that did not have the Trailer Hitch installation for Chevrolet Traverse. I order the installer and trailer hitch on line on January 3, 2019 and installation on January 9, 2019 when I arrived for my appointment only to find out that don't have the part and could not tell me when the part would be a available. This is disappointing since I had this appointment set up more then 6 days. No effort was made to reassure me that this installation could be done within 24 hours. If the part was unavailable a phone call would be appreciated to inform me. The part and the installation is a Ready paid for. Be cautious when ordering or installation from U-Haul.... read more

Unorganized. I walked in and waited for over 20 mins with 5 other customers before any employee even came inside to acknowledge us. I reserved a van for 10 hours and the employee saw this and explained the process for after hours drop off. When I looked at my final statement, I was charged for an "after hours drop off" AND an extra day rental when I brought the van back the SAME DAY. So I've rented from no less than 5 U Hauls in my time and have received "ok" service. I came to this Redlands store to have a tow hitch installed. On my 1st scheduled appointment, service technician Alex was very friendly, apologized for a bit of a wait time and took my car. Unfortunately the tow hitch was damaged during the shipping and he had to order another hitch. Alex followed up and called me a week later that the new hitch should arrive by that Friday. Unfortunately to schedule an appointment I had to call the 800 number and I'm not going to lie, it was frustrating as all get out. Thankfully General Manager Israel received my email and called me directly from his cell, he was already out of the office on his way home. He gave me his direct contact number so that I wouldn't need to go through the 800 ten minute wait hotline. First thing in the morning, he called and scheduled an appointment for today. My car was ready at the time he said it would be and Israel knows what great customer service is all about! I will definitely return to this store for all my moving, boxing and tow hitching needs. read more

I called to rent a car trailer so I reserved it told them I'll be there is an hour, gave them my card number to reserve it, get there they guy said sorry we can't rent it to you there is someone else that needs to use it longer then you so we will be renting it out to him instead!!! WTF is that! Then about to leave and then the guy runs outside and says nevermind the guy said he doesn't need it. So my bf gets out of the truck and the guy runs back out and says nvm he wants the trailer. Wtf is this shit. So our business is not good enough because we only needed the trailer for 24 hours. I'm seeing fire right now.Then to tell me I need to go to a different location across town. How about one of the workers goes across town pick up the trailer and brings it to me. I don't typically give negative reviews because I don't expect complaints to do any good. However, the service at this location is incredibly poor. I needed to fill propane. I walked in and it took the 2 employees 5 minutes to even acknowledge me. Only one of them was helping someone. Finally, the free guy asked me how he could help...then referred me to the other guy, now done with his customer, who could fill my tanks & would meet me out there. After waiting 10 minutes, I rang the bell, thinking they forgot about me. 5 minutes after that and still being ignored, I gave up. Maybe they don't make a lot on propane sales, but I don't recommend they bother offering the service if they're not going to follow through. read more

This was a terrible experience. I made a reservation on the website which is pretty much worthless and saves no time. I entered all my information on the website. I arrived at the place at the right time (4:56PM). There is one person in front of me. After 15 minutes I get to the counter and they want everything they asked for on the website again and more. She tries to sell me stuff I don't need and things I already rejected on the website. I left that place at 5:38PM. The lady who was helping me (Jessica) took forever. Find a better place to go. Reservation was not available. They called the person who was supposed to turn it but did not even leave a voicemail. I was convinced to update/change my reservation time. When I left the location I seen that there was a reservation guarantee or they'll give you $50. I wish they would have told me that instead of telling me I should change my time. Reserved a trailer via phone with a credit card on March 11, received confirmation email, text stating our trailer would be available for pick up March 18 at 10am. Arrived at Redlands U-Haul at 10am on the 18th. The sales associate told us the trailer wasn't available, transport had issues. So I asked to rent another trailer, sales associate said we have no other trailers. Which there were some at the location but were reserved for others. When we asked what they can do she told us there was nothing they could do for us. I said why weren't we called at all to let us know this? She said, rudely, I just found out when I called right now. So basically they don't double check don't see where their units are and ensure their customers will have a trailer when they arrive. Oh and they treat customers as if it's not U-Haul's problem. So now we are stuck without a trailer to move our daughter to Missouri. Everything all packed up and her apartment is no longer available so she has to be out (understandably not U-Hauls issue but stating our situation). So long story short we had to call U-Haul corporate, because again, the Redlands associate was of absolutely no help, to find a trailer. They have a trailer in Palmdale. So we are now having to drive from Redlands to Palmdale to pick up a trailer that should have been at the Redlands location for us. And no, Redlands U-Haul didn't help at all nor did they offer anything for all of this hassle. Lesson learned, never renting anything from Redlands U-Haul again. read more

This company advertises $20 a day with $1.09 a mile which is fine, so when we picked up the U-Haul truck she asked how many miles I said around 10-20 and we only needed it for about an hour she asked if we wanted their insurance and we said NO we even actually laughed and said we have full coverage anyways so why would I pay the extra $14 to go 10 miles or so. So when I took the truck back I stopped and added $15 in gas which for only driving 11 miles was more than enough. The girl that was working there an hour before was of course not there and they added their own insurance anyways and the kid working said oh well there's nothing I can do about it so when it was all said and done I spent $66 dollars for renting a truck for 1 hour and only 11 miles. screw this company I bet they automatically add insurance even if you say no to everyone who rents to get there extra $14. It's not about the money but just the principal of them trying to rip people off read more

"We have your reservation, but we won't have a truck for you." That was the exact quote the Uhaul reservation agent said to me. This review is more about the reservation system Uhaul uses. I scheduled my truck just over a month in advance, and If I hadn't called 3 days before my pick-up, I never would have known the truck wouldn't have been there. I had a confirmation, and the agent told me I had the reservation, but he also said there would be no truck at that location. I ended up scheduling a different location. I spent just over an hour on the phone cancelling the one reservation and then reserving one at a different location. When I tried to call the location directly, they use some kind of answering service which is useless except for the most basic questions. read more

This is a terribly managed u-haul. The manager is entirely incompetent and will lie to you with every word out of hi mouth. After dropping my car off for a hitch install at 8:30 I was told it would take 3 hours (even though the labor was only an hour an a half. At 11:30, when the vehicle should have been done, I got a call saying that the part they had was damaged and had to pick up a new one in ontario. How could they possibly wait until the vehicle was supposed to be done to discover they had the wrong part? Because they don't know what they are doing there! Furthermore, when they called me at 11:30 they said it would only be another hour to hour and a half. At 2:30 i tried calling 12 times and they wouldnt answer. So i showed up there at 2:45 to see what was going on and found out they weren't even working on the vehicle because they were busy unloading an unexpected delivery. Are you kidding me?!?! You expect me to believe that you don't know when you have a massive delivery expected? I had to stop the manager on the fork lift just to get an update on my car and he had the audacity to tell me he would talk to me when he was done loading. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. They will lie, they will prove their incompetence, and when you try to get an answer from them they will ignore you and be rude. STAY AWAY Update, 3 days after install. After finally taking 10 hours to do a 3 hour job, it turns out that they didnt even finish the job and the wiring does not work at all. Went to another uhaul this morning to pick up a trailer and they couldnt get the lights to work because the wiring harness has no power at all, so I coulnt take the trailer. Needless to say, the fix will dont be done my the morons at Redlands. Again, stay far, far away from the Redlands uhaul. SCARY bad experience. 5 minutes after renting a 20' truck from here, it broke down ON Lugonia Ave and wouldn't start. I had cars n trucks whizzing past me because I didn't even have time to pull over. I was literally stuck in the middle of the street and after I was finally able to get hold of the manager (thank god I grabbed his card), his only suggestion was to GO ONLINE and "submit an online roadside assistance form." Are you kidding me?? Uhaul corporate made it right as fast as they could and 90 minutes later, they got a replacement truck out to me and said my rental was free. DON'T RENT FROM HERE! read more

Not impressed at all. I brought a hitch in to get installed on my car. They scheduled an appointment with me and I dropped off my car. They assured me it would be a 1-2 hour wait. The wait ended up being about 5 hours, with my car being absolutely last in line. There was zero communication throughout the process... Weak. I wasted a bunch of time stopping by in person repeatedly to see if it was done yet. The employees were nonchalant and blatantly ignored me as I was waiting to speak with them, chatting amongst themselves instead. When I finally got their attention, they assured me that it would be done "eventually, we'll call you". Weak. What's worse, is that the phone number to the store is not a direct line but instead puts you in contact with U-Haul general customer service and not the store itself. Basically, you can't actually call the store directly unless they transfer you... When I finally go transferred, they didn't pick up. Weak. FINALLY they didn't even install the hitch correctly. It was mounted a couple degrees off crooked (can't be fixed since you had to drill into the body of the car to install the hitch) and they removed several exhaust mounting bracket bolts and didn't reinstall them, leaving my exhaust hanging unsupported off the bottom of my car and brackets clanging around. I didn't notice this until my tailpipe started burning the plastic on my bumper cover. I ended up having to buy new bolts from the dealer and reinstalling them myself, mostly because I didn't want to deal with these people again. Don't come here if you want your hitch installed professionally. read more

Unprofessional front desk, the lady work upon at the desk doesn't know much how the system works, in result of a long line of wiring, customer ask a question she had to call on phone or call other workers here to help. My time is valuable, I am an attorney working to rent a truck for my law firm my hour rate is 1200 dollars. I waited 40 minutes in line and 30 minutes at the desk to allow her to figure out how the system work. That cost me money, where I could be somewhere else. Train the employee good enough to work up front at the desk. Bad experience. read more

We rented a 10' truck. When we went to pick it up the customer service was good, quick, and we didn't have any problems with the truck the whole day. When we went to return it we were told we were supposed to put back in the gas we used (that wasn't specified when we picked up the truck). And we were charged an additional $17 for 1/8 a tank of gas on top of the standard $1 per mile we were already charged! $96 is definitely not a "good deal" on a moving truck. Next time I'll be looking for a place that tells me everything up front. read more

Extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service this place has. I went in yesterday 11-8-2020 to pick up a small uhaul and returned it today. I was helped by a very rude employee her name is Kathleen I literally only put 7 miles on the truck the whole time I used it and was over charged on the gas. She told me I used a quarter of a tank when I told her I have pictures of the odometer and gas meter she shrugged her shoulders and basically didn't care her tone of voice is extremely unacceptable I will not be returning back to this place and I will not be recommending it to anyone read more

First time I've ever felt the need to leave a review because this place is really that bad. My father, who is 74 years old and retired, reserved a trailer from this location. When he went to pick it up, they refused to let him rent, as he could not provide an an employment phone number or a cell phone number. Let me clarify, my father is RETIRED. He explained this to the staff, but they told him they had to verify his employment phone number... Again, RETIRED. He also doesnt use a cell phone, as many older individuals don't and apparently one of the employees made a rude comment about that. Oddly enough, just two years ago, he rented a truck from this location, and there was zero problem with him providing only one phone number. After this ordeal happened, I called the business and was told I could not speak to the manager, as he was busy. I gave my name, phone number, and concern and was told he would call back within 5 - 10 mins. It's been an hour. This place is a total joke and they're turning away good customers and money. read more

Today however, our reservation was made and confirmed for 8:30 a.m. We also used the express on-line check-in service but still had to wait in a long line with only 1 guy at the counter. Horrible customer service. I was sent to the Fontana location when my reservation was initially for Redlands and when we went there they said our truck was actually in Redlands. Truck was not ready with fuel when it was picked up. Staff felt the need to speak down to me rather than help me. When I returned the truck, staff attempted to overcharge me by $200. When I called customer service I was on hold for 20 minutes and was unable to get my situation resolved after being on the phone for an hour. I would not recommend the Uhaul company. read more

This place is nuts! They charge you WAY OVER the fuel average if you return your rental less than what it should when you rented it. I understand why but charging more than 300%!!! I returned my rental with the fuel line a tenth of where it should be. They had to charge me for it even with just the slightest difference. It would've made sense if the difference was a lot but getting charged too much for 1/10th of where it should is ridiculous. If I go to a gas station to fuel it up, it will prolly need a 5 gallons because it eats gas like a pig. MPG is roughly like 5 MPG (exaggerating). Maybe they need to make their fuel gauge line more detailed so you can see exactly where the line is when you fill it up or make sure you have the calculations written down so you know how much gas to put it to be exact. read more

I will never go to this U Haul again. I use I Haul once a month for pick ups. Literally every time there is an issue and this last time has made it official that I will never use this location again. 1st I made a reservation at least 4 days in advance and I needed a pick up truck. I got my reservation number emailed and text to me I thought I was set . I get to the Redlands U Haul location and I try to get the truck I reserved and they tell me there is not anymore more trucks. They attempted to find a truck for me at another location, but there was none as well so I had to settle for a van. When I asked the associate if I had messed up the reservation some how online, he said that the website overbooked them so I was already pretty upset. He was very friendly so I just let it go. I go to drop the van off today and there is a sign on the door saying "on lunch break 30mins" I thought it was weird that only one person was working knowing that they had so many trucks out and from a business prospective most people try to get as much moving or whatever they need the vehicles for on the weekend and Sunday would be there most busy return day. So I was scheduled to return the van at 2pm I was the 1st person there waiting at the door I was there for the entire 30 mins. By the time they opened the door there were several people waiting. When the door opened I realized that there were 3 associates working!!! So everyone was outside waiting thinking there was just one person working that's why the doors were shut and there were 3 people working and they all had to go to lunch at the same time. That does not sound right to me at all. When I questioned why they all had to go to lunch at the same time the guy said well there are 2 new people working today. Huh interesting well using a managers job to make sure they efficiently train their employees and they can go on lunch but be close enough if there are any questions there are so many things they could have done differently then to lock the door and stop business for them all to go to lunch. Anyways I hate that this was such a terrible experience because I just expect more from such a large business. I recommend if anyone in need of a U Haul they use a different location. I just wanted to note that I do understand that businesses are having a rough time during Covid times but this had nothing to do with Covid what so ever. read more

The day before, I get a call from Uhaul saying that I would need to pick my truck up in San Bernardino and the auto transport in Ontario. This place is shady. They take pictures of your drivers license with personal cell phones and require a 2nd phone number for a relative if you don't have anything but a cell phone. Just look at all the 1-star reviews on here and ask yourself, "Does anything more need be said about U-Haul at 1200 Alabama St. in Redlands, Ca.?" Well, actually, yes! First off, if you plan on dropping into this place to either rent or drop off a truck, pack a lunch, bring a book and a portable folding chair because you will be waiting awhile to get service, and this is absolutely guaranteed! There is NEVER more than two people working at this place, EVER, and the least amount of time you will be waiting in line is 15 minutes, and that is only if there is one person ahead of you in line. If there are two people ahead of you in line, the minimum wait is 30 min, and if there are three people ahead of you, the wait will be at least 45 minutes. In other words, plan on waiting 15 minutes for each person ahead of you in line, as there is only ONE person EVER working the register. If you try and talk to the other employee outside in the lot working, you will get ignored, or be told to wait, wait, wait. I say all this from experience. After the third time experiencing this consistent practice at this U-Haul, I decided never to patronize this place again. I encourage others to do the same. There are far better truck rental places, and the crappy service of U-Haul only opens the door for even more truck rental companies to open up for business and give customers what they want and need. Remember when people used Taxis, then something happened called Uber? Does anyone use taxis anymore? This is where I give the shout-out to Penske and Ryder truck rental companies. They provide far superior service, and the extra time it takes to get to one of these locations makes up for the time you will be waiting in line at U-Haul and the horrible service you will get. In conclusion, plan on a minimum of 45 minutes to an hour to take care of your business at U-Haul at 1200 Alabama St. in Redlands, Ca. Guaranteed, it will be among the shittiest customer service experiences you have endured, or ever will endure. And be forewarned of one other thing: The godforsaken U-Haul at 1200 Alabama St. in Redlands, Ca. is in one of the crappiest locations in the city, traffic-wise. It is at the base of a freeway overpass at the busiest intersection in the city, where traffic is typically backed up for 10-15 minutes in all directions as people are getting off and onto the freeway or jamming into the Citrus Plaza shopping center just up the street. Yes, U-Haul and the area it is located is equivalent to Dante's Ninth Circle of Hell. Enjoy! read more
