It's that time of the year barbecue season and when I went to go check my tank, I was on empty so I was searching around. They have grocery stores that do exchanges but then I saw that U-Haul does propane refill so I went there. Guy was super knowledgeable and very Informative about the difference between filling here versus doing an exchange. The price is actually cheaper doing a refill, I paid about $19 and change versus exchange would've been about like 20+ dollars. Also, I know for sure that when I do an exchange, it isn't filled to the max because when I put it on my scale for my grill. It doesn't go all the way down. Come here to refill your propane! Alvin assisted me secure a small box van to pick up a chair in Carlsbad. Although the outside of the van was really dirty the inside cab and storage area was fine. It had 3/4 of a tank of gas which was fine for my short trip. The GMC drove perfectly and had enough power to get up and down the coastal hills around San Clemente. A few hours later I returned the van with a few gallons more gas than it had when I picked it up. Check out was fast and convenient. I recently had a great experience with U-haul with the installation of my hitch and bike rack. I initially had my hitch installed at another U-haul location in Westmin and the process went smoothly. Unfortunately, the Bike rack receiver didn't fit my hitch(or so I thought) and was trying to buy parts to fit the bike rack on to my hitch. When he asked me when I was returning I said late that afternoon or the next morning. Okay this place makes life so much easier! From the checking out on line to the the return after hours process! I was thrilled that it was this easy! A young man helped us and he was quick and efficient with telling us how everything worked! The only reason I gave 1 star mess was because my account was charged twice for the same transaction. I have visited this location several times to get moving boxes. I didn't have a problem until 6/16/24 when I requested help with figuring out a king size mattress cover. The employee, Yoseth, was rude and arrogant and just walked away from me. So, as I'm exiting the facility there is a sign on the door that says to text manager and gives a number. The other guy who was trying to turn me back at entrance on the other hand made a less than pleasurable experience. He either needs to find a new job or his lack of professionalism needs to be addressed and corrected. May even be the manager, and if that is the case it is a horrible example to other employees, on top of rude service being in the service industry. More details below. I completed all of my reservation early afternoon on the uhaul app, an otherwise seemingly smooth process for a 6:45pm van pick up rental. I knew I may not make it on time due to work so I opted for a 24/7 truck share option for which states I can pick up after working hours. I also left a message in regards to my reservation asking if it's ok if someone can pick it up for me in the case I can't make it on time before they closed and stated that I also opted for 24/7 truck share so I can pick up after hours in case someone getting it for me wasn't an option. Just making sure everything was lined up. Even loaded my Drivers License and credit card information for a quicker process so all I have to do is pick up the key to the van. 5:39pm I called just to make sure everything was good to go. Being on hold the whole communication took about 30 minutes. Spoke with the rep. Everything was set and I was good with my reservation for my van rental so I thought awesome and continued with work. A little after 6pm I checked my phone and and missed a response that came in at 5:52pm for my earlier message I sent in the app regarding after hours pick up, (this was already after I made a call thinking all was set) that vans are not available for after hours pick up but my reservation can be updated to a truck. After seeing that I hauled gas out of work to get there before they closed which was 7pm. I arrived at 6:57pm, and was just happy to make it in time before closing. I walked in at the entrance 6:58pm when this gruntled man was passing by and started asking my questions so I was like oh he works here and thought he was trying to help me. I said I have a reservation, and he responded with there's only 2 minutes left. I replied, yes I made my reservation already online and just need to get it. He responds was it for 6:45pm, and I said yes. Everything about this guy was rude from the second I walked in and just seemed like he wanted me out the door. I understand I was there 13 minutes after 6:45pm, but I was there before closing just to pick up the key for my reservation and hauled gas because it seems there was some miscommunication somewhere on their side and I just wanted to make sure I can get the van. This is me rushing to get to the place out of work, already thinking everything was good to go with the call I had made an hour earlier. Luckily, a woman stepped in and took care of me. She asked me questions in regards to my reservation so she can process it. I told her I already uploaded my ID on the app, and my credit card is already on file. As she helped me, the manager or guy who spoke with authority there came back in to where I stood, just to lecture me as the kind lady was in the midst of processing my rental. With an upset rude tone, he talked about how I should call as a courtesy, and spilled his whole beans how he has family at home too, etc. Then he proceeds to tell me that he won't allow this to happen next time... It seemed to me he was trying to simply call me rude, or has some sort of anger management issue that needs to be addressed. I had no energy for this man's demise so I simply responded OK as I simply just needed the key to my rental so I can get back to work, with my family also at home, so he can go back to his family. I don't know if he was expecting an apology from me, or if he wanted me to give him a cookie for his efforts. I was just there to get the keys. The whole time this man was lecturing me for what ever reasons he believed he had, the lady had almost completed my transaction. All I needed to do was sign as i had done everything on the app and made it prior to closing time. He could have processed my transaction the same length of time he was talking and complaining to me, the customer in this instance. I'm normally easy going, just kind, but I thought I needed to write this review so others could know what to expect or suggest some improvements may need to be in place. Very easy to reserve and pick up at this location. Friendly, informative quick service. Drop off after hours was a nice option as we picked up the truck in the evening. Shout out to all the guys running this place. Came in to rent a vehicle because I was moving to a new house. Explained to the manager (Anthony?) my situation and he hit me with some knowledge on all the sizes of vans and trucks they had on the lot. We came to a precise conclusion as to what I needed to make my move a breeze. My return experience also went as smooth as a baby's bottom. When I pulled up to the lot everyone was busy helping other customers, but one of the employees (Tom?) took time to come over and acknowledge my presence while he was helping another customer! He did a quick assessment of the vehicle and told me I can just leave the keys with him and everything will be taken care of, and sure enough got a receipt through my email 30 minutes later as I was sitting at home. 10/10 would recommend this location to friends and family. read more

*** Be careful of hidden charges *** Reserved online without SafeMove $14. Got a receipt/statement this morning including the SafeMove $14 charge. Looked on Yelp and it looks like this location has the tendency to add on unwanted charges. The truck was at 1/4 tank of gas when received, we called the location to ask how many gallons we should put in to be at 1/4 tank, he said 8 gallons. It turned out to be 1/2 tank which is 1/4 more than what we received. Hate having to call in to dispute charges that I didn't approve of. Waste of time. read more

I highly recommend this U-haul location for its excellent customer service. My fridge broke down a couple weeks ago and I bought a new one. Since I needed it right away I rented an enclosed truck to transport it. Unfortunately, the fridge wouldn't fit in the truck...the truck interior was just short of the height needed to accommodate the refrigerator. I took the truck back, explained what happened and Aaron the manager refunded the total price of the rental! I was so grateful because I am an older widow and he helped me immensely by this act of extreme kindness! I later rented an open utility trailer from this location, a friend hooked it up to his SUV, and we had success moving the fridge. This place is great they have a lot to rent from and you can drop off after hours . The employees are knowledgeable and I called after returning and they were very helpful . The return area needed to be swept up though when I went to pick up the rental and the last parking also . Otherwise everything else was great . Tip if you are returning after hours you need your share location on so it can confirm you are returning in the correct place or you can't go forward. You'll ave to take pics of fuel and mileage and inside of truck so be aware of that. That was a great service and saved me a day of rental and having to try to find a place to park the rental for another night at my complex. read more

I was hesitant to come to an U Haul for a hitch for my truck. I drove to the store to look at and discuss the proper hitch. After talking to Quentin and looking through the store, I decided to give them a try. Upon arrival, I met with Eddie one of the managers. He installed my hitch carefully and was very detailed oriented. He is a true professional. The hitch itself is heavy duty. I know that similar hitches are installed on FJ Cruisers for Toyota.
