Basic truck was okay. Bare minimum as it relates to tech, safety and comfort. It's pretty much self service with an app that is mediocre. I was annoyed with the truck having less than half a tank of gas in it at pick up. After reaching my destination i was sure to return it with same amount and they charged me extra for fuel. I offered video proof of the fuel level of the truck at pick up and was told the app doesn't support video and i i would hear from management in three days. This was about 2 weeks ago. Will seek another company next time I need a truck rental. I suggest anyone reading this does the same. read more

I had a positive experience at this UHaul location. I rented a van for a Saturday so of course they were busy during morning pickup. Pack your patience people! This is a big moving day! Tip, get there early and anticipate a little wait. They are doing what they can to move you through the line. Upload your license and complete you check in online ahead of time. This will save you at least 5 minutes when you get there if not more! Smooth pick up and return process. I returned after hours and just followed the instructions online to document and return. Parking is a bit of a challenge on location, especially on the weekends, but you can park at the Metro North garage around the corner. It's about a 5 minute walk back to the center. read more

Hitch installation on Toyota Highlander went very smoothly! The general manager Laryssa was incredibly communicative, accomodating, and helpful! The hitch to fit my vehicle was backordered, but she kept me informed about when it was available and when I could come in to have it installed. Once it arrived, I scheduled a time and it took only about 25 minutes to have it installed...was able to wait outside (pandemic rules) and drive right off! Now I have a hitch for a bike rack, with a lifetime warranty...Great experience overall. read more

The mobile pickup process was frustrating and problematic. As we later learned, the button to access the padlock code disappears after 30 minutes from the designated pickup time. The app does not explain this and it was not explained during the confirmation phone call prior to the pickup date, so we ended up spending about 30 aggravating minutes trying unsuccessfully on multiple phones to get the padlock code via the app/website. We then had to wait 15 minutes to reach someone on the 24/7 help line, to change the pickup time so that the app would function correctly. Once the app was finally functioning, we still had to jump through several documentation hoops, sending photographs of a driver's license and providing names and phone numbers of additional contacts that U-Haul had to speak with to verify their identity. Rather than providing the option to handle these security processes prior to the pickup, the U-Haul app requires you to be at the physical location of the pickup before any part of the process can be started. There's really no good reason to make customers sit in a parking lot doing this when it could easily be done from the comfort of home in the days leading up to a move. Very poor design choices by the U-Haul mobile development team. Because of these problems, we ended up spending over an hour sitting in the lot next to our U-Haul truck before we were finally able to access the key to start the engine. A truck pickup is not complicated and should not take longer than 15 minutes, but U-Haul's mobile app and systems are so poorly designed that they will inevitably result in frustration and unnecessary wasting of customer's time. Lastly, the furniture pads that I pre-ordered were not included in the truck, and since the pickup location was not an official U-Haul store, there was no one from U-Haul to speak with about the missing pads. If I were to use U-Haul again, l would avoid the mobile app like the plague and insist on picking up/dropping off my truck at an official U-Haul store location inhabited by actual live people. read more

We rented from there twice now. My experience wasn't the same as when I was with my mom when we went the second time. Of course it was raining this weekend when we picked up the van. I was late because of transit situation and I was coming from work so we got there a little later then planed. Young man behind the counter didnt want to do anything. Then he was your not computer incline and I was like well when I was here last week the counter person uploaded my license without insulting me about me not knowing how to do it. Which when I looked later it was uploaded but it was to dark to see. He then proceeded to give us a van with a crack in the window. After my mom walked through two feet of water to get the van. Now everyone that lives in north white plains knows that certain areas flood. They couldn't move the van for pickup. Didn't notify us of crack in window. My mom turned around and went right back to informed him that we didn't do this damage. He wasn't happy about her notifying him about it. My mom was if I didn't return that would've been on my bill. Sadly every place else was booked so we have to come here to pick up van. If you want nice service try to pick up truck or van before 2pm. read more

On May 26th I needed A U haul truck so I made the reservation and went to the facility on Virginia road. I needed to leave my car and I looked for a parking spot in the parking lot. I noticed that there were 2 u-haul trucks parked in the customer parking spot. A man with a ponytail was driving and moving equipment I told him I needed to leave my car he told me I could only leave it in an available parking spot. I told him that 2 u-haul trucks were parked in the customer parking spots. He said there was no place to put those trucks. They were the smallest trucks and I noticed several empty spaces in the parking lot. I asked him if he could put the trucks in the empty spaces so I could leave my car. He said "Those trucks Are staying exactly where they are!" And he drove away I was thinking how rude he was. I drove home left my car and took a Uber to get the truck at Virginia road. That evening I returned the truck and called an Uber to get back home. Why do you have a U haul location piled so full of trucks that the customers who need the truck for a couple of hours can't even leave their car? In addition to paying for the rental I had to pay for and Uber to get the truck when there was plenty of space for them to properly position their vehicles so that customers can leave their car. In addition, they have people coming for storage so they also need a place to park. You should not sell a service that you cannot provide and take care of customers. When I originally rented the truck I had asked for a Dolly. When I found out the Moving man already had one I canceled it. When I went to Return the truck I asked about why I was charged for the hand truck. I did not use the hand truck. When I took the truck it was attached to the back of the truck and I. The woman said she would look into it and then the gentleman from the morning said I had to pay to rent the hand truck because it was there. He said just like you have to pay your rent every month, you have to pay for the hand truck. I was so disgusted I hung up the phone. I had to pay for an Uber to get back-and-forth because the dude with the ponytail refused to move the trucks and told me the trucks parked in the customer space were staying exactly where they were. in the afternoon I had the guy lecturing me on paying rent. I noticed at this location it is a bunch of young kids who are working there. When I return the truck in the evening drove in the lot and I sat there as the workers cleaned the truck in front of me. They ignored me. They could have checked me in but they finished cleaning the truck ahead of mine and moved the truck. I sat there and they ignored me. Then 2 of them walked away. The one nice woman who was inside at the counter came out and asked them where they were going. They said they were going to cvs and get candy. They knew I was a customer they knew that I came to return the truck and they walked away and did not even acknowledge that they saw me. One guy said just leave the truck and we will mail you a receipt then off he went for his skittles. I have returned trucks before and they just leave them running running running burning out the gas and then they tell you you don't have as much gas in there as you had. I knew that They would have left the truck running while they went to CVS to get candy and then who has who knows what they would have done and the receipt that I would have gotten. I demanded that the truck be checked in while I was still there the nice woman told me she would help me and forced one of the rude dudes to help return the truck. Everyone except the nice woman seems to have no training in customer service. I felt like I was at A u haul amusement park where everybody can just do whatever they want to do and the customer is the one who suffers. This company makes too much money to have people untrained and how to deal with people. I saw the manager's name on the door but to me - she can read this review. I've rented trucks from this place twice and both times I had issues. In the first instance, the employee at the desk told me they had no record of my reservation and there was nothing he could do for me, despite me even being able to produce an email confirmation. This guy was super rude and proceeded to argue with me in a raised voice for several minutes before telling me he could just rent me out another truck. Okay dude, why didn't you just say so in the first place? Time number two when I showed up they were able to find my reservation but they didn't have any trucks. The person at the desk explained that whoever rented the truck before me hadn't returned it yet. After about 30 minutes or so of waiting around, they were able to get me connected with a different truck at another facility. Normally, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt on this second time, since technically this was another customer's fault. Really though this was 2 for 2 on not having a truck ready for me when I reserved one, and each time having to go through a ridiculous delay or heated argument just to get the damn truck. This should be a really simple process. The one positive thing that came out of this whole experience is that they hooked me up with a truck at a different U Haul which is only about a mile down the road anyway. It was an off time to rent, so the check out and check in process was quick. The staff was pleasant. a lot of my friends have used UHaul on virginia road on white plains and have encountered a woman named Donna. She is an absolute witch when it comes to customer service, she is rude, hungover and yells at her customers. I am not the only person to say this, I wanted to rent a cargo van to help my BF move some stuff. The worker said that her manager, Donna, said that because my bf was blacklisted in the uhaul database. I as a friend/family couldn't rent a Uhaul (even tho my track record with them is clean). In no way was that a rule, Donna was trying to make it more difficult for us to get his stuff out. so i said bet. I drive down the street and walk into another UHaul and what do I hear? Someone complaining about how hostile and rude this woman is With out even batting an eye i say, are you speaking about Donna? He tells me that he was trying to get a refund and Donna called the cops on him because it was 3 min after hours and she told him to leave and he didn't leave fast enough. So the funny thing here, is that not only does this woman have some sort of superiority complex because she is the manager at uhaul, BUT i'm not even the only one who sees it. Many of my friend have complained about Donnas disgusting behavior. I have seen her scream at my friends, and make fun of customers behind their backs. She is a grouchy old lady that shouldn't never be near any sort of job with customer service. I am angry because Donna decided to categorize me into a box saying 'she won't pay for her merchandise she uses" even tho my track record with uhaul is perfect. 11/10/2018. Moving is one of the MOST stressful times in a persons life. This place totally screwed us. Wish I checked the yelp reviews before we used this place as our pickup location for the uhaul we needed for a move that was happening today. We reserved a 20ft truck over one wk in advance. Got a phone call the day prior to pickup and they said they don't have a 20ft but they can give us a 26 ft with no extra charge. So we said sure. Great. They confirmed we can pick it up the next day at 8 am. Well, 8 am comes and we arrive at this self storage uhaul dealer and there is one worker there on a BUSY Saturday morning. Justin Gonzalez, was working there alone and he is the attendant that UNAPOLOGETICALLY told us "the truck is not back yet". He called the person who currently has the 26 ft truck rented, and is telling the guy "oh the truck needed to be back here last night". He proceeds to argue with the guy on the phone who has our truck and then says well he can come back tonight. NOPE that DOES NOT work for us as we have a tight schedule with movers in two different states coming to assist us with loading and unloading the truck. Justin Gonzalez then offering no other solutions chats with a uhaul rep on the computer and tells us we can get a truck in LONG EFFING ISLAND. When we ask for the manager he gives us her name and number "JAMIE MAPES" and when we ask to speak with her he says "I don't know where she is". ABSOLUTELY VILE AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Convenient location and after hours drop-off were also a big plus. Moving is always a pain in the you know what, but these guys keep it honest. I would never consider using this company again, if I can help it. I reserved a 26 foot truck a week in advance. The day of my move, 40 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the truck (early morning 7:20), someone left me a message to tell me that they don't have the truck. I had already hired people to help me move and was already at the uhaul location when I heard the message. The uhaul employees had no empathy whatsover and did not have any solutions. The only locations that had this size truck were 40 minutes drive away. I decided to take a smaller truck. The company said they would credit me $50 for the inconvenience, which I still haven't seen and don't think is sufficient for the lack of reliability and need for a second mini-move because of the smaller truck. They then charged me an additional $150 under the premise of delivering the truck late, after hours, and without enough gas in the tank. This is absurd. I delivered the truck before closing and was told by one of the employees to leave the keys in the truck, right outside the entrance. I presume he didn't want to go outside to check the truck because it was cold. Not my problem. They then proceeded to say that they didn't see the truck until the morning. I called to dispute and insisted that the supervisor look at the security footage outside to corroborate my story and have yet to hear from anyone. It has been a few days already. This is not for truck rental but for the purchase and installation of a tow hitch on our Volvo XC90. After doing research on hitches we found that a hitch and installation would cost around $300+ ($400+ from the dealer). Uhaul offers an online deal where a new hitch including installation and a lifetime warranty only cost us $192 total! (we did not get the electrical hookup which is an additional $65 or so as we only want to use this for a bike rack). It was done professionally and quickly in about an hour. The hitch looks professionally installed as if it came from the dealer. I highly recommend them for this. read more

Donna & her crew are good people who treat everyone fairly, despite the pressure they have when I've witnessed the occasional impatient customer who walks in with unrealistic demands. I had a storage unit here for a year. The facility is ok. It's not exactly eat-off-the-floor clean, but it's far from filthy. I guess that's what you should expect in a self-storage place. I never had any problems with security, water, pests, or damage of any kind. I did have a bit of issue with the staff. There wasn't any incident in particular, it was more of just general lack of motivation and customer service. On more than one occasion I walked up to the counter and none of the two or three employees present even glanced up from surfing the internet. I have also seen lines four deep at the counter with one employee working while the other two are ignoring the customers. Perhaps those other employees weren't trained in the rental computer system or something, but it's very off putting. I'm sure I have only met a few of the people who work there, but most of the ones that I have interacted with came across as apathetic. I would get another unit here if I needed it because you don't really deal with the employees once you have it set up, but if I had a choice of where to rent a truck, this wouldn't be it. read more

I called in advance to reserve a van for my move and asked them if my temporary license would be ok (since my real license was still in the mail) to rent the van. They said yes it was no problem. I was very specific on the phone with them and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. When I got there they told me I could not rent a van with a temporary license that I needed a full picture ID license (I also brought a picture ID with me but this would not suffice) This left me with an entire apartment full of stuff packed and no way to move it. I had an awful experience trying to have a simple bicycle hitch installed on my wife's 2017 Lexus RX 350. On Sunday 4/8/18 I brought the car to the Virginia road location. Donna the manager took care of us. First she said she could not find the part for the car the she complained about how awful the computer system is and then it ended with Donna saying she will call me the next day Monday 4/9 with information on uhaul putting the hitch in. I did not receive a call as promised and on Wednesday April 11 I called and explained the situation and a gentleman that said Donna will get back to me. Later that day Donna called me and told me uhaul can install the hitch for $218.86 a number I could not possibly make up. I told her great and I would like to proceed with the work and I Scheduled dropping the car off Sunday April 22 with Donna. Donna said the work could not be done on the weekend so I made the appointment to drop off on Sunday 4/22 for work to be done 4/23. I arrived on Sunday 4/22 at about 3 pm. I waited about 15 minutes for Donna to be free. Once she was free I explained why I was there and she could not remember the previous conversations. I explained everything from the beginning and she starts checking the computer. Again she starts complaining about how awful the computer is and she can't find my name. Then she finds my name after about 10 minutes and she tells me I never scheduled an appointment. I told he I did and she proceeds to debate me telling me I did not. I chose to leave the premises because I would not trust this place with anything based on my experience. Customers are talked down to and the location does not live up to or keep record of their appointments. I called Jamie the regional manager and left a message on her cell home. The sign states ever have a problem call Jamie for customer service. A day later no call back from Janie consistent with my overall experience. This is the worst uhaul place ever and Donna the "manager" is even worse. Every single time I have been into this place there is always a problem. This time we reserved 4x8 Uhaul trailer to transport our wedding supplies for our wedding weekend. We arrive and are immediately told by Donna that she doesn't have the trailer and only has a 6x12. That was way too large for us. She did absolutely nothing to help us except tell us she'll cancel our reservation and to call another uhaul place. This has happened numerous times with this women. I don't understand how this women still has a job with U-haul. We've had multiple friends who have had the same issues with her at this location. Unfortunately this is the most convenient location. But after today I will not be going back there and will spread the word to family and friends as well. This women needs some training in what actual customer service is.
