The real concern is that the practice then expects patients to pay a $250 consultation fee just to find out what the service may actually cost. I fully understand that a physician needs to evaluate anatomy, goals, product choice, and treatment planning before giving a final recommendation. But for common self-pay cosmetic injectables, a medical practice should be able to provide baseline pricing, including consultation fees, per-syringe pricing, and realistic treatment ranges before asking someone to pay for a consult. The staff member I spoke with was polite, and this review is not about the doctors' clinical skill. The physicians may be excellent. My concern is with the business policy and the lack of upfront pricing transparency. As someone who has worked in healthcare for many years, I found this approach troubling. Had a great feel about him. I discussed, confirmed and was provided in writing the full cost of my surgery. Feeling comfortable, I scheduled my medically necessary surgery. I had two pre-ops. Cleared my very busy work, childcare, other health appointments schedule for surgery and recovery. I paid a very large sum of money in full ahead of surgery as he requires. Then, 6 days before my surgery, the hospital calls to tell me his staff has made a $5,000+ error on surgery costs. When I asked Dr. Jaibaji about his staff error, he blamed the hospital and told me he would have to do my surgery at the surgical center within his office. His private surgery center building is under full construction right now. It did not feel sterile or comfortable with the dust and dirt and hard hat warnings around the building. On top of the surgery location switch, Dr. Jaibaji wanted to add $3,000 to my surgery. Saying there were additional costs for his surgery center. After providing proof that I was quoted and paid the full amount for all costs, they blamed the extra cost on insurance. Insurance, I was told earlier, would pay "almost nothing" therefore my high cost of surgery was based on the negligible amount I "may get covered" by insurance. When I advocated for myself and continued to produce documents regarding no extra fees, they said they'd bring it down to only $1,600 extra. Telling me that was a deal. Again, there were to be NO EXTRA CHARGES at all. I was getting calls from the staff, from Dr. Jaibaji, saying one thing, then another. In five hours, I got half a dozen calls. All trying to get me to settle for the extra money and the surgery location switch. I was so exhausted and had my whole life scheduled around this medically necessary surgery, I agreed to simply get it all over. Then, and here's the REAL SHOCKER, they call me back again, a few moments after all was supposedly "fixed", and say they are CANCELLING my surgery completely. Finishing with, "where do you want your refund check sent?" I don't know how to express how unbelievable this experience was. I actually feel embarrassed to have trusted Dr. Jaibaji. I'm to blame for that. But the rest of the blame lies with Dr. Jaibaji. Had he been professional, thoughtful or ethical, he would have admitted his staff financial errors and apologized profusely for the stress of this mess only 6 days out from major surgery. He would have helped me to feel safe at his surgery center that is under construction. He would have proceeded with my surgery, taking extra care to help restore my trust. But, he didn't. He was unprofessional, unethical and thoughtless in simply cancelling in order to not take responsibility for the poor management of his practice. in the end, after getting over the shock of it all, I'm thanking my lucky stars that I did not go under the knife with a doctor like this. Imagine how he would have handled any surgical or aftercare issues. Well, we know already. Just cancel. I hope none of you looking at his reviews have to go through this. Choose another doctor. It's not worth the risk. All my best to you all.
