I spent a lot of time researching different options to move our belongings from McHenry County, Illinois to Lexington, Virginia. This included Pods, moving companies, and renting trucks and driving it out. All of these options ranged from $6500 to $12,000. A friend recommended looking into ABF / U-Pack which is what we went with and save thousands of dollars in the process. If you pack it correctly you should be fine getting everything delivered in one piece. We rented out all 28 feet and made sure we got as much as we could in tubs and boxes, and wrapped up the furniture in moving pads. Heavy items went in the front and packed as high as we could as long as the tubs and boxes could handle the load. Every five feet or so we put a wall of mattresses or box springs across from side to side and used ratchet straps that tied into the rails on each side of the truck to tighten everything front to back. When we ran out of mattresses I used two 4x8 sheets of cheap panelling and placed them up against the next layer. I Cinched the straps tight and did not have a single issue with any item in the whole truck. Not one. Very easy people to communicate, and the process was flawless. Everyone here was pretty helpful! Shout out to a driver named Ross who was kind enough to take the time out of his day to help me unload my belongings from my cargo van onto the moving trailer. I will never forget your kindness! Thanks Ross!!!! You saved me quite some time and helped me achieve fewer back aches...! I did experience a bit of a slip up on U-PACK's part when I called to make my first inquiries there. After I scheduled a date to load my trailer, I asked the U-PACK representative if I could load my trailer a day earlier. He said, "sure... they are open 24 hours." Thinking that I could get a head start, I loaded my rental cargo van with the items I wanted to bring to their terminal (40 minutes away from my house), only to be told that they did not have a trailer available for me. Now, this wasn't ABF's fault, but there should have been more communication there. I suggest to always call ABF first to make sure your trailer or relocube(s) are available before you head over to do any loading. Besides that, I am pleased with my experience so far. We recently had long distance move 2200 miles long and can say that U-Pack is the only best option at affordable prize that you get in the market. We used U-pack trailer and 9ft space for almost 2 bedroom full furniture and 20 boxes. At all the stages communication was crisp clear. There was no breakage of a tiny thing. But its our responsibility that how do we arrange/load into the truck. Please Use heavy duty boxes only, ratchet straps, tie down ropes and its all worth in the end. For 2200 miles distance our stuff arrived on the 5th business day just as Upack promised. For similar service and privacy if you go to any well known services like United Van Lines or other big movers they charge you minimum $9-10k. Be aware of movers, moving brokers who provide too low quote at the beginning and then charges you a lot at the time of delivery. We almost did like phd finding moving company n can say in nutshell say NO to whoever provides you quote based on either cubic ft or weight. read more

From initial contact to empty reload-cube pick up the service and experience was world-class. My cube was dropped off for packing within two days of initial contact, the cube arrived ahead of estimated arrival date, delivered for unloading 2 days after arrival, and the empty cube was picked up less than 6 hours after I notified them it was ready for pickup. Everyone associated with UPACK exceeded my expectations. The inside of the cube had connection rails to aid in securing storage material during transit. The cube I was provided did not have any "D" rings which would have been helpful. My material traveled over 4000 miles from Chicago to Honolulu, and nothing was broken. I have had "professional" movers ship my household goods multiple times across America including 4 moves to Hawaii, none of those moves were as gratifying as my UPACK move. I moved out of state and used U-Pak moving cubes. The entire process was seamless, with wonderful communication throughout the entire way. The cubes were dropped off on time and the driver was professional and extremely helpful and friendly. My cubes were delivered in a timely and professional fashion and brought to my new address on time and picked up at the requested time as well. NONE of my belongings were damaged, everything was in tact and not a scratch on anything, nor did it look like anything shifted in transport (I did use some bungee cords inside the cubes). I would HIGHLY recommend U-Pack and would use again if needed. The only drawback I would say is that the cubes are taller than they are long and wide, which took a little finagling packing the cubes, other than that, I am very happy with my experience! read more

we finally made a huge decision to move out of IL and head to savannah GA. moving across half the country was not some we've ever done. and putting ALL or belongings into the hands of someone else was not a comfort being OCD and a control freak. and to top things off prices have been high. BUT U-Pack made this SUPER EASY. We got to use as much of the trailer as we needed. Which was more than we expected. And we determined days for drop off and pick up. we got to pack everything as we wanted to make sure certain things didn't end up crushed or broken. Then we knew exactly where the truck was along the trip. We've used U-Pack twice for cross-country moving. The last time we used them, we moved from SC to Illinois and had our trailer in storage for a couple months. When we got our trailer, we found water got into the plastic we used to wrap our mattress. I called right away and the customer service rep sent me all the claim paperwork right away. And in a few days, we were notified that the refund would cover the value of our mattress (Ps, it goes by weight). And it only took a week to receive the check in the mail. But besides that. U-Pack was a tremendous option for my move from Chicago to Houston. I appreciated the professionalism and friendliness of everyone I dealt with. I did not use the pod - but used the space in a trailer. My belongings were completely untouched and safe. I used 12 ft of space for a 2 bedroom condo (no appliances). I highly recommend this as an option to either the expense of hiring movers or the stress of driving a rental truck myself. We had plenty of time at both ends to pack and to unpack. I thought they were very professional, efficient and made moving very easy. They were very accommodating as to where and how I wanted the unit located at the my old residence and new residence. They kept me informed of the process the entire time and I was able to track the transit progress of the unit. The one hour call from the driver for delivery and pick-up was accurate.
