But as is the case here on Yelp, it's become a review site for the city itself. So where do I begin? Sandy is the little kit who grew up and went away to college. I remember as a kid, the Salt Lake valley sort of ended at 10600 South and Sandy was about as far as you went unless you went out to the farm town of Draper. When they built South Towne Mall we all thought they were nuts for putting a mall on the outskirts of society and in a small town like Sandy. I lived in Sandy for many years, so the love goes back. But sometime around the end of the last millenium, things starting picking up for my old hometown and they started to get some size. The buildings got taller, the politics got a lot more shrewd, the developers starting putting in track housing and strip malls, and suddenly you have a big city on the south end of the valley, only now it's not so frontiersy. I like old Sandy (around 8600 S and just east of State Street) but it's been neglected for a while. New Sandy has a lot less character but a lot more people and let's be honest, it's a heck of a place to raise a kid and own a house. The old strip malls have been slowly inhabited by businesses with a little more flair and it's coming into its own. It's a big city--I lived on the east side, and had lots of parks at my fingertips. You have the busy commercial sectors around 9000 S and especially 10600 S, so everything you need is pretty close by. I don't love the breakneck development (we missed a real opportunity to make Quarry Bend something besides a giant shopping complex) but so far it's held up pretty well. All in all, it was and still is a great place to grow up and it seems to have grown up pretty well itself. Hopefully it continues to grow and diversify.

Then called the Provo office. Very helpful person, informed me I need to fill out a form. Ok. Filled in out, faxed it back, only way they would accept it, and asked what now. He said, quote, " I don't know. I just forward the paperwork. It's out of my hands". Sure enough, I don't get my money that month. Called this office. Person incredibly helpful. Said even though I am not in his region he would help me. A quick search and he saw I was right. Couple of keyboard clicks. 48 hours later , money in my account. He saved my mortgage payment this month

So, here it is 2022 and my first year to get Medicare. I retired at 62 and have been getting my…read morechecks. Now I am losing $83.00 a month after we got the biggest raise in forever. Because of the raise in Medicare premium to $170 and some change. I called Social Security this morning and was told "that's what has happened", my monthly rate increased and then they take out the premium and I am left with a loss??? So, I asked if that was right and was told yes. Granted, $83.00 is not a ton but we are already on a fixed income, and this just makes it worse. So, Thank you so much SSI and God Bless America!

There are picnic sites and campgrounds throughout…read more The road was closed 7 miles in, and we quickly stopped used the potty and took in the scenery while throwing a few snowballs. If you're passing thru and not stopping you don't need a pass but to stop and enjoy the area or hike, you need a pass. We just drive to the end and turned around and they let us in without paying. Watch out for the snow plows! They come at ya quick around corners and sometimes even on the wrong side of the road.

I was in and out in 10 minutes with new registration and my Utah plate in hand! The lady serving me was so friendly! I'm just amazed how easy breezy it is to get stuff done here. Drove home with CA plates and quickly changed them out! Good riddance!!!

The wait was less than 10 minutes and I was at a gate speaking with a DMV employee reviewing my information to provided me with a new drivers license ... well a temp anyway. Next I had to take the exam. I had 25 minutes to take it. The two people in the exam area were very helpful and were sure to help us with remaining time. The place needs to be empty at closing/ 6 pm. The test is open book, and it's online. I passed! Overall experience was amazing. Every step of the process was easy and efficient from the website application, changing my address, date and time selection, arrived a little late and no one was phased (except me), short wait time, talking with a DMV agent, taking my test and getting my temporary license. Easy peassy!

I am a local piano teacher, and it so wonderful that the Sandy Public Library offers a free place…read morefor piano teachers and students to have a piano recital. The staff are so friendly and helpful to the community and I am so grateful that students have more opportunities to perform and share their talents at the public library. In particular, Andrea Wilkinson, who is the director for the children's programs, was so welcoming and friendly to us at our Christmas recital this week! We can see that she makes a difference in the educational programs for children here!

Aside from excellent collections of books (the sci-fi, travel and youth…read morecollections are especially good), the Sandy Library is really like s a community center versus just a library these days. One can check out telescopes, use 3D printers, get personal meeting rooms and more. The library programa are constant and extremely well put together, catering to kids (reading clubs, parties) to teens (D&D, cosplay) to adults (book clubs, art exhibits). On top of all this, it's beautifully decorated! Only occasional problems are those stemming from people bringing their cell phone conversations into the library and talking out loud.

Spent 15 min in line, looked back and there were 15 people behind me! My suggestion is to get there earlier so you miss the after work crowd. Both clerks were very helpful and friendly.
