There have been improvements.....I'm not sure what reviews they received but they have done the following: 1) cleaned their self service area, of course people still leave envelopes around...but the inventory has been stocked and the inventory labels are correct. 2) there were four attendees at the check out. When the line began to get long one came from behind the desk and went down the line email to ask how each person needed help. If there was a way she could get the line shorter she did. I needed one stamp. She told me the total amount for the stamp and envelop and took payment right there. She also gave me instruction for the mail that came to my home but the person no longer lived there. She gave me a pen and took the envelopes herself. I really appreciated not standing in line longer for ONE stamp. I also appreciated the self-service area being more intuitive and stocked. People are coming in and leaving and it is more like a quick service station, as it should be.... especially on a Saturday. read more

Absolutely the WORST PO in our area. They literally NEVER answer the phone. It just rings and rings until it finally just disconnects. Mail is never delivered in a timely manner. Mail is often delivered to the wrong address. I have on my account MULTIPLE items from the IRS that show as delivered throughout last week and this week. Not a single one delivered. Our delivery person is abysmal and often, very uncomfortably, hits on me. But you can't reach anyone or file a complaint anywhere since THEY DON'T ANSWER THE PHONES!!! read more

Terrible. If the post office loses your mail or messes up a hold/forward request, don't bother trying to get it resolved... because they certainly won't. In fact, you'll be lucky if you can even get in contact with anyone. There is one phone number to call, and consider it a miracle if someone picks up (they will temporarily disconnect the line if you call too many times in a row). There are absolutely no other means to communicate (like an email address, fax, voicemail, etc.) regarding lost mail, except for that one phone number. 12/16/08 Dear USPS, There are things that suck in life. Passing Go! and not collecting $200 is one of them. Having to visit the Post Office to send Christmas cards overseas is another. After my visit yesterday, I'm writing to complain about several things regarding your service. First, I never know how much postage is anymore. Second, yesterday was the busiest day of the year, and you only had two terminals open? Granted, the ladies were friendly, but you should know by now that when people only come to the post office a few times a year, many of them won't know what they are doing and require a lengthy explanation of why the 50lb package they plan on sending first class won't get there by tomorrow. Third, your parking lot is impossibly small in Laurel and street parking is even worse. And what's with those 15 minute parking spots anyway? Do you really expect people to get in and out within 15 minutes? Fourth, will your tracking information ever work? The link to track my package from Amazon says that you haven't received any info on the package yet, and this continues until even after I've received my package. Still, I really appreciate the fact that you deliver domestic mail so quickly during the holidays. And evites and emails are nice, but there's still something special about receiving a card in the mail. I have had many issues with mail delivery to my home, usually when our normal mail carrier is not working. We continually get mail swapped between us and another address on the next block. This past weekend, the carrier claimed to attempt a signatory delivery to our home at 8:32 pm. I am beyond furious as both my husband and I were home the entire day and evening and no one EVER rang our doorbell or knocked. In addition, there was no note left at either my home or the other home. The tracking information says the delivery was attempted but no one was home and that a note was left to advise on redelivery! I've been expecting that package and now have no way of getting it delivered or retrieved. Shame on you, USPS! I wish I could leave zero stars! read more

This place does not have it together. Postman continuously delivers wrong mail to my box. When I called the post office to ask where an important package was, they could not find a supervisor and the person who answered the phone had no phone numbers to contact any of the supervisors. I have been calling the Main Street Laurel Post Office since they opened at 8:00 am - No answer, no voice mail recording... Are they still in business??? Finally, at approximately 10:03AM, I called the main street location, the phone was finally answered by the Supervisor Mrs. Lovick; I proceeded to explain that due to my mailbox being full, it's apparent that my mail was held for p/u and the call was to confirm. The Supervisor proceeded to let me know that I should call back at 9:00AM to speak/confirm to my carrier, to which I responded to let her know that I have been calling the Post Office since 8:00 am without any answer - By this time this said Supervisor made no attempt to offer any suggestion, etc, but instead placed the call "On-Hold" for 2 HOURS.... I hung and immediately called back, spoke with another Supervisor who was able to expeditiously assist and also resolved the issue... It's ashame how 1 bad apple can spoil the bunch... read more

Disclaimer-I didn't actually use this post office, I wanted to but couldn't find the entrance. It's set back far off the street and fenced all around. Long wait, two people staffing moving slower than molasses in the winter. Went on my lunch break to pick up a package that required a signature that they neglected to knock for, while I was home. They left the slip denoting a time for when pick up would be available which was the following day any time after 9am. I went at 3pm. After waiting for about 25 minutes they told me that no mail had been brought back to them and I'd have to return the following day to check... I asked the employee if the time and date for pick up was ever accurate or meant very much at all and at least she was honest albeit unhelpful and simply said "Nope." Was complete waste of 45 minutes (most spent on hold), misdirected constantly put on long holds only to have who ever DID pick up give me attitude and be rude. I received a large envelope from a lawyers office with time sensitive information inside! The envelope had no date stamp over the stamps! I took the envelope to the Columbia post office and asked them to scan the barcode and tell me when it was mailed and to date stamp it! They said that they couldn't read it with their scanners and to take it to Laurel! I told the postal lady that I could reuse the stamps on the envelope again, and she said I could! I told her no wonder they are losing money. She said they don't stamp them anymore! I find that hard to believe. I went home and called the complaint line, I was on hold for 25 minutes. Next story, my husband mailed an letter overnight, it took 4 days to arrive! He went back to Laurel to get his money back, because it is guaranteed! He had his receipt, but for some reason, the lady said he had to come back to get his money! He wasted three trips and hours of his time for nothing! Next story, this past Christmas I received a stack of Christmas cards and other mail a week after Christmas, that was date stamped three weeks before Christmas! Go figure! read more

I work in Laurel and our mail is continuously late, wrong address, and down right doesn't show up. We are a place of business and our mail service is coming AFTER 5 O' CLOCK THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! This has got to be the worst post office in the nation. Delivery is atrocious. This is the second time I have had an alert tell me my package was delivered to my front door, only to find nothing there. If give you zero if available. USPS left note on door, nothing marked on to know what it is, when it will be delivered again if it will be delivered again. Called the number and tracking number doesn't exist so they say I have to be in hold for your Do your job people, Mark if signature is required, money needed, or other options. I am always surprised how fast the Laurel Post Office is at delivering mail. A few times they saved me money by not having to pay late fees!!! The mail woman came by and dropped off 1/2 of my Amazon packages and notified me that she left one of the packages at this location because it was "too heavy for her to carry" and when I went there to pick it up, I calmly explained what the mail lady told me. If it were possible to give a negative rating I would. I don't expect much from a post office. Mail a letter, get a package maybe? But they still struggle. When I have a package delivered, I always have problems. I've had packages marked as delivered when I tracked it causing me to believe it was stolen..Only to have it given to me by the postman the next day. I've had packages that were marked as delivery attempted, and it wasn't. (I sat at home waiting for it all day waiting with the door open. I like fresh air don't judge me....) They didn't even bother to leave a "Sorry we missed you" notice on the door or in my mailbox... my latest package was marked as having an incorrect address, and even though I verified with three people that the address was correct and I've lived here for 10 years, I still have no package. They are "investigating" the location of the package so I can't even pick it up. And the customer service? Well, there is none. They don't return phone calls and don't answer the phone most of the time. And when you do get them on the phone, the tone is never very pleasant or helpful. I've worked in customer service before. I know it sucks so I keep that in mind whenever I'm dealing with anyone. I also picture them starting bon fires with my Amazon packages..Another reason to remain respectful at all times..But just the thought of having to use this post office for anything other than receiving an advertisement from the local pizza spot leaves me with a "oh great, what's gonna happen this time" feeling.... This post office is lousy, has been for years, no improvement all that time regardless of my wasting valuable time to offer real consumer suggestions to improve as they ask for on their receipts. Anything other than coming here as soon as the doors open is a long line waiting. I tested their self service scale once to compare that with waiting on line, & the scale was a higher letter weight. I typically try not to go to this post office because of the long lines. The people behind the counter are usually very helpful and quick. However, this past Saturday, I was standing in a LONG line. A gentleman appeared from the back and the man in front of me jumped out of line to talk to him. I spoke up and said something. I have probably had 15 different post offices serve me in my adult life but the one in Laurel, Maryland has got to be the absolutely worst, hands down. The parking lot is tiny, the employees rude and don't even start me on the mis-delivered mail! I routinely get other people's mail and they get mine, even though we have mailboxes at the curb and the house numbers are clearly displayed! But don't dare complain.....the management points fingers every way but at their own employees. Mail woman shows up at our brand new office with our first mail delivery. An electric bill and a small soft package ( wireless mouse for a laptop ) . She was met at the front doors and refused to say hello or any greeting as the door was held open for her. She literally just scowled and then ranted immediately that we must install a mailbox outside, ON the curb, and close enough for her to "reach it from the truck"... how getting out of her truck was not going to happen again, Then never came up for air and then she stormed out with a scowl on her hateful face, literally shoving the mail over to me, like someone had done her wrong. I requested to forward my mail to a PO Box at Greenbelt, MD since March 15, 2016 and these people at Laurel Main Street Post Office can not get it right. I have file several complains since all my mail is never forward to the new address. My Medicaid card as well documents lost, my insurance card lost, mail from the IRS lost and so forth. I was there last week to see if I can pick up a package that contains medical equipment and they told me that I had to call the supervisor. I did talk to him and ask him that since I was in front of the building if he could give me my package he said "NO", supposedly was not process yet. So I request him to forward to my PO Box at Greenbelt, he said no problem I will. Guess what they still try to delivered my package at my old address after I personally requested to be forward. While I was at work, I received a peach notice that the certified letter I was expecting from my insurance company had arrived, but no one was there to sign for it and it would be returned to sender on Monday. This was Friday 8/14. I went to pick it up the next day. When I got to the post office there was no parking and the line was 40 people long, typical for a Saturday, but surely they will have enough people working there to move it along, right? Wrong! There were 2 overwhelmed people at the counter. Finally after 20 minutes a woman came by to apologize for the wait. I stated that I was just there to pick up an envelop, could someone get it at the pick-up window. She said they didn't have personnel for that & she was not authorized to handle mail. I'm sorry, then why do you work at a post office if you can't handle mail? 10 minutes after that a woman who was authorized was triaging the line. I again stated I was just there to pick up a letter, she said, let me finish with the line and I'll get back to you. I understand, but I was there before all the other people and my request was very simple. So, I wait another 15 minutes. Finally she goes to the back and gets my letter, takes her 30 seconds. I have been waiting for 45 minutes. I look at the letter and the post is dated 7/2, This is time sensitive certified mail from my insurance carrier and you sat on it for almost 2 months!?! This is utterly ridiculous. No wonder the US postal service is going bankrupt! read more

For this review I especially want to praise, compliment and ask for recognition for employee named Della. Della rates 5 stars for her exceptional, courteous, and helpful attitude and service. My attorney sent a certified package on 5.27.16 which was scanned at Laurel PO 6.3.16. As of two weeks after 6.3.16 I had not received the certified package. The tracking system also showed package scanned 6.3.16 at Laurel PO and nothing further. I contacted the PO and received two phone calls from management. The first caller told me this is a courtesy call and the investigations supervisor would look into the package whereabouts. After these two calls I heard nothing more from humans. Of course I went on line to the PO web site, again tracking the package. No change in status. Package scanned at Laurel PO 6.3.16. Ultimately I received an email survey from the Postal Service requesting my experience. I answered the survey on line at the very lowest rating possible. Finally I personally visited Laurel PO. There was a line as usual and Della was assisting those in line. She very courteously approached me and I explained my lost, never received certified package. During our conversation I described the size of the envelope, about 9 x 12, not the usual letter size. Della asked me to wait a minute, excused herself from the counter, went somewhere in the back of the counter. Della found my package. I was extremely relieved and most grateful to a person who took pride in her job. The world needs more people like Della, and especially the Laurel PO. read more
