At many locations UPS is an overall great service within the community. Unfortunately, this UPS on Baltimore Avenue in Laurel, Maryland is not at all a good service within the community. Their downfall is service. They forget that customer service makes or breaks businesses. I have gone here a few times because this was the only return option offered by Amazon. The staff is extremely rude. I have never witnessed such rudeness. The older man an older woman are particularly short when they speak to customers with so such condescension. I thought the first time possibly, the woman at the desk just had a tough day so I dismissed it. However, this was ongoing to the point that I began to dread having to return or mail anything requiring UPS. The UPS staff at this store are awful. If you mail something and have a question, they display short tempers and scream at you causing a scene if front of other customers. They have no patience. During all my visits each staff was rude as though it was their right to mistreat customers. I remained quiet because I was raised not to disrespect my elders. I do not think it appropriate to mistreat others and it's not ok for them to mistreat me. I just could not continue to witness how badly they treat customers so I refuse to go back to this store again. The store is dismal and dingy. The staff is not diverse and I wonder if that impacts their treatment of customers. The staff is always frowning as though they hate their jobs and the customers. The review that indicates that they charge a dollar for a small piece of tape is true. So please make sure to take your own tape with you. The UPS in Laurel, Maryland on Fort Meade Road is where I go now. They are the complete opposite of the UPS store on Baltimore Avenue. The Fort Meade Road UPS is awesome. The staff is overly kind and diverse. They looked at me with suprise when I asked how much it would cost for a piece of tape to tape up my box. Every time I go the UPS store on Fort Neade Road the staff tapes the box close for me at no charge. They are always welcoming and kind. They keep a little basket of goodies for children at the front. The store is bright, clean, welcoming and organized. The staff readily assist you with smiles. I will never go back to the UPS store on Baltimore Avenue in Laurel, MD. According to other frustrated customers, this UPS location now charges $2 not $1 to re-tape your package, even if it's already taped, simply because it doesn't meet their standards. I brought in an Amazon return. Amazon me an item that was completely the wrong item in manufacturer's packaging (non descriptive, brown box with Chinese lettering). Amazons instructions were "no need to pack, bring it to the UPS store and they'll take care of it. I brought it in, scanned the QR code, and the guy at the counter told me that they charge to pack and ship ship customer packaged items back to Amazon. I told him it was manufacturer packaging, and it even had an Amazon sticker on it, but he doubled down, and said the instructions on. My phone said customer packaging. He never got a close look at my phone, and no where did it say on the page that had the QR code customer packaging. He refused to help me unless I paid. I relented and took it up with Amazon customer service, got a refund for what I paid. Won't use this location again if I can help it. Never had this happen at any other UPS Store read more

I believe the reason for the low rating follows conventional wisdom that satisfied customers tell three others, but dissatisfied customers tell twenty. I use this UPS Store frequently--for Amazon product returns, and for other UPS shipments. The personnel are knowledgeable, polite, cheerful, respectful, and as far as I've seen, diligent. I'm always amazed to be able to hand over an Amazon product return (don't even have to wrap it), let the store employee scan the QR code from my iPhone screen, and be on my way--receipt in hand--all in a couple of minutes. I hate writing reviews as I feel everyone has a bad day. But synonymous to many others, this is honestly the worse UPS store in PG county. The gentleman and you get Asian employees are nice. But the older lash is ALWAYS disrespectful and rude. I'm not sure what it is. Everytime I come in she is either yelling at someone or making someone feel unwelcome. The time before the last I walked in with a package and before I even got to the register she yells "that's not for UPS". While I was still in line. I ignored her as I knew it was for UPS as I had a mobile code to print out. So once I got to the register she said it again before I could even pull my phone out. FIND ANOTHER STORE! This location does not have any drive-up access & frequently TOWS vehicles parked in front the store! The towing operator says the facility has multiple fire code violations, hence the towing. I see innocent people getting towed as they drop off LARGE pkgs inside. FYI, the lane in front of the UPS store is actually a LOADING ZONE -- Where else can you stop to drop off heavy packages?! & No, they do not provide any carts in the parking lot. Good Luck safely getting your heavy packages across the parking lot & 2 lanes of active driveways without falling or getting hit by a car folks! I needed to mail a birthday gift and with my crazy working hours opted to stop by this location during my lunch break. I had previously signed up for correspondence from them and had a 15% off coupon for packing. The representative was efficient and courteous while informing me of my options for shipping. Store is clean, well lit and even offered me a seat while I observed him packing the items to ship. You can track the progress of your items online and lucky for me and the recipient, if no one is home it can be picked up at nearby businesses that hold packages. I'd frequent this location again for my shipping needs. They are capable of Android pay, shared parking w/adjacent businesses and weekend hours to fit your schedule. read more

I went in to send a package to the UK(GB). The younger gentleman offered to provide an estimate. I informed him that the quick estimate online was from 42.00-90.00. He proceeded to measure my package adding an inch to each side. The package only weighed 2 lbs. He quoted me $200.63 saying that USP is only using Express Shipping-all of UPS not just this store. Due to the cost I left and researched other options. The cost per UPS online is $117-121.29 and that is to ship today and to receive in GB 10/16/20. I ended up using another carrier for International First Class and the cost was less than $40.00. PLEASE do your research. read more

I have used the UPS store at this Laurel location several times over the last few years for notary public services, for prepaid package drop-off, and for boxing and shipping. I've find the staff to be unfailingly courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. They respond quickly when a customer enters and they seem to have a sense of duty to the work. Plus, I've never seen a representative lose their cool or their polite demeanor even during rush hour or in the face of an impatient customer or a complex job. The worst UPS ever. My package is supposed to be delivered on Wednesday Feb 20, 2019. But it was snow, so the package was delayed due to the weather, then I can understand that. But then the weather was so nice on the next day which is Feb 21, 2019. The tracking number was shown that it was "out for delivery". I was waiting all day to receive the package because it's importante but they don't deliver it as well. Then i have to wait until Feb 22, 2019. Do not go here!! I have gone here several times out of convenience because it's nearby but I will never use them again. First, they are expensive, in general. I went today to get something notarized and photocopied. The man is very nice but the woman gave me an attitude and after I waited for the fax to go through, I noticed they charged me for faxing 8 pages even though I only needed 7 pages and the confirmation also said 7 pages. This isn't that big of a deal but for $1.50 per page, I didn't want to pay for something extra. When I pointed it out, rather than apologize- she seemed annoyed. She refunded the fax cost and charged me again for the price of 7 pages instead of 8. She gave me the refund receipt and the receipt for the new charge. However, she would not give me my original receipt that showed the charge for the notary which I still needed but she refused to give me my original receipt even though it had a charge for the notary. When I asked for it, she said no- she needed the copy for her own records because of the refund (which was her fault anyway). They are a place that does copies. So, I told her, "Well then make a copy." She got mad, did so begrudgingly, and then gave me the photocopy instead of the original receipt. The big point is she tried to overcharge and never apologized about it and then was rude. Awful place. Never ever returning. read more

I came in to fax some paperwork that printed on both side and the man at counter said that he'd have to make copies of the opposite side since the fax machine didn't have a front and back option. This was ok with me as long as I didn't get charged for the copies he had to make since it wasn't my fault that his fax machine didn't have that option, he agreed and went to work on my fax. When I get home and call the person who received my fax they informed me that half the pages were missing, ding dong at the counter didn't fax the copies he made. They're closed tonight so I'll be headed there in the morning to give him an earful and get a refund, I'll never patronize this business again. read more

The location is convenient, service was quick and painless, and the early hours made my life easier. Only down side is a dark interior when looking from the outside in - almost looks like the store is closed despite what hours are posted. Wish there was a 0 star. Ups never delivers my packages to me. They always either leave it at my leasing office with no attempts to my actual address or they just don't even bother teeing to drop off my packages. Quite sitting l annoying when you pay for 1 and 2 day delivery and you don't ever get you're things. Going through this a Again where they didn't even attempt to deliver them i had to go on amazon to search where and who had my packages. Then there were notes saying that i had requested for my package to be held and i was going up pick it up last night. COMPLETE LIE!! Every time I come they are very helpful and courteous. I never have to wait more than five minutes during the day and maybe ten during high traffic times. They have a notary on sight for low cost. They have a customer computer if you need Internet, Etc. Would definitely recommend this UPS location. read more
