There are normal covid precautions you should take, but you are reminded before you arrive for your appointment. I have been coming to see Makamae specifically, for a few years now. Each visit has been exactly as expected. Makamae is professional and great at communicating to ensure you are well taken care of. She will ask and check-in to make sure you get the most out of your visit. Because of this, I don't go to any other place for my massages. Makamae knows how to mālama (take care) and I am always very grateful. Today, my most current visit, I didn't realize how tense and knotted up I was. Makamae found these spots and targeted them for me when I asked her to. Her pressure is never an issue for me, however, I always know I can communicate a change in pressure to her if it were necessary. I always leave feeling very calm and relaxed. She is very friendly & professional and has different unique techniques such as cupping & stretching. Every time I leave Bonnie she teaches me new things to keep my mind and body relaxed. She is very attentive and notices how my muscle maybe loose or tight compared to before. Most recently my right shoulder/ back area has been bothering me. She has a special that offers 3 appointments at an hour each to target that troublesome area. I'm in my second appointment and I can tell that area is loosening up. Bonnie told me that it wouldn't fully go away after a few sessions but she showed what I can do on a daily basis to assist on my own time. Even though one area is bothering me, she does not just focus entirely in that general area,. She will also make time for the rest of your body. Originally I had reached out to make an appointment for just my Husband because he has been dealing with a lot of post surgery pain and he was suffering. Last minute I decided to make an appointment for myself because.. why not? She is very responsive through text, and very accommodating. I was willing to wait weeks for her but she squeezed us in just a couple days out. Parking was not an issue! It is street parking but she gives you very detailed directions and it's in a cul-de-sac so it's not complicated or difficult to find at all. I didn't know what to expect. I always feel shame just walking into someone's home (obviously) but her Husband was also there to greet us and I promised you, whatever first time jitters immediately went away. She is Mrs. Aloha.. if you were lucky enough to grow up in Hawai'i. She radiates not only love but also warmth. She's very personable and extremely knowledgeable. I was prepared to wait in the car until my appt time but she welcomed me to relax inside and showed us her gadgets (red light bed & electromagnetic therapy) It was a trip! But the massage itself, I'm not sure how she was able to pull off a 3 hour massage (90 mins for both) but we both got turnt out!! I had so many thing cracking and popping.. muscles that were relieved almost instantly. My Husband who has very little worlds, was completely blown away with how much pain disappeared in less than 2 hours. He has said he would like to go back regularly as soon as he is discharged from the Army. Personally, I don't think she is charging enough for her "gift", but I'm very grateful she keeps it so affordable so everyone has access to this care. This place is located in a strip mall area by Time's Waipahu across of Festival Market. I was greeted by my massage therapist, Lulu, who happened to be hanging out near the entrance when I arrived. I told her why I needed a massage and asked her to specifically work in my upper trap area. The room is not your "glamorous spa" type of room, yet it gave peaceful vibes with the large massage table and sheets. Lulu's pressure was firm and you could tell she was using her entire body to provide me the pressure I asked for. She demonstrated amazing soft tissue massage techniques throughout and even gently mobilized some of my joints. To be quite honest, it was hard for me to relax here, but I came here for a therapeutic massage that can target the tight areas of my body not for a "relaxing spa day." Lulu continuously asked me throughout the session if her pressure was too hard or if I was in pain and made adjustments as needed. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or make things right, I received a phone call where the staff became defensive and upset that I referred to the situation as unprofessional. I was berated then threatened with cancellation simply for respectfully addressing my concerns as a paying customer. I completely understand that scheduling issues happen, but customer service and professionalism matter just as much as the service itself. Last-minute changes repeatedly throughout the day, followed by hostility toward a customer expressing valid concerns, is unacceptable.
