4/5 = 8/10 Traveling in our RV and came here because of the distance from the campground. Had a bicycle accident yesterday 11/9/23 approx 3:30 pm. Gashed my left forehead and cheek. Wanted to figure out if I needed stitches or if I had a concussion and get a tetanus. I felt ALL staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. I was at the facility too long 4:30 pm until 8:15 pm and felt the visit could have been 1-1 1/2 hours shorter. I was there 4 hours! Not sure what occurred. May have been an emergency. Don't know. But that's more of a corporate thing! Today 11/10/23 received several follow up calls. Really appreciated the clear message stating everything was fine and if I had any questions etc and I did not need to return the call. read more

I took my 90 year old mother who has Congestive Heat Failure and was in significant pain in her shoulder radiating down her arm and it was tingling to UAB Gardendale Emergency Room. Any Emergency Room worth its salt would have known to do at least a quick EKG on her to see if she was having a heart attack. Not UAB Gardendale. They let her sit there an hour and a half before running an EKG!!! Unbelievable. In addition, we were there from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm that night. There were no ambulances pulling in nor people running in declaring an emergency. We saw nurses standing around laughing and talking while people waited in pain. No one was in a damn hurry to make this extremely poor managed ER more efficient. It will be a cold day in hell before anyone in my family goes there again. read more

Twice since June 2023; UAB gardendale has helped me. But on July 23rd; I went with a large swelling on inside of upper left arm. I was afraid and Fultondale after hours care was also afraid it could be blood clot since I've had one I. Left lung in 2023. Well the tech did ultrasound pretty soon after arrival. Got sent back to waiting room for 2 hours; was never called. I didn't feel good; so I told the rude nurse and sweet receptionist up front that I was leaving. The rude nurse stated; well when the more critical cases stop arriving; you can be called. I never saw a single what seemed like a critical case the entire time I was there. And a person in waiting room hollered and cussed loudly the entire time!!! You would think an employee or security could have put a word in her ear!!!! It was miserable having to listen to that bellowing the entire 2 hours!!!!!!!! read more

I had to bring my daughter here due to stomach issues I'm so glad I did great staff no long wait time & very convenient parking they're super close to our home & I much prefer coming here than going downtown I don't wanna say we'll be back but awesome to know I won't have to drive far read more

UAB Gardendale - Hospitals Near Me - Gardendale, Alabama

This is not my normal location for UAB visits, but due to the impending tornadoes the day of my actual appointment, I called and was able to get rescheduled to this location a day earlier. This is a huge location! Much bigger than the Hoover satellite office! The facilities were clean and modern; I was the last appointment for the day, and they were on the ball with getting me checked in and seen. While I don't plan to make this my normal spot for appointments, I highly recommend UAB medicine and this location to others! read more

I came here after overheating at work and getting badly dehydrated. It was the first time I had come here and I will say that the entire experience was as good as it gets. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and taken care of. I was taken back and seen within five minutes of arriving and every single staff member I had contact with was very very awesome. They were all very friendly and accommodating. It was much easier than any ER visit I've ever had and they did an awesome job of taking care of my needs and they got me back to feeling better quickly. I will certainly come here again if I need any more ER care for any reason. I was very impressed by the whole experience. If you need an ER, this is where you want to go. read more

Would not recommend the Ortho clinic. I've been flat up ignored after numerous calls and also sending messages to the patient portal. Never got a message or call back after 4 days of trying to make contact with their office during and after hours to the on-call doctor. Swapping clinics immediately! read more

We had to reschedule an appointment due to inclement weather and I'm glad we did. This location is much easier to get to than the location downtown, and you don't have to pay for parking! It is a large satellite office, and you can tell that it is new / modern. The employees / staff were nice and answered all our questions. Also, they let me come in to see the doctor since we were the last appointment, which I wasn't allowed to go to most of the appointments due to COVID, so I was very appreciative of that. read more

This is the worst place to go! I hate it because I live half a mile from here. I have come to realize if you want true care and people that have good attitudes, you need to just go downtown to UAB. I brought my dad in that could hardly breathe due to COPD, and they were mad because I asked if there was a place that was blowing AC . The people that work here, for the most part have terrible attitudes. And I've been here before and needed an IV for dehydration, and they ended up missing the vein and it made my arm swell. So I yelled for help and the same nurse that put it in came back and said there was nothing wrong. "I went to school and have done this more times that I can count" was what she said. I had to demand someone other than her check it. And they fixed it and at that point I refused further treatment and when I was leaving I told the first nurse infront of the nurse that fixed it and the nurse said that she didn't fix it and nothing was wrong!!! She bold face lied, I guess so her co worker didn't feel like she was wrong! After these experiences I don't even go to Gardendale UAB for emergencies. Their care can't be trusted. JUST GO TO THE BIRMINGHAM UAB! I wish I could 0 star this place due to how scared I am that they will not provide quality care& even internationally give incompetent care. RN not impressed! Regret not going to Children's! For life-threatening emergencies, this may be your only option in Gardendale. We thought going down the street would be the fastest way to stitch up my son's laceration on his forehead. It was deep and about 1.5 inches long. I am a nurse. We already cleaned it and stopped the bleeding beautifully with 3 butterfly bandages. We were too frazzled to remember to be more assertive about our needs because it was the one year anniversary of my father-in-law's death. There is no excuse for the application of simple numbing cream and stitches to take over 2 hours unless they were overwhelmed with some very critical patients! After waiting patiently, my husband stood at the door with the door open for a while to remind them the little guy needed care. After the wound had already sealed nicely with the butterfly bandages during the long wait, they opened it up about an hour after arrival just to take a look and put numbing cream on. They initially thought they could glue it. Nurse blamed pharmacy for the delay. Numbing cream was dropped on the floor. Hopefully, they left to get a new tube or to sanitize it. After opening the wound up again and numbing it, they had the little guy wait an hour without much supervision before stitching. He is just 2 years old! Opening a would that deep without being prepared to stitch could have led to serious blood loss, especially for someone so small. The poor little guy will probably have a nasty scar now! I had another son with a very similar injury and situation (the wound was already cleaned and sealed with butterflies). I took him to Children's. At Children's, they numbed it in triage right away, did not disturb the butterfly while assessing, the doctor took a quick peak, checked on him frequently, waited with us part of the time, and the stitched him up about 30 minutes later. The experience at UAB was entirely different. For non-life threatening injuries in the Gardendale area, I would recommend a slightly longer drive for an urgent care, or a local primary care doctor during business hours (unless something major changes). I regret not taking my little guy to Children's of Alabama or a pediatric urgent care. I was in tears half the night thinking about what we put the little guy through unnecessarily. If we had more time and money on our hands, we would consider legal complaints. I'm not posting to be a grumpy mother. This is dangerous care that should not be expected from a prestigious, "magnet" hospital. We arrived shortly before 7 PM. It was about 10 PM when we left. I arrived at my Primary Care appointment with excitement. My experience at Kirklin Clinic has always been great. I agreed to see a CNP instead of waiting 6 months to see a Physician. The CNP dismissed most of the information I gave an centered in on one symptom that wasn't my main concern. He prescribed medication that I said I already had. When asked if there was anything else, I said I needed refills of my BP meds which he begin to write but stopped and if I was going to be a patient with them. Was this a used car sales deal??? I was instructed to stay in the exam while an appointment was made to see physician. After 20 minutes no one returned so I walked outback the exam room and the staff was gathered at the desk talking. The CNP laughed and said "are you still here? ". Yeah you left me in the room!!. I went to pick up the Rx and only one BP med was filled. Called the office and they said the CNP did not write a Rx and could not fill another one although I'm holding the Rx for 11 refills in my hand. I was told by the office personnel to go back to my previous doctor for the Rx. I came to UAB Gardendale to be told go back to someone else for a BP Rx???? I asked for a manager. Someone came on the phone and said, "we will take care of it" and immediately hung up. That was a week ago and still no Rx. I wish I had recorded the conversation!!! read more

Yes I remember. Went there during Covid to get Monoclonal Antibodies because I am high risk. Very efficient.
