I went to UB nails less than a week ago. I received a Gelish manicure. My sister received a regular no chip manicure. 4 out of my 10 nails popped off within a couple days. My sisters no chip manicure completely peeled off within 4 days of the service. There are so many other nail places around- avoid UB. I've had amazing luck at Euro Nails in Lake Bluff & will just stick to using them from here on out. read more

The prettiest nail salon I have ever been in! The express pedi was just right for me. I prefer to cut my own toenails so I just had the lady shape them. Also asked her to be gentle on my nails. There were a lot of nail polish color choices. Very satisfied with my experience and had a quick shoulder massage included too! read more

I really liked this salon and went with some regularity. Looked forward to going. Found it to be very welcoming with high quality technicians. Not so much anymore. I've been a walk-in the last few occasions and received below average pedicures. Not certain if I was given the newest tech in the place because I was a walk-in, but one actually burned my skin with a stone that was entirely too hot. She seemed a little clueless when I pulled my foot back and expressed discomfort. Lackluster foot massage. Leg massage that was more appropriate for a linebacker. Won't return. read more

They started off strong, but then they raised their prices and reduced their service. My latest pedi lasted all of 25 minutes (maybe it was their new "rush job" special) and that was interrupted by 4 customer phone calls. My technician barely looked at or spoke to me. I always go to UB nail, but I am extremely disasatsfied. I went in for a Mani pedi and spent $80. I had a dip Mani done, which is suppsed to last up to 3 weeks. The day after I got my Mani, my nails chipped. so went in the next day and they fixed them. However that very same next day, one of my dip nails just completely fell off in one piece. read more

The place is supper cute and chic. It says "walk-in's welcome" but when I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon, as a first time customer and said I didn't have an apt, the girl at the desk rolled her eyes, and said something in her language to a man who then walked up to the desk. He informed me that they can only do "one service" (I asked for mani-pedi) unless I come back later that day. I chose the pedi, since I was already in the area. The pedi went well, they have a lot of colors, the girl did a good job. Prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, my pedi chipped within a week in two places... usually pedi's last for me about 3 weeks. I would give this place another chance... since they were so busy, I assume it truly is a quality place. It's just unfortunate that my experience was not 5 star. read more

I came in here a couple months ago and I was really disappointed with the service. I had an appointment and what should have taken 45 minutes, took over an hour and a half. I was constantly left alone for long periods of time and received dirty looks when I voiced my concern with the customer service. I haven't been back since, nor do I believe that I will be. It was just too overpriced for the mediocre work. The scenery is nice, but it just didn't match the service I received. read more

I have been here many times and have always been pleased, so I guess it is true you are only as strong as your weakest link as now I am prompted to write a review that is not so glowing! My most recent experience resulted in a tehnically sound and appropriate pedicure, but at the end my technician was rude- I think she only wanted to get to lunch! Didn't help me with bringing my shoes/jacket to drying area, and then no shoulder massage (that I've had every other time before and saw others being given that day!) Then I stood waiting for several minutes to pay as no one was manning the desk.....I hope this was an anomaly; I am strongly considering finding a new nail salon. read more

Wow! What a great place. When I walked in on Friday afternoon it was nicely busy. Had an appointment and was taken care of immediately. Lot's of activity. The pedicure was outstanding as was the mani. Now, being a guy, I can't say how the polish was, but this was really good and very reasonable--I paid $20 less than other places in Lake Forest. By far the best gel mani I have ever had. It was also my first gel mani (last summer). I live in NYC now and every time I go get a manicure I hope it is half as good as Enke at UB but I am always slightly disappointed. They take so much care in making sure it lasts two weeks minimum. I hope I get to go back to UB next time I am on the north shore. read more

I went to get my mani-pedi done today with a gift certificate I had, and the girl who painted them was so kind! We talked for a little while, and she even complimented me by saying I'm so beautiful, which made me smile. She did a fabulous job and was really gentle on my nails. The place is so pretty and the experience is very relaxing. The staff is friendly and treats their customers nicely. Their equipment is clean and they have a wide variety of different colors to choose from. I definitely am planning on coming back! read more

I was given a gift card to this salon for my birthday and was excited to use it. They say walk-ins welcome so I went in without at appointment. I was told I'd have to come back two hours later which I agreed to because it was very busy. When I returned for my appointment the lady at the front desk was not very helpful and i felt like she was being a bit rude. She told me to go pick out a color but I had no idea where the nail polish was. The polish was on a wall around the back of the salon that you can't see when you walk in. I had asked for a no chip manicure but there was no direction on which polish was regular vs no chip. When I went back up to the front desk without a polish she seemed very annoyed that I had no idea what I was doing. She barked something about looking in a book for the no chip colors. After finally picking the color I went back up to the front and just waited. She pretty much ignored me for about 10 minutes and then barked something at me and pointed her finger for me to go with a nail tech. Luckily my nail tech was very good. However, I observed the nail tech next to me be very rude to her client. She actually rolled her eyes at this poor woman who wanted to change her mind about her color choice. A family friend of mine went there the same week and was treated poorly too. My mani/pedi were good, but I won't be going back there. Who needs attitude when you are trying to enjoy something that is supposed to be a nice treat!! read more

Cutest walk-in nail place I've ever been to - Love the space! The nail techs are all very good - pedis turn out perfect every time. No acrylics, so the place never has that harsh salon smell that makes it hard to breathe. Super clean, very friendly staff. Great prices, and they are on time/ready for your appointment (if you have scheduled one - they've also been able to accommodate me for walk-in). Great all around experience here! read more

I took my mom for a day out. Since our original appointment got canceled due to lack of staff we had to schedule an appointment last minute at UB nails. At first glance the place looked amazing and very fancy but if your really look around the place looks cheap and did the bare minimum! The workers were rude and my nails didn't turn out the greatest, it was also very expensive but I get a great massage. read more

As a city girl, moved north, I couldn't find a place that provided pedicures like so many places downtown. I spent the first year going back downtown to have pedicures, until I found UB Nails. I get the Green Tea Pedicure ($50), which is an hour long, every week, and it is one of the best salons for pedicures I've used in a long time. I have had appointments with several techs and each time the pedicure is great. I love that they actual time the massage portion of the pedicure (best 10 minutes) so you are never rushed or shorted. I feel like each tech is highly trained and unlike other salons you never feel like you have someone inexperienced working on you. I don't have my nails done at this salon since I have faux nails and they don't do it (which is nice for other customers because there is no odor that comes from that process), but I sit in envy of others getting an amazing a massage of their hands, arms and shoulders during their manicure. read more

I had won a gift certificate in a raffle for a free manicure here, before that, I had never even seen the place. But boy am I glad that I found them. Their location is a little hard to find, it's down one of the less busy streets of downtown Lake Forest and is below ground, a short staircase leads to their entrance. The store itself is beautifully decorated and they manage to get a surprising amount of nice natural light in there with large bay windows at the front. The manicure itself was a great service. They pulled out all the stops! Hot towels, hand and shoulder massages? Yes, they do it all. They had a wide variety of colors to choose from, I got a light baby blue shade. They even clean your jewelry (rings) while they do your manicure. I have been to both this shop and Lake Forest Nails, which is down the street, and I definitely prefer UB Nails out of the two. I would recommend that you book an appointment as they do get fairly busy during their peak times. read more

I got a mani-pedi and loved the pedicure. Was moved to get my mani, and the manicurist smudged my pedicure with her chair. From there on out, all was fine, until halfway through filing my nails, the receptionist didn´t want to do a pedicure, so my manicurist did the other woman´s pedicure. The receptionist then went on to finishing my right hand. Not only did she not ask if I wanted to cut or file my right hand, she just went at it with the clippers (left hand was filed). So now I am left with long, square nails on my left hand, short, stubby, oval nails on my right hand, and a smudged toe. I went with my mom, and my mom finished her pedicure and manicure way after me. I´ve been to UB before, and was also rushed, and left with a not so great job. Definitely not my cup of tea. read more
