Today was the final straw!!! I noticed a $96 charge on my bank account, come to find out, they took it upon themselves to charge me an annual fee instead of my monthly fee. Not only did they charge me, they charged me 13 days earlier than my monthly fee date, and said it would take effect July 30th. I NEVER gave permission for this, and can't get anyone to help me. When I was finally able to navigate through the help tab and get a robot to respond, I was able to cancel supposedly and ask for a refund, but only through several argumentative prompts. The number took me to the safety department, he said he could not help and no one on a phone could, I got no resolve. He had his own insurance but because he was on the way to pick up a ride Uber took over the insurance coverage. The insurance they use is awful , Progressive. However, Uber does not have a support line to call and the chat takes forever. This is pretty bad customer service for something that should be a relatively easy and quick fix. We were in Louisville, KY, we used Uber to go from the airport to our hotel, 4 of us in one large car, very comfortable for and price was $19 plus a tip. this was at 7PM on a weekday. When we went back to the airport at 7:30AM a few days later same type car, it was $49 plus tip. Neither trip was there any traffic. This also happened when we went from the hotel to Churchill Downs. $19 return $49. I called and asked a Uber support person and they traffic, etc. was the difference. I just want to start by stating something rather obvious. Businesses that have the means for you to contact them via PHONE and not wade through endless lines of type and links to click just to end up at a point that is USELESS are far better than those that do not -- UBER being one of those that does not and is virtually USELESS in my book. Yet, I have a $9.04 charge on my debit account for the trip that UBER is trying to say is not paid for. So I fracked around in their endless words and links options and finally got the amount lowered (there was some type of JUNK CHARGE for waiting .47 seconds). I'm sorry but there is no way that .47 seconds should be charged for waiting. That shit was not even a minute long. Also, the charge that was being claimed as not paid was $9.21 - yet the $9.04 amount was charged to my debit card no issue. Further more, when I tried (and I did try multiple times and ways) to get this issue rectified I was met with convoluted reading and clicking option yet none of them FIT THE ISSUE THAT I HAD. In short I could go on about people and their continued feeding of companies that do not do phone support so I digress and just want to know WHY the two charges????? I kicked Lyft to the curb do I have to do the same with UBER???? And Bill J. hope you see this but the cost difference is RUSH HOUR time. Not only have their "surge" prices gone astronomically high (recently $39 to travel 7.7 miles at 3pm on a Saturday!!) Having frequent problems with drivers accepting rides and then either going the completely opposite direction (probably driving Lyft riders) or more often sitting in place for longer than the estimated arrival time, likely in an attempt to get you to cancel to ride after Uber's two minute grace period so they can charge for the ride without having actually done anything. One recent driver sat in a shopping center parking lot for 7 minutes when it said the pickup would occur within 4 minutes. Another driver sat at a fast food restaurant nearby (*across the street*) for 5 minutes when it stated his arrival would occur in two minutes. Uber doesn't care about customer satisfaction and their policies are designed to place riders at a disadvantage because they take the lion's share of any fares charged whether it happened or not, or whether it was a pleasant experience or not. I made a reservation for UBERXL on June 27th at 3pm for destination John Glen International airport . For UBERXL it states it can accommodate up to 6 passengers. We had 4 passengers with luggage and driver Marc shows up with a vehicle that can't accommodate us and just stares at us. I approach him and he said he could not take us because of our luggage. I stated UBERXL can accommodate 6 people and he said that was without luggage. Who travels to airport without luggage. He cancelled the reservation and I was charged 30.00 and ended up driving myself to airport and paring for 18 days and paying 160.00. This happen at 1:13 pm today, October 18, 2021. I caught an uber ride home. when i first got in the driver's car. he did not greet me. i am not very social myself so i thought nothing of it. i sat in the back seat on the passenger side. he stopped his car in front of my apartment building, i got out walked up the passenger side of his vehicle. when i was turning in front of his car he pressed on the gas and his headlights nearly made contact with my body. already shocked i hurried to the grass in front of my building. he didn't apologize or ask if i was okay. i noticed that i had accidentally left my keys and as i was looking at him in his vehicle and started to walk back because i needed my keys to get into my house. when he saw me approaching the car again he sped off. i had to chase him full sprint around my neighborhood because he saw me in his rear view and would not stop. he watched me sprint after his car in my neighborhood. whenever i would get within 10 feet of his car (the speed limit in my neighborhood is 15 mph) he would speed up in attempt to lose me. i almost chased him out of the neighborhood before my fiancé stopped in the street and asked me wtf was happening and why was i running and crying after a car. i explained that the uber driver had my house keys, almost hit me, saw me chasing his car and wouldn't stop. my fiancé let me use his keys to get in my home where i used the help menu in the uber app to call the driver. at this point all i wanted was to feel safe in my home. the driver sent me to voicemail to which i left a very angry message demanding my keys be brought back to me at least because a strange should never have the keys to my house. i called the driver a second time. the driver answered and said that he knew he had my keys and would bring them back. i waited 20 minutes. the driver never returned with my keys nor apologized for nearly hitting me. so i filed a dangerous driving report with uber. i also found out that for him to bring me my keys would be an additional $15 fee. wtf. as i am typing this now it has been over an hour since i've contacted uber regarding the situation and they have not responded to me. so, not only was i almost hit by reckless, selfish and rude uber driver, that same driver has the keys to my home and approximate address. uber has done nothing to help me. not one response to my numerous messages. i will never use their service again. read more

I made a reservation in advance to go to a doctor's appointment. Based on the time they estimated for ride to this destination I set a pickup time which would get me there for the appointment I got confirmation and was waiting outside my house 15 minutes before scheduled arrival. After 25 minute wait no one showed up. I was able to get a friend to drive me and was late for the appointment. I did get a notification that that drive refused my ride an I was told to reschedule a ride. I was charged a cancelation fee. This is unmitigated Gaul! The only resign I booked the reservation wanted to get there on time. I've had several things wrong with the orders I have placed and received. They don't get back to you in a timely manner (if they even get back to you at all.) one of my orders my friend and I placed at carabbas, the order was completely wrong .. the manager at carrabba agreed and apologized and said she would contact Uber. Because this other driver who I will refrain from naming him cancelled on me when he saw my ride was short and only worth $5... He called me right away to tell ME to cancel the request because he was already heading in another direction farther away. Now, I didn't know how to go about navigating through the uber app to "cancel" so while I'm trying to find out how to cancel, I kept coming back to the GPS screen where it tells you where my driver is and I see this fool driving around 2 blocks away in circles with the map telling me he is 1 to 2 min away. Yeah my ride was a short distance only worth $5. But every time I requested uber for these short rides, I always tipped atleast $10. Thats not bad for a 4 minute drive right? ....I hope... I've been told that the driver can also cancel on you on the app but this driver most likely told me to cancel so he still gets somethin out of this... Been using Uber for transportation for a family member who just had surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Most of the Uber drivers had cars smelling strongly of cigarette smoke. Is there any way to request non smoking drivers? One driver gave my friend a hard time - saying to my friend (the paying customer) that she (the driver) had the right to smoke in her own car and that my friend should shut up. There were some great Uber drivers that my friend and I rode with from the airport however, the ones picking up at the Cleveland Clinic have had dirty, smoky cars. At one point I wasn't really even at a pickup point being I just got out of a concert and we were walking aimlessly through a residential neighborhood looking for a cab. I used the Uber app and the dude was literally right behind me. I think it's amazing. Freaky good! I also think their c.s. is top notch. Case in point a driver showed up to pick up me and my friends but his car wasn't big enough. He told me I would have to get an XL uber. Being new to this Uber thing, I didn't know exactly how it worked. But I ordered it and it came and got us. Next day I seen I was charged for the first driver. Contacted Uber through email and not a minute later I get an apologetic email for the error and a promise that they'll refund my account immediately. I was blown away. I would give 5 stars but I really hate the way they upcharge. It can get pretty pricey. But for the convenience of it all, I guess it's worth it to pay a little more.
