I rate this Court Street Branch of u BreakiFix "VBAS" for VERY BAD ATTITUDE and Service. So I dropped my phone and my screen cracked into such a rainbow of colors it made the Pride Flag look like an old black & white TV. I've been going to this uBiFix here since at least 2019 bc it's in my hood and they were always solid - but I guess new crew new attitude - ah how we long for the good old days. Anyways I've had shorter waits in Doctor Offices. The waiting area looked like a subway platform at rush hour - and by that I mean - a few lucky peeps had seats and the rest of us stood around waiting....and waiting... Anyways my tech Andrew informed me a new Apple Screen would be $250 or $300 I cant remember which now, but that an after market would be $200. So being that the phone is a couple of years old I went with the after market. They took it in, fixed it and I was out. Next day - even though it sat on my desk or in my pocket - another rainbow appeared. So I went back I showed it to Andrew and said, "Its covered under the warranty right? Its only one day" He said, "Well if it's not your fault" I showed him the spotless screen. I was like "Dude forget about no cracks or no scratches -there's not even a speck of dust on the screen." "Well lets see." He goes in and comes out after too long a time to tell me, "Yeah we're gonna do you a favor and fix it." "Do me a favor?" I'm thinking - because Techs are like car mechanics or Doctors - you can't express how you really feel if you're still gonna put your whatever in their hands. Lets get real - Business don't survive by doing favors. It was 2 days into warranty - and whether it was a defective screen or incompetence - that's why you're gonna do it. Anyways I was never given a reason why it failed. So I get it back fixed and a few days later, its in my shirt pocket, I'm standing leaning over my desk and my phone - that's in a sturdy case - falls about 2 feet onto my desk and like that old Rolling Stones song "SHE COMES IN COLORS EVERYWHERE - SHE'S LIKE A RAINBOW!" Needless to say I got my answer the hard way - if their aftermarket screen cracks from 2 foot fall to a desk - it's prolly not even defective but just cheap crap. I mean 2 screens fail that easy - time to source a new provider boys! I had no time to go back to their circus as I had to fly - besides slap me once shame on you, but slap me twice... Anyways when I got to Louisville Kentucky there was a shop on Bardstown Rd & Eastern Parkway - polite, friendly no attitude. Their aftermarket cost only $149.00 instead of $200 and they told me it would be ready in 30 min. I didnt even get to finish my coffee in the cafe across the street before I got a text it was done. They basically stole hundreds of dollars from me by lying to me about my laptop needing certain repairs to fix. My laptop is still broken months later and they have not given me an even an update. They charge per visit if it involves a computer/laptop, so they have charged me for coming back for issue they should have fixed or discovered before. They also lied about giving me a refund, and instead kept my laptop for months without giving me a single update on the site or calling me. They rarely even pick up the phone. I went to have my mother's phone repaired which had some water damage to it's usb-c port. It had some issues charging and the screen did not sleep, other than that it worked fine. I explained the issues to them. They told me even if it worked after they repaired it there was no guarantee it would keep working after I left. I told them I understood. About 2 hours later when they estimated it to be done, I called in. They told me they discovered issues with the screen, "flickering in the bottom left corner." They told me I had to replace that as well as the usb-c port but they'd give me a deal. I reluctantly agreed to the extra repair. About another hour later they told me as they closed the phone to test it the fingerprint reader failed and they had to order a new one. Really? They explained how much that would cost and they could get it next week since they aren't open on Sundays. They also couldn't release the phone to me because of a company policy that the phone must be in 100% working order first. I left the phone with them. Wednesday that week they got the part but told me the phone still didn't pass it's tests so they had to put it back in its "original condition." Thursday I asked my sister to pick up the phone from the store. When she showed me the phone, the screen was shattered in multiple places. This was not from a fall or hit, it clearly looked like someone attempted to pry the screen up forcefully and failed multiple times. They gave me the original screen they broke like nothing was wrong. There wasn't even the screen flickering they mentioned before. What kind of business is this? This was the first and last time I use this service. If I knew where to source the parts myself I would have fixed it but figured I'd leave it to "professionals." I went to a different location on 96th street, and they didn't have the part needed to fix my phone, and they looked in their inventory and this Court st location had it. I contacted this location, they didn't have the adhesive I stock. Either way I would have to wait for one location to order something, and I'd have to be without a phone until next week. So I called to see if they would transfer the part to the 96th Street location, and I would even go pick it up. The 96th Street location was agreeable to the solution, the manager at Court st told me it was "too much paperwork." Reviewing during COV19 lockdown: This location is currently pretty slammed, and due to size of the store and social distancing they don't have a ton of staff working, but they're still doing a fantastic job. The line outside seems to pretty consistently be 3-4 people long taking 10-15 minutes per person, plan on waiting an hour during the pandemic - they're doing their best. The line social distances well, and the customer interfacing worker actually talks to you outside (safer than having you come inside). I went in with a cracked screen and Google Fi insurance to get it replaced. The customer service guy out front was super nice and did his best to help people quickly and completely, while not shortchanging someone on a repair. They do a full inspection of your phone before taking it so they can guarantee the same state, for my Pixel 3 they had me factory reset the phone (back up your stuff before you go!) so that they could work on it w/o any data issues. Most important though: I can't emphasize how nice the repair is. They took their time and did it correctly. The phone feels brand new! The new screen + new battery feels like a whole new life to a 2 year old phone. I highly recommend this location. read more

I took my phone in for a Samsung warranty repair, as they're the only authorized Samsung walk-in repair shop in Brooklyn. I went in on a Thursday, they diagnosed the problem quickly and told me the needed part would be there by Monday. I didn't hear anything on Monday, so I called on Tuesday. After being on hold for 20 minutes, someone told me that the part wasn't in yet but would be in later that day. After not hearing back again, I called again Wednesday but gave up after 30 minutes on hold. Called Thursday and have currently been on hold for 34 minutes and counting, all the while listening to a loop of audio promos about how great they are and how they keep customers "in the loop all the way." This is a terrible experience. UPDATE: Hernan really had to struggle to get this resolved; there's an issue with Samsung's diagnostic software (and the S20/S21 line), and he put in a lot of time and effort to get my phone back to me. So I've bumped up to 3 stars. Why only 3? Because when you tell someone you're going to get back to them, and then you don't - not just once, but again and again for days - you lose credibility and degrade the customer experience. When the customer has to keep calling to get information, and wait on hold 15-30 minutes each time, then get told "huh, someone should have called you" when you come in (after waiting another 20 minutes), it undermines the great quality work that was done. read more

They fixed my phone but there a setting on your Samsung phone called maintenance mode It stops the maintenance guy from going through your photos or your personal stuff on your phone when they doing the repairs. They got nasty when thay seen it on my phone and told me I had to take it off. I explained to them what it was made for and they told me then go to another store... I have used this place twice. Both times worked out great, and the price was as expected. Very friendly and knowledgeable, and both times the repairs (one iphone x and one ipad 7g both cracked screen) were ready before they said they'd be. When I picked up my first repair at the shop on Court Street I noticed a line of 8 people waiting for various things and I got that bad "well here's an hour about to be wasted" feeling. *However* one of the employees came out and took care of people in the queue individually and I waited less than 10 minutes. There is a reason there are so many 1 star reviews of this place. My son took his phone in to have his screen replaced. We felt desperate enough to pay the astronomically high quote they estimated. Once we received the "fixed" phone, it started losing battery life (a full charge would go to 30% in under an hour) and his phone would suddenly and without warning power off. To be clear, we decided to pay their high quote so that part is on us. But, the explicit guarantee of paying up is that we would receive a phone in working order. Instead we have a host of new issues that were not part of the original problem. When we went to confront the techs who did the job they blamed us for "overusing" the phone claiming that is why the battery life was so compromised. There was no interest on their part to help us find a solution. They did, however, express an interest in upcharging us more to "fix" the battery. If tech breaks that is one thing, but to go for a repair and find new (completely different) issues is quite another. And to be blamed for it is even worse. You should steer clear of this place!! read more

tl;dr: Meh service, poor communication, and lots of wasted time. I brought my phone in for a charging port replacement, and I was told it would take 3 hours -- to come pick it up at 2pm. I had to come multiple times between 2:15pm and 4:30pm when my device was finally "ready". Each time I was told it was almost ready and to come back soon (e.g 30 min, 5 min, "sealing up the phone so almost ready", etc). The last time at 4pm I was told they'd be right back to check for an extra part, since they broke something else by accident during the repair. They left me waiting outside the store in the cold evening for 30 minutes unsure of what was up and whether they were coming back, while I had dressed in a t-shirt and shorts for a 2pm pickup. When I finally got my device and went home, I found they forgot to reinstall my sim card and slot cover. I called them up and they said they were aware the part was still at the shop, but for some reason neglected to call or message me about it. I had to make one more trip over to pick it up, with a fully functional phone at 6:30pm at long last, more than 2x longer than estimated and a LOT of walking back and forth and wasted time waiting around in uncertainty on my part. I get that shit happens and communication is hard especially without a phone and on a busy day during covid times, but there were a lot of missed opportunities for a bit of communication that would have gone a long way to set expectations and make my experience less shitty. I also felt unsafe and uncomfortable because the technician wore a mask to cover his chin and mouth but not his nose, and some of the time I had to wait inside for a while because the technician was supposedly "coming right out to talk to me" but got delayed. At the end of the day my phone was fixed and the technician was courteous so I appreciate that, but the experience had plenty of room for improvement. read more

I got a call saying they'd replaced the keyboard...I never asked for that and never approved that cost. I explained to the tech what I needed on the phone, and he said it was clear and they'd follow up. I then got ANOTHER call saying the keyboard was replaced and to pick it up. After they confirmed what i already knew, they told me that fixing the phone would be costly and that i'd be better off buying a new one. So i asked, really how much would it set me back and the kind young rep said, Well, since your screen is CRACKED!, we're required to fix it as well, a company policy! and that it would cost me $120, he didn't even quote the price to fix the faulty charging port after the terrible news!. So i said thanks and took my phone to a Spanish owned Computer/electronics Cell phone repair company in the hood in Bushwick on Broadway and Arion and Low and behold, they fixed it for $45 and I'm up and running again. This has happened before and I've had decent experiences at other places having my phone screen replaced. $229 later, I now have a discolored iphone screen that's finnicky about responding to touch, and a Face ID sensor no longer works; I had none of these problems before letting them handle my phone. If your repair person is Kaodie: they're very kind/courteous/professional, but also completely screwed up my phone. Ended up buying myself a new phone instead of trying to go back and forth to get this fixed again days before having to leave the country. The main reason why I prefer UbreakIfix is because you can fix your phone and it will still be eligible for a trade in because they use preparatory parts. So I want to make a clear distinction. The company is NOT a problem.. Unfortunately great companies, without their knowledge, hire unprofessional and forgive me for saying this (inadequate staff/management). I would suggest still using UBreakIfix, but possibly taking the trip to another location. I brought in my phone on December 22nd. Told them what kind of phone it was and what problem I was experiencing. Almost immediately was met with unnecessary sarchasm. His exact response was "Cool" After asking about pricing and I was told that a diagnostics test would be performed and I should expect a call, just in case they need to order parts, either by the end of day or the next day the 23rd. I waited until the 26th ,No Call) So I decided to call. Spoke to a lady ..she was polite, she apologized and informed me that the tech called out and that I should receive a call by the next day the latest. Unfortunately I did not receive a call.. So I waited until Thursday to call Dec. 28th to call . Asked for an update and told them that I am still waiting a week for a diagnostics and was met with an extreme cavalier response suggesting that there is nothing that they can do about it. (His exact words were Im sorry YOU FEEL that way.) After confronting him about his response and reminding him that I'm still waiting for a diagnostics he ifinally admits that my phone still has yet to be TOUCHED.. and made a promise that it would be done at the end of day. I then ask how can you make a claim when you guys have to order parts.. He becomes unraveled and says " we have plenty of parts we might have it." And tells me a technician will call me by End of day. Later that day I received a cal informing me that they need to order parts. 12 days Later I receive a call informing me that they have received the parts and are ready to start. When I asked when it will be ready they refused to give a specific date. Instead of calling they emailed me telling me it was ready. which btw they only had a record of my email because my girl used their services years ago. MEANING after it was completed they did NOT make an effort to call. In Conclusion brought in the phone December 22nd.. Received my diagnostic 6 days later. Took a TOTAL of 20 DAYS to complete Every time I asked for an update was either met with scarshasm or was given responses that insinuated that I was inconveniencing them. Outcome: Despite it taking 20 Days the phone was fixed.. Fortunately enough for me this was my back up phone that I travel with. So it didn't have an impact on my life. However. They were unaware of that. Taking 20 days with very little to no Communication is unacceptable. I would STRONLY recommend to still use UBREAKIFIX but to go to a different location. Completely unprofessional. Even if the commute inconveniences you. Do yourself the favor and USE a DIFFERENT location. that slight inconvenience potentially may save you DAYS if NOT WEEKS of your time. read more

I went to go get a screen repair for my iPhone. Ever since we went here to get my phone fixed, I have experienced many issues. Some things that have happened that have never happened before have been extreme battery drainage, my phone being overheated, my phone randomly shutting off, and my phone screen kept on popping up. Today, I went back to the store and told them about what happened but they denied it and didn't take any responsibility but instead, blamed me. When I reached there I was told that I must have not talked to anyone before coming because they don't fix headphones. I made an observation that they have headphones listed in their ad right on the counter. The worker started explaining.e that it's some special insurance which made it clear that it wasn't my case. I interrupted him to ask further questions and at this point this guy just flipped! He said that if I'm not planning to listen then I can get out. I really wanted to like this place given the fact that they are a Google Authorized Repair Service Provider. They even have a poster that reads "Made by Google, fixed by experts". Although I think that it would be more accurate if it said "Made by Google, fixed by God knows who". Allow me to explain why: I went there and told the staff about the issue I had with the top speaker of my phone. It had gotten wet 3 months ago and ever since it sounded distorted. The front guy showed me the piece that they were going to replace it with and said that it would cost me around $100. They took it in on Friday Aug the 7th and told me that they were going to call me the next day with an update. That did not happen. I figured I would wait until Monday. I did and no call was received. I called on Tuesday to get the so longed-for update (the website said nothing but "awaiting diagnostic") only to find out that apparently my phone was okay and that the speaker was working perfectly fine. I even spoke with the technician who reassured me that everything was A-OK. I asked him to make sure because when I had brought the phone in it wasn't working fine. He said that I could go pick it up whenever I could. So I went to the store the next day hoping that somehow my speaker had gotten fixed. I waited around 45 minutes in line and when they finally took care of me, the technician gave me back my Pixel 4 XL and asked me to test it out. Luckily, I had asked my mom to go with me since she also has a Pixel 4 XL and those speakers work fine. I played "At The Door" by The Strokes on YouTube on both phones for comparison and (surprise, surprise) my phone sounded distorted. He opened his eyes wide open and said "I really don't know what to say, sir. The computer said everything was okay", to which I replied, "It clearly isn't". He asked me to wait a moment and went into the back. He didn't take the phone with him. I waited another 20 minutes or so when a different technician asked me if I needed some help. I explained him the situation and he asked me to show him the issue. I played the song once again on both phones. He said "Yeah, I can definitely hear it. Give me one moment" and went into the back. I waited another 20 minutes until I asked the front guy if he would kindly check in the back to see what the following steps were going to be. He took around 10 minutes and when he came out, he told me that unfortunately the technician that had checked my phone was inexperienced and he didn't see the issue at first. I was livid. How was it possible that the so called "experts" didn't run a thorough revision of my phone even when I described them exactly what the issue was? He said that he had to process a new order for my phone and that they would get it right this time. He gave me the ticket and told me that the soonest it could be ready would be the next day since they had to order the piece to replace the top speaker. I asked him if I could speak with their supervisor and he said that he would check in the back. That took him around 5 minutes and when he came out, he said that she was at a business meeting at the moment and that he didn't know how long it would take her to be ready. I told him I would wait for her and so I did for about one hour. In that meantime, a small dog with the name Luna engraved in her collar came out from the back and my mom asked her if she was the supervisor (LOL, that was the highlight of this whole experience). I was getting extremely frustrated and desperate, so I tried one last time to see if she was available. The guy said that she would've been out by then if so. I asked him to check once again and when he came out, he said that the technicians were busy at that moment, that it would probably take them another 30 minutes to come out. So... no supervisor? I decided to leave but before I stepped out he said "Do not worry sir. We will give you a call tomorrow in the afternoon to give you an update". I asked him "Are you sure? Will you guys give me a call this time for real or will I have to call you instead?". He reassured me that they would certainly call me this time. It's Friday, a week after they got the phone, and I never got that call. I spoke with them earlier today and they said that they were still waiting to get the top speaker, that it would be ready tomorrow (Saturday) or Monday. I can only wonder how different things would've gone if they had only listened to me in the first place. read more
