I cannot believe how nice and honest the staff here is. I came here after my phone got damaged on a day when I had to make too many calls outdoors in the rain. When I got to this store, they analyzed the problem. They told it would cost $140 for them to fix it, but recommended that instead I go to Best Buy and purchase the same phone for $100. So I went to Best Buy, but it turned out they were all out of my phone, and would not be getting any more. So I came back here the next day, and told them I'd just have to pay the $140 for a fix. They said "Okay, but first lets just check and make sure the phone didn't dry out and fix itself." They tested it, and surely enough, it was dry and the phone was working again. They told me I didn't need to pay them anything. How often do you find such good businessmen like these? The people here truly think about what's best for the customer, before thinking about making money themselves. I have never seen a more trustworthy staff. read more

This is my first time in uBreakFix. I had a very very bad experience with the guy (Andre) and the technician there. First of all, even though I have an appointment between 10AM-12PM range on Monday morning. I was still need to wait in the line for 1.5 hr for check-in. Other customers in the line also complainted about the appointment system is useless. Second day (Tuesday), The store texted me said that there is a IT department passcode locked the phone and they couldn't do the testing. I stopped by the store at the around 5PM and tested the passcode with Andre together and successfully got pass and unlock the phone back to home screen. Andre said everything should be fine and the techinican would did the testing. Third day (Wednesday), I was waited for their pickup call until 2PM and got no response from them. So I called them like more than 10 times and no one pick up. Finally, a lady picked up the call and told me that my phone is still waiting for customer (Me) to give them the IT department passcode. I said "WHAT"? I tested and gave it to Andre yesterday. The lady find Andre to speak with me. Andre said "Oh the passcode was still not working." I was saying "WHAT? We tested together yesterday and it was unlocked and you wrote it down". He said "The passcode is "xxxx right?" I said "No, is yyyyyy". He said "Oh, it is still not working" I am thinking 'WTF, are you kidding me?" and I said I can come to the store right now and test. He said that "No need, our professional technician said it is better to reset the phone and the passcode sometimes is not working". We are on the phone back and forth for like 5-10 minutes and at the end he insisted that they need to reset the phone. I asked "Can you backup my data first?". Andre said "There is not enough time". What can I say? I can't come to the store and see my phone first? At the end, I am forced to agree to reset the phone. After 30 seconds I said I agreed to reset. He said the reset is done and asked me for gmail account and password to see if there is any backup stores in the cloud. I was thinking like what? 30 seconds and reset is done? IT IS REALLY MAKE ME THINK THAT THEY RESET MY PHONE BEFORE THAT ACCIDENTALLY. THATS WHY THEY KEPT SAYING THE PASSCODE IS WRONG EVEN I PERSONALLY STOPPED BY THE STORE ON TUESDAY AND SUCCESSFULLY TESTED TOGETHER WITH ANDRE. How can reset the phone done in 30 seconds, even the restart takes more than 30 seconds. Andre said he would call me back personally to get the phone. I said it should be today, right? He said ok. GUESS WHAT NONE OF THE PHONE CALL RECEIVED. Fourth day (Thursday), I called from 11AM until 12:40PM and finally someone picked up. He asked for my number and check. He is still saying the phone status is "WAITING for customer (Me) to give them passcode". I am really pissed. Are you guys OKAY? I am back and forth with you guys like THREE days and you guys never update your ticket log? He promised me that they shouldn't reset my phone and I pretty sure they did because Andre told me on third day. That guy talked to Andre and came back said that Andre said the phone will be ready today for sure. 15 minutes after our phone call, they finally update their status to "Post Repair Testing Is Underway!". And one hour later, my device is ready to pick up. YES, You are right. If I didn't call them, they would not repair my phone for sure and must be still thinking that my phone is still waiting for "IT department password", what a lack of communication between staff and technician. My phone just brought to replace battery and LCD only but they erased all the data in my phone. Even my phone is fix at the end but I am deeply disappointed with their services, amount of times wasted and poor communications between customers and staff. They charged me $100 to replace a screen, which seemed OK at the time, until I found out that the screen they used is such poor quality that it's worse than the cracked one I replaced. Given that I had a 90 day guarantee, I thought naively, I could go show them and they'd stand behind their product. However, the customer service was horrible. During Covid, I wait patiently in line, a gentleman cuts in front of me, and the agent ignores my plea to follow the line. I wait 20 minutes, to show them the cracked screen and they offer me a new replacement at the "discount price" of $80. Stay far away from these folks - U break, we break it more (and charge you for it). read more

My wife and I visited here today to see if they could fix her smartphone which suddenly became unable to turn back on. The condition was dire enough that we already knew it needed to be reset to its factory settings. But that prove to be more difficult than following the instruction found online. The person at the counter, Vincent, patiently took his time-about 30 min-and was able to bring back the phone to its basic functions. He did not charge us for the service. I do not mean to continue to take advantage of their generosity. But if we should have any problem with our phones again, we will certainly come back here. This location sucks. I (embarrassingly enough) had broken my phone twice in one month. I foolishly didn't use a screen protector in-between visits. That's on me. However, I felt judged dropping off my phone. I got a side eye from the associate. I asked the associate if he would mind taking a photo of my phone. The screen was so hilariously damaged, I wanted to show it to my friends. Without a doubt, this is not something an associate is required to do, maybe they are not allowed to do anything like it, I was just asking just to see. But instead of a simple "no" I got another side eye and comments as If I had said something insulting or outrageous. THEN I remembered: earlier in the month I had gone in to get a quote with my partner. You cannot sit on the ledges surrounding the shop, there is signage to say so. Fair. My partner had sat down without noticing. But instead of just asking my partner to get up, which he did, the same associate snapped his fingers at my partner as if he was a dog or a small child. I was so pissed I called him out on that. Who does that? Without a doubt, I know from experience that customers can be frustrating and oblivious. I can imagine this job is far from easy, and you know, people like me are pretty ignorant when it comes to tech care. But come on dude, this service sucked. The attitude was not needed. I felt like an idiot. Would have given it one star, but I later picked up my device from Christian, who was very kind and congenial. I truly appreciated it, as I came in frustrated. PRO TIP: If you want to use UBreakIFix go to the location on 8th ave in Manhattan and ask for Bianca, who is also kind and congenial as Christian was. Fantastic service! Honest and fair. I went in because my iPhone's charging port was broken and I needed to have it fixed immediately - for an all-day event the next day. Having called around, I'd been quoted $100+ for the repair. I went into uBreakiFix and was greeted by the very friendly owner/manager. He took my phone and said "just give me a moment, I'll be right back." About a minute later he reappeared with the phone and a big smile. He said it was just an extreme dust buildup and he'd recently purchased special equipment for this every issue. He handed me a charging cable and I quickly confirmed it was really fixed! STAY AWAY, they're scam artists, incompetent, or both. Changed prices on me, said I approved things when I absolutely didn't, and withheld details until after I paid. Context: I dropped my iPhone off for a diagnostic when the sales associate told me it would cost $180 for a screen replacement. I decided to wait for the diagnostic. Returned a few days later and a different associate said it would cost $250 for a screen replacement + motherboard cleaning (said this would fix the phone) + $25 for a battery replacement (optional). I said yes to TWO of the repairs for $250 and NO to the battery replacement because my battery health was still ~80%. Scammers / Idiots: When I returned to pick the phone up, the sales associate not only claimed I agreed to all THREE repairs but then said the screen replacement was actually $199.99 (not $180), and the battery cost was $55 (not $25), plus the cost of cleaning the motherboard. After waiting for 20 mins to hear them blame each other in the back for their mistake, they agreed to charge me $277. (still more than the $250 I agreed to) THEN he says the credit card machine didn't work and I had to go get cash. Annoyed, I just got the cash and paid. HERE'S THE KICKER: After trying to gaslight me, giving me different prices each time, and after I already paid, the sales associate goes "by the way, they told you your Face ID won't work right?" NO, NO THEY DID NOT. Why THE FUCK would I spend $277 to "fix" an iphone that won't have Face ID??!?!? Now I'm stuck $277 short, and have an iPhone that sucks to use, and I definitely can't sell it. Let me start off by saying everyone who works here is very kind; they're super helpful and knowledgeable. However, this place is the definition of over promising and underdelivering. When I first dropped my computer off, they explained that it would be a one week wait for the diagnostic and then maybe another week or two to get it fixed. That turned into one month. And then another. After TWO months of near radio silence and feeling like my computer was being held hostage, I finally got my computer back. Two weeks turned into two months with no computer. And don't even bother calling their phone number--you'll never reach anyone and will have to press the # sign every 30 seconds or so to stay on hold. I really wouldn't have cared if they told me straight up they were backed up and it was going to take a couple months. I would've rented another computer or something. But I never knew when I was going to hear from them, and they always had a line out the door whenever I tried to check in in person. They did fix my computer and are very nice people. But just be warned and ready to go without whatever you're dropping off for a while. read more

I had a great experience here. My six year old gaming computer was acting up so that I could not input any commands through the UBS ports. I worked on it for days, reloading drivers, resetting it, and testing the ports, finally it stopped accepting commands all together, brick. In despair I stopped by the court street store to ask about the rates. The gentleman behind the counter was very cordial and patient, he explain the process to me and the potential charges, and said I should bring the computer in, which i did. The next morning I got a call from a technician named Martin and he told me that he had updated a chipset, that my computer was up and ready for pick up, and that all of this was just part of the diagnosis so there was no charge. Amazing! A lot of repair places it cost a fortune just to turn the doorknob to walk in the place. They were honest in explaining the possible future of the computer and the important part was that they were communicative, and I didn't feel like I was being take advantage of. Both Martin the tech, and Christian the rep were professional, cordial and very engaging. There's no reason not to stop in and inquire about a repair. What a great business model. I see some one star reviews here but this was my experience, and it was good. Im writing this review on that computer. :-) read more

I have an old Fat PS3 console that I haven't used in awhile because the BluRay player won't run discs properly any longer. Figured it was worth taking a shot of seeing they can repair it since the earlier machines are in demand again becayse they are backwards compatible with early generations. Their website allows you to register and schedule an appointment specifically for Fat PS3 machines evening noting specifically that the issue is a malfunctioning BluRay disc player. They even give you a preliminary quote of $149 for how much it will potentially cost. So I scheduled my appointment carried the machine all the way to their office on Court Street in Brooklyn (not an easy task, these old PS3's weigh a bit). I step into the office, explaining that I have an appointment and what it is for and right away the clerk says NOPE we don't repair those, too old a machine. Says to try and go to a retro gaming store in Manhattan instead. SO, not the best experience there and would appreciate it if they remove even the OPTION of scheduling an appointment for such a specific repair request that they cannot even attempt to complete. read more
