After seeing one of the WaveForm podcasters using the limited edition "Touch Grass" skin on his Mac, I decided to order this MacBook Neo skin from dbrand. After more than a month of waiting for the back order to finally ship, I finally got mine today. Because I am terrible at following detailed instructions and was worried about making a mistake with the placements, I sought out the services of a local tech shop in the hopes that they could send someone out to help me. El Cerrito Plaza is home to uBreakiFix by Asurion, which I discovered through a Google search. I had never heard of them or even stopped by this establishment before. Around 11:30 a.m., I arrived, and by noon, I had completed my assignment. Fem, a young woman, agreed to take on my project, and I met with her. She consulted a technician and gave me a price of $20 when I asked for an estimate for a job like this. The extra $10 was going to be a tip for my tech, Jeremiah, since I was planning to pay $30. The two young technicians were extremely kind, helpful, and careful with my MacBook. They provided excellent customer service. You can get all your tech needs met here, in my opinion. read more

I have insurance through Asurion and this was one of the repair places they recommended. I was honestly really nervous because of the reviews. One of my laptops had a cracked bottom screen with a line going through the middle that kept getting worse. My other laptop screen suddenly stopped working out of nowhere. I decided to go with the El Cerrito location and paid $99 for each repair. I was starting school again on May 4, so I dropped my laptop off about a week before classes started. The same day, I got a call saying my MacBook Pro was being shipped to their main repair center in New York. I was skeptical and honestly didn't want my laptop shipped, especially with school around the corner. I was worried any little bump during shipping could make it worse. I told them I didn't want it shipped, but they said it was already too late and I would need to contact the insurance company. They told me to wait 24 hours. After about 2 days I checked again and they said it was already being repaired. Thankfully, everything worked out. The staff at the El Cerrito location was really nice, helpful, and patient throughout the process, especially when I had questions and concerns about my laptop being shipped. They repaired my laptop and had it back to me within about a week. My laptop looks and works like new now! I'm super happy with how everything turned out, especially since I'm back in nursing school. Customer service in the U.S. feels dead. Between Verizon and AT&T dominating the cell phone market, Wi-Fi companies, PG&E, and endless corporate runarounds....yes, I miss government regulation, it can feel like working people are constantly getting screwed.And then you find a place like this. If there were ever a model for how communication and customer service should work, it's right here in El Cerrito Plaza: smart, capable young people who actually know how to fix electronics and how to treat customers. I'm admittedly biased because they fixed my cracked phone under warranty in under two hours, and Trader Joe's is next door, so not a bad place to wait. But in a world where getting something repaired can turn into a three-day customer-service nightmare, I was genuinely impressed. Kudos to the Saturday crew. 8/13/26 I was given a tracking number for the laptop. I got the impression that it will be delivered to my house and has been fixed. The customer service did not say much but nice enough to give me the tracking number. 8/14 not delivered to my house by UPS but to ubreakitifix at El Cerrito Plaza, CA. It was delivered at 9:30 but business is open at 10 and I WAS NOW TOLD IT WAS NOT FIX. it is so true from what I read. They cannot fix laptop!!!! $70 is non refundable. I think they know they cannot fix it. They just get you for the $70. Now I do not know if I cannot get the laptop or when. They even try to get me sign up for repair plan. Extremely Poor Experience I had an extremely disappointing experience at the uBreakiFix location in El Cerrito. I had been there the previous week because my phone was not assembled correctly after being serviced. When I returned to explain the issue, the employee who helped me was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Instead of taking my concern seriously, he laughed multiple times and sarcastically mimicked the way I was speaking, and made me feel like I was being mocked for simply asking for the problem to be corrected. I was then left waiting for approximately two hours while he assisted other customers, and asking me to wait with an attitude. He didn't even check me in when I came in WITH a claim number! After all of that, he spoke to me with an attitude and tried to tell me to make a new claim over the phone, but I had a broken phone. He then make it seem like I had done something wrong with my claim, despite the fact that I was there because of an issue with the previous repair, and already had a claim! Customers should not be laughed at, mocked, ignored, or made to feel uncomfortable when they are trying to resolve a legitimate service issue. He said "maybe you should've done your claim correctly 'fateema'" in a sarcastic way, using my name... This was completely unacceptable customer service. I would like this incident escalated to the store manager and/or corporate HR/customer relations. I would appreciate someone contacting me directly to discuss what happened and how this will be addressed. read more

Though I wasn't expecting my Pixel 6 to blackout on me while streaming mass on a Sunday morning, I was glad a Google chat person referred me to this company to repair my phone. All three Bay Area places mentioned required me to drive across bridge to access and, with traffic being what it is here, I did not want to do this. A couple days later, I packed my phone in a priority mail box and sent it here. Thursday afternoon, Dan called me to confirm receipt of it. He instructed me to go online to their store location and file a claim so that there is a corresponding claim number to reference my phone. Later that day, I got a text that my phone was entered into their system and they would start the process. After speaking on the phone about the events leading up to this (I typed a detailed chronology which I inserted with my phone), Dan explained that they would be doing a diagnostic to figure out what is wrong. A day later, Dan was optimistic that it was a battery issue and told me that he would update me after they do further tests. Optimistically, I hoped that my phone was phone and that they would be mailing my phone back after accepting my credit card payment by phone. Then, things took a turn Saturday morning. Dan told me that, after replacing the battery, the phone continued to act as it did on the previous fateful Sunday morning. His prognosis was that the motherboard was fried. Luckily, I ordered a replacement phone that just arrived. Thank you, Dan, for your efforts to repair my phone. Knock wood, hopefully I won't be speaking with you in the near future. read more

Was charged for an advanced diagnostic for my S23 Ultra, and then told it was able to be turned on after plugging it in in the back room. Despite this, I was not offered a refund on the diagnostic fee. Later, the technician notified me that the battery was bulging, which might have contributed to my phone not working. As it was, I elected to replace the battery. After receiving the phone back, I noticed that there were some gaps in the back glass, which the technician attributed to the glass warping, which may be the case. What shows some shoddy workmanship, however, is that my new phone screen protector came back completely covered in scratches. You would think that the tech would place the phone on a microfiber towel or something before working on it. read more

I've been trying to process a broken screen claim with Asurion for going on 3 weeks now. Its impossible to get anyone on the phone that knows anything or is willing to help. I've been transferred back and forth between att and Asurion nonstop trying to get this settled with no luck. Somehow they have the color of my phone and imei number wrong. When the correct one item it changes the other and this has happened over and over again and ive processed and canceled over 15 claims over the past 3 weeks. Asurion is trash. Their customer service is outsourced and they just give you the run around. DONT PURCHASE ASURION INSURANCE ALWAYS GO THROUGH THE PHONE MANUFACTURER INSTEAD. Long story short, ill be canceling my line with att and going to T-mobile since they dont partner with Asurion. read more

Absolute bait-and-switch. Do not trust what this location tells you on the phone. I contacted this store about a dead touchscreen on a display they installed just six months ago. They explicitly agreed over the phone to honor their 1-year warranty. Based on that promise, I drove all the way to El Cerrito in weekend traffic and dropped the device off. Halfway through my lunch, they called to say "nevermind, the warranty is actually only 3 months" and completely refused to do the work. I escalated the issue to both the store manager and the district manager, and neither cared that their team had just wasted hours of my day on a blatant false promise. Horrible communication, zero accountability, and completely unprofessional. If they quote you a policy or a price, assume it will change the second you walk out the door. My husband took in our computer that suddenly died. He dropped it off on a Saturday. Was told it would be diagnosed in 3-5 business days. When he called on Friday, they were just beginning the work. Left it there until today to see if it could be fixed. Called again and were told, no it can't be fixed, it's the motherboard. Have you been without your computer for a week and a half? And every time you get an update, you have to call to get it? I'm sure you can do better than these guys. read more

Used this store since they're a Samsung authorized repair store, big mistake. Went in for a replacement screen protector for a folding phone since it had started to peel at the bend after two years. The employee I spoke with both at drop off and pick up seemed lost the entire time and repeatedly had to go to the back to find answers to my questions. The kicker- the new screen protector had air bubbles at the edges. When I asked about it I was told that is the best they could do after trying multiple screen protectors. I asked them how long they guaranteed their services and they said one week. As expected, there are larger air bubbles along the crease on day 9. I don't see how Samsung can consider this to be a store authorized to service their products. read more

I simply stood outside, did a quick Google search, and found out that was likely incorrect. I went back in and brought this information to the supervisor, Drew, who agreed with me--contradicting his staff member. However, he then claimed they had already done a "preliminary exam" that pointed to the port or battery. ​To make matters worse, Drew required me to pay a deposit for a "more extensive exam," even though their website advertises free diagnostics. I was told it's just a deposit for future work, but the lack of transparency is concerning. I paid it because I need the repair, but based on the service from both Phen and Drew so far, I am doubtful of a quick solution. read more

Hoo boy... I dropped off my mac notebook with water damage on a Monday. I was told that they could repair it in about 5 days. The next day, I got a call that I needed to come back in because they forgot to charge me the $180 diagnostic fee. 3 days later, I got a call about the repair services needed. And then I got another call telling me that one of the internal antennas was damaged and that they didn't have the part to replace it. I asked if the Notebook would still be usable and was told it would be like before. 5 days later, I get a call telling me the SAME diagnostic! They tell me about the antenna problem. I asked if it'll still be usable. I am then told that I would a special wire set up to connect to the internet and bluetooth. When they finally asked if I wanted to go ahead with repairs, I told them no. It'd already been there for 11days with no progress. Picked it up and took it to an Apple Store for repairs. It'll be here in 3 days. Time and $180 wasted. Would not recommend. read more

Had a great experience with the uBreakiFix staff in fixing my Google Pixel 7 phone camera issue. Camera lens outer layer had cracked and punctured the camera lens. In turn, appeared using camera to scan QR codes resulted in failure. Staff successfully replaced the cracked layer over the lens, diagnosed broken camera lens that can be replaced by warranty, and expertly discerned failure to scan QR codes was due to camera settings resolved via camera configurations. Very helpful and expeditious. I would recommend this business. read more

DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR DEVICE HELD HOSTAGE FOR 20+ HOURS AND STILL NOT FIXED! I would give zero stars if I could. I set up a claim with my phone insurance and had planned to bring my phone into this location. Choosing this location was mistake number one. I'm bringing my phone in the store and I explained the issue that I'm having and they say they're just gonna swap out the battery and if that doesn't work, I'll be able to file a replacement claim with my insurance. The associate "Hunter" (because they refused to give me the associates name, the "manager" went in the back and asked for a random name to give me) Told me that they would call when the phone was ready. Fast-forward to 645 no one calls me so I called them at which point they told me That they could not fix my phone due to the issue I told them it had prior to me, dropping it off, and that they were closing. I informed the associate that I was three minutes away from the store, and to please stay open for one minute so that I can pick up my phone. They refused, Even after they admitted to never calling me and telling me my phone was ready prior to their closure at 7 PM. When I arrived at the location, the associates were still standing around outside and refused to open the door to give me my phone and told me I have to come back at 10 AM the next morning. When I came back the next morning, I was finally able to pick up my phone now at this point going 20 hours without one. We complained to the manager about them holding my phone hostage overnight and the manager refused to give me the associates name, even though the associate was there in the back, laughing with his coworkers, and said that they would have an internal conversation. This is an absolute ridiculous way to run a business, and I will never return to this location and I suggest you all do the same. read more

I came in for a phone warranty from Samsung and told the dumb kid working here i had a battery over heating issue. Then I asked him if he could look up my imei and check my warranty which he didnt bother to do. He took a look at my phone and said it was scratched and that automatically makes the phone void of my warranty. If he looked up my phones info his dumbass could have figured out i have alot of coverage accidental damage included. This idiot also said because its scratched it can effect the battery. When my bezel wasn't scratched my phone would still overheat At the end of the day this company has unskilled and useless workers. They will try to up sell you repairs you dont need. I go in for a overheating battery and this clown tries to sell me a screen and bezel for 700 when there are zero issues with my screen. I dont know how this place stays in business. this review is for the location in Delray Beach I went there on Saturday and ordered the back of the that I would've been there on Monday at 5 PM. The guy that was there did not set any expectations with How long explain anything about ordering the part when I got there on Monday. The first thing you said to me was you did not have an appointment I said, of course. I told you I would've been here at 5 told to have a seat and wait until 630. I could not wait until 630 and ask for a refund. The people here are very rude and unprofessional. They don't set expectations they don't explain anything to the customer.
