We got back from a trip to discover my son's iPad screen had shattered, so despite all the extremely negative reviews of this location, I decided to give it a try. The total was almost $200 to replace his screen. They got it done within 24 hours, which was great! I did NOT get the insurance because there were an insane amount of loopholes where the store wouldn't be responsible for fixing it again....and again, I read all the negative reviews that said not to do the insurance. It has now been about 3 weeks and THIS GIANT HOLE happened. Yes, my son is 7 but there is no way an iPad screen should break like this. This was obviously a mediocre fix with horrific quality materials. So, now I'm out $200 AND have to pay to replace the entire device anyway. Appalling Service. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Don't be fooled by their so-called "certified" status--it means absolutely nothing when it comes to actually helping customers. Lesson learned: I should've read the reviews more closely. I went through my phone manufacturer website to schedule an appointment at this location for warranty repair. The day of my appointment I went in the morning. They were a bit late to open but I guess someone had called out. No problem. I got checked in and handed over my phone. I was asked to give another number to contact when it was ready so I gave my husband's and was told it'd be done in 4-5 hrs. After some time I called to try to check the status but no one answered the phone. About 5 hours later I still hadn't heard any news, so I used the code on my receipt to check the status and it looked like it was done. Called again and still no answer on the phone. We decided to just go to the store to pick it up. Well we got to the store and they were closed. It was about 5 pm and store hours are posted until 7 pm...I guess because it was nearly a holiday they closed early. The thing is no one told me they were going to close early when I took my phone in and no one called me to go pick up my phone. Again kept calling and no answer, so I sent an email too. Next day same story, tried calling all day but no one answered. I texted and called my own phone asking someone to contact me at my husband's number and even remote locked it but still nothing. Then we went to the store around midday and it was still closed, leaving me phone less for another day. Day 3 we didn't even bother calling and went straight to the store right around opening time. Thank goodness they were finally open. I took my phone and left with no explanation or apology. Since my phone was left at the store for two days powered on my phone was completely dead. Once I turned it back on I found that they had texted and called my own phone number...to the phone they had in their possession! I understand that they are understaffed, but communicating information about closing early and when a phone is ready to be picked up are basic things. I will not be back. read more

Came to replace a battery that was worn (79%) but still functioning based on a recommendation from Att. Tech broke cracked my screen. Said "sorry" and left me with a phone that was worse than it started. Had to call and sit on hold to get shipped a replacement the next day no correspondence of help from The on site tech. That should have been automatic but instead I had to waste even more time sitting on hold. If fixing a battery results in cracked screens at least have them On hand instead of turning my okay functioning phone into E-waste. Experience during second stay at home order Dec 12/Jan 7. My husband's battery in his Pixel 3XL bloated rather suddenly and unexpectedly. Having gone through this before with my own Pixel 3XL, I tried first initiating repairs through Google Store. (In my case, it was covered under warranty and sent me a refurbished phone.) They do not allow shipment of (out of warranty) repairs with bloated batteries and directed me to their nearest authorized repair facilities, uBreakiFix. I called the Fremont shop because they are the closest location. They gave me an estimated repair cost and said if we wanted to come down right then, there were only 5 people in line. I replied that we were over an hour away and would come down the following morning. The next morning we arrived shortly after they opened (10am) and there were four people in line. When he finally got inside, he was told that it was a 50/50 chance of repairing the phone and replacing the battery. If the phone could not be repaired, there would be no charge. Okay, cool. He also brought his Apple 6s+ phone to replace a cracked screen which they said would not be a problem. They quoted a four hour repair time and said they would call with any updates, so we went around the corner to grab a bite to eat then off to Target for a few items. Two hours after dropping off the phones they called and said the repairs were completed. The young lady who called said that if we came "right now" there was no one in line or in the store. We were there within 10 minutes of their call and did not have to wait to get in. Overall, it was a very smooth transaction. The staff was professional and repairs were done in a timely manner - in fact, sooner than originally quoted. Both phones are in working order again. Covid protocols: Only two customers are allowed inside at a time, one at the counter, another sitting inside near the door. Customers waiting outside self distanced themselves. Hand sanitizer available both just inside the door and at the service counter (it smells like plumeria!) So yeah, there might be repair shops closer but it was a nice day, and we got out of the house for a few hours. And since I rarely get down to this part of the bay, it was a nice outing. read more

This repair shop should be renamed IBreakUPay. Photos to be uploaded soon. I visited the shop on Sunday November 5th around 1pm. Store mentioned that they could glue my Samsung Galaxy S10+ for free after I reported the phone had mysteriously split along the side seams (phone was encased in protective case with protective glass screen since purchase in June 2019). The store looked at the phone and said the battery needs to be replaced for $84 But in addition to this upsell, the store requested that I provide the phone passcode so the technician can have full access to my Gmail, Google Pay, Coinbase, Google Drive, etc in order to run "diagnostic" on the phone. They claimed that they are Samsung officially authorized store so this is the protocol. Upon picking up my phone around 4:30pm the same afternoon the store mentioned that they took off the screen protector to clean the front screen and the camera lens for their "diagnostic". Phone appeared to work fine and looked almost brand new as the way I kept it. I took the phone home and the following morning the screen went dark. The Samsung was still getting notifications but the screen was completely dark. I called the same store and they mentioned that maybe a connection was loose so they can repair. Upon bringing the phone back on Tuesday November 7th at 10:30am the store informed me that the screen had failed. They quoted me $250 for the repair and refused responsibility. The store wants me to believe that my Samsung phone which I kept in almost perfect condition without any screen issues for 4.5 years suddenly experienced a fatal failure on the screen functionality just around 12 hours or so after I had the Samsung phone battery changed. The store did refund my battery replacement charge of $84 but denied any responsibility for the screen failure. The store, however, is willing to repair the screen failure for $250 plus additional taxes and fees. Would most people reading this post believe the store's assertion that I just happen to have the worst luck having the screen fail within 12 hours after the battery replacement, and the store is not at all responsible for the screen failure. I will attach photos showing the store acknowledgement that the phone appears in near perfect condition. The protective glass for the screen had cracks but the screen is immaculate. The store manager is very knowledgeable and very kind to greet me. He is also the technician who repair the screen. He kindly reminded me to put the phone in the repair mode, so I don't need to provide him any personal pin code and no concerns to lose any personal data on the phone. My phone was only in the water for two seconds. I MY PHONE WAS ALWAYS WATERPROOF BEFORE. My screen was only cracked. Or if there was another issue that did not guarantee my phone was WATERPROOF ANYMORE ubreakifix should have caught that before I spent OVER $300 . I arrived at around 3:35pm after being told that it would take 2hours to repair my phone. I left at 9pm with pWhen I arrived, I needed to wait about 20mins because their check process literally took at least 10mins. Even for picks up, it nearly took as long. Anyway when it came to my turn, they asked me for my personal pin to my phone. When they explained why, I understood but this should've been disclosed when I called and on their website. Anyone with access to your phone has all kinds of access including photos and personal email, not to mention any accounts that you have auto log in set to. Therefore, I told them I needed to go thru my phone to make some changes. I was told to step aside while they helped another customer. This next customer took at least 15 minutes AFTER i stood there obvious and waiting for them to get back to me. So after a total of 45 mins from the time I first arrived, they checked my phone in at 4:30pm and I was told my phone would be ready by 7pm. So I had an appointment just to get a simple battery replacement for my Samsung Fold 3, I get there and get told not only do they don't just replace the batteries, they have to charge $150 to replace the front screen because they can't open it properly (?!?!) and on top of that they charge a non refundable diagnostic fee of $50 when on the website it says diagnostics are free and no hassle. When our daughter tried to use the home button because it was blocked by a part of the glass that they installed, the glass cracked again starting from the home button. I brought my Surface Pro 4 tablet in. The battery was bloated and it was pushing out the screen. The tablet did, though, work. I brought it in and, after pitching the "at home warranty" on all my electronics, I finally got them to give me a quote for the fixing the tablet, $500. I said yes. That was a month ago. About 5 days ago I received an email that said that the tablet could not be repaired. I called them after receiving the email and they said there would be no charge and to come pick up my tablet. Today I went in to pick up the tablet. They said they would retrieve it from the back and I said "hey please plug it in to make sure it works." After about 10 minutes they came back with the tablet. The screen is now chipped and cracked (see photo). I guess this was done to attempt to replace the battery. But the worst part is, the machine doesn't work at all. Then the manager, who had again tried to pitch the home warranty said, "Oh, I remember now, sometimes replacing the battery shorts out the machine and makes it unusable. I am sure you were told this before." WTF? I replied that I was NOT told this. I was told they'd fix my machine. She said she'd "escalate" the case and would "track down" the employee. I said "track down? It's right there on the receipt!" She looked a little flustered and said "oh, so it is. He no longer works here." Then I said -- "look, I came in with a machine that worked. Now it doesn't work. That's your fault". Then she said -- "let me see what I can do" and disappeared in the back. Then she came back and said "I can discount the repair work we did." I cracked my Pixel 3A phone screen a few months back and was reluctant to send my phone into Google, not knowing how long it would take given everything going on with COVID. Google's website offered their official contracted vendor, uBreakiFix as an alternative, so I figured that this would be the quickest and easiest option. Sadly, at that time (in April/May of this year), it was hard to get a hold of people in this branch as well as all other branches of uBreakiFix in the Bay. Probably limited hours, staffing, quaranting, etc...you name it -- phone calls were not being picked up. And for that reason, I held off on fixing my phone for a few months. Finally, I decided to give uBreakiFix another try yesterday, and to my surprise experience was very smooth. I called them up (yes, they picked up this time!) and asked for a price quote, which was what was charged at the end ($136 for my screen to get replaced, including parts and labor). It was also comparable to the price found online, so no discrepancies there. My repair took a little under the quoted 2 hours time frame. Communication was also great. As an FYI this is the only location of uBreakiFix in the East Bay - so if you live in the northern tips of the East Bay, then this location will be the closest to you to get your Google phone fixed locally. Granted you technically can go to any cell phone shop to get your phone fixed; but if you want your phone to still be under warranty, then uBreakiFix is your only option. All other uBreakiFix locations are in the South Bay, and there are none in San Francisco. read more

Don't bring your stuff here to get fixed, very bad experience with what started as a working tablet with a glitchy LCD and ending with a bricked, un-useable tablet that kept resetting every couple minutes more than a month later that's so messed up it's going into the trash. -I have called the corporate number about how long my repair was taking and the lack of communication. They told me this is an owner-owned location and they had very little say over how the business is run. -The only decent communication I had was when I first brought it in, after that when I brought it back to fix new issues their "repair" caused I 100% had to follow up every time. Never got an update or status and felt stressed. -At one point I was told my tablet was not at the location and at the technicians home? Your staff cheated me to purchase Asurion $24.99/month on December 10,2021. I can not claim in my situation. I paid around $350 to repair the screen on January 18,2022. the keyboard replacement still need it. They said change is $269.99 for it in March 2022. Technician didn't backup my dates before March 28, 2022. I refused to repair and pay more money on this old laptop. When I collected the laptop back on April 2, 2022, my laptop became fully garbage. I brought 3 devices to uBreakiFix. One had a cracked screen and all 3 needed screen protectors. For the cracked screen, there were some issues sourcing the parts.  The location I went to (Santa Clara) called other locations in the area on my behalf to locate a store that would have everything I needed. As for screen protectors, they told me not to use the kind that looks like a clear sheet of plastic or glass. They recommended instead a product called "Liquid Glass," which they sell and install.  So I took their advice and had them put liquid glass on all the devices. The repair was perfect. The liquid glass installation was fast.   My phone is finally protected from drops, which are pretty frequent with me, as well as more serious issues. I recently dropped a large metal tool directly onto my phone from a few feet up. There still is not a scratch on the screen.   There are a lot of good quality phone screen repair places in the area. I wrote another 5-star review for a place in Campbell which is very good as well. UBreakiFix is one of the best. Their employees provided excellent customer service, recommended high quality products, and performed fast, quality work. TLDR: They bricked a 2K phone They should rename this location Barnum and Baileys because it has more clowns than the circus. Twice I was bamboozled by the staff at this location driving 45 minutes each way to bring in a Samsung for repair. Both times the same incompetent young woman told me that she would have to investigate water damage on the phone. This made no sense because the phone screen broke because I dropped it in the ground, not water. When I finally was told it could be fixed, they could not check the phone in because of an issue with the IMEI number. After getting on the phone with Samsung, they were able to create the ticket for repairing themselves which the staff here could not seem to accomplish. When I finally came back for THE THIRD TIME to get the phone fixed the same incompetent young woman was like "I have to check for water damage." I nearly lost it, how are you going to not resolve this same issue that I have already resolved THREE TIMES AND WASTE MY TIME. Without exaggeration, that was 4.5 hours of my time driving back and forth to get there. I should have just left because when they finally did the repairs, they did them in record time IE they did not do a good job. Whatever parts they used to do the repair or whatever shoddy workmanship they did has left my phone unable to hold a charge. When I talked with other staff at a different Ubreakifix location, they said it should not have been such a fast job and that a solid repair takes at least twice as long if not longer. I love about 40 minutes away, brought a phone here for a cracked screen and was told over the phone a replacement part was in stock. When I got in they said they had to order it and it would take about a week. A week goes by and I had to call to follow up, no one seemed to have ordered the screen so I had to wait another week. Went to this place to see why my charging port wasn't working and figured it was just an issue with dust and lint being stuck in there. A simple check or clean would've been good but i don't even think they checked at all. They straight up told me it was a charging port issue and wanted to charge 200$ to change it. So i left. Went across the street to Mobile Kangaroo (shoutout mobile kangaroo) and they actually checked, cleaned the port, and resolved the issue. Charging port worked. Lied to me about the Asurian account. Told me that by signing up for it I wouldn't be charged immediately. They told me that my repair would only take an hour instead of two hours if I signed up with a grace period so I mistakenly trusted the lady up front. When I got home to cancel, they force you to call where the person over the phone tries to talk you into keeping the account before they cancel. I found out I had been charged immediately also which made the lady up front a liar. How about just giving your customers good service and not lie to them or take advantage? My screen was damn near ready to fall off my phone after a hard drop! I came in yesterday about 6:35pm, worried that t was too close to closing and I'd have to come back. They were able to take my phone in and replace the screen within the hour. The guys working did happen to say that it was a little less busy than usual though. The customer service by the two guys that helped me- awesome. Call me old fashioned, but I'm big on customer service. The guys were super friendly.
