The Ingalls physician office and urgent care in Flossmoor may be above average, but after 2 stays at the Ingall's main hospital in Harvey I would not give a passing grade. Health care today leaves you little options as to where you can go. I like my doctor, but now have to question wheter I should make a change because of his affilliation with Ingalls. I guess the surgeon did a great job for my recent hernia operation, but the staff and room accomodations with totally inadequate. For example, the nurse call button might as well be a joke. Seldom woudl a nurse come within an hour if called. They also leave their cell phone extensions as a way to contact them. I tried that twice, it rang about 30 times with no pick up once, and was transferred to an operator once. The list of problems is very deep, starting with a nursing staff that is either too busy or improperly trained. The rooms are small and have that sterile 60's look. I'll do my best to avoid in the future, but unfortunately the south suburbs aren't exactly teaming with top rated hospitals. read more

My review is based on my experience with the Ingalls Memorial Hospital Payment Processing Center. I wish I could give it 0 stars...for a payment processing center I am quite amazed how mathematically challenged the staff is. During my visit, I received a written estimate of amount to be owed with a note stating that if I pay in full, I will receive a 20% discount - great - so I pay the $300 estimate in full and with the discount ended up paying out of pocket $240 on the day of the visit...Then few weeks later I get a bill in the mail stating that taking insurance payment into account my total bill is more like $800 of which $240 was already paid and I still owed $560...And this is where the fun starts...I called the payment processing center to have them apply $300 rather than $240 since they offered me a 20% discount on the day of the service...So that I really owed them $500 and not $560...Well after an hour on the phone with three different employees, two of whom were supervisors/managers, I believe we have resolved the issue but I am only so optimistic because I have yet to see a written confirmation...Apparently the staff is unable to reprint a corrected statement and is not able or willing to put anything in writing confirming that now the account has been paid in full. All of this would not have been an issue if it wasn't for the fact that while on the phone with this payment processing center, I have been threatened with collection agencies and overall have been treated very rudely. read more

Delivered my baby, had a c-section 12/26/14. The actual doctor and nurses who took care of my baby immediately after the delivery were awesome... however, once I got back to my room, I guess I got the holiday staff. After my surgery I was given a labor and delivery bed instead of a Bed. I was extremely uncomfortable and was told the last day of my 3 day stay that I was never given an actual bed Additionally, I had to request the paperwork to fill out for my baby's birth certificate from the nurses. Luckily this was my second baby so I knew to ask. The unpleasant experience followed me home as when I went to pick up my baby's birth certificate from City of Harvey her dad's name was misspelled. Had to spend time on the phone with vital statistics in Springfield and get it corrected. read more

Don't let urgent care trick you into being sent here if you don't have a primary care physician. They will assign you a hospitalist who will get you out of pain and they will not try to find out the reason you are in pain. They said that's not their problem. I was discharged the next day and then back in the hospital two days later at palos where they found the underlying cause for the pain and symptoms I was having! I am fully insured but ingalls just didn't care to help! Waste of money and time! Plus, another ER visit could have been avoided if they had cared to help me! read more

My father in law was was brought to Ingalls Memorial Hospital a couple weeks ago. We were told over the phone he has cancer and that is was likely treatable. When we arrived at the hospital they told us that we should start planning for hospice by the nurse. When we called Oncologist he said that they are going to try treating it and he had hope. Later that day a neurologist saw him and was surprised that they were going to try chemo theropy on him. I think the hospital is clean, modern and may have a great staff I just wish they could all get on the same page. read more

My mom had a minor surgical procedure performed at Ingalls. Initially, I was so turned off when she said her surgery was going to be at this hospital and I didn't understand why she was going to this particular hospital, which I never heard anything about. Both my mom (the patient) and I (family member) were very pleased with the entire experience. EVERYONE in the entire hospital was very friendly and sincere. The hospital appeared clean and security surrounded the hospital The procedure was on time. I also liked how every person that was involved with the procedure, double checked her chart with her information, and everything was organized. read more

This location will scare alot of people away. I live in the North Shore of Chicago. Around Highland Park Hospital or Lake Forest Hospital. I can say with confidence that the care my daughter got after her birth was the best I have ever seen. All I am wirting on is the care of the NICU at Ingalls. My daughter is adopted and her birth mom was did drugs during her pregnancy. The care my daughter got her was second to none. The Nurses showed AMAZING compassion for both us and our child. They cared. I developed a deep bond with these ladies. I thank these ladies every day for the health of my child today. You cannot go wrong with this hospital. read more

Simply the best hospital staff in the area. Had lung surgery and they took care of me extremely well. Extra clean, friendly and they really care for their patients. Wait time very fast. Staff very nice. Charge way to much. I go see Dr Mohammed Shamshuddin in Calumet IL. He come in type on computer visit over refuse to give me medication but I get a whooping bill close to $3.000 for a twenty minute none exam visit . Saw this Dr many times. I was admitted to Ingalls on 11/17/2020 with the coronavirus. The ER team did a great job, which is usually not my experience with them. (Having visited the ER several times in the past few years.) The one thing that had a lasting effect on me, was the majority of the nurses and doctors were angry, as they should have been, perceiving the number of individuals that didn't heed the warning that a second wave was coming. I got covid 19 from my wife, who got it from work. I made one slip in taking care of her and on my 11th day with covid, I could barely breathe. After being admitted, I endured pain and uncertainty for the next two days. Nurse after nurse monitored my symptoms, but never inquires as to my mental and spiritual anxieties. I FELT AFRAID AND ALONE. Then a new nurse came into my room and wrote, "Grace 3731." I thought to myself, "Grace, that's interesting." She introduced herself to me, reassuring me that I would be alright. She took exceptional care of the whole me. She is a special person. To me, she was GOD's grace on me. So. if you are ever in Ingalls Memorial Hospital and find yourself consumed with fear, pick up the phone in your room and dial " 3731" and hopefully Grace or Mercy will answer, read more

My husband had arthroscopic knee surgery at the Ingalls Same Day Surgery Center in Tinley Park last winter. His care was excellent; his surgery was right on time; and EVERYONE was extremely professional! They sent him home with detailed, easy-to-understand instructions and called to check on him the next day. I'm happy to report he recovered very quickly and his knee is good as new! I LOVE this hospital! Is everybody in here made of sugar and spice? I think so. They make you so comfortable. The food is excellent too. My husband was hospitalized four times during his treatment for cancer, and every time, he was treated with the most helpful and compassionate care from the nurses and aides. I was particularly impressed with how coordinated his care was, with doctors from four different specialties working together to insure the best care. The added plus was their partnership with the University of Chicago, where they sent him for consultation with a specialist in his rare type of cancer, who then coordinated with the Ingalls team for his treatment. I took my mother to emergency room on 04/13/2018. They attend to her right away and finally admitted her to the 5th floor. Nightmare, on Saturday, I went back to see her I this big long yellow stain in the floor. I ask my mom what was it and she said she had to the washroom and press the button for nurse, no response and she urinated on herself trying to get the washroom on her own. I ask her did the nurse ever come in she said yes. did the nurse see the urine on the floor, she said yes. I tried myself to get it with paper towels until a lady was going pass and I ask for help. Sunday visit, my mom's nurse stated in front of me called if you need to the washrooms. Monday she had surgery, hit the button for nurse for assist, mother was in pain, no response. I went to the desk by the elevators where four employees looked at me but never ask could we help you. I stood there a long time until she finally a female said, you need something. Tuesday, I received a call from my mom saying she keeps calling the nurse because she needed to go the washroom, no response. I called the hospital to tell them no is answering the nurse button, what hell is going on? The operator tells me you can't call cursing at us. I told her I use one word "hell" and you want to act crazy. I told her how do you feel about your mother and I didn't call to have a conversation with her only to get help for my mother. This person kept talking until I had to keep saying 5th floor don't won't to talk to you. I finally got a nurse for her to tell me, I'll be there in a minute. I received another call 30 minutes later my mom saying they threw a bed pan to her telling her to use it. She had difficulties with it she urinate and mess all on herself. she was crying saying come get her she wanted to leave. they shut her phone off in the room so she couldn't dial out whereas she called me collected. I had to have my aunt which is a retired nurse to call to have conversation with them because I couldn't believe what was going on and I was anger that is how they were doing old people. All I saw was a lot of workers on their cell phone. In the emergency room a man curse out loud and said patients has rights you can't leave a person in a hallway and ignore them. He kept asking for help and they did ignore him. the doctors are fine but never will anyone in my family go back there. They don't want to do their job and nothing for the elderly. No money should be invested into that hospital and the employees names should be kept to never with the sick or anywhere near a sick person. read more

Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. It took me sometime to write this review, my 27 year old son was admitted in the hospital on February 22, 2017 and remained in their care until March 2nd when he had a sudden bleed that lead to his death. He was admitted with pneumonia and septis. He was not improving and the care was not responsive from the nurses to the doctors. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone as they do not take healthcare issues seriously. After his sudden bleed out he was taken to ICU and they immediately came to me to tell me he had coded. My son was irresponsive in his room right after he had this sudden bleed out. I will never trust the integrity or loyalty of this hospital. The pain I am suffering will never go away and they are today treating their profession as a paycheck and not being responsive to seriousness of healthcare. He was lethargic the entire time and they were not concerned. To Ingalls, let this be a lesson to learn, make some concrete decisions if a someone is not improving, maybe they should be put in the intensive critical unit, before they die. A mother who had full insurance through my employer on her child and still did not get proper healthcare. I am suffering this lost and the pain will never cease. read more

Brought pt in for heart problem. ER was competent, but hospital inpatient staff was almost worthless. Did not monitor pt or respond to pt requests. Very few patients in ward, but the staff just milled around the nursing station talking and laughing. Would not go back. read more

Minus the billing dept. our rating would likely have been a 4. Experience with the doctors and nursing staff, as well as the room- were for the most part all positives. Over a year a go my husband was rushed to Ingalls hospital in Harvey with a serious condition. He was treated and released within a few days. Multiple bills from the doctors and hospital, and explanations of benefits from my insurer arrived thereafter...with any hospital visit this is normal and expected. What wasn't expected was to receive a notice from a collection agency a year later, stating that there is still an unpaid balance from the hospital. A balance that was never billed to us, it's even understandable to suspect perhaps a statement was lost in the mail, but under normal circumstances- reminder bills are never far behind; stating that there is an unpaid balance, and that the balance is past-due. No such notice ever came. My husband, as well as I have worked VERY HARD to pay bills on time, and maintain a good credit. It is embarrassing and insulting to receive notice from a collection agency, as well as having our credit threatened. If we owe the money, we will pay the bill, but the bill should come from the hospital in a timely manner, with a detailed explanation of what the charges are for- rather than from collections a year later with no explanation. This to me smells like poor management. read more

I went to the emergency room at Ingalls . I was skeptical about going to this hospital, but I was having severe pain. I described my symptoms to the attending physician; he was very thorough and knowledgeable in his explanation of the possible diagnosis. He ordered or performed the necessary test and gave me the results before I left the emergency room. Even though I was there for approximately 6 hours, I felt that I 'd accomplished more in that one visit than I had in the last severl months with my existing health care provider and the series of test and specialist I have consulted with. The experience at Ingall's Memorial Hospital Emergrncy Dept was a positive one, I am seriously considering changing my health care provider so that I can be in the Ingall's network. read more

Most of the staff was very friendly. But as others have posted, one hand doesn't always know what the other hand is doing. My nurse went home sick and they forgot about me the rest of her shift. Records... a nightmare of unorganization and not returning phone calls and just not nice. Billing - BEWARE - they are always wrong, their contact hours are silly if you work, the payment portal and not able to check or review bills on line is horrible. Years ago they had a better system on that than they do now. I live close but really don't want to have anything to do with this Hospital any more... to tired and when you are sick, you don't have the energy to double check them on care or billing. read more

my aunt was in Ingalls she was very sick with cancer. I went to visit her as I was walking down the hall I heard this women screaming in her sick voice HELP ME PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME and no one came. I got closer to my aunts room and seen her light outside her door on for a nurse to come . I asked her how long she was asking for help and she said 2 hours .I could see the nurses at the nurses station laughing and talking . I went and asked why no one is helping her and they said they were busy . I asked 2 nurses in the hall and they both said they would come back only one did a half hour later. the older man in the next room was being released and he said dont turn you light on or ask for help . his wife told me no one ever came in to see if he was okay. my poor sweet aunt died there. And to add to it they said her papers got messed up and they said they didnt know she was dying! read more

urgent care is considered an emergency room so they sock you with a big bill. the hospital is dirty. had a stent put in and had to spend the night. the floor in the room was so sticky it took your shoes off. ended up walking out of the room to go home cause no one would come with wheel chair. the staff seems very friendly but very lazy. read more
