I typically use the Vallejo, CA agency. But this location had a significantly better rate for my booking than Vallejo, so I decided to go with Napa. Driving to wine country for any purpose never disappoints. Such a lovely overall area of Cali. Jackie, the lady running the agency treated me with courtesy & respect which was really appreciated. My car--a shiny blue metallic Nissan Sentra with only 20k miles--worked perfectly as a new car should. Major advantage of this location over several other agencies including Vallejo's is a handy after hours drop-off service. Park your return in the ample-sized lot surrounded by several new car dealerships and just drop your keys into the secure slot adjacent to the main entrance. This option worked supreme for me. Shhhh, but this location also has a free overnight accessible lot. Meaning you could--in theory & in practice--park your personal ride on their lot (loose gravel behind the agency and accessible via Silverado Trail). Drive off in your rental for the length of the reservation, returning anytime day or night to drive off your personal vehicle. But, I didn't work up the courage for that move, idk maybe another time? Personal cars left there overnight are at owner's risk of course. And of course, I always recco renters take out Damage Waiver Insurance for their rented cars. For the peace of mind of PRIMARY coverage, which differs significantly from SECONDARY coverage typically offered by your credit card. Something happens to your rental with Primary? Basically, just hand the agency the keys and they take care of it. Secondary coverage (if ever called upon via your credit card)=NIGHTMARE. You'll potentially loose a few years of your life in stress having to go that route! (Never happened to me but I'm hip to the fine print, potential pitfalls & repercussions of a damaged rental car without crucial primary coverage). This agency is also located conveniently on busy Soscal Ave. near major bus lines that can take you back to Vallejo (Line # 11) or even major transportation hubs like BART, SF Ferry, and beyond during normal transportation times: https://vinetransit.com/. After speaking to the guy on the phone, I understood that the website and local offices are not necessarily coordinated and up to date with inventory, no problem, I understand how this can happen. I received calls from Penske representative on Saturday requesting my arrival - it seems their hours of 9-Noon are only a possibility, and are more accurately based on "reservation time"; so be timely and drop ins may find the office closed. The truck inspection was as expected but for the "low air left front tire" warning. It was low, but not flat. I suggested I put air in as the office did not have a compressor and was told, "No, it will be ok for a day, we will do it when you return the truck." Ummmm, ok. So I took the truck and spent the day loading. The next morning, 7:30am, as I was preparing to depart - the left front tire is now technically flat! I called the Penske Roadside service and the wait time is 58min. I was offered the "call back" option and opted (of course) for that - who doesn't want to avoid that annoying music? I received the call back & was once again placed on hold then it HUNG UP!!! I almost wept. It is now 10am and I've called back as somehow the person who was supposed to pick up the phone (not hang up) was able to leave me a message as I was on hold (wtf?) I immediately called back the number she gave and the wait time is now 75min (I want to weep again) AND there is no option to call back. I'm certain I'm in the 7th gate of hell. My day is going to be occupied by getting this damn tire fixed as I will necessarily have to wait for the Penske repair person to arrive. The upside is I am getting a discount and will not be charged if truck is returned late, but, honestly, my time is more valuable that that and it will not be worth it. Never again.

In my Nov. 2013 move there was a (irreplaceable) glass pole shade that they broke and promised to fix, which has never been done by them. Also promises to pick up unpacked boxes to return to Cartons and Crates here in Napa. None of this has been done and it has been two weeks ago. The packing done by them was not clearly enough marked as to what the contents were and then the word misc. marked on it. As anyone who has done there own unpacking knows....there are things that one needs to find first off, and it has been very cumbersome and stressful. Lesson learned the very hard way!

I thought that was an exorbitant amount so had to scramble last minute to find another storage facility. I asked if a few wardrobe boxes could be thrown in as compensation for this error but was told they could only give me some scrap pieces of cardboard to use to cover my couch. I thought I would receive an email a few days before the move to confirm the date and time (which had not been advised) but I had to contact them. I also thought I would receive an email after my move to make sure all was good with the service received but again, nothing. Luckily, the moving crew was great and exceeded my expectations.
