'Desiree' checked us in but was quick to tell us it would "be a while because they were doing reports." We sat in the empty waiting room....for over 30 min with no one updating us on when he might be seen...in the EMERGENCY ROOM. His pain getting worse I stepped up and asked Desiree if she knew how much longer we'd be waiting as we'd been there for over 30 min. and his pain was increasing. (Waiting rm still empty except us). Desiree immediately snapped at me "You don't need to come up here with all that attitude!" (The only 'attitude' I had was concern for my husband and at no time during that interaction did I so much as raise my voice. I simply asked the question). Desiree then informed me that there was a shift change going on and we'd have to wait! In the empty EMERGENCY ROOM. I went back and updated my husband who by this time was doubled over. I stood up and asked Desiree if she knew how much longer they'd be before he'd be seen. "How am I suppose to know?" She snapped at me. My husband had enough and stood up to leave telling Desiree that it was crazy to show up in the ER and be forced to wait over 30 minutes in his condition because of 'reports' being done and shift changes. Bottom line: Fox Hospital EMERGENCY ROOM is the WORST! If you're having an emergency please avoid it at all costs, especially at 7:00am when apparently 'reports' & 'shift changes' outweigh the health and safety of patients having true emergencies. Side bar, Desiree literally covered her name tag up with her hand when I asked for her name. She finally uncovered her first name when the security guard walked over. We will be calling Bassett later today to report her and the poor excuse for an EMERGENCY ROOM.

I usually try to avoid coming here but my friend was having debilitating pain and needed a ride in the middle of the night. There were flies (live and dead) all over. The restroom was just plain dirty, like no one had cleaned it in weeks. The garbage was overflowing, the toilet was dirty, the floor was filthy. The computer in triage was covered in dust. The bed in the treatment room had crumbs, hair and dust on it. There was garbage on the floor from the previous patient. All these things are something that's easily addressed, but every time I've ever come here, it's always dirty. My friend was in a great deal of pain, and no one (not a nurse OR a doctor) stepped foot into her treatment area for hours after arrival and the pain still was not addressed. It was explained away by the doctor saying he was the only doctor on and was very busy. While I understand that they are shortstaffed and other patients with more serious issues take precedence, someone who is crying, writhing and moaning in obvious pain for hours should be addressed. The only person who offered any assistance was the triage nurse who got ice, offered heat, and brought blankets to help make her more comfortable. She was very kind. The actual nurse on duty was very cold and lacked empathy. When the call bell was rang, he seemed extremely annoyed. I don't know why I expected an improvement from the last time I was here years ago, but clearly nothing has changed.
