We had a mixed experience at Ukiyo in Savannah. While the food itself was good, the service really took away from what could have been a great meal. We waited an extremely long time for both our drinks and food, and it was hard not to notice that our waitress spent nearly three hours chatting with another table and socializing with coworkers instead of checking on us. That said, the food was definitely a highlight. We ordered the ramen, kimchi rice, wagyu bao buns, and a sushi roll, and everything we tried was flavorful and well prepared. If the service were more attentive and timely, this place could easily be a standout. Hopefully this was just an off night, because the food has a lot of potential.

The service was really great, the server was super knowledgeable of the saki menu and helped me pick out my drink. The food came out quickly and the vibes were really great. It's a small space but there is a lot going on and the flow is nice. Everything was tasty and the wontons were our favorite. The hamachi crudo was fresh but it was very basil forward. The only dish I wasn't crazy about was the Mentaiko Mazemen - it had very little flavor for the variety of ingredients, so it somehow ended up tasting just like buttered noodles. Everything else was flavor packed though.

Great experience in every aspect. Was recommended by several people while on a mini vacay in Savannah. Chef Mike is incredible, the food was great, friendly and attentive staff. Would def recommend to anyone looking for Japanese Fusion cuisine.

If you want to eat where the locals are, this is a place for you. We tried the sashimi platter, tonkatsu ramen, wagyu beef & yuzu sorbet. All were amazing. Wagyu was perfectly cooked, the sashimi was delicious and fresh. The interior is also beautiful- the burned wood from Japan is beautiful. The service was also great. Definitely recommend!

Very nice ambiance, and friendly waiter. Like that their concept is to bring food as it's ready. Food is on the pricier side for sushi, but the ramen looked more reasonable. Had a seafood noodle dish - I enjoyed it, but not enough to get it again, felt the sauce was a little one dimensional. The shrimp in the dish were super tasty. All in - would come back for ramen, but probably go elsewhere for a wider variety of sushi rolls.

Delicious! Everything we had was amazing! Great service! We've had the same server twice now and she was a doll, with fun earrings! Super accommodating when we wanted to move our reservation to earlier in the day. Great ambience.

The food here was pretty good, however, it was shocking how expensive every dish was. The portions were small for some dishes. For two people during lunch, we spent nearly $80 on two appetizers and two entrees. We were still hungry afterwards. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. It's just too expensive for what you can get elsewhere.

This place badly wants to be higher class than it actually is, which is funny bc a true izakaya is the exact opposite of the pretentiousness it gives off. I get that it's closer to downtown, but that's exactly it, but it's across the street from hip and lowkey Starland Yard and doesn't fit into those vibes. We came in without reservations on a Sunday night around 6 and was placed at the bar bc we didn't have reservations. All good there and to their credit the place did fill out by the time we were leaving around 730. Service at the bar was prompt and friendly. Sake selection is pretty good, Japanese whiskey selection is a joke when combining selection with prices. Menu was varied enough, and props for having stuff like okonomiyaki and takoyaki (had this, good but not great). I ended up getting the tonkotsu ramen which was solidly above average and featured some really good chashu. However at $21 a bowl, wouldn't be in my top 5 in Atlanta with prices upwards of 20% less. At the end of the day this place is fine, really, but just that. I wouldn't come back on my own accord but if friends wanted to I would accommodate.

Gorgeous establishment and friendly staff. Our waitress was attentive and provided excellent service. The food was incredible with the hamachi crudo being the absolute best. I'd come back just for that dish alone. We can't wait to return and try more items off the menu soon.

    Waygu brisket bao buns

Such a cool place to stumble upon. We were blown away by the bao buns, we ordered the waygu brisket. The buns were perfect! Both of our sushi rolls were great, it was refreshing to see a sushi menu with creative rolls. Sitting at the noodle bar is a must!

Amazing! The sushi, the gyoza, & the wagyu buns were so yummy! The service was good & it's so pretty inside. Wasabi martini was also incredible!

Ukiyo is fantastic. The sushi and ramen are both incredible, and the drinks are just as good. I've been twice already and each visit has been consistently amazing. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to again. Highly recommend!

Made a reservation and arrived early but was immediately seated. The host and servers were all friendly and provided great recommendations on the menu. The ramen and edamame were my favorite on the menu!

Calming and well lit atmosphere. Good wait staff. Food and drinks were presented well, but the ramen lacked a little flavor for me.

Service was too slow and the ramen took 30-40 minutes to cook. Ramen turned out to be very mediocre...

Excellent all round. Great food, great service - never disappoints…read more Excellent specials.

Brought some friends here visiting the area and it was also our first time…read more I know they've expanded but we visited while it was the smaller and quaint spot on the corner of East Bay. Very limited seating across the room but we luckily we snagged a reservation. Our server was very friendly and went over some specials with us before taking our drink orders and inquired about allergies. We went family style and started with the crispy tuna rice, marinated cucumbers, dumplings and pork bao. We added on a few rolls and ended with the sesame lamb noodles and duck fried rice. The dumplings were unique with this crispy shell on top and had a creamier sauce. We did have to ask for soy sauce which is usually something we expect to get right away after ordering sushi. He gave us one dish of soy instead of all of our own which I thought was weird so we asked for more. I enjoyed the textures of the dumplings but I felt the sauce lacked a bit in flavor to complement the dumplings. Crispy rice looked appealing but we were all disappointed with the lack of flavor, especially in the tuna mixture alright the textures were on point. The sushi rolls were made well and you get about 5 bigger pieces. The best thing we had were the cucumbers! Simple and delicious, packed with flavor. The sesame lamb noodles were also prepared well, and had nice flavors overall that were unique. We spent about $200 per couple which I felt was quite steep for the amount of food we got, but overall I would say we enjoyed ourselves but a few things just fell short on flavors.
