Okay the bao buns = fire. Otherwise everything was all good, just not the most amazing that I have ever had. Sushi all fresh, I just think they may be trying too hard with uniqueness of rolls but maybe that's their goal.

    Egregious amount of wasabi

Prices were high for what you get (crispy rice $24 for 2 pieces - average). Miso soup was quite oily and tasted like a completely different soup. Basic cut rolls were good, not bad, but for 17+ not the quality you'd think.

Great place for sushi and lunch stop since it wasn't busy. Too hard to fit all this great food in 8 days so we hit recommended ones that had lunch then. Being small glad we got this one in. Best sushi ever! My wife is t a huge fan of raw so her amazement of how good it was said enough! Tuna Siracha tuna crispy rice Soft Shell Crab Saki was good as well

If I could give 6 stars I would! Food, service and ambiance was fantastic. We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary here and are so happy we did. It was the perfect vibey spot. I didn't take a picture of everything we had but everything we had was spectacular. Our server Taylor went above and beyond hosting us. We gave him a budget and he picked an amazing variety for us. Kevin who was working behind the bar was super cool and nice to talk to too.

My family loved our lunch at 167 sushi! We came with a party of six and were seated quickly. The staff was kind to walk us through the menu as we had multiple shellfish allergies and let us know what could be made without shellfish. We ordered a lot of different food items family style, and especially loved the miso soup, the cucumber salad, the crispy tuna rice (although I wish this portion was bigger!), and the duck fried rice. My sister and I got the large omakase and the quality of fish was excellent. Overall an incredible meal! Be warned, the authenticity of the restaurant also translates to their size, it is a very small restaurant with small tables, and all of their seats are high top. I was worried my grandfather would be uncomfortable in the small space but he didn't mind.

Woah. Such a fantastic spot, we are obsessed. 167 sushi is a neat tucked in spot with bar seating and high top tables. Our service was quick and attentive. The food was amazing. We are still thinking about the The nigiri and the Dan Dan noodles. Cannot wait to come back.

Very impressed by the presentation, ambience, and quality of fish here. I LOVE raw fish, and lately I feel like every place I've been going I get a weird taste or texture and am icked out by their raw fish. That was not the case here. You can tell that they put genuine effort into quality fish and making sure everything is fresh. The presentation of the food is gorgeous and elevated, but the taste is even better. You will find very unique hand rolls here. The tuna crispy rice was to die for! The attention to detail here shows

Amazing sushi! Started off with the fried fish of the night. Crunchy and cooked in a sweet glaze, this was an amazing fish. Also ordered a few of the sushi rolls to pair with the special. Be sure to get reservations because this place has limited service and people know that it's an amazing sushi restaurant.

WOW!!! 10/10! I make sure to always stop in for a lunch when visiting this area and this place truly never disappoints. This visit was out of this world in particular because of their special - the toro skewers! It was one of the best things I've ever eaten - super flavorful and literally melted in my mouth. The oysters were also lovely and fresh with some nice sauce. The sushi and nigiri was great too- we had the soft shell crab roll and bluefin tuna nigiri. Not pictured, we also had the duck fried rice and spicy tuna crispy rice. Spicy tuna crispy rice was great but pretty standard. The duck fried rice was super unique with chunks of crispy rice throughout and scallions. We shared some wine - they have a great selection. Bar seating is comfy and makes for a more social experience. Service is super friendly - they answered all our questions. Highly recommend!!

Imagine sitting at the bar watching the chefs make amazing fun right in front of you! Then imagine it sears like 25 of the coolest cats lunching in Charleston. Now imagine the chef is just the kindest, funniest and most engaging guy- he's slinging octopus charred and stirring up miso made from sushi grade fish bones and seasoning things to perfection!! His name is James and the place is 167 sushi! 6 days in this foodie capital and this was the highlight!! The people! The food! The ambiance! I just can't even explain the magic! Selena was so quirky and cool and fun and made me (a solo diner) feel warm and loved!! Please come- feel and indulge in the love fest!

Wow. I am speechless. Coming from NYC I am blessed with great sushi and Japanese regularly, I didn't have overly high expectations for 167 Sushi but was looking forward to the meal. When I tell you this place absolutely blew my socks off I am not lying. It was INCREDIBLE. Each dish we had was delicious down to the last morsel to the point I was scraping the bowl. I had the Lobster Bao Buns, Toro Skewers, Scallop Sashimi and Tuna Crispy Rice. It was all divine. The Lobster, Toro and Scallops were some of the best dishes I had while in Charleston. Not only was the food great the service was impeccable. The man behind the bar (dont know his name but was from Philly) was a fantastic host and added to our experience. I know there are many restaurants to choose from in Charleston but do yourself a favor and put this place on your list. I cant wait to come back.

    Small omakase

I love this place and try to come everytime I'm in town. The fish is so good and fresh and the preparation is always incredible. I got the small omakase and there was a trout piece that the waiter had said was everyone's favorite and it truly was so amazing. For $50 wish there was another piece or two in the small omakase but regardless this is such a great spot.

Sushi was flavorful, large pieces of fish and tasted fresh. Our server was attentive and provided excellent service. The restaurant has nice low lighting and has a welcoming atmosphere. My rating is reflective of the cleanliness of the restaurant. We walked in and almost turned around and walked out because the smell was so overwhelming when you walk in. Now, Charleston itself has a slight smell but it's very unappetizing to walk into sour/fishy smell. We decided to push through and try it because it was down pouring. The restroom is a single room, gender natural restroom. It was gross. The floors were sticky and slippery. Again, the food and service were great but I'd suggest giving a little extra attention to the cleanliness. They do offer a good lunch special. That was a bonus.

All jokes aside, she really needs someone to teach her basic customer service skills and how to speak to people. She is very aggressive and comes off very rude and flat out mean. To her she may not think that and I am giving her the benefit of the doubt here because she really does lay it on really thick. It's sad too because the sushi, Hibachi, and food here is actually good hence the 3 stars. We dined in and the place was decently clean and looked okay but it was dead and empty and I can only assume it's from all of the negative reviews about the customer service. I honestly don't foresee this place lasting too much longer if she doesn't either get help or get better training on how to speak and interact with customers and I am just talking about the mere basics here of customer service nothing else.

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

They exist, but some of the best are so unassuming you can walk right past them. Shiki is exactly that kind of place--a small, warm, inviting restaurant tucked into a strip mall that feels like a neighborhood secret. Loc, our waiter, greeted us as soon as we sat down with water, a friendly welcome, and a helpful walk-through of the menu. We started with wine and sake--always a promising beginning. The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.
