I found it very entertaining when we sat in the upstairs/loft area to watch the guy who shucks the oysters! I think he must have shucked about 1,000 while we were there! OMG Espresso Martinis brewed with real espresso, not out of a pre-mix or can! Holy smokes did I hit the jackpot with a bomb bartender. Shout out to Rebecca. She was awesome! I was waiting for my flight to go see my Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoosiers win the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. I've been to Ulele plenty of times at Armature Works, but never at the airport. It just so happened that today my gate was by Ulele. The espresso martini was $21.50, but it was A+ for an airport. Rebecca did tell me though if you got a lazy bartender they might just give you some can espresso mix. If you get that then the espresso will be terrible. I also had a $12.99 Cigar City Lager. It was the standard Tampa Beer. For food I had the $20 club sandwich. Standard club sandwich exactly as it should be. I had a nice time here waiting for my flight. Our average airport bar. We didn't the shrimp appetizer served in a butter sauce. I thought they were panko battered but instead they are made scampi style with panko crumbs at the top. Served with small baguette toast ovals. Could have used a few more of toast pieces. Had a few drinks with my love. I will say the service made up for the mid app. read more

It's no surprise it's a Michelin-recognized restaurant and one of only five in all of Tampa, Florida. Major shout-out to Chef Chad Quackenbush (Chef Quack) for curating such an exceptional menu. I ordered the fire-roasted chicken with mac and cheese, and the seasoning across every bite was absolutely outstanding. My lady had the highly recommended Waterworks Meatloaf, while my cousin went with the charbroiled oysters--every dish was a hit. Dessert took things to another level. We shared the Bourbon Butter Cake and the Pineapple Upside-Down Bread Pudding with dark rum sauce, which my lady declared the best desserts she's ever had--and I completely agree. Our server, Josh, was fantastic, and the overall ambiance is incredible at the Water Works Park: bayfront views, striking statuary, and a welcoming, family-friendly vibe. Came in for a lunch and cocktail while on a layover. I had the Cuban sandwich with none other than crispy tots and I ate it all! It was so good! I travelled to Tampa quite often and on my way home I always stop off at Ulele in the Southwest terminal for one of the best burgers in Tampa Bay. What makes their burgers the best is the quality of the beef that they use, which great flavor. I also appreciate the housemaid pickles and housemaid ketchup. read more

I went for my birthday! It was a last minute reservation and on the reservation i selected it was my bday, however when i got there i didn't mention it and our waiter still brought out the prettiest truffles that didn't last our walk to the car! I ordered raw oysters and a scallop ceviche! The presentation for the scallops ceviche was so pretty. My entree was the scallop risotto and my friend order the grilled chicken. I wish i paid more attention to the names but since we were sat outside i spent a lot of time people watching as they walked riverwalk. Excellent food in an airport, you asked and the answer is definitely yes!! Heather didn't steer me wrong by recommending the blacken grouper sandwich even if the fish wasn't from Florida. This place is an outpost of a real restaurant outside the airport. While they have a limited menu the food is excellent. The fish was juicy, the roll soft and fluffy, the chips hard and crunchy served with a delicious romulade. It was the best $20 I ever spent in an airport for food and definitely recommend if your in the Southwest departure terminal. read more

I can't say much about this location that is different from any other bustling airport restaurant. It's open air, has TVs up at the bar, and you have to press the button on the table placards in order to call for service. The waiters are friendly, prompt, and get you what you need. I never had an issue with my order or my service, aside from the fact that once I needed my check split, a manager could not be found. And, as they were the only person who could do this, I cut it very close with my boarding time. But really, that's to be expected from such a busy place, and can easily controlled on my part by planning better next time. But I must say, above all, the chargrilled oysters are to die for. My husband and I had a road trip last year all through the South and this was one of the MOST life-giving dishes I've ever eaten. I needed to grab some lunch before heading back to Maryland but I didn't want airport food because why waste good calories on bad food. When I saw Ulele at the airport I was excited to get some local fare. I had previously been to the Ulele on the Tampa Riverwalk so I was expecting good stuff. I sat at a seat away from the bar and really appreciated the convenience of pressing the call button for the waiter. He was prompt and friendly which is important in an airport, especially promptness. Their cocktails and draft list were tempting but I stuck to water and went all out with teh grouper sandwich. I had it prepared blackened and found it to be a nice firm piece of fish with good flavor but not spicy. The grouper sandwich was served on a brioche bun with fresh produce and their signature zucchini pickles which are a bit unique. Overall, it was a tasty sandwich. Also tasty was the housemade potato chips. Usually I can push chips to the side pretty easily but these were addicting! Overall, this was a good experience and I would definitely return if I'm in that part of TPA again. read more
