Stayed at the Hotel didn't know where to go for breakfast. Decide to try the restaurant downstairs. There offered a Buffet or Menu. Restaurant was very clean in buffet area. Buffet had a large variety of options. I opted to order from the menu. Started with a Hot Coffee. Ordered an Omelette with spinach and mushroom, came along with Potatoes and Toast. My meal was cooked to perfection. Omelette was balanced with spinach and mushrooms. The Potatoes was well seasoned. Waiter Kept refilling my coffee. The waiter was extremely attentive. We used the coupons along with a meal and were so impressed that we dined there for breakfast and dinner a few times during our week stay. Staff there os very accommodating and professional. Resort-priced menu, but I've seen worse! My wife ordered the Superfood Salad and added shrimp, so that was a $32 entree. The salad had great, fresh greens and veggies. There were 5 shrimp, and they were nicely cooked. I had the Blackened Snapper Sandwich. It was a very tasty piece of fish and nicely blackened. The bun was a standard hamburger bun, which did not contain all the fish, lettuce, tomato, and sauce, but it was tasty. The fries were amazing! They were perfectly cooked and had a flavorful salt. Been to this place for company meetings and always thought it was really nice. The restaurant has really high ratings so we took a little drive over the causeway to give it a try. Open seating and not a problem getting one. Looking over the menu at all the yummy choices! We started with Green Tomato & Spring Onion Soup. With garlic focaccia crostini, cherry tomato. roasted garlic, topped with a little créme fraiche on top. Unique with deep flavors. For my main I got the Wild Florida Meatball Stir-Fry with Florida-grown brown rice, flame grilled corn & poblano blend spinach roasted forest mushrooms, Providence ground beef, alligator, wild boar, turkey, venison & pepper jack meatballs. Just sounded so unique! So many different meats and gator! Really good. So many crazy flavors but it worked. Deb got the Tampa Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich with spicy breaded chicken. Cilantro & lime slaw. Florida Man scotch bonnet citrus glaze, mayo and Saucy Rebellion candied jalapeños. So good! Crunchy and tender at the same time. It is hot!! Our server was so friendly. Breakfast is massively overpriced and not well done. The bufffet is $29 and just isn't very good. Pretty much everything is overcooked, and stale. Ordered a Bloody Mary for $13 and it's just clamato with a lemon. Not good. The eggs are not seasoned, soft the chicken sausage has an odd texture which is decidedly not sausage and the bacon was like greasy plywood. The breakfast gravy has tons of chunks in it that do not belong in breakfast gravy. They have ham and turkey on the breakfast bar instead of cured meats etc. If the food quality was storm related the hotel should have reduced pricing to reflect the poor quality they are putting out and lower expectations. If this was included buffet it would be decent for the value add to the room. Honestly a waffle maker with the waffle mix cheap hotels have would probably be better. Overall avoid for breakfast unless you are hungering for disappointment. read more

We had several meals here and they were all delicious. We ate here for dinner and for breakfast as well as just drinks at the bar. The staff is so attentive and nice. They always got us what we needed. For dinner I had the French dip burger. I will tell you that this might be the best burger I have ever had when it comes to taste. The beef, shaved roast beef, caramelized onions, pretzel bun and au jus made for an absolute 100% satisfying burger. I must give credit where credit is due. My wife had the green tomato soup and it was good as well. For breakfast we had the short rib hash and breakfast flatbread. They provide dinner like portions which are more than you can eat. The dishes are so full of flavor. Service here is phenomenal. I recommend 1823. If you go, get the French dip burger! read more

The selection is very good and the quality & freshness are superb. Great drinks, too. The service is quick and friendly, and the dining room is bright and clean. With all of this and a beautiful view of the ocean while you eat, how can you be disappointed? I only have teo slightly negatives. The first are the prices. Since you are in a resort, expect higher than normal prices. The second is the seating. The dining area is a little too small for the number of diners. There is an adjoining room, so I am not sure why it was not open. Over all, great experience. read more

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Tampa and stopped by the in-house restaurant and bar several times. First, they have great cocktails and, for being in a hotel, they weren't overly priced. I loved their twist on an old fashioned - my friend and I talked about them for days after! I also ate breakfast there twice - both times I opted to order from the ala carte menu - and not the buffet. The breakfast flatbread was delicious! I had it twice because it was so good. Every time I was there service was fantastic - they were attentive and checked in on my frequently, but also let me sit there and read uninterrupted for awhile. read more

Thrilled with the buffet breakfast, and my dinner here was exceptional! Many great vegetarian options. It was hard to choose. I settled on the crispy cauliflower as an appetizer. It was light and flavorful, and not drenched in sauce like this dish tends to be. The Oyster Mushroom Enchilau, which had corn and cilantro rice, was an amazing entree. It was a nice portion, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. A little kick but definitely not spicy. My husband had the blackened fish sandwich and rosemary fries. He reported it was excellent. Our compliments to the chef! Kelly was our waitress and she was great. She checked on us a lot and had good recommendations. I was staying at the grand Hyatt for work, and ate at this restaurant 2-3x during my week long stay. The first night, I ordered their short rib Mac and cheese and it was beyond delightful. Followed up by their coconut cheesecake, and just WOW! So flavorful and both items were perfect portions. Their wine list was solid, and I drank the canvas cab. I also had their pepperoni flatbread and Turkey club and chocolate during my stay and never had any issues or complaints. The wait staff was kind and fast. I'm local but was attending a conference being hosted at the hotel. We had one evening free before a Welcome Reception and friends chose to grab a bite here. The server was really great, he was friendly, did a wonderful job​ taking care of our special requests and separate​​ checks. I found the pricing to be a little high for what you got but that is not atypical of hotel restaurants. I ordered a salmon bowl; the salmon was light and flaky but the rest of the plate laked flavor. The quinoa​ was really bland, it was infused with no flavor at all. The blistered tomatoes added nothing to the plate nor​ did the pomegranate​ seeds. it was just not a memorable meal read more

I love the ambiance - right next to the hotel reception and the the comfy chairs are always something I really like to relax into while eating. I started with a "Refresh" cocktail and then for appetizers ordered a buffalo chicken wings. The plate with a few chicken wings, 3 celery sticks and a side of ranch. Both of us were still angry after finishing through the plate. Then we ordered a plate of blue crab nachos - I was very much looking forward to it, unfortunately this was a miss. The crab on the nachos was not a good idea at all and the dish was a complete disappointment. Beautiful ambiance. Top notch service. Super expensive food and very mediocre quality of food. Had the breakfast buffet while staying here at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. I thought the service was a bit spotty with three different servers touching base at our table and giving is no clue as to who would bring our check! Apparently, they had no clue either as we had to flag one down to request the bill...which was delivered by someone else Very confusing!!! The pricey breakfast buffet was decent although even though it supposedly offered omelettes from the kitchen, no one was available or ever asked if we wanted to order one. There was no one stationed at the buffet to make the omelettes as I've become accustomed to expect. So...short on time to get to our early Tee-time, we settled for the scrambled eggs at the buffet bar. For such a nice Hyatt property, it was disappointing to see such confusion in the breakfast cafe. We'll breakfast outside the hotel for the rest of our visit. Two stars is all you earned. read more

I had the fish tacos which were okay. The fish was minimal and the mango salsa filled most of the taco. The fries were nice and thin but way too overly salted. I had to drink four or five glasses of water after finishing my meal. For $14, I would expect a little more fish in the tacos. read more

I was very surprised how wonderful our food was at this lobby bar/restaurant. It is located in the lobby of Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. We ate here a couple nights, it is open late and the service is very good. Such a cozy little spot. We had the Cuban sandwich, and the crispy chicken sandwich, both had unique flavors that I enjoyed a lot. The second time we came we had the huge pretzel, so big and so tasty, soft and not too much salt. I had fish tacos, I wouldn't have got those again only because they were stingy with the amount of fish they used. My husband had the turkey sandwich, he said it was fine nothing too special. I was craving a burger, and decided to walk down here from my hotel room for lunch. The service was great, the waiter and I bonded nicely. I decided to go with their turkey burger with shoestring fries, garden salad, and fruits. I was a little bit disappointed with my burger, it was a bit dry, I decided to add bbq sauce with it and still was not satisfied. First, you need to understand that to us, there is nothing better than great room service. 1823 came out of the gate strong, and we were excited. Here is what happened: Thursday 27 June - Room Service - Turkey Burger - When the burger arrived: o It was 3.5+ inches in diameter o About 1 1/8 thick o Juicy and moist o Great bun, but we don't do much bread. Was still so good though Friday 28 June - At in the bar (you attempted to help on this one) - Fish Tacos - When the tacos arrived: o A little over blackened and dry, but good - Grouper Sandwich - We had to order two... o First sandwich - Very dry and Very salty. We sent back o Second sandwich - Still very dry, did not eat. - Fries - We ordered with both the tacos and sandwich. o We asked for extra crisp and no salt. o The fries both came out and were both salted (I know the bartender requested no salt) o We got another order of fries that were good. Saturday 29 June - Fish Tacos - When the tacos arrived: o Tacos were excellent, and not nearly as cooked as much as before (were quite good, but nowhere near the same as what I ordered on Friday) - Turkey Burger - When the burger arrived: o It was (at most) 1.5 inches in diameter (much smaller) o About ¾ inch thick (much thinner) o Overcooked, hard, burnt, and inedible (sent back again) - Fries - We ordered with both the tacos and burger. o We asked for extra crisp and no salt. o Both fries both came out and were both salted (I know that we requested no salt) o We got another order of fries that were good. What 1823 does that is great, is your breakfast!! - The first few days we had scrambled eggs and toast in the restaurant. They were excellent o Lincoln is your best asset in the restaurant o There is another lady who is worthless (older, very short light brown hair, etc.) - She could not figure out what we ordered - The eggs came, and I requested salsa - She brought "Selzer water". - I did notice that she paid almost all of attention to the couples that were older (ignoring everyone else) - The last day I had the BEST omelet from room service. We came for the breakfast buffet after getting up late. We had a million Starbucks and Panera gift cards but wanted to try something more substantial and convenient to our location. Our server brought us chicken sausage (free with buffet - they only had pork sausage out) and was extremely attentive and funny. She made us giggle when she talked about "porky piggin' it." We ate smoked salmon (not fishy at all), fun multicolored tomato salad, crustless mini-quiches, oatmeal with lots of toppings, etc. The coffee was pretty thick and acid-inducing that's the only huge drawback - And a huge drawback that is too. The service was nice and the food was great. It was pricey, let's be honest but we enjoyed it. We don't mind spending money on good food when on vacation - this place was in our hotel. 1828 is a restaurant and bar located inside of the grand Hyatt Tampa bay. Here's the good and bad with this place. The bar is separate from the restaurant. The bar is fully stocked. They had everything you could want. I would always folder a shot of grey goose straight. It was $13 a shot here for goose. I thought that was pricy. For the restaurant. I had breakfast and dinner here. The breakfast had a big Buffett for $16. You could order stuff on the menu aswell. I would order there fresh juices. Really good. $6. The eggs Benedict was $17. I dident order it again. It was ok. Nothing special. For dinner I had the mahi mahi tacos. $14 they were ok. I asked the waitress out of 3 items on the menu which would she prefer. She said the tacos. I went with them. There was not a lot of fish on them at all. It was 90% lettuce. The other people I was with had the salmon and the chicken. I personally thought the food was pricy for the quality. But you are in a hotel soo it's whatever. Overall this was fine for a short time. I think a lot of corporations have people staying here. I was in town on business and had lunch here. This place rocks. The service is top notch. There was approximately 8 of us that came to have lunch together and we were seated immediately. The waitress was extremely attentive and was very courteous and pleasant. She made sure that all of our food was good and constantly kept all of our drinks full. The food itself was good. My buffalo chicken sandwich definitely needed more spice, but was a good sandwich nonetheless. I really like the breading and crispy-ness of the chicken. The shoestring fries are delicious and you get a good sized portion. The prices are on the higher side, with me paying approximately $25 for a sandwich, fries, and drink. read more
