The Doubletree Bluefin restaurant offers quite an array for dining. The dinner options seem minimal but each selection is power-packed with flavor for the eyes and palate. Breakfast was elevated. The buffet option had the usual oatmeal, breads, and fruit. There was also the waffle station and I'm always afraid to make my waffle on these waffle makers. But it was perfectly crispy outside and soft inside. The oatmeal-yum. Not grainy. It was creamy-no milk needed. There was brown sugar, walnuts and golden raisins. I added the fresh blueberries and oats from the yogurt section. That took it to the level I wanted. The entire team was attentive making the service level one to return for. From the front desk check-in to the room service was amazing. Friendly, polite, professional are the words I have for my experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quiet, aesthetically pleasing, and there is no bad seat in the house. The lagoon view adds to the ambience. It it were not so hot, I would have enjoyed my breakfast outside. But I enjoyed peeking outside through the glass doors and windows. Come to stay. Stay to enjoy. Enjoy your stay! read more

Great restaurant if you are staying in the hotel. You wouldn't go out of your way to go here but the food and service are great. I had the shrimp and crab flatbread and it was delicious. The mocktails and cocktails are great. My friend's steak was good but it's more of a place that a family on vacation or traveler would frequent if they were staying in the hotel and didn't feel like going out. Never given a menu, not a soul came to our table, couldn't get silverware or napkins, the gentleman at the door pointed to the breakfast bar, which was mostly empty ( no bacon at all). Not much to offer someone who was paying $22 a person. Beautiful outside view but it looked like they had thrown the tables and chairs on the patio, no set ups at all. Ordered here two times as I was staying at the hotel. The food was great the service was questionable. I ordered a flatbread pizza and a shrimp Caesar salad last night. The flat bread tasted as if it was microwaved, but the salad was amazing and came with lots of shrimp! The salad was absolutely delicious. The bartender last night didn't seem to want to be there. Perhaps he had a long day and I know everyone is going through something, so my party gave him a lot of grace. He would get better tips if he just smiled though. He was a total downer. Not what people come on vacation for... This afternoon I went back and had a more pleasant experience as I devoured a Blackend Grouper Sandwich. I did order the meal to dine in the restaurant, but was given a to go box, which was fine because it didn't take away from the food. The person working seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and confused. He even tried to give me someone else's order. Perhaps they need a better POS system or table markers. I really wanted to give the restaurant a 4/5 but the first night's lack of customer service was just too much to over look. The Breakfast is Awful. And the service was dishonest I went to breakfast and was helped by a Sandy. They offer a Buffet or you can pick from the Menu. Because I don't like the wet half cooked liquid eggs the buffet offers, I told Sandy I wanted the menu in order to have my eggs freshly cooked. When I took the food up to my room, I recognized quickly that they didn't give me freshly cooked eggs. They took the wet liquid eggs already in the buffet, and threw those in a frying pan. I recognized from the taste immediately. The Eggs tasted awful. All I wanted was two eggs and oatmeal. I told her I don't eat meat. So I noticed that you could order side order of eggs. Sandy didn't offer this. What she did was charge me for the Egg Platter that came with potatoes and a meat. They substituted fruit for the meat but off course they brought the dry potatoes from the buffet. So basically the menu and the buffet are the same food. Nothing freshly cooked For them to take the liquid eggs that came from a Carton that sat in the buffet, give it to me and portray as freshly fried eggs and potatoes is dishonest. Really thankful that Blufin Grill serves food after midnight and is so close to Tampa International ( TPA ). This is located in the Double Tree. Parking is gated and since we dined and inquired we learned we could buzz for assistance upon leaving at no charge. Their menu is limited after 11 to burgers, a couple salad options and fish sandwich and takeout containers. You order at the bar. The burger and chicken caesar salad were both good. I had a business trip staying here and went to have a few drinks at the bar (We stay here often for business). I sat outside with my coworkers. The girl working the bar was great. The guy with the longer curly hair was not. He was very rude. Then at the end of the night he dropped 2 drinks off his server platter and they went all over me head to toe. I was soaked. He didn't offer to get me anything to clean it up much less to say sorry and rushed away not to be seen again. I was very upset but just finished my drink and went to my room to clean up. Horrible! Went on Valentine's Day, had reservations, on time. My boyfriend had reserved a table w/the water view for special gift for me. Walked in and there's a line of 6 couples ahead of us. Didn't see a hostess until 5 minutes later. She check 1 couple to and didn't return to the front until 7 minutes later. Took another couple to table and didn't return for another 10 minutes. Took 3rd couple and 15 minutes passed and she's no where to be found. Two couples ahead of us and 3 couples behind us. We went to ask a bartender where's the hostess, and stated something about being backed up in the kitchen, yet the hostess nor the manager could let the guest know of the inconvenience. Went back in and asked the hostess - it appeared she might not have spoken much English. Tracked down 2 waitresses - both said they would get someone. There was a breakfast buffet $22 and everything looked like it had been sitting there since opening (We arrived at 10:00 a.m.) Finally ordered - needed to track down some flatware. THEN the sea gulls arrived and they stayed. There was nothing to deflect them from landing on the tables. We moved inside. My friends order came out wrong. My croissant breakfast sandwich was MEH. We were staying at this hotel and got into town later in the evening gin a week night. We weren't wanting to change and go back out so we were hoping the hotel restaurant would be good. Due to COVID, they couldn't seat anyone inside, but we could order outsides and eat. We sat at the bar and ordered a burger and coconut shrimp. The burger was seasoned perfectly and the coconut shrimp was awesome! They had really great hours, so if your staying at the double tree, it's perfect! The staff seemed very unorganized. It was a busy night however we sat at the bar and it took an hour to get our food. The food was decent, but the bartender waitress was completely indifferent to our needs and provided limited service. We watched a gentleman sit across from us at the bar and he waited for over 10 minutes before anybody even approached him. The Bar was not even busy. He was basically ignored and when he finally ordered a drink, the waitress bartender went and cleared some tables and never came back with his drink. He went and complained to the manager. Long day ending perfectly. We sat at the bar and was quickly greeted by Gabrielle. She served up our cocktails, perfectly mixed. She mentioned some food recommendations and handed us a menu. Come check this place out! Don't be weary that it's a hotel bar even if you're a local. It's genuinely a very neat spot. You'll be able to catch sight of some dolphins at any given time! In Tampa for a night and this restaurant is very convenient from where I'm staying. I ordered Margherita Flatbread and Garden Salad with ranch dressing to go. Didn't eat, just had cocktails. Asked bartender for wine menu, was told " it's so old and outdated we don't bother handing it out". Okay then, could you elaborate on what might be my options? He turned around looked at wine fridge and mumbled two names. I ended up with whatever he gave me. Probably the most unfriendly bartender I've had in a long time. Let me start off with saying that this restaurant is actually a hotel restaurant, and we did not realize that when we first chose to dine here. Since I was responsible for dinner, I was hazed quite a bit by my companions for picking a restaurant at a hotel down the street from our hotel. Now, for the restaurant itself. We started with appetizers getting a nice mix of barbecue, cauliflower, wings, and calamari. The appetizers all tasted great. There were five of us, dining three of which had the salmon for their entrée, one had wings, and the other had their crabcakes. Everyone was impressed with their food, the portions, as well as the quality of its preparation. The view is looking out over the intercoastal way from a beautiful patio with a swimming pool in view as well. The only true opportunity for this particular experience was related to service. It wasn't necessarily bad service it just took longer than you would expect. The restaurant wasn't overwhelmed with patrons, but I have a feeling our server was fairly new to the game. read more
