I had my hair colored here a few times because it's convenient and the woman I've used does as good a job as anywhere else I've found for notably less. It clearly feels like a lower end salon but she got the job done. That said- I'll never go again. A few hours before a scheduled haircut we got a call from the stylist cancelling because whoever scheduled it didn't allow enough time. When we called to question why they'd just drop our appointment we learned we could see someone else half an hour later but it would be at a different higher rate. If they made a mistake shouldn't they honor at the rate we scheduled? "Yeah well I'm just answering the phone and I'm the other stylist and I won't cut for that amount." Well that doesn't seem right and I've been there numerous times and won't come back if this how customers are treated. "OK!" I received helpful advise as I was considering different options for a heat protector. When I was checking out, the attendant asked for my phone number which I indicated I would rather not provide. I was told that if I didn't provide my phone number I wouldn't be able to return the item, not even with a receipt. I don't intend on returning the item but find that is unreasonable for Ulta to only offer returns or exchanges in exchange for my personal phone number. I'll look for alternative solutions in the future rather than returning to Ulta. read more

Every time I visit this Ulta location the employees are never helpful. I came here a couple days ago with my younger sister who was wanting to try makeup for the first time. When we walked in the cashier lady said, "hi, welcome in." That was the only employee that said anything to us. So my sister and I picked out the makeup brand she wanted to try and we spent a little over 5 minutes looking for someone to help us to see if this certain foundation was her color. Nobody could help us so we decided to leave and go to sephora. I'm very disappointed with our visit. I have came here multiple times and every time I come here it seems to get worse. Upsell, upsell, upsell! The only reason I come to Ulta to get my highlights is bc I have a credit card here and my Ulta stylist in Tahoe was worth Ulta's higher pricing. Just moved to Bee Cave and made an appointment for full highlights. The quote I received in my email was $165. They also tried to tack on an added haircut for $50. I won't spend $50 on a haircut. My hair is thin and short and takes 5 minutes to cut. Came for my appt today and after this stylist insulted my hair bc it's damaged, he suggested full highlights (which is what I wanted in the first place). He said it would be $200. I told him I have an email quote that reads $165. He said he has to add OlaPlex to the mix. Now...I had JUST told him that I already use OlaPlex #3 and #6 at home regularly. Yes...my hair is damaged, but it's bc I have my hair colored/bleached! I'm not stupid! I told him no to the OlaPlex and he said he would be more comfortable putting the OlaPlex in the mix. Anyway whatever, these are greedy times I guess. Needless to say I walked out. I should have let him add the Olaplez then just stiffed him on the tip, which a huge statement bc I work in the restaurant industry. My Ulta style in Tahoe told me that many stylists are afraid of bleach. I'm thinking this is he case. I'm sure I dodged a bullet. What a dummy. So I walked next door to Daylilly salon, got full highlights, cut, gel fill, eyebrows waxed, and eyelash extensions, all for $240 plus a very healthy tip. read more

My family will never return to the store. We recently moved here about eight months ago and have tried multiple times to come to the Ulta, as is the only option in the Lakeway area for cosmetics and beauty. Every time we have come the customer service has been horrible. Every single time we have come to the store the staff just stands around and talks with each other. When asked questions there either is a big sigh or an eye roll or rude comment of, "I will be with you in a second". I am not sure who the manager is but attitude clearly reflects leadership in this facility. I would rather order everything on Amazon or drive 20 miles to the nearest Sephora. I will never shop at the store again. I actually even have emailed Sephora asking if they're going to be placing a store in this area. I have no doubt customers would rather go there than be treated so poorly. I have continually heard from others in the community about how horrible this location is & how everyone wishes it wasn't the only option, keeping sales up. Once there is another option, then how this store is actually executed will show, then maybe someone at cooperate will actually press their authority. So sad. read more

I had a scheduled Keratin treatment, booked over a month ago. I received a text a few weeks ago as a reminder on 09/26/22. There was an "opt out" of text verification request, but no request to confirm or reschedule. I showed up for my scheduled appointment today 10/22/22. The team said it had been cancelled on 09/26/22. I showed them the text, demonstrating that I had not been asked to confirm the appointment and I certainly did not cancel it. They simply stated "It happens more often than not." They apologized and offered to reschedule a different day. It is not easy to carve out a three hour window from a busy schedule. I am very disappointed in the absolute lack of professionalism. I will NEVER go there for anything ever again. Don't waste your time on this business. It is was not a chain, it would be out of business for the paltry handing of their clients valuable time. This review is for the salon. I get haircuts with Gigi and she always does a great job! She always asks what I want and will maybe give a suggestion based on how my hair is looking, but she always does what I ask for and makes my hair look healthy and happy! She also gave me a great suggestion when I was looking for a new flat iron and the one she suggested is awesome (only $35 by Remington - best one I've had in a long time actually and I've had expensive brands like Babyliss). The only reason I give 4 stars is because although I love that you can book appointments online, I don't like that to reschedule or cancel, you have to call in. But that's a minor issue. Stylist Frank Martin at the salon is really good at working with very different types of hair for haircuts, dye, and style. My daughter has straight hair and was trying to grow out a very short style and he gave her a great haircut while preserving length. She received many compliments and no one would have guessed it was a transitional cut. I went back to him for my hair and received a dye and cut. I have curly hair that can be tricky to cut so it falls just right and he did a great job. I am very happy with my hair color, cut, and the whole experience at Ulta. I will definitely be recommending Frank to my family and friends. read more

Went to Alan at the salon for a haircut. He starts off by insulting my old haircut but saying "he's seen worse." It was grown out but far from hideous. He gave me a shoulder and head massage that was so hurried I wondered what that point of it was. His shampooing was borderline violent -- I felt like a dog getting a bath! I was laughing then looking scared but he never responded, just kept shaking my poor head. When he was done he said my hair would be a "work in progress." Uh, OK. Thanks. I do get greeted when I walk in the door, but other than that, no one ever wants to help me. I can never find anyone working to help me. And I search! I even went to the counter hoping to find someone and no one was there. The only employees I saw were at the salon and I wasn't going to bother them. I worked at an Ulta salon in high school for a day (I hated it) and the salon is separate from the store. I would give this place more stars if they would be better on customer service. Allan or Cooper or whatever he goes by is AMAZING! I have ridiculous curly, tangled, messy hair and have never had a great hair cut until now. I honestly thought that I was doing all I could do as far as my mop head was concerned. I swear this man has magic hands! Now... he isn't from the south so don't expect the warm fuzzies with him, but he'll be straight to the point and he'll do an incredible job. Ugh, just wrote a long review and now it is gone. John David: Fast review. I have hair loss which means some hairs are longish, some are shortish, but no one hair is the same length. If that was not a hard enough haircut to make look good, add in frizzy hair which I have never had before. I have seen him twice. Both times I left feeling like my hair looked good and that I do not need to shave it all off (which I have thought about more than once). He is honest about which haircut would work with my hair and which one will not (even if it is one I like) and he is right. He is funny and fun to talk to. One problem, he is way too good for this salon. In Seattle I would have paid $150 for this haircut and it would not be as good. JD, if you see this - please don't leave. I will start up one of those "give me money" things and you would be surprised how many women would pay up because it is for a good cause! read more

I am an Ulta customer and happy to have the new location in Bee Cave since it's close to my home. I find the customer service to be very good. Whether I'm looking for tools, eye liner, makeup or lotions the associates are knowledgeable and helpful. I find the salon services to be reasonably priced and just as good as what I get at higher priced salons. The 3 times I had a cut/color/partial highlights/style I walked out with a smile on my face, and tons of compliments. If you're trying to tighten up on your beauty budget try it out. I had a very uncomfortable experience, to say the least! The guy, John David, who cut my hair was not very friendly, which made it awkward. There was an awful smell in the salon area, and on top of that, it did not appear to be clean. The person who cut my hair opened his drawer and pulled out a brush that was filled with several different shades of hair in it!! Like it had not ever been cleaned. He admitted that it was gross and started pulling the hair out of the brush and then laid it down on the counter. He began the blow drying process with a different brush (probably just as filthy) but ended up picking up the used brush to finish the job! I had a bit of a nightmare experience at the salon here I'm afraid. I should preface this review by mentioning that the stylist did apologize profusely for the time I was made to wait and did give me a free conditioning treatment, but the end result of the cut and the overall experience were still not worth returning to this salon. My appointment was scheduled for 6 p.m. and I arrived a couple of minutes early. My stylist said she would be a few minutes as she was running behind. She was cutting another clients hair, and then spent a good 40-45 minutes blow drying and styling it. During this time, another client had come for her 6:30 appointment. Around 6:45, my stylist finally came to work on my hair. The client with the 6:30 appointment began to pitch a fit about how she should have been notified about the delay (which I agree with), so the stylist said "okay, let me do you then." I was incredibly shocked and frustrated that the client with an appointment thirty minutes after mine was seen first. Honestly, I should have walked out at this point. I think I was just flustered about having my time wasted that I didn't want the wait to be pointless. So, I asked the receptionist if my hairdresser had any clients after me, because I didn't want her to rush through my haircut and come out with a bad result. There was no one, and the receptionist said it would only be 15 more minutes until I was seen. Finally, at 7:05 it was my turn to get my hair cut. The stylist apologized and gave me a free conditioning treatment without me asking for it. While I appreciated the gesture, I wish it had been a discount off the haircut and no conditioning treatment at all. So, on to the haircut itself: I explained that my hair was very frizzy and fluffy, and that I hate having all that bulk and poof. She suggested doing invisible layers in the back, saying that it would take care of my issues. Great! I then showed her a picture of what I wanted in the front, which were pretty wavy layers. She said sure, okay. She asked me if I felt like my hair needed more volume, and I said NO, I would really prefer if it lay flatter (I had already explained this to her). So she starts cutting, and as she is doing it she says something like, "See this is giving you the volume you need here." I was becoming really, really frustrated that she wasn't listening to me but I went along with it because I just wanted to leave at this point. She then trimmed my hair, fluffed out my fringe bang so that it looked like I was from the early 90's, and sent me on my way. I had told her I wanted the bangs pushed to the side. She didn't even attempt the layers or style that I had shown her in the picture. My hair was all one length. It was a trim at best, but I was charged $54 for a "cut and style." Admittedly, I should have mentioned that I was unhappy, but I was so completely appalled by the experience that I just paid and left. I actually went to a different salon that my sister recommended the next day to fix it, and even she asked me what happened to my hair!! Thankfully the second stylist was able to massively improve my haircut! Sorry for writing this monster of a review, but I implore you to not use Ulta salon. They may have a lot of availability and convenient hours but it is absolutely not worth the final result or the experience. Again, the girls at the salon were nice and I appreciate that, but I will absolutely never use this salon again. TL;DR : Waited over an hour after my appointment to get my hair cut, ended up getting it fixed at a different salon. read more

First things first, I've lived in Austin a little more than 4 years. It took me, TWO bad experiences to find Caleb. I actually ended up giving up after the second time a different hair stylist chopped my hair 8 inches "to blend it". I was actually just waiting to get my hair done until I went out of town to visit family. (6hrs away) there I had one of my best friends who owned a salon who was the only man allowed to touch my hair. I ended up getting a part time job at Ulta and after I realized I could no longer handle my hair, I took a leap of faith and landed in Caleb's salon chair. He listened to everything I wanted and ran with it. He's been my stylist the last two years, I trust him so much, I've sent multiple family members to him and no one has come out disappointed. I waited 8MONTHS this last time because I didn't want ANYONE else,but him to touch my hair. It took so long for me to come back because I am a new mom, I don't ever really have time. I'm so glad I stayed patient, he's is the only one that understands the my hair. He has been the ONLY one who can cut my thick,plentiful and long hair without any issues!! I love you Caleb!!! I just went in for a slight trim and explained I was growing out my layers only to have the stylist put in even shorter layers than what I had been growing out for 6 months.
