It's been nearly a month since my rather exceptional experiences at this Ulta location at Baltimore Pike in Bel Air. I don't know how commonly a customer will mentally hold on to the intention of recognizing such remarkable service several weeks on, but now that I have a quiet minute, I'm here to do so. That's how much their care meant to me. I live in New England, but I unexpectedly found myself in Bel Air, caring for my father in the final weeks of his life. Because my trip down was completely unplanned, I had only taken about ten minutes to gather some clothes and toiletries to throw into my car before making the drive to my parents' house. The circumstances of his condition had started to deteriorate rapidly. Though I would not trade that last stretch of time with my father for anything, I was heartbroken and exhausted by the time he died. As his funeral approached, I realized that I would have to get a few things to make myself presentable, to honor him. The last thing I expected from visiting a store in a strip mall was the degree and quality of love and empathy and comfort I found from the women working at this Ulta. My interactions did not end up monopolizing time away from other customers, but the stars must have been aligned to put the right people on the clock when I was there. I did purchase a few necessary products, but even more meaningful were the moments of humanity which happened while these women helped me figure out what I needed. Brittany was the first employee I met as a shambled mess of I-don't-even-know-what-I'm-looking-for. I am certain that providing customers with hugs is not part of the corporate training, but she carried her heart from her other job (as a social worker) and recognized that something was wrong. Her hug when I started to fall apart was everything at that moment. I had shown up right before closing time, so I had to return the next day to address my purchases. Stephanie was who helped me find what I needed the following day, but she did it while providing authentic love and support. She was empathetic, but also very uplifting as we went around the store. Stephanie, too, was a delight. When I was trying to think of what else I might need, Mandy was right there when I asked about brow care. Because of my family responsibilities, I had limited availability. Mandy worked in an appointment slot that matched my schedule. We also spoke of other services which could help me feel less frazzled, but the brow appointment ended up being the only slot I could swing. Nevertheless, I really appreciated how willing she was to make other things work for me. Bri was who dyed and shaped my brows. I've had brow care from some pretty high-end salons in Boston, and Bri was just as adept and accomplished as anything I'd experienced in those places. It seems like a small thing at a time of grieving, but it helped to feel so much more pulled together than how I had started out. I realize that this might sound corny or contrived to someone who was not there, but please know that my recognition of the care they gave is genuine. I'm not usually given to seeking emotional support in retail stores, much less remarkably good emotional support, but somehow, this is what I received. During that last week, as I was preparing to return home, I stopped by the store to thank these women for their love and humanity. I didn't catch them all, so I hope that this reaches them: My friends, please know that your collective care was much greater than the sum of its parts. Thank you for seeing me in a way I couldn't even verbalize that I needed. You will always be associated with the beauty that was found in a time of crushing grief. And thank you, Ulta, for hiring such people of quality and heart. read more

I did not like being followed around the store as a Black woman. I was already being assisted by one of the store clerks, yet another woman--who was white--was trailing me. She wasn't even discreet about it; everywhere I turned, she was there. I will not be returning to that location anymore. You already have cameras in the store, so I don't understand why you would go out of your way to make your customers uncomfortable. read more

Quick pick up after early morning online shopping. The only thing I was not happy about is the parking spots for "pick up"- where a staff member brings it out to your car- were taken by two people who decided to park their cars to shop and it was inconvenient because I was on my lunch break and didn't want to have to find parking to run inside and get it. read more

Will not be back at this location... Upon arriving to the store, I was not greeted just stared at. Then another person walked in, "another race" and it was all hellos. I still stayed in the store to see if anyone would ask if I need assistance and they did not, not even an Hi I ignored the situation at first and then went back to see if they had urban skincare RX and the one guy who noticed that things were off spoke, which I appreciate him doing his job. He thought I was being helped and shook his head with me as I was leaving in disbelief because he was stocking the shelves. As I leave the store a few other people walk in and the employees eyes the light up with hellos. - My recommendation is for this location to work on their customer service skills and to take some PD (Professional Development) courses. This should just be a learning lesson for all adults. If you worked during the shift on 04/10/2025 at 1:30-1:55 please work on your customer service or get out of the sales industry. read more

Associates are not properly trained to complete returns. I returned an item and they only credited me for the cost of the product, not the tax that I paid. The line item for tax was 0% and $0.00 even though I purchased and returned the item in MD which has a 6% sales tax. Refused to refund me the rest of the amount that I am owed unless I drove 25 minutes back to the store. That is completely unacceptable to me since this is fully Ulta's error. They also refused to issue the tax amount via a gift card. Double check your receipts if you do a return because they will scam and steal from customers and then refuse to help in any way. read more

Need some make-up or beauty supplies...well this is your place. I normally only shop from clean beauty stores but when they do the 21 days of beauty some items such as brush cleaners and such are so cheap I buy them from here. This location has just about any and everything you could need for beauty. They have a hair salon, and a brow area as well. I have never used either so not sure how their work is. The customer service is pretty decent. Sometimes they make me feel like I am being watched which doesn't feel good. I don't carry purses very often at all just a very small wallet. So I am unsure what would give them that impression but it is off putting for me, but hey I could just be reading the situation wrong and my curiosity for so many products could have them thinking I need help....who knows! *SiDE NOTE* Randomly I was writing this review and left it for a draft but Ulta and Credo have joined forces so now they will have an all clean beauty section from Credo!! I absolutely love coming to this location the staff is incredible on everything. They are so helpful every time but today I had the most wholesome experience ever I was greeted at the door my some BOGO mini samples of course I here towards the Tula brand and the lady ( now I'm so sad I didn't get her name ) takes me through her favorites because she was a fan of the brand as well helped me pick out some items (seen the new releases online ). Then I went to take advantage of the facial treatments they just started back up I was super excited, luckily they weren't booked on a Thursday afternoon btw :) the lady that did mine talked me through all the steps she was doing and the proper skincare after treatment she even helped me pick out a SPF. This experience alone will definitely have me coming back and bringing friends for the facial treatments and products!!! read more

I've been to this Ulta Beauty twice since moving to the area. And in those two experiences with this store, I honestly think I won't come back again. The first time I went, the customer service wasn't good. My mother and I had to deal with an employee attitude. For the second time it was even worse. I'm huge on collecting colognes so I went to the Blue de Chanel option. And the workers were just side eyeing me without even asking if I needed help or anything. As we proceeded to check out, the cashier had an attitude and didn't speak back or anything. I honestly won't come back if it's the same experience all the time. read more

I walked in to pick up my online order. The employee who came to help me wasn't very pleasant. When I inquired about the large bowl of Free sample serum she states that there "should be one in the bag already" then proceeds to walk away to help another customer at a different register. Well of course I stayed there to open my bag and see if the serum was in there because I didn't feel it through the bag. I was only picking up one item and she could have easily done the same. There was no serum so I continued to stand there until she finally addressed me and I politely said the free sample wasn't in there, could I please have one. She literally seemed so annoyed ! It left me feeling embarrassed... I'll definitely stick to getting my items shipped from now on. You don't have to be bubbly with customers but feeling like a nuisance doesn't make for a good in store experience. read more

There is a serious issue at the Bel Air, MD location with scheduling in the salon. I made an appointment for next Thursday at 12:00 and just got a text letting me know it was moved to 11:15. I can't make it at 11:15 which is why I scheduled it at 12. I had two decent services there but this is the third time in a row that they have just moved one of my appointments to a different time. They never call to discuss it and just move the appointment and send the automated text. I understand things come up and schedules need to be changed around but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a call to discuss moving the appointment to a different time that works for me, rather than just arbitrarily changing it to a time that may not. All three out of the three times this has happened to me, I haven't been able to come at the time they moved the appointment to and ended up having to cancel and go somewhere else. One was over an hour difference in time from what I originally scheduled. They also closed for snow one day and did not call to let anyone know they wouldn't be open. I went to the location that day and the doors were locked and there was another woman waiting who was also there for an appointment. I totally understand closing for safety of the employees but it's completely unacceptable to not communicate that to people who have appointments. read more

I actually prefer this location over White Marsh but it just so happens that the WM location is closer to my office than this location is to my home. Always great customer service. Ulta is more reasonably priced than "the other" makeup mega store, in my opinion. The parking lot has the tiniest spots though, although that's not Ulta's fault obviously. read more

When I entered this location I was: 1) not greeted when I walked in (even though there was an associate standing right at the door), and 2) not offered help in finding anything I needed (even though there were three associates standing in front of me, talking among themselves). The associates at this store do not treat all of their guests equally when it comes to customer service. There's a HIGH chance it's because I am a woman of color (although my money is STILL green). I say this because this has happened to me every time I've visited this location. I was getting ready to make a large purchase but I refuse to spend my money anywhere where I'm not made to feel as welcomed or valued as every other customer. I will not be coming back! Women of color, do yourselves a favor and shop at either Sephora in Abingdon or Ulta in White Marsh. Abingdon Ulta, realize that you should greet and offer help to EVERY customer EQUALLY. read more

Lead cashier Kayla in Bel Air, MD was extremely helpful. I made a return on a foundation I got and did not like. She took the time to ask what primer, setting powder and spray I was using then recommended me the Dior foundation. Kayla even walked me to the section to make sure I chose the perfect shade for my skin. She asked how I like my makeup to feel and if I'm looking to cover anything like redness or veins. We talked a little more about the foundation and she mentioned how good the concealer was also. I ended up purchasing both concealer and foundation. This Ulta location is much like other also locations in that it's clean it's well-lit and there's plenty of staff on hand. My niece and I were able to find items that we both needed although I will say the stock was a little bit lacking at the time we visited... Namely people have figured out that the Ulta store brand items are pretty great and that you don't have to pay top dollar for name-brand since Alta does a good job. We weren't approached by anybody on the sales floor even when we actually needed someone but it was fine we approached the cashier and were able to ask a question and get a quick answer. And all this is a good store...you can expect a consistent Ulta experience . read more

worst salon ever. went in to just have my platinum blonde hair regrowth roots bleached out and toned, spent $138 my hair came out yellow orange in back all of back and underneath was orange roots . the sides were toned dark gray. it took me three weeks to fix myself. I'll never return. i heard one stylist in white marsh is good but I'd never return to the bel air salon nor any other ulta salon. before Covid, they did great work. service was horrible. not offered a refund still paying off debt for ruining my hair. having to bleach out the gray and orange almost made my hair fall out, they have no senior stylist for color correction. i won't even shop at ulta right now. I'm paying interest too on ruining my hair. this photo is it up in a roller so you can see back in mirror and sides that are gray and top which is yellow mixed hues not platinum. I tried to get my money back from Ulta , Ulta corporate, ulta credit card they stole $138. it took $200 more to fix it. i cannot say how angry I am. do not go there. read more

this is a great location stocked fully with everything and now has a brow bar. I want to comment on the awesome staff. they let you take your time try stuff and shop. the salon is fantasic for styling services and keratin smooth etc. if you need a color fix go here guarenteed results. but id like to say it wasn't 5 stars because my price for bleaching roots and toning was way way above normal. I wont be able to come back unless they charge me normal root bleach out touch up services. w out toner I guess? I can tone it myslf. that said it was very professional done correctly. one small issues my hair was not rinsed throughouly enough but you dont have a separet shappoo girl thus it can be cheaper less pple to tip. most people would find my price salon $$ but , since its usually $80 for root touch up I dont see why mine was $160 plus tips. um yeah I cant afford that gurls I will have to go elsewhere but I dont want to they did do the best job ive seen at any salon. very knowledgeable stylists and colorists. for color I recommend holly. young but the best. please rinse out though more. my scalp itched and burned so I had to shampoo it all out when I got home. its ok job well done. worth it for my issues but cant do that price just for a root bleach. let me know if I can get reg pricing or if because I have very long hair its the issue thanks always come back fun store. candyland for adults read more

I really enjoyed coming to this ulta to get my hair done, I have been a loyal customer for many years going to ulta's in NY, NC and now here in Maryland. Always had nothing but good things to say, but today I was disappointed with the service and walked out of my hair appointment. I called to book a appointment for eye brow and conditioning hair treatment. eye brows as always comes out amazing, VERY a happy w the eye brow service and usually the hair treatment. I went to the salon, ready for a conditioning treatment I have had done before w a blow out with another hair dresser at this ulta. NEVER when I have booked with salon and not have a blowout. They informed me that I would be getting the conditioner and they didn't have time for the blow out, when I mentioned that I have done this treatment several times before with a blow out and never had to verify when booking the conditioning treatment to add the blowout, they said it's a 20 dollar treatment and this is all we have time for.... it's insane who is gonna walk out with wet hair full of conditioner? That's doesn't make sense, when I spoke the the manager she said well you have to add the blowout when making the appointment I told her I never have before, and why wouldn't they mention that...she then LIED and said we don't keep hair records of clients, that's a lie because the last time I was there I couldn't remember what conditioning treatment was and she said she would look it up. So there is no longer client profiles?? Also your gonna tell me you don't keep records of hair color and Treatments, I don't believe that. I have had a client profile at other ultas before, They made me feel like I was asking for a favor, when I clearly booked a appointment not a favor and why wouldn't you want to upsell if for some reason this was a new policy? Why would you not want more money????? This was ridiculous, I felt singled out and I am not ever returning for hair services. Almost every time I come in (which is often) it is hardly ever is stocked in some areas-especially in the drugstore region.

Benefit brow bar is the best! Christine and Cara are awesome and no matter who you go to you always get the same great result. I get a tint and wax regularly and never have a single complaint. Highly recommend but make an appointment because they have constant regulars that come in monthly so they book up quickly! read more

Someone helped be find everything I needed and she was wonderful . My bad experience came when I was checking out. I was asked for my email and I declined . The cashier pushed the issue even after I said " no I am good but thank you." She then proceeded to say " well what about your sister or mom ? What's their email address? " I said again " no thank you I'm good" The cashier then said " what don't you have a mom ? " I was Appalled that a cashier at Ulta was asking me such a personal question. Sadly, I lost my mom to an illness 6 years ago. My response to her was simply " no." I bougby what I came for; however, I will never spend any money in that store again thanks to the cashier. Ugh, was recommended makeup that was "just as good" as what I could find at Sephora. To keep it short: if you want what you KNOW is good, drive the extra miles to get it. Don't get the "it Superhero liquid eye liner". It sucks, can be rubbed off (opposite of what the store lady said), and has a crappy application. I'm down $22 and left with disappointing products. read more
