I attended an event in Charlotte North Carolina on a whim. At the last minute I decided to run by Ulta to have my makeup done professionally for the occasion. Luckily Jewel was working and she was able to fit me in. I was so thankful because her makeup and hair was outstanding. She didn't rush and she gave me some tips about applying my makeup. If I could give them zero stars I would. I ordered shampoo and Dior cologne. The shampoo arrived but the cologne did not. They contend it was shipped so they will not make good on their mistake. Won't shop with Ulta again. Such a bad experience compared to other retailers. Their CEO's guest services group wrote me today to tell me I was lying and I was out of luck. Have not been to an ultra in many years so didn't know what to expect. There was a specific product I had been looking for and could not find at other beauty supply stores. They not only had my product but they had much from that line. Also, since I did not know how the store was setup up I asked for help and the staff member who assisted me was very friendly and walked me over to the right area. So why three stars you ask? Because of the wait... Someone else was in front of me waiting as well. I thought they would have one of the many sales associates walking around to come help us while they current customer issues was being worked out but they did not. Just an update, it's May 2024. I don't go to the store that much anymore. If I do is only for one product and I don't have time to drive up to Concord or the one down independence. I go to Sephora after getting the old greeting that I used to get at this location. They have a a few good people there. I think I did not see the manager for 3 months. Most of the time I went at random times. Either in the morning or early in the afternoon. Each time they told me that she was going to come in or she was off. But the place is a little bit run down now. I mean Sally beauty store down the street is actually in a neat shape. I do notice that they're beautiful beauty bar in the back is well maintained. My guess is that's the money maker and the rest of the store can kind of fall down. I never saw anyone get their face done in the back. I'm sure the person working there is doing their best. The stylist I remember are gone. The new ones don't say that much and don't seem to be that busy. I miss both Chelsea and Jamilah. If you're looking for them I know where they are. Just hit me up. Ms Barbara, The esthetician also has an office nearby so if you want information just hit me up. My guess is, Ulta beauty corporate people needed some incentive to get their bonus so they created the beauty bar. At this location they did not check on the ingredients of success. So now they're doomed to repeat the retail stories of a store that has a revolving door as far as employees go. I do wish him luck. I've been going to Ulta for hair cuts for many years and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I arrived to my appointment on time and was told it would be another 20 minutes because Miriam was finishing color on another client. I wasn't thrilled, but ok. I ended up waiting for 45 minutes until she took me. I told her I wanted my hair very short and she didn't listen. She didn't even show me the length until the very end, and I didn't feel comfortable asking her to cut it shorter. She was clearly behind on clients and rushing to get to the next one who had arrived. She never asked if I wanted layers, face framing, etc. I had to ask twice for front bangs when she cut them as side bangs. I am incredibly disappointed with my experience and haircut. read more

There are not many Ulta locations in Charlotte. This one is super far from my house but Ulta is the only beauty supply store that sells the marula oil that I was looking for. I don't go to Ulta often enough to understand their layout, but things weren't labeled well enough for ease spotting. This location was super busy. The line was extremely long, I waited over 30 mins just to get checked out. Overall I'm glad they carried what I was looking for. read more

Came in to look st some black Friday sales. Young lady in fragrance took very good care of us. She was being patient and showing us a few things until we decided on what to purchase. The item cane with a robe as a free gift and had the larger size we needed. Upon checkout the cashier was very dry and did not want to look through the stack of robes to find the size we were told was available. Leslie came up to the register and said the robe is in the store, but there is no way anyone can look for it and we need to just keep calling back to see when someone finds the size requested. No come back later, no I'll let you know when we find it, nothing. Lost over $250 in sales because you just treated us like what we were told you could sell to us, no one cared enough to look or work with us. read more

Went in to replace some tinted moisturizer that I purchased here before COVID and they were out. But it was like pulling teeth to get Excellent Customer Service. I asked the rep could she check to see if she had my shade in the bottom locked drawer and they did not. She offered to check in the back and they did not. I had to ask her when was it coming in again...she walked off to ask someone ans came ba k and told me it maybe in on Thursday and that I should call back. I told her I would be out of town. I had to ask her to check at another store. Instead of her checking another Ulta...she checked the internet and found them at Sephora. Yes you are right, she sent me to a competitor store. I always been an Ulta customer for many many years, I do my hair and I also buy all my hair products and cosmetics needs from there. Because I have been out of town for a while I called the salon for an appointment and they booked me for a hair color with a girl named Dianna Kabor. She did my hair and it was a great experience. I was generous too. yesterday I went for my six weeks retouch appointment at 1:00pm, but due to an emergency I knew that I can't make it on time so I called the salon to ask if I can come fifteen or thirty minutes late and the girl told me that there is a fifteen minute grace period if I can make it during that time and It will be fine. I rushed to the Salon and I was there exactly at 1:17 pm. One of the girls at the salon went to get Dianna Kabor from the back when she came she was so angry and told me ( you are late almost twenty minute) I told her I was here a couple minutes ago She get even more upset and starts yelling (you know you should come on time B/C I don't like to rush and get enough time with each of my client). I said to her I am sorry but I have an emergency and I called the front desk and I told them, but if you can't do my hair now I can reschedule she said that's fine but still mad and she rushed to prepare the color. she didn't give me a chance to talk to her or even looked at me. so I went to where she was and said to her nicely that I noticed after I went home after my last visit that the color I had a little darker than my actual hair color. Her response was a disaster. she burst out and throw the bowl into the sink yelling ( it is the same color of your hair) and she grabbed another bowl I guess to prepare a lighter color. So I told her I just want your opinion but if that's what you think then no worries you can use the same one you just threw into the skin. she took the bowl out of the sink in order to use It again. there was a black hair stylist who was there the whole time and who witnessed the whole Situatio. During the process she said ( I am sorry for what had happened and I don't know why I did that) I just want to let you know that Dianna Kabor can be great hair stylist but she needs her attitude checked. I went in tonight an hour before closing and asked for a color match for a CC cream that I had my eye on. There are only two people working but the woman I asked for help (I believe her name was Mia, but I'm embarrassed to say I'm terrible with names) didn't blink an eye and said she'd be over as soon as she could. she not only matched me to a color that I had no idea matched to my skin tone, but she also made great recommendations for a cleanser and a moisturizer. It's so refreshing to be able to have a real life conversation with someone who understands my needs. Thank you for having such helpful people like Mia in the store! I have no complaints about this store. I came here on a whim, not really looking for anything specific. I am not really a makeup wearer but I decided that I need some new eye liner as mine has dried out. Told you, I am not a make up wearer LOL. I also picked up some magnetic eye lashes. I think I have worn false eye lashes maybe 5 times, but I felt like purchasing some new ones (I still haven't worn them). I did ask one young lady for her advice. She was wonderful in providing me her thoughts on the lashes, so that also made me solidify my purchase. The lines were a bit long at times, but they moved extremely fast. I don't think I waited in line for more than 2 minutes. The cashier was nice and welcoming. As a first time male shopper with ulta, my experience was not a pleasant one. I ordered azzaro cologne online. After 2 weeks the order did not not ship. Then 16 days later I get a notice that the order was canceled and my funds were put back on an ecard. ​i never got notice that there was an issue with the order and i also used my personal debit card so i don't know why my funds were put on a gift card. I go to this location often and the employees are always pleasant and helpful. Every time I have to make a return they make the process quick and painless. The only thing that could be better is if they had more higher end brands like Dior and Chanel. Also sometimes when something is trending or really popular at the moment they will be sold out for weeks. But they do have really great sales here. read more

I came to Ulta today for a quick stop to return some things and look around for a few new items. Although I've been here before, the experience I just had was the best I've ever had at an Ulta. The store is clean and organized as usual. I had only been in there a few minutes and one of the store associates, Jocelyn, came up right away to check on me. I said I was fine and moved on to the other side of the store. She checked on me again after noticing that I was looking at the same section for a while. After that, she ended up helping me find EVERY item I needed and even grabbing a basket for all of my items. I got in line and she ended up being there at the register to help me too. Super smooth return/checkout process, and I was in and out the store just like that. The other store associates I interacted with were friendly, cheerful, and helpful as well! This is the worst Ulta ever. The staff is rude and unhelpful. With COVID the new lines are weird and seems to place you in closer contact with others then the original way it was set up. After waiting I was told that there was only one line even though there was multiple registers open and multiple line on the floor to tell you to stand "here". I will drive to another Ulta next time. Upon entering, it appeared that no one was even in the store. Usually they welcome you. I was looking to purchase gray eyebrow powder. The girl was not knowledgeable at all, she did manage to find the product and simply handed it to me. It wasn't correct but she left me to return it to the shelf. If you're needing to schedule a hair appointment, definitely go see Danaè, she's absolutely wonderful! My first appointment she spent a good 10-15 minutes just looking over my hair and chatting with me about what it needed and my basic routine. I really felt like she took the time to understand my hair texture and characteristics. I came home with a beautiful cut and decided to schedule another appointment to lighten my hair color. The staff at this location are helpful. I needed help trying to match my shade with a product that was on clearance which could not be opened and the cashier took her time to help me find my shade. I was also trying to get a promotion that they had going on and she helped me find products to amount to the total to be able to get the promotion. I love Ulta because they offer "drugstore" make up as well at prices that go on sale or on clearance. They also sell Morphe and Juvia's Place which is helpful because you do not have to go online. They have all the popular products and Ulta's brand is very good and affordable. I will say that a lot of the products that are on sale or clearance usually get gone quick and are not restocked so I would suggest removing the tags if there's no product left. read more

But no she continued pressing her for her email and she told her she ain't have one from the jump that should've been the end of the story if you don't have an email it ain't no issue . I had a late appointment with Jordan after work this week. The entire time she was shampooing she was talking to a coworker about their personal lives and I ended up with water in my ear. After she finished I asked her to blend the layers more but it wasn't until I got home I noticed how bad it was. My bangs were completely uneven and a large part of it didn't have layers like the rest. The left side was also longer than the right. She hadn't checked the length at all and when she cut my bangs she didn't do it like I'd had them done every time before when the bangs are separated from the rest of my hair. The only reason I'm giving three stars instead of one is for salon manager Amanda. I went in the next day and she pretty much saved my head. The cut I have now is great and bouncy and whilst she couldn't fix my bangs entirely because they were so bad she did the best she could. So if you make an appointment here book with Amanda and stay away from Jordan. read more

The staff here for the most part are nice. But some are real pieces of work. I love the nail polish and hair product selections here and I like the variety of lines they carry. The store is always bright and clean. The hair salon in the back is also nice. But I'm not too sure as to why I made an appointment when I had to wait over 45 minutes to get my hair cut, and that's not including the time I waited before hand. I really wanted to give this place more than 2 stars but their staff needs to work on talking to customers and less with each other. Why am I sitting and waiting for so long and no one even looks at me, when I established I was here for a hair cut appointment? It didn't help the situation at all and needless to say, I don't want to get my hair cut there again. Katrina is a very nice and wonderful stylist, who once she was finished with her prior customer was able to give me a hair cut that I wanted and took great care of me.
