This is my local Ulta. Product selection is strong most of the time (occasionally it seems understocked, occasionally there are expired products, so check your dates!) So I went back to apply 20% coupon that I received the previous day and the cashier and the manager told me that the policy stated that I could not return the product and buy it the same day. She then proceeded to pull the policy off the wall where people were standing in line in front of everyone. None of the policy read that I had to come back 24 hours later to purchase it. So unfortunately, I had to return the entire purchase of close to $200 and lose the possibility of having those items because they were some of the last items on the shelves when I picked them out. I was willing to return all the products and buy more items on top of the purchase made in the previous day, but they would not allow me to purchase any of the items that I was returning in the same stopping trip. Going forward, I will be going directly to the vendor and not buying from Ulta anymore. The vendor has more discount and products to choose from. I read in one of the reviews on here that the cashiers were rude, and I can verify that that is correct. This store needs to have a regional manager visit it without announcing that they are coming so that they can see what is happening at this store. THEN SHE KEPT MY COUPON!!! I REALIZED WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR THAT SHE KEPT IT AND RAN INSIDE TO GO GET IT, AND AT FIRST SHE CLAIMED SHE DIDN'T HAVE IT. I've been to the salon here a few times now and I have been with different cosmetologists each time. I am sooooo not into the beauty scene although I think it's intriguing how great people are at it. Today decided to take my girlfriend to Ulta to spoil her a little bit We walked in and were immediately greeted by an employee! We walked around the whole store as my girlfriend browsed. My only complaint is that they didn't really enforce the mask mandate as I saw one gentleman not wearing his mask while his gf was wearing one. Go figure I guess. My wife and kids stopped here today and after leaving they realized an item was missing. After they went back in the store and let them know something was missing, the staff was very nonchalant. They even had to get the manager and the manager had to review the video tape. They realized the store clerk dropped the bag and the "missing" item had went under a counter. Ulta is my one stop shop for a big event (I have one tomorrow night). They have a hair salon with top hair stylists and they do makeup application as well. They do facials at very reasonable prices, as well as eyebrow dying (as I got older my eyebrows got grayer) and eyebrow shaping. For Halloween I made an appointment at the hair salon and they did my hair and makeup as a Victorian Vampire- yes it looked awesome! Their customer service is wonderful. I usually cannot leave the store without purchasing a new lipstick shade from Urban Decay- they have matching lip pencils for some of the lipstick shades. Most of the time my taste in color is spot on because the shade I want is all sold out, but if you ask the sales associate in the department, they will go in the back and look for you and come out from the back storeroom with your desired shade in their hands. If you are trying to buy a new foundation, they will apply different shades for comparison to help you look perfect- it is a very nice experience. read more

EVERY TIME I come into the store it is dirty, not fully stocked, no costumer assistance, and they are always restocking during shopping hours. For example, I came in today at 11:00 (the time they open) and they were barely restocking, they had a mess everywhere, barely started sweeping, they were in the lanes taking up all the room restocking so we couldn't see any of the products. Hence, why I always go to Sephora and avoid coming here unless it is an emergency, management should be more on top of there employees and overall store. read more

ULTA, you got some splannin' to do! Really, I love Ulta...when the stuff I want is on sale. Unfortunately, a lot of what's in Ulta would be the same price as buying it directly from the company that makes it or more. And 9 times out of 10 I can find their Covergirl, Wet 'n Wild, and Revlon products cheaper in Walmart. But 1,000 points for carrying my favorite palettes from Urban Decay. I've been to this specific store a couple of times and I only leave with items that were on sale, but when they have a sale...oh-em-gee! I leave with more than I can carry. The hair products carried in this one differ a little from the newer Ulta at the Fountains (in love with the Marc Anthony line that isn't carried in this one), but it's still plentiful and you can more than likely find what you're looking for. Makeup and perfume galore. No testers though which really sucks. Although, I did see testers for some liquid soap. Kind of confusing, considering they don't have sinks readily available, but I suppose you could pump some in your hand and make a crazy beeline for the bathroom. Continue doing that until you've tried 'em all. Now I'm kind of curious what soap they carry in the bathroom, that just seems like prime advertising space. Also, there was a tester for the Hempz lotion, which I actually own some of this stuff and refer to it as Weed Lotion (you'd be surprised how many people don't know what hemp is in this day and age of the internet, until you say, "It's the main ingredient in pot."). I love the stuff because it really does leave your skin silky smooth. I wasn't aware that there were four or five different scents, but I'll just stick with the original. Customer service is a bit...strange. My last trip I was pestered by the same lady the entire time I was in the store. She was all smiles and kept repeating, "If you need anything, just let me know." After the third time of her saying this to me without me ever calling out for help, I had to swallow the urge to say, "I'm not gonna steal the f***ing makeup!" Yay for smiles, boo for being ridiculously overbearing. When I was leaving I was also questioned by someone behind the register...something to the tune of "Are you sure you didn't find anything?" Ummm, no. That's why I am walking out the door and not to your register. The staff here has kind of rubbed me the wrong way and had it not, I would've given four stars because the sale prices are nothing less than amazing and the product lineup is pretty good. read more

My review is exclusively related to the salon, since the store is what it is. I've been curious about the salon though, so in April I decided to give it a try. I was unhappy about a recent cut with my regular stylist and was in Dallas for a wedding, so I stopped in an ULTA to inquire about salon services. I liked what I heard, particularly about texturing and dry cuts. I got my hair cut and loved it. For the first time in ages, I started getting complements on my hair! Once back home, I didn't want to go back to my regular stylist, who argues with me about wanting to stop coloring and refuses to consider dry cutting. So I went in to the ULTA at Sunland to inquire about styling. I was directed to a nice stylist who spent an amazing amount of time on my hair, giving me a cut that was very good...not perfect but very good. Though, I admit taking scissors to it later, to round out the blunt cut in front. We scheduled another appointment and on that day when I arrived I was told it was her day off... curious and not a good practice. Once again, I was told about a new stylist that had just started but who has a lot of experience. Time being what it is, I agreed to give her a chance. So many times, when the job is done, I look at the cut and style and plan on going home to play with it and get it the way I want it. That didn't happen, I loved it from the start! Damaris, who cut my hair, did an amazing job. She took the time to texture, layer and make certain it looked the way a good cut should. I've had many complements since then and felt obligated to write a detailed review, letting people know how pleased I've been with all 3 cuts but especially my last one with Damaris. If you know what product you want or are already using, then Ulta is a good place to go, but if you have never bought the product you've heard of then you're taking your chances on whether anybody will offer to help you when you walk in the door. I wanted a certain perfume and since that area is the first you come to as you walk through the door I looked for it with no luck. The whole time I was looking, two employees were standing by the front door talking. I didn't want to have to do it, but here it is. I visit this Ulta often. Everytime I cross my fingers and hold my breath that my experience will be "good". Unfortunately customer service is terrible. I went on to buy a few gifts for Christmas, but I couldn't located the gift section. I saw a two employees gathered just talking when I approached they continued to chat. Moved on to not disturb, found an employee standing seemed like she was waiting to assist anyone who needed help. When i asked where the gift section was, she said everywhere and walked away. I eventually found some bath bombs, lipstick sets in the middle area towards the back by the salon. I tried to look for another employee to ask some questions I found two putting on blush and lipstick from the testers, I didn't bother. Instead I asked two customers what they thought about the pallet I had in my hand, It surprised me how nice and helpful these customers were. This store feels dirty and is very unorganized. Difficult to find the product you are looking for. Seems like they are sold out of a lot of items -- Urban Decay! We had to go up to the register to ask questions because no sales associates were anywhere to be found. This is typical of every single visit to Ulta. Once at the register, the young lady was awesome. I just felt bad that there were people waiting to pay. Then I look up and there's like four people behind the sales counter but only two are working as cashiers. Not sure what the other two were doing? Definitely NOT waiting on customers or restocking their empty shelves. I will have to go back to this location unfortunately or drive 20 miles to Sephora! Very unprofessional. On my last visit here I left in a bad mood because of the customer service. One lady in particular annoyed me when I walked into the store and said to my sister "I wonder if they carry Josie Maran here". There lady who was stocking items looked over her shoulder and said in a snobby voice "we don't". She could've pointed me in the direction of a comparable product line instead of just being unhelpfully nosy. She was also rude to my friend and didn't wanna help her. The girls at the cash register weren't friendly either. But today's visit restored my faith in this place. We were asked once if we were doing "ok". Which we were, we didn't need help, but it was nice to be asked. The girl who asked was the same girl working the register and she was very pleasant during check out. I've reached the time in my life when poor or inadequate customer service is no longer excused. Went to Ulta in Sunland Park about 10:30, and they only had one employee available. She manned the cash register and telephone first. No one was available to assist me in finding products, and when one spends a few hundred dollars on makeup, you expect professional help. I don't come to Ulta to shop -- too overpriced, cashiers are not that friendly. BUT I do come to Ulta for their hair stylists and I can't speak highly enough of them. I went in to look for the Juvias place foundation. No one greeted me at the door or ask if I needed help finding anything. I didn't put too much attention to it. I went on a search by myself. I found it. Display was dirty lots of random makeup by it. My shade was sold out so I looked at other makeup. Other displays testers were empty or the products were not stalked at all. Employees just stared at me not even smiling or saying hi. Felt so uncomfortable I decided to leave and order online instead. This store was not organized or friendly at all. This review is based on my experience with Melissa at the Benefit Brow Bar. She was just amazing. A very personable brow expert. I usually have my brows threaded and this experience was 10 times better. It is around $10 more, but well worth it. She measured exactly where the brow should be waxed and worked her magic. The process took around 30 minutes because I had let my brows grow Frida Kahlo style to try and get them to arch better. I give this store 1 star only because it's down the street from my house! I went in for a cosmetic I needed. I asked for help and the girl seemed she was in a rush, then another girl started helping me and she looked like she was feeling like poop and was just not helping very well. I had to go on a hunt for what I needed! When I was ready to pay I put my merchandise on the counter and I told the cashier I had a coupon. Right away she rejected me and said "no we can't take the coupon for this brand!" I looked at her and I asked her to read it before she would right away say no! I've been a long time Ulta shopper, so it saddens me to have to write a less than stellar review. My biggest problem is that they seem to not care or ever fix their stock. Example: there was a product that I really wanted but the only one they had in the store was in an open box that had clearly been used. I asked if they were getting more and was told yes. Well on 3 subsequent trips to that site, at least a week or more apart, the only one they had was still just the open box. I ended up ordering the item online. The second is that many times they forget to remove sale tags from the shelves, which may lead a consumer to buy things they normally would pass because they think they're getting a deal, only to find out after checking out that they charged full price because the sale was over. Then you have to choose to haggle for the sale price, keep it, or outright return it. I would also appreciate if some of the sales people had a better knowledge of some of the brands they sell. I think Retail 101 is to know your products, but that's just my opinion. I've resorted to ordering most things from the Ulta website so I can still get my points. read more

Staff is unprofessional, I will not be back. I came to process some returns and was really treated like I was an inconvenience. If a high end store like Sephora can take returns for used, much more expensive products, the staff at this store can certainly process a few unused items that they are easily able to look up by my rewards card (a part of the return policy that is clearly listed on their website). I even apologized once since they were acting as though I was ruining their lives, but got no response. And they refunded me the wrong amount on at least one higher-end item I purchased, which I now have to contact Ulta customer service about anyway. Shop online, go to a different Ulta or stick to Target for the drugstore stuff and Sephora for high end stuff. Both places have MUCH better customer service. read more
