This is the first ulta I've been to that the employees were not wearing makeup, which was a relief. In this climate, skin care should be a priority (hopefully). I was not hounded a millions times about "needing some help" I was great ful for that, they were fully stocked on everything which was awesome. Wife dragged my girls down to get all hair cut and the hair department is amazing. These girls working here are the best (amber) and we'll all of them really. I have 3 little girls and they are all happy as can be. My youngest does not let me wash her hair with out a fight but not one complaint with this place and the wonderful staff (Joelle). Was in the store today to purchase a flat iron. they had one I wanted and marked clearly with a tag that was 50%. we get to the register and it doesn't ring up that way. come to find out it's tagged for a sale starting 3 days from now. They wouldn't honor the price tag they clearly put up and the "manager" was super rude and instantly got an attitude about it. No apologizing or anything. terrible customer service. read more

I have come into this store for several weeks when I need to replenish anything in my beauty supplies, whether it's for my hair, makeup, bath products or perfume and the customer service is amazing. They are always well attentive and will check on you to make sure you are able to locate what you need. I have never had issues like pervious reviews about signing up for a loyalty card and believe me, I have been in this stores location once a week for the past two months. 5 stars all around for customer service . read more

I came into this store with my 3 year old son and daughter. I am white and their father is Native American. I was greeted by an overily eager 18 year old girl who first after complimenting me on my daughters, then proceeds to ask me if I am Eskimo because my kids looked like they were. I told her I was white. Being asked about my nationality in general I thought was completely invasive and incredibly in appropriate, not too mention very offensive to my young children who are indeed not "Eskimo." This is a somewhat racist term and the more that I thought about after we left the more it bothered me. This is the worst Ulta I have ever shopped in :( The eyebrow people are great. I would not see Mia if you have large shaped eye brows... she wants everyone to have tiny thin eyebrows. Every single time I go in we always run into an issue w the cashiers. Last time I returned an item then bought and item and used a coupon... apparently that is some serious rocket science because the lady ended up doing something wrong.... not being able to fix it so I had to pay full price and the coupon amount and returned item were put into a gift card... so her drawer wouldn't be off... all while a manager assisted her. I kept saying there HAS to be a different way Then I asked to see if they had an item in stock... she looks in the back and quickly comes back... No.... so I suggest a possible magic computer that keeps records of what's in stock.... and presto they had one. I just can't anymore.... way too painful to shop here. I have a love/hate relationship with this store. The Good: Most of the sales associates are nice and try really hard to be helpful. There's one lady with blonde highlights thats always super sweet, even when I was pissed about my brow appointment being late. And it's really the only game in town for makeup unless you order online. The Meh: I HATE having to call in to make a brow appointment at the Benefit bar. I end up being on hold forever, someone has to go get the book, etc. Something that would literally take 2 minutes if they offered online appts, like their salon, takes almost 15. And the Benefit brow techs are inconsistent. I've been before where my brows look fantastic, and others where they were in a hurry and I had to come back a couple of weeks later. The last time I went in July, my appointment was 15 minutes late because they took an eyelash walk-in right before my appointment. No apology for the wait...incredibly rude. The Bad: They will never offer a sample and get super pissy if you ask for them. They also don't keep up with items that have a free gift with purchase; I've had to tell them before. And if they're out, they don't offer you an alternative. If Ulta didn't have a great rewards program, I would probably shop exclusively at Sephora. And to the person complaining about the lack of a military discount, it's a discount NOT an entitlement. I'm sure you're probably a dependent as well.... read more

If I could give no stars I would. Been shopping here since they opened and customer service is always hit and miss but tonight was a huge miss. Watched the manager check out 2 employees who were getting off work before the line of customers waiting to pay. The little Asian girl working the cash register needs to have a serious adjustment and check herself if she is going to be working retail. DO NOT EVER JUDGE ANYONE ON HOW THEY LOOK. My daughter and I went in for a haircut, we brought pictures to show how we'd like our hair to look. After having nearly all my hair cut off, I had to ask the hair stylist to stop cutting. She said "sorry I had a vision in my mind and kept cutting, but don't worry it's going to be so cute." Well, no it didn't. It was completely wrecked and not at all what I asked for. The hair by my ears were shaved off...which I didn't notice until I left and looked closely at the sides. As for my daughter? We told the stylist that she wanted her hair a little shorter, but she disagreed. Apparently as long as the stylist likes the length then they aren't obligated to do as the customer asks. We will never spend another dime at that salon or that store. So much for giving new businesses a chance. By the way, the person who messed up my hair severely was the new manager - which it cost me an extra $10 more because she was more "experienced." read more

Update: After shopping at the store for almost a year and spending thousands of dollars I am going back to online shopping. The reason? The disgustingly RUDE staff that works there. There are a few wonderful ladies who always help me. They have great personalities and I appreciate all of the suggestions and assistance but having to deal with the other horrible women-I don't even want to set foot in that store again! The lady in the back who does facials, Mia, destroyed a wonderful shopping experience of mine. I never used her services, I was just trying to ask about a coupon I was sent because I was a platinum member, she was unbelievably rude-the look on her face and the tone in her voice-and was accusing me of trying to screw them over, telling me I was wrong and I was getting a discount I didn't deserve. After this experience I called Ulta corporate and was told that in fact I was correct and used the coupon in the right way. These coupons were new, sent to platinum members who spend thousands of dollars a year in Ulta. Mia did not know what she was doing. She did not understand the coupon. Instead of trying to figure it out, she treated a previously loyal customer like absolute crap because of it. I wish there was someway I could accurately portray the hateful and scornful tone in her voice and look on her face. Also, there is an older woman with short dark hair who is always checking people out upfront. After again, spending a couple hundred dollars in one visit, I asked if there were any samples available. I saw in a previous visit a young lady receive some and was hoping to get a few new fun samples. She turned to the young woman that was helping me and mouthed the word no and shook her head, it was completely obvious to myself and my friends who were shopping with me (they didn't make purchases so it wasn't like she had to give them to all of us) that there were indeed samples that she just didn't want to give them to me. Again, because of the staff, they customer was made to feel terrible and embarrassed. So, I'm done. I will spend my money elsewhere and not be treated like a piece of sh*t. So I don't go in this store often because id rather shop online due to the fact that most of the girls who work here are snotty and think they are above anyone who walks in the store. So I was out shopping and needed a product and didn't have time to order it, so I went in the store. Yes, I know they require masks and I put it on, it was over my mouth and my nose covering my area that needed to be covered. As I walked into the store I read the signs on the doors, don't touch the samples, wear a mask, got it! I'm not stupid I can read and follow instructions. So as I walk in the snotty girl at the door tells me I need to pull my mask up under my eyes, it was up covering my nose fully. I didn't have time to argue with a store worker with an attitude. She then proceeds to lecture me and my friend on not touching samples etc, I looked at her and told her, " Yes we can read we don't plan on touching samples". We got our product and left. We will not be shopping there again. Id rather order online and wait, the girls there think they are better than the customers with their snotty rude attitudes. Its not like I'm broke, I could be a very good customer but cant stand snotty low wage workers who act like their crap doesn't stink. WE WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. This was my first time at an Ulta salon, and I highly doubt I'll be back. I brought in a picture of the exact ombré effect and color I wanted and was not even remotely vague about it, yet somehow I ended up with the exact opposite of what I asked for. The stylist was very nice, which is the only upside of my experience, but they clearly did not listen to me on several occasions. I was in that chair for 6 hours and left with a shoddy dye job and barely blow-dried hair (no flat iron or any product, so my hair was a giant ball of frizz). It cost WAY more than was originally quoted and I had to fix it myself when I got home. On top of that, I waited 40 minutes to be seated, even though I had an appointment and had already checked in; someone thought I was a no-show (even though I was sitting right there the whole time), so they took a walk-in over me. Once I realized what they did, the issue was resolved, but not until after they'd finished with the other woman. The employees seemed like they did not want to be there, and I felt like my time and money were very wasted. I don't plan on ever returning, but I will say: if I did, I would definitely ask for Krystalle. She seemed to be the only stylist who actually knew what she was doing. read more

The security guard shouldn't be so obvious when he's following you around. That store was packed and I was the one that was being followed. Like I didn't know who he was-_-. I don't really know what to think about that- I have never been profiled out of a good 60 customers. Such a huge turn off. Maybe instead of following me from beauty bar to hair brushes to hair care he should make himself useful and carry my bag or use some customer service skills and ask me how I'm doing rather than follow me around. It's annoying, I have worked retail before, I know people steal but you don't put your attention on one customer and make them feel awkward. I love Ulta and I'm pretty sure a lot of people are stealing but if I have a medium size purse, blow dryer, flat iron and other products. How am I going to fit them in my purse? Where am I going to put them being as I had no jacket and my pants and shirt are tight? I'm not your perp. I will be back but that was just the sore thumb that stuck out. DO NOT GO TO ULTA SALON FOR FORMAL HAIR/MAKEUP. They severely lack the skills and organization to do this. I've learned my lesson. I scheduled a formal hair style and wedding makeup. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted, despite my showing pictures, and instead insisted he knew what would look best and made my hair look plastered to my head, with only a few curls hanging out. The pins were falling out before I even left the store. He can talk a good talk, but his "product" does not match what he says. My hair looked thin and did not flatter me at all, and would not last more than thirty minutes. The makeup application was the worst part. I wanted to schedule a practice session, to be sure of the end result on my wedding day. But they wouldn't do that, instead I had a "consult" to pick colors, but no makeup applications. I should have known better. I had to apply my own lip stick and liner, as the lady had no idea what she was doing. My bottom lipped was so crooked. She didn't know how to do eyes, and so she pawned me off on the girl that does eyebrow shaping and had never applied eye makeup on someone else before. Why you would do this to someone about to get married, I dunno. She did her best, but slathered my eyes with near to black eye shadow (I had shown pictures of a natural brown shadowed eye), glued on fake lashes unevenly, and could not even put eye liner on equally. I had to keep asking her to fix it, tone it down, etc. I looked like Snuffluffagus. Finally, in panic because my wedding was an hour away and I wasn't even dressed, I just said it looked fine, paid, and left. There was no fixing what the "professionals" at this Ulta store had done. I proceeded to go home, tear down my hair, wash the gobs of black shadow off my eyes, and do it all myself. I felt so much better as I washed the makeup off my face. I've never looked so unlike myself, the make up looked cheap, uneven, whorish, and like a drunk stripper had applied it. Beauty buyer beware! read more
