I just took myself and my father to Top Nails and definitely recommend them. They treated us very well! Note my father is elderly and has trouble cutting his toe nails. I played hockey and basketball so my feet are pretty gnarly. I felt bad having someone work on my feet but they were pros and did a great job. They have dedicated foot stations with a back massager and dedicated foot wells - they line with new plastic for every customer. Place is clean and well lit. Note we did not get nail color or anything; this was just cleaning and trimming our feet. I ordered the deluxe pedicure to take off calluses from the bottom of my foot too. I think the extra $10 for that and the wax treatment are worth it. Sam did my pedicure and is recommended. read more

I was a walk in and was happy she took me but the picture I showed her she didn't know how to do and didn't say anything. She used the wrong base coat on my nails to start and then did the designs and they looked nothing like the picture and didn't even use the right color. I had asked her to remove the designs so she did and I had asked just to put chrome over them which is a two minute process and she said she had no time even though only one person was in there so she said to come back the next day. She proceeded to charge me $70 for just the full set and a base layer not even a top coat or the finishing lotion. I ended up going to wow nails to get my designs and they even fixed the nail and cuticle because it wasn't even or done right. I did not leave a tip and I won't go back there again. Worsts nails I have ever had. Asked for medium-sized nails, I got nonexistent short. The shape is all wack on every nail, with no symmetry. Some of the nails are slanted. Lastly, my design is uneven and terrible on every nail. I'm not one to disrespect nail techs and not pay, but my nails are so crappy they did not deserve any money for my manicure. I waited around to get seated for a long time and had to move chairs after my acrylic set was already in progress and they switched workersI got the wrong shape and they were shorter than my actual natural nails when I showed up. They were filing them and it was burning because of how thin they were making the nail, and on top of that some of my cuticles were bleeding and the kept proceeding with the process instead of letting me go wash my hands or even give me something to stop the bleeding. I have to say that I was pretty excited to go get a pedicure after the Covid virus closedown. So my daughter and I picked this nail salon. We used to go here a long time ago but we stopped going because the people were rude and they did a lousy pedicure. Anyway we went had a great time, lovely pedicure but my nails never dried. I ended up wiping the polish off and called them They said I could come back in anytime to get them fixed. I went in today, everyone was acting like I did something wrong. If you want to be treated like you're invisible, have chipping nails, and broken skin on your heels after a pedicure then come here! I'm visiting the area for a few months and regularly keep my nails and feet groomed. I saw someone else's nails and I think they told me it was from this place so despite the lower rating I decided to give it a try. Mind you, this nail salon is beside the gym I'm a member at so once before I approached the salon just to check it out and potentially get a mani/pedi but literally no one greeted me at all so I left! So like I said I was skeptical but decided to give it a go. Upon arrival I had the same experience: just standing there awkwardly waiting for someone to acknowledge me. After a few moments someone asked what I needed done and directed me to pick out a color. I asked for a gel manicure and pedicure (non gel) and therefore asked to see the gel colors. I was told to pick out a toe nail color from a very limited selection. Now I usually like my nails and toe nails to match and in my experience this process of selecting a non gel color first is usual but likely to result in having to reselect in order to find a matching shade. I select a color and am directed to a pedicure area (very small and no where to put your purse) and told to sit down. I asked the woman to see the gel colors first so that I could make sure they had a matching color and after the woman trying to bully me into putting my feet in the water she finally gave me the gel colors (again, very limited.) After I sat down it was very uncomfortable since I had to hold my bag and coat during the entire pedicure. I selected the most expensive package for the pedicure and at the time it was just ok. The woman applied way too much pressure during the massage and seemed kinda lazy during the buffing and cuticle cutting parts. During the manicure the woman barely spoke English which made it difficult the explain what I wanted. I usually don't get designs but this time I wanted one and the woman constantly had to defer to another technician for help until the other woman just came over and designed it herself. I showed them a picture of work completed there as an inspiration for what I wanted and even told them I didn't want exactly the same but I ended up with the same design, different color. Also, I have very strong nails and don't require acrylic and all that and the woman apparently filed my left pinky nail down to the point that it split the very next day and when I press the nail it's thin and weak. ON TOP OF THAT I didn't notice it right after but the next day my left heel was super sensitive. I thought I was having sore feet because occasionally I suffer from plantar fasciitis but when I looked, my heel was red and cracked and the pain I was experiencing was from my sock rubbing against the broken skin! I am so undone right now! AND I tipped above 20% to each of them! The only time I was "welcomed" was after that when they kept saying they hope I come back! I WILL NOT BE BACK AND THEY BETTER HOPE MY FOOT DOESN'T BECOME INFECTED!! read more

I have been to Top Nails many times and for many years. I read the views here, and I would like to add a few comments. When I come to Fairbanks, which is often, I'm in a rush to get things done and travel back home on the highway in the light. I call when I'm in town, and they schedule me in within an hour or two, depending on their day. Sometimes I can get in within 1/2 hour. I think it's very important to let the technician know if you have tender spots or problem areas on your feet or hands. I tell mine what I want before we start. It seems some past reviews complain after they leave. What's with that? Tell your technician what you want. When I am there, I usually find a child or two who belong to the workers. I like that. English is a second language. Sometimes explaining and talking can be a small issue. I don't mind that; I just explain again in a more simple fashion. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Do NOT go here. Run, run away. The technician used an electric file on my real nails- even when I told her to stop. She keep telling me it was okay and showing me the file was okay by putting it on my fingers. I told her to stop several times. Honestly, I should have gotten up and gone to another salon mid service. She cut my skin on every single finger except one. I was bleeding and she said it was "not her fault" my nails grew that way. She tried to tell me I made them bleed because I squeezed them while I was washing my hands. I really feel like I should go get prophylactic antibiotics. She charged extra because I wanted them shaped round - but she made them almond shaped, not at all what I asked for. The tips are extremely thick and my real nails are trashed. Plus the color wasn't the same that was shown on the example board. I wanted a navy blue and the color was a teal color. It was nice, but not what I was expecting. I compared it after and it was not the same color even though the numbers matched. Now I have awful, thick nails and hands that are sore and bleeding. Very disappointed in this salon. I'm usually the type of person to give someone the benefit of the doubt but this is the worst nail salon. If you make an appointment, don't show up expecting your nails to get started on right away. They will more than likely have someone else in the chair during your appointment time. Isn't that the whole point of booking an appointment. You'll be told to wait, and then after waiting an hour you'll be told to come back tomorrow. Extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate. Visited this location for a pedicure and manicure. I was told to pick out a color and then have a seat at the last pedicure chair. No one greeted me at my chair so I moved the sanitized sign myself and the lady who was working on the women next to me started the water at my seat and I began soaking my feet. I did this for about 20 minutes, the water had gone cold by the time someone actually came over to service me. This guy was a nightmare. He literally could NOT keep his eyes on my feet. Even while pushing back my cuticles, he was looking away and talking to others the entire time, barely getting my cuticles at all, and several times, scratching across the top of my toes. At one point he clipped me with the cuticle clippers (which he used to trim my already short and thin toenails), another time while he filed my nails, he wasn't paying attention and was literally filling the top of my toes, making them feel very sore. He was so incredibly indelicate and rough I was tense and on edge THE ENTIRE TIME. My actually pedicure only lasted about 40 minutes (including the 20 minute soak) and I immediately canceled my manicure. This place looks thrown together, half the polish they have for you to pick from you can purchase at Walmart. With this place, you certainly get what you pay for. read more

After it was said an done she charged us $53 an they were not the shape my sister asked for. For me after mine were finished I noticed they weren't dry. I said something to them an they told me to keep drying them for another 2 mins. After 20 minutes went by someone finally come over an said I was good to go. I touched my nail an the polish completely smeared. I said clearly this isn't dry. The older lady in there had an attitude with me an tried to get me to leave an when i refused to leave without them fixing it finally the original lady who did my nails took me to sit back down an told me the original pink color I chose was not a good color bc it takes many coats to look good. I asked why she didn't tell me that to begin with? Why waste my money an both of our time? She went an got a completely different color I didn't even want an they still wouldn't dry. Tried to get me to pay more money to do gel. I told them gel is too rough on my nails. So they tried to blame it on that. I wasted $90 An ended up with nails not even the round shape I asked for, different color an they won't dry so now the polish is smeared. It has been five days since my manicure and I couldn't be happier. "Nee" was my manicurist and she did an amazing job on my gel nail selection. I brought in a design I fell in love with on Pinterest and she did a perfect job. I was greeted at the door, shown a basket of a million gel colors, walked to the manicure station, and had my hands soaking with 2 minutes. The shaping was just as I requested and she cut off the perfect amount of cuticle. I have miserable skin around my nails that is highly susceptible to peeling back after a cuticle trimming, but this is the first time I haven't experienced some sort of discomfort days after a manicure. I've heard it said that men go to the bar and women go to the salon to talk out their issues, but this is not the place to discuss anything. Conversations and discussions are not this salons forte; so save your issues for your therapist. I usually appreciate a bit of banter, but was still comfortable with the relative silence. The gel adhered well to my nail bed, the design was executed skillfully, and I am overall very pleased with the experience. I will be going back, but I will only be going back to the salonist, "Nee".
