This is probably my favorite local Ulta location. Whenever I have an issue (such as today) regarding a coupon, the staff always say "Let me get my manager.". And what a great manager they have! I visited Ulta for the first time in March 2023. It is similar to Sephora except Sephora sells all higher end brands whereas Ulta sells lower to middle-end brands with some higher end brands too. For example, Ulta sells Rihanna's Fenty Beauty brand which is a high end brand but Ulta dies not sell Rare Beauty products by celebrity Selena Gomez. Ulta also sells Kylie Jenner makeup products. The store is quite large and is divided between makeup, skincare products, and accessories. I even noticed a small male products section. I bought two lip glosses from the brand NYX and also a liquid eye liner from the same brand. I also bought a hair spray bottle. I've loved using my 2 lip glosses so far plus the eye liner. I haven't tried the spray bottle yet but I most likely will try it tomorrow. Service was a bit slow when I visited but eventually, I found someone to help me. I went into Ulta the other day and had such a great experience. All the staff were super friendly and one of the workers worked with me to find my match for a foundation and concealer. She also even called another location to put the products on hold since they were out of stock at the Westgate location. read more

Many of the testers were either missing or partially destroyed, making it hard to get swatches of the products I wanted to buy. Additionally one of the employees was very pushy about trying to get me to sign up for the Ulta Credit Card, asking me four times despite me saying no each time. read more

I find if you visit this location early in the day the sales staff are chipper and helpful, as the day wears on that isn't always the case which is why I don't always go here. If you plan on going to this location Areege Saleh is the only I mean only stylist to go to. I went to someone else and although my hair was messed up and nothing what I asked and showed pictures of. This kind soul was willing to fix for free what another team member had destroyed. Even worse the management said I had to pay in full before I left. The stylist never blew dry my hair or came out of the back room. I was left with a bill to pay in my hand and promises someone else had to repair it. To my surprise a month later I got a call that I was being refunded for the damaged/ incorrect coloring. Well I gave Areege a shot and wow. The passion for pleasing her clients. Asking the right questions reiterating my wants so to make sure we were on the same page prior to touching my hair was incredible. Each set was explained. I was beyond happy. But the best part is when I went to a party that night ans everyone loved my hair. For one month I lived with awful messed up hair. It felt so good to feel pretty again. If you need someone. I've always been a bit insecure about myself and the way I look, but I love makeup and doing my hair and all that good stuff. I went into Ulta because I had broke my powder foundation and I was also given a gift card to them for my birthday. I've been struggling with money lately so I was pretty excited to get some new makeup. I went in and was greeted by two girls who worked there even though they were helping other customers at the time. I found my way to the Urban Decay foundation wondering what I was going to choose, until one of the girls who was finished helping another customer walked over to me and asked if I needed help and if I was doing okay. Her name was Marianne and she was very sincere and genuine. I told her that because my summer tan is fading away I'm not sure what color my skin tone was. So she gladly tested some of the products on my face seeing what my color was. She then had me sit down in the chair and showed my some of the products that I should be interested in. She applied them on to my face then held the mirror up for me, I was blown away. I decided that I was going to get the two products she used and I was super excited. Usually I feel guilty when I splurge and get expensive things, but this was a must do. I have never seen my foundation look that good. Well she walked me straight up to the register and asked if I wanted to be a rewards member and explained to me all the benefits of being one. I gladly said yes and now here I am. She made such an impact on me I left that store so happy and I still am a day later. Marianne made that experience. Before today, I'd say that I LOVE Ulta! I've been a Platinum member forever and basically buy all of my beauty products there. I love their sales and larger selection of cruelty-free brands. I received an online order that had the wrong item sent instead of something else. A pain, but whatever. I took it to the Fairview Park store, where the manager to swap out the items. The manager acted like I was crazy and literally said, "I've never heard of this happening before." She also let me know that they "have no control over online orders." Extremely frustrating policy in 2018. As I began to explain that to her, she leaned on the counter and said, "You should've called customer service". I walked out. These types of mistakes are bound to happen and it has happened to anyone who shops online. So first of all, it's ridiculous that you can't return in-store. I know for a fact that at Target and Sephora, it's nbd. Worst of all, was the treatment of the manager. If that's the type of management that they have, I'm taking my business elsewhere. Totally COVID compliant and that's awesome. Unfortunately always awkward interactions with staff and a seeming lack of product location knowledge in the store. Being told "Stuff gets moved all the time" tends to make for a frustrating shopping experience overall. I'm sure product setting is controlled at the corporate level but perhaps there should be more consideration for consistency so that the staff has at least a fighting chance to confidently help and recommend additional products to customers. read more

5 stars for the customer service at this ulta location!! Jenna at this location is a 10/10 employee!! She helped me pick out all the makeup I would need for a formal event (and matched it with my dress), was super helpful when it came to giving me options within my price range, and was just overall really nice and made me feel good about myself (despite not knowing a lot about makeup!). And while I didn't interact with some of the other employees working at the time, they all seemed really nice and I watched multiple customers walk out with a smile on their face after being rang up, just because of the short conversations they had with the employees. 10/10 good customer service vibes! read more

I'm just now getting on board with these beauty super-stores. Why? Having too many options gives me anxiety. The thought of a huge, self-serve makeup and beauty shop honestly sounds like hell on wheels to me. It already takes me longer than your average human to make a decision, but wandering around a place like Ulta or Sephora--walls lined with shades of make-up only slightly different than the ones around it, eyes glazed over... no thank you. I grew up visiting beauty counters at the department stores with my Mom. She'd always take me along with her and let me get my makeup done at Clinique or Chanel. But these days I wouldn't dream about buying anything other than eye shadows and longer-lasting makeup items from those places. It's just too expensive. But I still crave that 1-on-1 service of a professional who knows his/her craft and can help me help myself. Because even if you're buying cheaper makeup, you can waste your time and money on the wrong purchases. You're still not going to get that 1:1 experience with the expertise I'm talking about at stores like Ulta, but at this particular location I got great service. I was asked if I needed help and she even checked the back for me! She also got me involved in the rewards program. I loved that I didn't have to drive out of my way to come here or go inside a mall like I've had to with Sephora. I also appreciated their vast selection of NYX products that are super-reasonably priced. Like I said, I don't mind investing in some lasting products from more expensive stores, but for my everyday makeup, Chanel and likewise really isn't in my budget. NYX is also great for trendy colors you know you won't be sporting past this season. One thing I really don't like about huge makeup places like this quality control. Because Ulta is so huge with so many nooks and crannies, I found myself unable to buy over 6 items I wanted because they had been opened already. They checked the back, too. But someone felt the need to open the last of 6 different kinds of products to try them. I'm not talking about testers here... I'm talking about people who just open anything they want to try and then put it back, without any regard for others. With a store this big, Ulta suffers from this problem A LOT. And it's gross. I think if they were better staffed and made an effort to be sure testers were readily available, this wouldn't happen as much. The last time I was there hoards of teenage girls were running around opening products and no one said a word. Lastly, like a few other Yelpers have eluded to, the inventory at Ulta is so vast that there's no way every staff member can be an expert at all the lines of products. While some Yelpers find this OK, I only find this acceptable if I'm coming for makeup I've already tried. I'm an ULTA fan. I love that I can shop drug store brands and some "prestige" brands of makeup in the same place, as well as hair product, skin care products, hair dryers and flat irons, perfume, accessories, etc. I have been a makeup fiend since I was little, so I was delighted when it opened in Westgate. I really like the convenience of everything being available in one place. Some of the other reviewers are correct: if you don't know what product you want or if you need help figuring it out, you're kind of out of luck because you can't always find an ULTA employee in the store who is (1) knowledgeable about what you're asking about, and (2) available to help you. I usually know what I want, or have looked stuff up online beforehand (fave beauty blog: beautyjunkiesunite.com), so I can get by on my own. I know that isn't the case for everyone. That being said, the employees are friendly and do try to help when they're around. ULTA's rewards program now provides dollars off your purchases (after it's been earned), which I like better than freebies. You earn one point for every dollar spent, and you can apply that to in store and online purchases. If you spend more than $400 in a year, they offer a different level of rewards. I've never used the salon. It always seems weird to me that it's there. I think some of the drug store brand products (makeup, skin care, hair color, etc.) are more expensive than at an actual drug store. But it's nice to have more options in one place as opposed to drug store brands only, or MAC or Sephora type places with all higher end/$$$ product. read more

I've been to many Ulta locations but this is really my favorite one. The girls who work here are really nice and helpful with both purchases and returns. Shelves are usually well stocked, and the store is clean from what I have seen. You can print a $3.50 off $10 coupon to use (you just can't use it on prestige brands) and they also accept manufacturers coupons -- double steal! I like this Ulta, but this store lacks on many levels. There is no Benefit bar like most of the other stores, they don't carry products that other stores do, and customer service is usually pretty bad. It's is either non existent or so ridiculously fake that is is just plain insulting. Every time I have a questions I sort of feel like I get blown off. I feel like it's because I don't usually cake my face up to go shopping, so maybe they think that since I am not currently wearing a ton a make up that I will not spend a ton a money and am therefore not worth their time. Other locations have better CS and friendlier, more helpful associates. I've been wanting to try the salon for a while but the prices are just do high I can't bring myself to do it. I got my hair cut while back at this location. When I got to the check out I noticed I left my wallet in my car. When I told the lady I'll be right back, this older lady made a comment about how I might not come back. I've been a loyal customer for a while. I was insulted! I contacted the manager and I did get an apology. I always went there to get my hair cut but after that I stop going. Customer service sucks at this store too. No one really knows anything about make up and I got no help. read more

It is nice to use coupons and get their deals but they don't have nearly the selection of designer makeup that Sephora does. I just finished a hair appointment tonight and I had to write a review right away, because the service was PHEN-OMEN-NAAAL!!!! I walked in tonight with no appntmnt previously scheduled to cut my extensions, which I had just received in the mail before 3 days, and where neither my shade of color, nor the correct length. Not only did the hair stylist, who later I found out is the senior stylist of the salon, take me on without an appointment for a cut, but when I mentioned I was not happy with the shade of my extensions, asked me if I would like to tone them to match my head. She spent nearly 4 hours highlighting each extension, toning, washing and rewashing the extensions. Come close time, all the other Ulta staff was just concerned with closing up and getting out, and she was still in the back, perfect my weave. She was absolutely pleasant and down to earth, definitely one of the best hairdressers I've experienced in a while. By the end of it all, my extensions no look amazing! Don't get me wrong - I love Ulta. I've been a Platnium member for years. The girls who work at this store just don't have enough knowledge as other Ulta locations. They also don't carry lancome makeup which is annoying. There is always a long line at the register. I've had to ask the cashier to call additional employees to ring. I will walk out of your store and not buy anything if you make me wait a long time to get rung up. Salon was meh - I got a decent hair cut but the blow out? More like a blow up. I loved the setup (sort of), but I think it's nice they have little setups and even a salon. It's exciting that it's nearby so I don't have to travel 20 minutes to Westlake to go to Sephora. Now, for the not so nice reviews. I went in and was greeted by the cashier who was assisting someone. I was in there about 10 minutes browsing at all the cool stuff. It wasn't busy in there which is nice. I saw about 5 staff girls fluttering about. Almost all of them saw me because we made eye contact. Did any of them other than the cashier acknowledge my existence? No. I wasn't greeted by anyone other than the cashier. I wasn't asked if I needed assistance. Nothing. Zero. Nada. Zilch. Do I understand that they were probably busy setting out inventory & organizing? Of course. I have worked in retail for 10+ years. As hectic as it has been at times, I have ALWAYS greeted customers. I have ALWAYS asked if they needed assistance or if they did need assistance my location would be here and there doing store stuff. It is a #1 rule of retail: Greet & acknowledge the customer. It is NOT that difficult. Sometimes I greeted the same person more than once. Heck, once is better than none. I purchased something from Ulta online and then actually had trouble locating a product that was an online limited edition only. I was early, kept searching and could not locate it and by the time I got the direct link via Twitter, it was out of stock. So much for early bird getting the worm. Anyway, the reason I bring that up is that it was frustrating as heck. When I purchased the one product from the site earlier, I had trouble creating an account. Every time I typed my password over and over, I got a message saying the passwords didn't match. I decided to call customer service and right away I was stuck in a survey. Couldn't skip it so I hung up. After this experience in person at the Fairview Park location, my mind is made up. I will never purchase another thing from Ulta online, nor will I set foot inside any Ulta retail location. Actually, I don't mind going inside Ulta to see a specific product (and may I add the displays were messy and disgusting) in person, but I won't be purchasing anything from there. All of the products in or on Ulta's website are available elsewhere anyway. Sephora is about 20 minutes away. Ohhh yeaaaa!!! I had no idea Ulta.com had physical locations! Maybe because I didn't care enough to find out. But want to hear something fantastic?? This place is AWESOME! This location is huge and placed in an area that was once a mall where people would go to contemplate suicide. Now that area is a brand new outdoor shopping center (a la Crocker Park) that has Ulta...the BETTER Sephora. I don't know what the reviewer (S.A.) below is talking about because Ulta is not a cheap version of Sephora. They have the exact same prices, in fact, some things here were a few dollars more than what I've seen in Sephora (i.e. hair products). Besides the sometimes price differences, Ulta is way better than Sephora. Why? Because it's big without being ginormous, the staff is way friendlier and doesn't stalk you like Sephora employees with their black smocks asking "Do you need help find something? Do ya? DO ya? DOOOO YAAAAA????" No, bitch! Back the EF up! Let me browse for 2 minutes before you start pitching the "OMG you TOTALLY NEED to try this new mascara!" Umm...for $35, I'm good, I'll go to Rite Aid for that. Employees at Ulta, however, really give you time and space to browse around. They don't hover over you and do some kind of makeup cheer dance, artificially high on life (or mousse in the nearest isle...). The only bad thing I have to say about the employees here is that they really don't know about the products they're selling. Every employee I asked about brand names that EVERY makeup chick should know (i.e. Smashbox, etc), they kind of just stood there with a blank stare. I'm not saying I know about the "science of makeup" (as the airhead Sephora chicks refer to it as), but that's the point! I walk into a store, I sometimes ask questions, be prepared to answer them. It's kind of common sense....right? They also don't know anything about the hair products either. I used to be a die-hard Sephora fan until they jacked me around with my Sephora Insider points. I must have updated my customer profile 2 or 3 times and they could never locate it in their system so I gave up and started going to ULTA. I dig this location. Every brand of makeup, fragrance and hair care from drugstore to designer. It's easy to lose track of time in here trying all the products. I like the big selection of Tweezerman products. God knows I am a Tweezer freak and they've got all the limited edition ones. Last time I was there they had Paula Dorf cosmetics on sale 75% off because they were discontinuing them. When this Ulta first opened, I only went occasionally. Now I'm a fan! I love the salon, and also enjoy that I can pick up my Urban Decay eye liner, stila lip stain, and some Burt's Bees lip balm for my sweetie all in one swoop. The customer service really can vary based on who you interact with, but in the past year, I feel like the customer service has gotten so much better and the majority of the time, I've had a terrific experience. I had never tried using the salon, but in November I had a flyer that had a good deal on a cut and color. I figured why not. I didn't love my (then) current salon, and needed a cut pretty bad - I had a conference coming up and I couldn't remember the last time I had a trim (whoops). They were able to get me in that week, and were very friendly when making the appointment. I booked with the salon manager, who does cost a little bit more (I did appreciate that they told me that when I made my appointment, otherwise I would have been a little annoyed). I have to say, well worth the slightly more expensive cut and have one of my best hair cuts ever. Emily, the salon manager, is friendly and bubbly - without having that too syrup-y sweetness that gets on my nerves. She is fun, and the type of girl I can see myself bitching about work or relationship problems over some beers. I appreciate that Emily listened to my concerns, asked plenty of questions, and then offered suggestions. In the end, I tried something a bit different because she seemed to know what she is talking about (and hey, hair grows back). One of the signs of an excellent hair cut in my book is a cut that looks good but also looks good while it grows out. This is probably what has impressed me the most about Emily's skills - when it gets closer to my next cut, I can tell I need a trim but it still looks pretty good! My mom (who is a wonderful lady, but rarely compliments my hair) even has gone on and on about how good my hair looks. Further, I never once felt like Emily was trying to up-sell me or add anything on. When I asked about manicure stuff, she answered my questions without being pushy at all (and I went for a gel or Shellac manicure - I can't tell the difference between them). Enough about how in love with my hair cut I am. I like Ulta because they have good sales. I'm not rich, so where I can save a few bucks, I'm all about it. Some of Ulta's sales are really fantastic, especially if you pair it with a coupon. that's when I stock up on stuff (they sell a body scrub that I absolutely adore). Now, you can't always use the coupons on all products (such as the higher end "prestige" brands), but I buy enough other stuff that it's not a big deal. Plus, it's not like Sephora mails out coupons any more frequently and offers $3.50 off at least once a month (sure, $3.50 off $10 isn't a lot, but it's worth it to me!), and I've never received a coupon for cosmetics at any department store. Sometimes certain brands (especially the drug store stuff) aren't very well stocked. I recently wanted to purchase some bath goodies and One (I think that's the brand) had three bath bombs total - I bought two. But really? THREE?? I would have happily bought nine of them. Also, I once purchased a lipstick that came packaged in a box, got home, and went to try it on only to find that it had already been sampled by someone else. YUCK. Luckily they were very nice about exchanging it. As I mentioned that the customer service has improved, so has the cleanliness of teh store. That said, some displays tend to just be cluttered no matter what and that can make it tricky to find what you want. I have been to Ulta Salon in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. I had very good highlight results at both places. Yesterday I went to get platinum blonde, all over highlights here. Huge mistake. It took 4 hours and 15 minutes! I thought I was going to pass out from sitting in a chair for so long. I did have hopes that the color would be awesome because she took so much time. Nope. The color was not as light as I asked for and the highlights were not evenly distributed and some were in color chunks. It's never taken anyone in my entire life 4 hours to do my hair. It's usually 2 to 2 and a half and I have dark blonde hair so the highlights usually turn out pretty bright. I should have been suspicious when there were no other beauticians or customers at the salon for 4 hours. It was over $100 and I'm so irritated! read more

OK as far as Ulta's go. Had someone help me find a new foundation. Wasn't my favorite but she did test out different shades on me. Ultimately it wasn't my favorite but I appreciate her assistance. Also the lady who checked me out told me how to have Ulta resend my birthday gift email. So very helpful. Selection was good, but everything wasn't in stock when the sales associate was having me try the different foundations. read more

I usually LOVE ulta stores. I've actually been coming to this store for so long. I am a platinum member and I come every 3 weeks for eyebrows at benefit bar and then buy a few new nice products. Last visit - I grew my eyebrows in and told the girl specifically that I don't want my shape touched just clean up the extra hair too on and bottom and trim. She didn't trim them and sort of tried to tell me she didn't need to even though I insisted (they are my eyebrows right?) and then after she did them she colored them in. I went those washed my face and she waxed half my eyebrow off. Fast forward 3 weeks it hasn't even grown back at all yet. For someone trained with benefit it shouldn't happen especially when you remind them not to do it. For some reason I always have an issue checking out and nobody seems to even care that I am a platinum member either. I have to ask for my free products with purchase (my app will tell me what I'm eligible for) otherwise I'd never get anything. Never have this issue at Sephora. So going forward I found a new eyebrow place and will now buy everything from Sephora. read more

Staff is rude and unpleasant at times, and seems racist too. This is the main reason i don't like going here and staying too long.

What Ulta lacks in customer service and attentiveness they make up for in range of product. As a self proclaimed product whore, you can't go wrong here. Ulta carries a wide variety of drugstore brand products as well as prestige brands. My issue whenever I go into an Ulta is that the displays are either poorly organized and poorly stocked, messy, out of stock, the employees look miserable or are not available to assist or are too busy talking to each other at the register. When I have received help, I have been pleased but it's been few and far between. I'd much rather go to Sephora or MAC, both of which are located in Crocker Park which is about 15 minutes away. read more

The store itself is okay, but don't go here for a gel manicure. First of all, it's $35, which is more than most other places in the area. This would be fine if there was exceptional service, but the service and other places is better as well. There are no swatches of the colors, so you have to rely on the top of the bottle color and opening the bottle, which isn't very accurate. The girl spent a lot of time trying to sell me on other products, which I understand because I've been in sales before, but it didn't make the experience any more pleasant. Finally, the final product looked really bad. When I got outside and looked in the sunlight, there were literally parts of every nail that did not have any top coat on it, causing craters on the nail. I should have said something at the time, but it's really hard to tell somebody to their face that what they just did looks awful. I'm going to have to either fix it or just take it off myself. Next time I will just go to another salon in the area. read more

I love the salon here! I think people don't even realize how great that part of the store is and it may in fact even be the best part! I've had two completely free hair cuts here from beauty points- $50 haircuts for free! If she is still there ask for Brittany. She does an amazing job on long layers on my thick curly hair, uses great products, and does a very good blow out to finish hair. she is very nice and down to earth as the other stylists also seem. It's a highly recommended place to get a haircut- probably the best place I've ever had a haircut, and a friend had the best haircut and coloring I'd ever seen done short at another Ulta. Next time you want to get a haircut, don't be fooled by posh overpriced places, Ulta is the best hair salon! read more

I finally got a great haircut from Hannah! I have been to salons where I have spent $65 plus tip for a haircut that actually left me pissed off. Hannah is great, she asked all the right questions and did exactly what I wanted. She is also very sweet and fun to talk to. I will continue to go to her and highly recommend seeing her for your next cut. read more
