I always have had pretty good luck with any Ulta. I called today to attempt to set up appt for someone to help with makeup & help with aging eyes. Things change as we age & I have spent so much money on products I just wanted someone to help. The gentleman that answered the phone was NO help - actually condescending. I had ordered a brand new shampoo and conditioner online, and as soon as I opened a corner of the package, I could tell that the inside was wet and that something was leaking. I didn't even finish opening the package. Rather I decided that I would stop into this store to exchange the items out for new ones. Well, the young lady at the counter was helpful. But when she called over the manager (a middle-aged white woman) to get help with the transaction, that lady was terrible. She was punching all these buttons before telling me that I owed 23 cents. HOW IN THE WORLD DO I OWE SOMETHING FOR MERELY DOING AN EVEN EXCHANGE OF PRODUCTS? The manager got very huffy, and tried to gaslight me about there being a difference in tax rates meant that I owed money. I told her that couldn't possibly be the case and that I was not paying any more than I'd already paid. I simply want non-leaking versions of what I had ordered. The manager got an attitude and acted like I was crazy, but she punched a few more buttons and then basically told me to have a good day. I walked out with my products and a receipt saying I owed 23 cents, which I still haven't paid to this day. I suggest that Ulta's regional and national management take a look at this particular store and, specifically, that manager. She's not the right one for that job AT ALL! read more

Arrived at Ulta store at 3:40 pm and asked if they performed waxing on face. Employee at front responded yes - there should be a lady over in the brow department who does waxing. I walked over to brow dept. An employee walks up to the counter and I asked her if she does waxing and she replied "yes I do, but I have an appt at 4:00 (it's 3:40, 20 minutes b4 her next appt)." The she proceeded to tell me she had to go out to her car and if I could give her 5-10 minutes, she'd be back to wax my lip area. I told her no problem, I would sit and wait. After waiting for 15 minutes, she comes back to the counter and implies "I was on a break, but I came back early to do your wax." First of all, she did not tell me she was going on break - she told me she had to run out to her car. I told her I'm sorry, I did not know you were on break. This is very unprofessional. She made me wait 15 minutes while she was on break and then proceeded to tell me she came back early for me. WILL NEVER RETURN TO ULTA FOR ANY WAX SERVICES!!! read more

This is the WORST ULTA I have ever shopped at. I stopped by this afternoon to get a few products, and once again, I had a terrible experience. This time I decided to leave a review. There is always a huge line when you try to checkout, even though there are always at least 3-5 sales associates walking the floor. I'm not talking about the hair stylists or skin care consultants that apply makeup or do brows. I'm talking about regular sales associates. There is no excuse for a line!! I waited in line today for almost 20 minutes. I would've walked out, but I had coupons and I needed my products. I was waited on by an angry (and extremely rude) little boy. He obviously did not want to be there. One of the perks of shopping at ULTA are the coupons. I have never been told that I could only use (1), and this boy tried to tell me that today. After we had an argument, he finally scanned all of my coupons, and they were all accepted. Except for the free Philosophy cleanser sample. He said they were all out. I highly doubt it, he just didn't want to look. I am never shopping at this store again. I will drive to the location in Cary or shop online. read more

Guilty pleasures doesn't sound fitting enough for a place that makes you feel pretty. I like that they carry plenty of brands here, of everything! Perfumes, make-up, skincare products, hair products including styling tools. What impressed me mostly was that they have an in-store hair and nail salon AND esthetician. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! If you don't want to work get another job! I have tried to purchase my Mario Badescu moisturizer twice in a 2 month period at your White Oak store in Garner NC. Both times all they had was the tester. Last week during my 2nd visit I asked an associate why hasn't the item been restocked. I got a patronizing, surly, snarky response saying that the item is probably discontinued and the store will no longer stock it. When I asked why the tester wasn't removed, she gave me a snotty answer as if I'm not intelligent enough to understand inventory management. Ulta in general drives me nuts: the prices are outstanding and they have almost anything I could ever need in terms of beauty products. However, I've always found their management and staff to be less than helpful, with the exception of a couple of outstanding employees I've met over the years. Of course, they don't stay. Likely because of how poorly they are treated. In general, any time you have high turnover in a retail environment, you will end up with less experienced managers and staff, and constant short staffing issues. I can't be upset at this particular store's staff, because I have been in several Ultas over the years and each experience is pretty much the same. Meh. Yesterday I waited in line for over 10 minutes (yes, TEN, not an exagerration) as women stacked up behind me, ready to check out. There was one cashier and no one to help her, except one woman who seemed to be wandering around aimlessly. She never stopped to line manage, ask if we found everything we needed, see if we had any questions while we were waiting. That would have been helpful, because I wanted to see if they still had stock in the free gift that came with my purchase. They did not. I left without buying anything, frustrated at the experience. What happened?? I used to love this place, but this is my first time back since 2018. I went in for my NYX Mascara, and a Mirror to hang in my Shower to replace the one I bought here last year. I left empty handed!! The NYX Mascara Display was COMPLETELY empty... ?? I asked the Salesperson and she gave a vague explanation that they sometimes clear out the items that are also sold in retail stores and then build them up again. As far as the shower mirrors, they stopped carrying them. PLUS, there were almost NO PRICES on any of the Makeup! So... I cheated on her once for a Very simple trim, bangs/elbow length hair with a little layering at the edges and even though the stylist was the same price I ended up having bangs I couldn't do a thing with at my next visit with Heli she says to me while holding a piece of it up "It's so uneven, are you cutting your own hair?" I shop at this store all of the time and I love it, but this review is specifically regarding the brow bar. I hate that I lost this young lady's card, because I want to sing her praises to the heavens. I took my 14 year-old daughter there for her first eyebrow wax. The aforementioned sentence should say it all. Let me preface this by saying that my daughter very much wanted to get her eyebrows waxed, but when the time came, you would have thought she was about to get a shot or something. The young lady was incredibly patient and took her time explaining what she was going to do. She also did an outstanding job. She probably needed a stiff drink after we left the store, but she certainly never let on in front of us and we will be repeat customers. I would have been so much less upset if he would have just apologized and taken ownership for messing up my hair but instead he proceeded to tell me that "sometimes layers just don't look good on some people" and that it was "just my hair" no sir, YOU JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO CUT HAIR. A few issues with my stop at Ulta today. First, I really wish there had been an employee available to help match my foundation. Usually I get approached multiple times when I'm at one of their stores but I guess today wasn't my lucky day. And second, they didn't have much of a "travel size item" selection (that temptation section up by the registers.... well no temptation today). Other then that the gal that checked me out was lovely. Very helpful and knowledgeable when I wanted to use some of my rewards points and then pay the remaining balance with cash (this did not happen at a different location and I left that location feeling annoyed). The girl said Clinique is great and not to push them to the side because they're not as popular as the other brands. So I took what she said and bought the product. I absolutely hated it! The product sticks to your face and every single part of your face looks like you have a layer of disgusting make up on! I went back to get a different product and another girl was so sweet and told me that they are sponsored by Clinique so they are told to push Clinique! That irritated me and I told her so that means Ultas goal isn't to help their customers but to push something on someone for their own agenda like a car salesman! Very nice girl, personable, knew what she was doing and did it well. I'm extremely picky because I have naturally curly hair and not everyone knows how to cut curly hair. But Samantha was a pro. Such a wonderful selection of cosmetics. However, due customer service becoming a dying art. This location is unfortunately is no exception to the rule. while it was open on Easter which was a surprise. They were understaffed for the amount of customers in store. Promos were still posted that were over the day before as a example. Great for the customer however staff pushed backed which leaves room for a jaded experience. I'm new to makeup so I choose Ulta in hopes of asking questions. However, both young ladies stayed glued to the register. Which in retail world is no no . Just had the worst brow wax ever. The Benefit brow bar was supposed to be better than my regular nail salon. I went in with admittedly thicker than I would like brows. The technician never asked me about how thick or thin I wanted them. She spent about 7 minutes chatting and seeming to be working diligently. Once I left I looked in the mirror of my car and was shocked at how thick and unkempt they STILL looked. On my car ride home I called back and asked to speak with a manager. I told her that I was upset with the quality and asked to either 1. Come back and see some one else or 2. Get a refund. She refused either and told me that I would need to drive back to the store (20 minutes away) to show her what the problem was. Honestly at this point I just wanted a refund bc I had NO intention of some one else pretending to do my eye brows and waste my time. She said that she was not able to do that. Before I start my review, I'll add that I previously worked at Ulta a few years ago so I understand how employees are treated by the company, wages, etc. With that said, I will never understand why most employees at Ulta feel the need to be so incredibly rude. This Ulta is one of the worst I've ever encountered as far as the employees having absolutely horrible attitudes. Any time I come inside this store I'm either stared at or followed around like I'm about to steal something or completely and totally ignored. Walking up to the registers and multiple employees don't even say a word until it's time to ask for your phone number for the rewards system....no greeting as you walk in or anyone even acknowledging your presence. I avoid this place like the plague and only come in if absolutely necessary. I love Ulta as a company and their rewards system far surpasses Sephora's, but coming inside the store is awful and I order online as much as I can. Ugh. read more

Yesterday, I went to see about a new beauty routine for my dry skin because the current one wasn't working as well as I would like. The girl at the consultation started by asking if I exfoliate/moisturize and I told her that I strictly follow the routine someone from THAT STORE recommended. She went on to say that I just needed to "try harder" or it wouldn't work. I tried to ask for ways to tweak my routine or new products to try and she just kept saying that the current routine would work but I just needed to try harder and follow through more. I tried saying I was but said she could tell I wasn't because I "would already have nicer skin". TERRIBLE service at the benefit brow bar at the location in white oak (Garner, NC). The girl, who didn't even tell me her name, was extremely rude. I had received an email for a free brow service from benefit and looked up that the nearest brow bar was at that location. I tried to use my coupon Thursday evening, but it was after 7 and the girl had already left. I was told that they previously had stopped doing brow bar services, but since benefit had sent me the email, they would honor it. I arrived today, around 4:30, and asked if she was able to fit me in. She said "in absolutely no circumstances can we use this coupon" and told me to try belks. I explained that I had come in the night before and they told me they would honor the coupon as long as I had the email. The email was on my phone, and I showed her. She SNATCHED my phone away from me and literally said "I'm going to check for you but I know for a fact that there is no way they would ever do that", and took my phone up to the front counter. I stayed at the benefit brow bar and made small talk with another employee (Ellie) while I waited. The girl returned and looked ANGRY that I had come in. She confirmed what they had told me last night and that I should under no circumstances "get used to exceptions being made for me". She then informed me that she was booked until next Tuesday and said they go by appointment only. I said okay, and asked what time worked for her on Tuesday, she cut me off and said "just pick a time" as if annoyed I had considered HER schedule. I chose 11, and received a benefit appointment card and left. I then drove to the Ulta on crossroads blvd. I went to the benefit counter immediately and asked the girl (Heather) if she had any appointments left for the day. She said she could fit me in next, and asked me to go talk to the manager (Elena) about the benefit email as she penciled me in. I talked to Elena about my experience at the other store, and she went above and beyond my expectations. Not only did she honor my brow service, but she then gave me free samples and apologized profusely, genuinely sorry that I had been treated so rudely. Even without the samples, I was extremely grateful for her honoring my email without so much as an eye roll! While this store is great and carries a lot of great products, I had one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had at the Garner Ulta. There was one employee that I must say that was really nice and when you walked into the door, he welcomed you to the store. But one girl (I am going to keep her name a secret) was one of the rudest retail employees I have ever dealt with. This girl came up to the register and had just a nasty attitude. She called the next person up to the cashier and the person in front of me wasn't paying attention. I waited about a minute or two before I decided that I would just go ahead and get checked out since the woman in front of me was clearly in la la land. The cashier rudely told me to get back in line where I came from and told me that lady in front of me was next. It's not like she tried to get her attention or anything either after she had called her up to the front. She just stood there with the most stuck up look on her face and expected us to figure it out on our own. She has to be one of the rudest employees in retail that I have ever came in contact with. Not only was she rude to me, but when I signed up for the loyalty card, she forgot to give it to me. She was lazy and rude. If I had done something like that at my previous retail job, I would have been fired. I will not shop at this store again, unless I really need something, and that is heartbreaking because this store has a lot of nice stuff in it. I had my hair done the other day by Gene Miller. It was the best hair cut Ive ever had. Gene is truly a very talented hair designer. He created a hair design that was fit just for me. He took everything into consideration such as my age, my career and the time I have to dedicate to my hair in the mornings before he decided what style he was going to create for me.
