I went in for a haircut yesterday, 7/14/2023 with Tiffani K. I went in with very long hair, and just needed a simple hair cut, straight across the bottom, to clean up my stringy ends and get a healthy cut. No layers, no color, literally just a straight across the bottom hair cut - the simplest hair cut. I expressed to Tiffani at the beginning of the appointment that I REALLY didn't want to go super short, and just needed the dead ends cut off. She offered to curl my hair which I declined. When the haircut was over, much to my surprise, there was a large section of hair in the front, on one side only, that is at least 4-5 inches shorter than the rest of my hair. What?! Not sure how this happened. It seriously seems like she cut my hair with her eyes closed. My hair was already cut a lot shorter than what I expressed I wanted. The only way to fix this would be to cut my hair off to the shortest layer, but of course I felt uneasy entrusting her with this and like I expressed, I did NOT want super short hair. She tried to "blend" the really short section to the rest of the hair but it only made it worse. Looks like I will be only wearing my hair in a clip, bun, or half up for the unforeseeable future. She was very apologetic, but unfortunately my hair is botched and it will take at least 6 months to correct. I was almost in tears when I saw it. I highly recommend going to a salon or a place with more experience if you are considering a hair cut! Mistakes happen, but unfortunately this one will take awhile to correct. read more

However one of the associates who seemed to have more makeup knowledge gave me wrong information about makeup ingredients and her recommendation did not work for my brown skin which I only found out after I got home and tried the product. The San Tan Ulta is not terribly far for me, but I have a few that are closer. I happened to be in the area on Wednesday and stopped in to see what NYX SMLC they had in stock. To my surprise, it was fuller than most- however the colors I was interested in were ALL opened. None labeled as testers. What? I took the lip colors of my interest to the counter, since there were no assistants nearby, and asked if they had a backstock. She explained what they had on the floor is all they have but assured me that Thursday they would replenish the stock and I should check back in... which I did. When I returned, sadly none of the colors were restocked. Were the days mixed up or... ? Its really hard to tell. They selections of products throughout the store is much messier than others I have visited. I picked out a few other items and while in line I pulled up their current coupon on my phone from their website. The cashier told me she would not accept it. I looked at my phone again and the dates were valid. I had to ask her again to please look at the coupon and after a few minutes of going back and forth she said "Oh, yes I can take this!" :/ Why would you not have been able to? I just recently did some major damage to my long hair (went from auburn to blonde over the course of a few months) and scheduled an appointment with Courtney S., as my old stylist is sort of MIA at the moment. Courtney is a miracle worker! It's rare that I leave a salon completely in love with my hair after such a drastic change (we're talking hair down to my lower back cut into a lob), but Courtney made it look amazing! After having made the rounds around various salons & stylists (all the way out to Cave Creek as well as several high end locations e.g. Dolce $$$$), I finally found the stylist who not only knows how to style short hair but introduced me to the perfect color. Tammy is professional, insightful, thoughtful, helpful, listens, honest and truly kind. These are but a few of her fantastic qualities. Did I mention she's a beauty as well? At my first appointment, Tammy discussed prices with me. Imagine that! She never rushes and is willing to help find a product alongside you. I would like to start off by saying that the women who work at this place are beyond judgmental. I wrote my story to the company and never even got a follow up. So me and my boyfriend where in the parking lot looking for coupons on our apps. We then went into the store and looked around. Mind you, it was the holiday season. I couldn't help but tell that people inside the place where watching us. Maybe because we were two males or maybe because we are Hispanic. After not finding anything we walk out. A cop shows up out of no where and asks us what we are doing. This being right in front of the store where everyone can see us. He asks us to sit down and takes our IDs. He told us that a person inside thought we were looking inside her car and then thought it was suspicious we didn't buy anything. Again it's the holiday season? He ended up being cool with us. I was greeted as soon as I got into the store. I came into the store knowing exactly what I wanted. As I was making my way to find my product I was approached multiple times asking if I needed help which I appreciated. I realized they didn't have my shade of foundation. I approached the closest employee to me to see if they had any more in stock or something similar. She proceeded to let me know there was nothing similar when another employee nearby overhead and stepped in and suggested another brand to me. I was in a rush and didn't have time for them to color match me. The employee went to go grab the foundation for me and color match me without me even knowing it based off of just looking at my skin color. (They currently can't put product on your face due to covid) I told her I was in a rush so she took me back to the hair salon part of the store to ring me up so I wouldn't have to wait in line. I really wish I got this woman's name because she deserves to be recognized for her outstanding customer service! I have never been so impressed by an ulta store before! Just went here to get myself matched for make up... I couldn't do it myself and Tasha helped me. She was amazing and tried all these different colors on me. Instead of deciding what looked good, she walked me to the natural light so i could see how my make up would actually look on me! The staff here is what makes this review a 2 star. They are not helpful whatsoever and even if they offer to help, they have quite the attitude. I shop higher end at Ulta and I always feel like the staff is judging and looking everyone up and down. I get that it's the beauty industry but anytime I get the chance to go out in a clean face, my yoga pants and a tank, I'm all about it. They are remodeling and I actually prefer the old setup better but maybe it'll be better once it's all finished. I can say that I have had ok experiences with their salon department, but the cosmetic side is downright awful. Today was the last straw for me. Literally, EVERY SINGLE TIME I go in there to stock up on my cosmetic products, they are out of most of the things I need. I don't know who is in charge of maintaining their stock, but they have no clue what they are doing because they can't ever seem to keep enough product on their shelves. It's been this way for over a year. Want the latest eyeshadow palette that came out? Forget it, they'll be out of it. Looking for your favorite black eyeliner pencil? Forget it, they'll be out of that too. Want to shop for a new eyeliner because they are out of yours? Ha! Good luck finding a tester and having to spend $20 on a new one without knowing if its worth the money. On top of that, while shopping today, I was watched like a hawk by the lady working in cosmetics. She was really friendly, but goodnight! I don't want someone standing 5 feet away from me as I browse the isles for 45 minutes. Whenever I changed isles, she did. It was so absurd. Sorry I didn't curl my hair to perfection and put on a ton of makeup before I came shopping today, but this isn't Scottsdale and it certainly doesn't mean that I'm a thief. So I finally went to check out, expecting that since I was spending the $30 or more on Benefit products, that I would get my free travel size Benefit items that they were promoting on signs in the store (hooray for free travel size of They're Real Mascara!). Did he offer them to me when he finished checking me out? No. I had to ASK for them as he was trying to send me on my way, and then acted like I ruined his day by bringing it up. Ridiculous. I won't be shopping here anymore. I am not going to spend money on high-end cosmetics at a store that treats me like a thief, is constantly out of everything I need, and doesn't adhere to the special promotions that THEY have advertised. I am really super picky when it comes to stylists. I feel like many places are expensive just to be expensive, most notably the extremely overpriced day spa/hair styling/massage/pedicure/manicure/jewelry line selling monstrosities around the valley. After having a sub par experience at one of those places I decided to give Ulta a try. They were running their holiday deal. A cut and accent highlights for $50! Super cheap! Lacey Jo did my cut and color, during the morning of Christmas Eve. I felt like she understood exactly what I wanted and didn't need too much guidance. I got a graduated bob that I wanted very short in the back. The last place I went to, the stylist pushed me against going super short in the back saying something about it not working well with my hair type. I found that to be odd considering I had it done before and it worked well. Thankfully Lacey Jo didn't say any such garbage and cut it how I wanted, which was fabulous! She massaged my scalp for what seemed like 15 minutes when she washed it (heaven) and was very nice and personable throughout the experience. The great thing is, it's only $40 for a cut and $50 for the accent highlights normally which is WAY cheaper than so many other places out there. I was so thrilled with my service here that I booked out my next appointment upon leaving, something I never do. read more

Horrible customer service! Sales staff needs training and management is never on site. The store shelves are always empty and never have the product in stock. Sales items are never displayed out on time. If you have a sale on your products you need to be stocked and ready for the customer when the stores opens. Opening the boxing during the sales and not being organized is NOT good customer service. I shouldn't have to ask for products that is listed in flyer. I am shocked that sales staff doesn't know what is on sale. I don't like seeing tables at the front of store with huge signage - $12.99 for shampoo - go to the counter to pay for it and it's ring up for $15.99. The cashier tells me I'm sorry but they have the wrong product on the table and they have charge me the higher price. Came back to the store the next day and they never fixed the table with the wrong product. This store needs help! Don't even get me started with Ulta Hair Salon. The stylists can't keep their the appointments they book. Always calling in sick. Stations are dirty. Nothing like waiting for the stylist to show up for your appointment and 20 minutes goes by and a sales associate tells you - your stylist called in sick. Went here for the first time today and the only reason I am writing this review is because I was offended by the number of questions regarding my personal information I was asked at the checkout counter. I had been to this location a few times and I guess I forgot to Yelp it... I got my hair cut here a long time ago, maybe more than a year ago? Neway, Lacey Jo is a great sylist... she listened to what I wanted and didn't cut too much hair off... she did a great job on my bangs too, which I've had nightmares about past bang-up bang jobs... hahaha...but seriously, I've had people botch up my bangs and it REALLY sucks waiting for them to grow out! I usually get my hair done by my bff when I visit San Diego, but I've not been able to get down there for a while and my hair REALLY needed a cut. (I hate cheating on you Mandi, but I just couldn't go another day with my hair lookin all skraggly and beat!) So I called Lacey and she fit me in late Saturday night, I think she may have stayed late to do it.. very nice of her. My hair looks and feels so much better and again she didn't cut off too much, cuz I'm still growing it out (trying to see how long I can get it to grow before I go insane), but she she cut off enough to make it look nice and healthy again. She's easy to talk to and genuine... conversation doesnt seem forced for fakey, which can be awkward sometimes. Cute personality and knows what she's doing. She recently got a promotion and I'm happy for her, she seems to really like it at the Ulta Salon. She also recommended a great clarifying shampoo (RedKen $13) which I'm loving!
