I've been going to this Ulta location since July of 2025 when I decided to get blonde highlights in my dark and curly hair. My experience with my stylist Kelley S. has been nothing short of remarkable. Being a curly girl, and I have had many bad haircut and hair experiences in the past with inexperienced stylists , and needless to say, I have found not only an incredible stylist, but a kind, compassionate, and caring human being in Kelley. All of the wonderful women at this location have made me feel seen, accepted, and beautiful in their salon and I am so grateful for all of the time I get to spend with them. I always leave feeling like my hair type and texture was properly cared for, which is hard to find for textured hair like mine. If I could give Kelley and this salon 6/5 stars I would. if I could leave a "0" star, I would. I just went into the Gilbert store off Market Street and was trying to make a purchase. I had forgotten our store credit card so had my wife on the phone to provide them all the details they needed. both our names were on the card. while the girl at the register was trying to help me, the store manager (blonde hair) came over TWICE and shut it down saying that my wife had to be here in person, even though I had all her info and had her on the phone to answer their questions. at this point, I walked out and told the manager they had horrible customer service. I would not recommend this store to anyone. they obviously do not put the customer first and are not willing to go out of their way to help a customer. save your time and money and go elsewhere who will treat you well and want to keep you as a customer. read more

I went in to Ulta's Gilbert, Az location & was looking for a hydrating medium coverage stick foundation for mature skin & a helpful, knowledgeable & lovely young lady named "NATALIE" spent a good 25 mins with me patiently selecting the best Dior foundation stick & color matched me perfectly. I love this gorgeous shade & brand of foundation! It's comfortable & flawless finish. This is the best customer service I've ever had at Ulta. She went above & beyond for me. I'm writing this review because I had a terrible experience 4/7/2026 I showed them an info photo of what people call " calico hair" the full bottom of my hair was supposed to be blonde black and then bright red. I was told by Nina m the stylist that she could get me to my desired color at day. I had arrived at 11am. Towards the end of my service, I realize that the color was not what I wanted. She then continued to tell me that she has a client at 5 PM and asked me to come back the next Monday to fix the color for FREE. I left paying $251 for color that wasn't complete. Due to work restrictions I could not come in on Monday. I then made an appointment on Wednesday 4/8/2026 with a different stylist Kelley S. I got to have my appointment at 10 AM. I talked to a manager to make sure that my appointment would still be free with a different stylist. Liza the manager said yes it would be free and gave me a refund for the $251 for the incomplete service with Nina. I showed the Manager and Kelley the original info photo that I wanted. They then said that there was no way that they would be able to get me to that color and that Nina shouldn't have told me that.. I said okay. I don't ask if they could bring me back to my natural color which was black. They said yes and that the service would be complementary due to the fact that they messed up my hair.. at the end of that service I was then charged $81 and told I cannot leave the salon chair until I pay it. Me being 17 I was scared and didnt know what to say. They threatened to call the cops if I didn't pay.. I told them that at the beginning of the service that they said it would be free due to the fact that their stylist messed up my hair in the beginning. They said " we never said that and it's not Kelley fault that it's messed up so you need to pay her." I said okay and left so the cops wouldn't be called. I literally contacted corporate and they say that there's no way for them to pay their stylist so that they cannot refund me. I lost out on $81+$30 " tip" on top of that. Just for them to bring me back to my original color after their stylist messed up my hair. When I left the first time my hair was orange and black no red no blonde. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that I had to pay a stylist because they can't pay them. I hope management sees this and hopefully talks to both stylist. read more

Unfortunately I will no longer be frequenting this location of Ulta. I can in and made a purchase of over $100 and one my items had a damaged box, it was for me so I didn't care about the box as long as the item (an eyeshadow palette, easily breakable) was intact. One SA (who seemed genuinely kind) explained this was the last one in the store and when I asked if they could open the box to check if the palette was cracked they refused and told me to wait a week and come back and do an exchange-whet?! Thankfully upon checking the palette in my car it was fine. The woman who was ringing me on the other hand seemed like she was annoyed I was there, annoyed I was asking to redeem the company's loyalty points and coupons I receive as a LOYAL Ulta shopper. Fast forward today, I need to return an un unused item with receipt one week out and a different woman ringing me up asks if there is anything wrong with them item, i told her "no and it's sealed" she angrily glares at me while agressively opening the box and checking the front, back and side of my product which was in fact, unused. I had one of the best make up experiences of my life thanks to Kori and Leena at Ulta store 183. I rarely wear makeup and don't really know much about it. My daughter was getting married so I went to Ulta hoping to find some make up to wear. Kori and Leena not only helped me find the perfect makeup, that matched my skin perfectly, but they sat me down and patiently taught me how to use it. What could have been an intimidating and uncomfortable situation for me was fun and uplifting. Came here to get my makeup done for my wedding reception. I was on a tight schedule and the makeup artist started the appointment ten minutes late. This could have been fine until she got eyeliner on my contact lens and I had to take it out and was stranded at the store waiting for someone to bring me a new contact lens. I have had good experiences having makeup done here before, but have learned this is not the place to go for any sort of important event. read more

I LOVE Ulta. I LOVE their sales associates. The gals in the prestige section are always amazing, especially the Benefit gal. But the manager...I had a return that the sales associate had to get a managers help with. The manager came over and must have been in a bad mood because she seemed very impatient with me when I asked a question about the return (I was in a great mood btw and it was just a general question... Not like I was unhappy or displeased or arguing with her, just a question so I would know if I had a similar scenario in the future). It seems like about 1/2 of the team members that are on at any given time are not friendly. I can usually say something to cheer them up and the interaction goes well. I'm speculating here, but it's been my experience in retail, odds are that when over 1/2 of the staff on any given shift is unhappy, it's a management problem. read more

I love shopping at this Ulta. Whenever I need beauty products or bath & body, Ulta is my go-to! There is an amazing selection of products and I don't think I have ever left this store empty handed. They also have a fantastic rewards program, which plays a major role in 'why' I can never leave empty handed. To make things even better, the staff is phenomenal! Someone is always available to help when needed and assistance is always provided with a warm smile. The Gilbert Ulta is not exactly close to where I live, but I prefer this store because it has the best product selection of any of the other Ulta's that are closest to me. Also, the other Ulta's dont have Lily! I think all the Ulta's need a Lily. Lily is the young lady that assists me and she is friendly, knowledgeable about Ulta's offerings, and just such a pleasure to deal with. I cannot sing her praises enough. Everyone that shops there needs to find Lily when they need assistance...or find her even if you dont need assistance because she is great to chat with. I have been shopping at the Gilbert location for a while and can honestly say that the whole staff is amazing. BUT....there is still no one like Lily!! I'm not a huge make up wearer, but on occasion to come for moisturizer, and small items such as mascara, eye shadow etc . I came with one of my kids today who had a gift card and needed to get more of some face wash and other skin care items. While she shopped I headed towards the moisturizer etc. I was helped pretty quick which o appreciated, but after I few minutes I felt more hassled or pressured to purchase some pretty pricy items. It seemed to be a new item from what I gathered from signage. I explained I'd like to look around a bit more, but was approached multiple times by the same employee. Don't get me wrong I appreciate help, but this felt forced and like it was commissioned based or something. All in all I left empty handed and will most likely order elsewhere online. Love this store but just recently had a bad experience. I was waiting on fragrance to unlock a couple and the Woman with the blonde hair and bangs working was literally walking around me asking if they needed help,just straight ignored me. Okay that's fine I get it maybe she thought I was fine. Wasn't until some couple walked in she asked who they were shopping for and they wanted the same fragrance I did. She comes over with them to where I'm standing and just goes infront of me didn't say excuse me or anything just ignored I was there and grabs the fragrance for them. I had to go up to the register to ask someone for help instead. Probably thought I was just some kid not gonna spend any money. Relatively positive experience in this store. A lot of products here and most items were in stock. The service we received was friendly and efficient. It's nice to be able to browse in peace with help available should you need it. There are lots of 'try me' testers throughout the store, which is great but clearly customers don't always care about cleanliness. The lack of a fifth star here is a result of that. There's an opportunity to tidy up the testing stations and particularly the small trash cans. read more

Second, Lindsey is a true hair styling savant and I cannot stress that enough. She greets you with this infectious smile, listens to you during consult, and my back was dry after shampooing. I took my daughter for an appointment at the salon to have her makeup done before school started. We were looking for the makeup artist, do a natural everyday makeup routine that was pretty basic and work with my daughter on how to apply. The charge for this service was $50. While my daughter's makeup looked nice and we were able to find some products for her to use. The stylist never spent any time with her on how to apply it and I feel that this was a complete waste of money. read more

Had a weird experience today at this location. Now I totally understand being friendly and giving great customer service. The reason I made this trip was because I was looking for a cologne that they sometimes have in stock but usually have to try the Tempe location. Anyway, went in, they did not have it. So I decided to try out others with my wife. In the time span of 5-10 minutes had 5 employees ask if we need any help. At one point an employee watched us and said "just sniffing around I see" . Weird thing to say? It's Ulta, there are perfumes and cologne! Then an employee came up to us, we said we were okay then still proceeded to come help us . Helped us find something outside of what we were looking for, said out of stock then magically while we were leaving they had a return . We did purchase it, however I do not like being harassed, no one else was being bothered this much. I will not be returning to this location. The one in Tempe is better anyway. read more

I got so lucky to get an appt with Shmay for a haircut. She is a master at the texturizer shears. She is a perfectionist and knows her craft well. I had been unsuccessful getting a haircut for months due to only having Sunday available. I now have a new stylist and will return to see Shmay every 8 weeks. I wish I could undo this entire visit, down to even considering getting my eyebrows done. I decided I would get them done, solely to clean them up from the part outside of the shape since I didn't want to over tweeze. From the moment we got to the Benefit Brow Bar inside Ulta, the woman was short and asked me nothing of what I wanted. I told her specifically I had just spent the last year regrowing them & only wanted them cleaned up outside the shape. She mapped them out, it looked great & everything went downhill, quickly. I asked her why it felt that she had waxed pretty high, she said nothing. She shows me & half my eyebrow was gone. The entire regrowth & width was nothing but a thin line. She cut them in half after and now they're short & uneven. To top it off, chunks missing from random places & two completely different style brows. I'm mortified. I told the cashier who only said "they look the same to me, I can't just have you not pay." I said "I'm not looking for anything free, she was rude, short and didn't speak a word to me when I asked her where my eyebrows went!" He walked to the back of the store and said "my manager said you don't have to pay but next time you will." Next time? That's got to be a joke. She inspected the bad cut & made very careful recommendations. She kept as much length as possible & repaired the layers. She did beautiful framing around my face & straightened & textured my bangs. I was so happy after she had finished. The proof is in the fact that its now been several weeks & the shape & layers are holding strong. Sabrina is a magician! Also, kudos to the managing staff at this store. I GLADLY paid for the service plus tip when Sabrina had finished my cut & style (I had already spent $90 on the BAD service), but before I left the parking lot, the salon called me back into the store to surprise me. After verifying that my first haircut was indeed a disaster, the management at this store comped my service. THAT friends, is outstanding customer service. Then when I countered and said it's apart of their sale he was rude and off put when he checked on his phone and realized he was wrong. Instead of being kind and friendly I over heard him complaining about us to his manager saying "They were so rude." Terrible customer experience. They had more associates standing talking to each other than to customers. I went in yesterday to find a gift for my sister and wondered over to the brow bar for myself. Anna in Gilbert introduced me to the Chanel waterproof stylo brow pencil. She raved how she had tried everything and this one was perfect on its own, easy to apply, looked perfect every time and lasted through her workouts. She quickly matched my color trying each one just to be sure. It was everything she said it was. she even mentioned it would last for month, so I am sure that is true as well.
