Lately Sunday Riley has been my favorite skin care purchase and it's been so nice to have a spot so close to home to stock up. While this location is a little more slower pace than the craziness of Bella Terra, they typically still sell out of product first. I've been needing a brow wax for awhile, and since I happened to be next door at Whole Foods, I figured why not check for a last minute opening?! I popped by the Benefit Brow Bar & Sandra was able to fit me in (: Sandra, the brow expert, was AMAZING!! Honestly this visit was quite disappointing . I came later in the day and I hoped to be able to get my eyebrows done . The first person I asked for help was super nice and friendly and the reason for the stars. She brought me over to see if they could squeeze me in. The other lady at the bar rudely said "no. She's with someone" and so the First Lady and I said I can wait and instead of just saying "oh we can't do today but can reschedule another day" or something like that but no. This is a review for the salon. I had a great experience with Bonnie! She listened to what I was looking to achieve and talked me through the process. It was a big deal because I was cutting about 12 inches from my hair. She did a fantastic job and I left with the color and cut I was looking for. The other ladies and gentlemen around were also very kind. It was a very positive atmosphere. Walked in yesterday and there were two younger Latina ladies at the front and one Caucasian lady behind. They stood at the door chatting and all saw me walk in, and did not say anything to me or offer any help. Then a lady who was right behind me entered and one of the younger ladies asked if she was looking for anything in particular. I walked around them to see if I could get any help since I was looking for a specific brand of eyeliner. However they all ignored me. Lots of staff in the store that just stood around and do nothing or just walked around doing nothing. Definitely would not recommend this location, but looks like according to multiple reviews below this place is notorious for poor service. Maybe management needs to re evaluate some workers. read more

My sister had recommended I get a haircut at Ulta and so I chose the store nearest me. Had never been to this salon before and let me say, super impressed!! Such amazing, professional, and thorough treatment! Haeli was so personable, sweet, and has made my hair look amazing. I asked for layers, curtain bangs, and a trim. I showed her photos for inspo and she did EXACTLY what I wanted. Not to mention since getting my hair done I have received the most compliments I've ever gotten on my hair. I'm trying to ditch hair extensions once and for all and I swear I have never felt confident not wearing them until last week! Turns out that I need cool tones so she got Jenna. Jenna had the best advice and spent a good time with my niece and I. I bought a black gloss (among other things) due to her expertise. It looks very good and I would have never tried it Today we had Sandra help us pick a lipstick (she was wearing that color), we said hi to Jenna, and lucky for us the system was back up so we could pay for the lipsticks. Hannah is so sweet and knowledgeable!!! I came in here about two months ago in desperate need of some basics (literally had NEVER done makeup before in my life). All I had to my name was an Ilia mascara, a beauty care naturals blush, and a drugstore lip gloss. I had never even bothered to wear or try makeup (minus the few high school dances I attended and my college graduation, in which I put on mascara and called it good), due to some deeply rooted insecurities and pain. However, God has really been working on my heart and showing me that I am worthy, worthy to take care of myself, to feel good about myself, to look beautiful, to dress up more, to take risks, not because of what others say or what I may feel, but because He has chosen me as His own, and in His eyes I am enough. Anyway!! This led me to Ulta. Wide eyed and EXTREMELY out of my comfort zone. I cannot express to you how grateful I was for Hannah's help. She not only gave me rundowns of products, but makeup in general! She spent well over an hour assisting me and proving me with such helpful information. I didn't only walk out of the store with some makeup products, but also with so much more makeup knowledge. She showed me tips that she uses, personal product recommendations, and also led me to products that flattered my features and instilled confidence in me. I purchased a bottle of bare minerals make up. I did not use it and never took it out of the bag. The packaging was still unopened and I had the receipt. They refused to refund my money and I could not exchange it for the same product in a different shade. They said it was against their "new" refund policy. I could not exchange it for store credit either. i was told "there's nothing we can do.". I felt there was plenty they could do, they just didn't want to. If you're of mixed race of African American or even look like your Mexican do not come to this store. And judging by the reviews it's very clear who they will cater to. Unfortunately, not only my 18 year old bi-racial niece mixed with African American was racially profiled by an tasteless employer literally standing over her while she was looking for lip gloss and I too by Emily and Leslie (she didn't have a name tag on so I don't know if Leslie gave me her real name). Of course this isn't the first time we've been racially profiled, it is very easy for me to ignore unworthy racial ignorances but this was exploitive behavior that I don't want anyone else to experience this or feel low because of someone else's pompous management. It was mortifying to watch the manger Emily command Leslie to watch me, so I intentionally walked all over the store to make sure I wasn't being sensitive or in a fret. Not once was I alone to the point of me locking eyes with Leslie looking at me over the shelves and between the sign on top of them. Not only does Emily have negative reviews on Google but now here too, while influencing her team and running the store like it's an army out to capture people. I have to laugh because I am not even over exaggerating one bit that it's mind blowing how they were conducting themselves. Emily's pretentious Dunning-Kruger Effect assumed I was Mexican like her with a big purse that actually cost more than a month's salary for her, intentionally enjoyed degrading myself, my niece, and sister. Again, if you don't want your day ruined by being embarrassingly racially profiled do not come here because there is no discreetness or proper conduct. I apologize for the rant, I just never experienced such distasteful performance that you would think a person that is proud of herself would want to present or run her store in Huntington Beach as a reputable and respectable fashion especially serving a customer base of women. I understand there are people that will steal and Im pretty sure they have some type of protocol. I do not know what they're taught to do for situations like that but what I do know is that was horribly executed, definitely unconscionable and unethical. read more

I went in here one day to grab a couple of things. As I was browsing around, one of the workers made a rude comment under her breath but loud enough to make sure that I heard about my appearance. She called me a wh***. It was a hot day. I was wearing shorts that were appropriate length, past my fingers if my arms were down at my sides. It was completely unprovoked and unwarranted. Very poor customer service at this store. After looking thru the ulta catalog that was mailed to my house, I noticed there was 30% off select mascaras. I tried to purchase my mascara online but the 30% off was not coming up. I chatted with the chat bot for 20 mins and they offered 10% off. I said I'll just go in store and deal with the 30% off not coming up. I get to the store and the employee tried to tell me it was a limited promotion for mascara week and it was over. She called the manager neither one of them had the catalog in the store. They would not honor the discount even though it's in their current catalog with a full page mascara ad stating 30% off! She said it doesn't explicitly say the dates in the catalog but it was for a promotion that already ended. The catalog prices are valid from 2/16 thru 3/7 and today is 2/27. I was buying other things and I just left everything on the counter and walked out. It's the principle. Ulta should honor the price in the catalog. PERIOD.
