I went to Ulta to have my hair styled into a bun by Samy, who is labeled as a "master stylist." I paid a high price, but left with hair that was damaged and overprocessed. Parts of my hair honestly felt burned from excessive heat, and I even experienced breakage afterward. The bun itself looked sloppy and not suited to my hair length at all. The final result looked awful and was nowhere near worth what I was charged. For someone at this level, I don't understand how this was acceptable. My hair was left damaged and overprocessed. She was also dismissive and not understanding when I raised concerns.I won't be coming back. If you're okay risking damage to your hair, this is the stylist for you. read more

She is one of the best stylists I have ever had as she worked with me to create a plan to grow-out my silver hair and has also given me a haircut that has helped me in this long process. The Ulta at Leesburg Village seems average, just like any other Ulta. The best part of shopping at an Ulta store is that most items can be sampled. There was a lack of the tester items this store. I'm not saying nothing had a tester, but some of the makeup items I had been interested in had no available testers. As far as inventory, they had everything in this store, so much so, that they had additional displays on wheels for new releases. The placement of these displays was a bit awkward, making it difficult to navigate that part of the store. The store associates offered to help me a few times in finding what I needed. I prefer to shop at the Ulta store here in West Hartford. read more

Please beware of ulta beauty salon. It is not curl friendly. I booked a silk press, haircut, and cecred hydration. The price quoted online was 173. I got in the store I was quoted 91 for silk press, 61 for a blow out. 31 for detangling, 64 for haircut, 35 for hydration cecred treatment. I agreed with the for detangling fee if needed. And additional time for density but charging me $64 when their standard pricing for a haircut is $47. I was told it's because I have curly hair when you're straightening it is crazy. She snatched the paper out of my hand and told me her coworkers wouldn't even touch my hair, but she was doing it because she supported people who look like her and she was willing to do it, please avoid this place at all cost! read more

I live in apartments nearby and was really excited to have Ulta near me because I love to dabble in new products, but I truly HATE this location and would much rather take the drive to One Loudon's Sephora. The employees here are really wishy-washy. They're either ok or rude and dismissive. It just isn't worth the toss up to me to go in sometimes because I don't want to deal with their attitudes. I've certainly realized how different they treat you if your make up is done or if you're dressed well, you'll receive decent treatment, but if you're in loungewear or active wear without make up they won't even greet you. I tried to ask my cashier today how she was doing to make small talk and all she kept doing was talking to other cashiers. I understand they have a job to do, but it's rude and so impersonal. Another issue I have is I try to come in to smell new fragrances as that's another thing I enjoy buying, but they hardly ever have their testers available. Which is truly unfortunate. I've tried going on a non busy weekday and also on weekends, but have ran into the same issue. Their towers hardly ever have prices on them and when you deal with so many rude associates, I'd rather just not ask anyone for a price and move on. Lastly, had to pull out half the cup of testers to be able to find the shade I was looking to swatch for the brow products, what kind of system is this?? I never get greeted or service when I go to beauty stores, including Ulta. Being a bit androgynous and not a heavy makeup wearer, I'm used to it. I go there for perfume and hair/skin care and I can get that on mu own. However, they have since locked their perfume (which I get). I stood in front of my brand of choice for ages, trying to get someone to open it for me. There were sales people on the floor and available so that's why I didn't go to the counter. Just in case the owner of the store is wondering why they're losing revenue, here's why: I had about $230 in merchandise at the checkout counter and asked if I could kindly receive my birthday gift. The young lady said yes and laid out a selection of tiny samples. After selecting the one I wanted, she rang it up for 1 cent and then asked for my phone number. Once she pulled up my information she saw that by birthday was a few weeks back in January and then informed me that I couldn't have the sample because it was now February. There were no customers in line behind me so I asked if she could double check with her manager but after consulting with her, she came back and said no. I'm actually quite shocked, knowing they have buckets of samples behind the counter and I was planning to purchase all full sized / non sale products. I love Ulta, for me its often one stop shopping. The challenge with Ulta is if you're shopping at different stores often the layout varies (kind of like the grocery store). Overall they have most everything I need. They seem to be focusing more on cosmetics so some of the items I used to buy here (stuff that you'd find at big box competitors) they seem to have squeezed out. Which is kind of a shame. Also it pays to get one of those Ulta Rewards cards its free btw. Which means they'll send a circular to your house and they usually have coupons which are pretty good. I would have given this location 5 stars but the one main draw back is the checkout area, it almost seems like putting it was kind of an afterthought as its just sort of squeezed into the front corner of the store. Thankfully it wasn't busy when I was there but I can't imagine to crazy confusion with the line if it was. read more

Overall Ultra is a good place, but the one in Leesburg is a hot mess. Never opens on time and often see angry people in line complaining about staff not showing up on time for their appointments. My kids went to buy stuff from Ulta ages 10 and 12 with a friend of mine. My children counted cash and handed to the cashier, Anna Marie. Anna Marie struggled counting the money and demanded more money!!! My friend covered them. I called the store and her drawer was over!!! Watch them they will take more than amount owed! Never shopping there again!!! Then they tried to give me back my cash refund in a gift card/merchandise credit. WTHeck?? My kids found better pricing same product online. This place has a lot of different brands but when we visited the store on a Thursday night there were only two people working. It was impossible to get any assistance so after wandering the store for about 15 minutes we finally found what we were looking for. Unfortunately, there wasn't anyone at the register and there was someone in line in front of me. After waiting five minutes in line without any acknowledgment we left the store empty handed. I got two things during my visit to Leesburg Ulta. I got snapped at, and I got beauty products. I'll adopt a snapping turtle if I want to be snapped at. I don't need to travel to Ulta for that. If I need beauty products, I'll go to Sephora from now on. Long story short: I bought Christmas gifts. I was expecting one of the items to be 50% off at $20, but I was charged full price at $40. I called the store about it, the lady who I spoke to put me on hold, when she came back said that she checked with the manager and the sale expired yesterday, but they would price override the item if I came back into the store. I came back into the store and walked to the register. Grace greeted me, "Welcome back!" I thought this was a friendly greeting, but boy: I dead wrong. She was expecting me. I briefly explained to her that I had been overcharged. The following dialogue went like this: Grace: "So you want to return it, [which was more of a snide comment than a question] because the sale expired yesterday so it's not something we're going to honor." Me: "I don't want to return it. The lady I talked to on the phone said that you would discount it." Grace turned to the employee next to her at the cash wrap and snapped at her in an angry tone "You told her that? I told you that we don't honor that sale. We don't do that, ok?" Then she turned to me and said with the biggest attitude I've ever encountered, "The sale expired yesterday so we won't be honoring the promotion." Let's pause here. I wasn't the only customer at the cash wrap. There was another customer next to me. Grace not only snapped at her staff, she humiliated her staff in front of several customers, all over $20. Last time I checked, leaders have productive conversations with their staff outside of customer's earshot, unless Ulta's company culture goes against that and encourages their leaders to train their staff through shame and public humiliation. At this point, I just looked at her and said, once again, "She said you would discount it." She immediately snapped at me and said, "Do you have it with you?" I told her, "Yes." "Go get it." Umm, e x c u s e m e ? ? What?? What type of power trip was that? I'm not aware of any policy that says that I have to have the item with me to get a price adjustment, and if that is actually a policy I sure didn't receive an explanation for why I had to leave the store and come back for the second time in one night. Did she think I was lying? Did she think I already returned the product and wanted to get some extra cash? Was she expecting me to not have it with me, and then pull some crap like, "If you don't have the item with you I can't change the price?" I just said, "Okay." and left. When I came back she just had to get another jab in. She said in the most abrasive tone possible, "Just so you know, in the future we won't be honoring a sale like this again for you especially if it's expired. You need to check to see if it's expired from now on." Wowza. That's all I can say. Just wow. She practically forced the cash and change into my hands, I signed the receipt, and I left. It's not the customer's fault that the promo signs were left on the sales floor. The signage was left up for a whole entire business day. Thanks to Grace, I now know that I should always be wary of whether the promotions on Ulta's sales floor are accurate and up to date. Cause that's totally the customer's job: make sure the store's promo signs are up to date. Grace is the complete antithesis of everything I expect walking into an environment that's supposed to be customer service oriented. She snaps at her staff, at customers, she cultivates an unwelcoming atmosphere, and she guarantees that the customers she interacts with associate Ulta with her crappy behavior. Just scroll down and read the reviews about Grace or "the blonde manager." She has consistently been driving customers away since at least July of 2016. I called Ulta Customer Service and spoke to a lady who directed me to submit a complaint to Ulta through their website, which I did: in detail. I'm hoping that Ulta creates some positive and productive resolve of this ongoing issue. When a customer's most notable experience is something like this, that's pretty sad. Moreover, it's pretty horrendous when a manager is perpetrating this type of behavior. If this is all Ulta has to offer, then I can find all of that elsewhere. After this evening, I won't be coming back. P.S. I really hope that Grace apologizes for her snappy, demeaning, and downright awful behavior to the lady I spoke to on the phone, who I assume to be the same lady standing next to Grace at the cash wrap during this whole thing. Kudos to the lady that I talked to on the phone. Kudos for trying to do the right thing only to get crap from Grace in front of customers.
