TBH I really didn't want to have to put my review here...but I left two messages yesterday asking for a call or text with answers and no one responded so here we go... I was really excited to learn that Ulta offered their own beauty services. I made an appointment for a "Everyday Makeup Application" session -- 45 min for $50. I had been to this location several times in the past but had no idea they had a full salon downstairs! How cool! I'm not going to name the stylist because they were very nice, but we started late which I didn't mind. They were energetic and fun and we got along great and I was sharing why I needed the appointment because the makeup I was using seemed to disappear on my face after a few hours so I needed help with everyday makeup and then the ability to punch it up if needed. We were talking about all sorts of different products so I mentioned how contour in my pics came out looking really bad so they applied some without really showing me but I did take notes on my phone on the order to do all of the makeup stages and which brushes. What I didn't write down was the name and shade of each product which is a bummer because I def wanted to purchase some products after if it "survived" the day. The appointment was for 12PM but we started more like 12:15/12:20 (again I didn't mind that) but when the next appointment arrived it became a mad dash to the finish. When I got rung up, the total became $70 instead of $50. I explained I signed up for the everyday lesson for $50. They explained that once they did contour it became a "Formal application" at $70. I wish that had been explained to me because I really didn't need time focused on that and regret bringing it up in a lighthearted fashion. I wound up paying for it because the service had been rendered and I tipped because I liked the artist/stylist. I later called asking if I could please get the name/shades of the foundation, concealer and blush used and they said the stylist was with another client -- totally fine. Around 4ish I called back again because I was worried their shift would be over. The colleague said not to worry the stylist was aware I called and they would call me back during their lunch break. The call never happened so I don't know what was used and felt that although it was fun talking about makeup for 45 min, it was basically a pricy throw away session where I'm still left trying to figure out the best way to keep my own makeup on my face. I'm glad I tried it but I won't go through this process there again. read more

I've never been to this Ulta Beauty in Westwood Village on Kinross. They have a hair salon in back so you can get your hair colored or cut or styled! It's very reasonable. Best ULTA experience I've had by far. As soon as I entered the store one of my best friends called me and we were on the phone for an hour. The employees were so kind just letting me take laps on the phone, letting me do my thing. When I paid Merlynne was soooo kind and sweet. I loved chatting with them, they immediately made me feel comfortable and their style is killer WELL after I left I realized I must've left another shopping bag I had with me there! I felt so embarrassed and worried that I lost my other purchase. I went back to ULTA and as I was in line Merlynne saw me and shouted "SHE CAME BACK" and immediately handed me my missing bag! Literally turned my worry and embarrassment into relief and gratitude. The thoughtfulness is on another level. I don't live close to this ULTA but I'll be back for SURE. Wow! Where do I begin! I usually go to my regular hair dresser not at an Ulta but she couldn't take me in, I decided to try and fix my own hair and failed. Came to the Ulta in a panic and they took me in right away. They were super nice but didn't really get my hair to how I had wanted so the salon manager was super nice and said I could come back and get it fixed free. Unheard of! So pleasant, helpful and offering to fix it. I had had a bad day and she made it so much better. So I came back the next day and had a very sweet hair dresser Fatima. She even rearranged some things to get me in. Keep in mind she is a lower tier stylist and had only been there a few months so I was a tad nervous but her, the manager and another hair stylist talked through everything, all the different ways to fix it and they were so helpful and open to anything and gave advice. We finally landed on a plan that we all loved. The plan differed from the original and they still were so gracious and took the extra time with me. Fatima put so much care and effort into my hair, she genuinely wanted to do her best. I was there for quite a long haul but I'd rather it have been because someone took their time and did their best work so I didn't mind. She fixed it so much better than how it was and even though the root color stayed a little warmer than we had hoped, it still was such an upgrade and really was my hairs fault for not obeying with anything we tried haha and I could see the bit of disappointment in her eyes but I assured her I was still happy with it and she did such a great job and I was so grateful! I tipped her well since it took so much of her time and I had got a discount and I just couldn't believe in a world where everyone is cranky, and has an attitude and never wants to help fix something, that I felt so cared for by everyone! I am not someone who leaves good reviews often but it was necessary. I would highly recommend trying them out! I am an Instacart shopper, and I have been shopping at this location for about a year. About once a month I accept orders from Ulta, and there is always an employee who helps me find the items, and we usually locate them together. Just a short while ago, a woman who I believe is the manager -- an older, overweight lady -- told me that she could not help me. She said that I have to find all the items by myself. She said this in a very rude and arrogant manner. Because of this situation, the store may have lost a purchase worth around $1000. I had to cancel the order and inform the customer about what happened. From now on, Instacart shoppers in this area may avoid accepting orders from Ulta Beauty because of this kind of attitude. She clearly said that they will no longer help us. I also want to point out that it is extremely difficult for anyone to find all those items alone in that store. As a result, the store lost, Instacart lost, and I lost. The management needs to take action regarding this employee's attitude as soon as possible. read more

The lady who did my make up unfortunately as nice as she was didn't know the most basic rules about make up. As soon as I got home I had to wash my face and redo the make up myself . i only come here when i am in the area for my dr, but im done. i always leave upset. they always harass me to sign up for their card. a simple "no" does not suffice. they try to coerce you into giving your personal info, including giving my full name, address, number, and email out loud in the middle of the store. when i told the lady that made me uncomfortable, the lead snottily said i should for coupons they send in the mail. I DONT CARE! I dont want to get your stupid coupons, i feel afraid giving my address out loud in public where anyone can hear because of things from my past. i literally only signed up because they dont let you say no, which is coercion. i understand they are forced to do it, but nothing will make me avoid a business more than pushy tactics like this. ill stick to sephora and the drugstore. read more

First off, no one greeted us and then I asked two employees so assistant in getting color matched and they said okay but no one came to help us. I finally asked a 3rd employee Ana and she was nice & let us know she was the only person available which was understanding. She did give us a small sample mascara so nice. I am not a frequent yelp reviewer but I want to express my gratitude for the workers at the Westood Ulta location. So I'm a 21 year old who hates technology and would rather tell the worker how much their assistance meant to me. Even if it was just a simple, "Thank you so much for taking the time for me" and MEAN it. We're all busy and going through things right now, a little appreciation doesn't take much! Where's the humanity, especially for those who help us. I am a student at the university nearby, just accompanying my roommate to the store after class. She got out at 7 pm so we rushed to get there before closing (it was about a 20-25 minute fast-paced walk). Even though we technically got there when they were still open, Jameela was SO helpful! She helped my roommate/friend with color matching her shade (if any of y'all also get frustrated with finding your shade after the winter seasons, I feel and see you!) Jameela took the TIME out of her busy day and workload to test different shades and formulas out for my friend. She aslo gave GREAT advice the whole way through on skin care, textures, and owning our natural beauty! Makeup is beautiful and I love how it makes me feel, but I wasn't wearing much this day because it was hot and I was running around. I had a moment's breather to admire this interaction because it's a rarity. She didn't care if the store or herself profited from it, she cared more about boosting our confidence in our own unique skin. I wasn't there for me, yet I felt so seen. I am mexican/american with freckles and have always struggled with finding the right sunscreen. One that won't wash me out or feel so heavy. She has BEAUTIFUL freckles, so you know I trusted her advice. I asked, 'how much?" and she did a wonderful job at saying, "it's a great investment," but her humanity is so pure that she followed her statement with "But if you want a more affordable sunscreen, I love Bondi Sands". GIVE THIS GIRL A RAISE PLEASE! She informed us on other makeup products that can further our confidence. It felt like shopping with a friend. I never felt pressured, always encouraged and supported. Even when we asked questions she wasn't 100% sure on, she NEVER let us down and gave the best advice she had with recommendations on who to ask if we come back. I yelled in the almost empty store, "GIVE THIS GIRL A RAISE!" With no and immediately got on the phone to talk to any human who was willing to listen. It took patience of course (as we did come in-in the last hour) but the person who connected me with the store manager was also so giving and kind enough to do that for another human (I wish I got their name). I got transferred, thankfully, and the manager was infectious over the phone. I'm not sure if she was home, ready for bed or busy with her personal life or WHAT but she took that TIME to answer me. Again, I'm not tech savvy, though being Gen Z and a student. I am a human first. In a world where we all hurt the same, bleed the same, and go through our own personal set of challenges, it truly doesn't take much to care. The kindly beautiful manager's name is Edythe! She was similar to me - we both aren't experts on technology and miss the humanity in the world. I came back the next day with my laptop to see if someone could help me figure it out. The gorgeously kind Kori, was working the register and help desk. Y'all let me tell you that that line was building - seemed like I came during rush hour. Kori got to me when there was a breather - I never minded how long they took. I could tell Jameela has an impact on her co-workers as well because once I mentioned her name to Kori, the response was, "LOVE Jameela". Manager Edythe came out and we had a lovely introduction. We expressed how important and wonderful it is to just be human for a few minutes. Did I have some time? Yes. But it was time well spent. I hope all three of the individuals I met (Jameela, Kori, and Edythe) deserve a raise!! Anyways, please be nice to workers - they truly are there for you but respect must go both ways. We're all stressed out and hurting right now, so show up for people in ways you wish someone would for you. Or just be a decently nice human - being kind is FREE. This is another one star Ulta, and here's why. I've spent thousands at Ulta, and reached a point where "your points never expire" since I'm at this level of spending. I've heard that multiple times from multiple people. So I go to buy a large gift excited to use all my accrued points..no they do expire, and they expired a week ago. However the manager who had run me up kept pushing that I buy something for "double points" in which I decided not because I simply didn't want to spend money and tbh I don't shop at Ulta enough to care for double points. I didn't need anything so I didn't want to buy anything when I went in. After saying no and that I didn't have a lot hence not wanting to spend and rather save, she KEPT pushing to buy. I was getting irritated. Because she then used Mother's Day as an excuse to buy something for my mother. My birthday and Mother's Day basically align so same thing I didn't want to spend money (I'm only a student I can't be splurging like that) and also she is not aware of how my relationship with my mother could be or if I even have a mom. Because she started shouting out loud that I "should be getting something nice for my mom" after I briefly explained my mother isn't physically here and I'm not seeing her. She kept trying to guilt trip me and make me feel like a bad person for not buying my mom anything and as I was looking at the freebie options she kept talking bad about me and my choice to not buy anything especially for my mom. It is not her business and at that point she was getting into my personal business and pushing too much. Didn't think I would find such an incredible gem of a hairstylist at Ulta for hair coloring and cuts, but definitely check them out if you're looking for hair services at very competitive prices! Jade was my stylist, and she did such an amazing job on bleaching my hair to an ash blonde balayage. I loved how she took such meticulous care of my hair, utilizing only the best products (Fanola bleach) and toning/fixing my dark brown virgin hair to my inspiration. Overall, it took over 6 hours to color and cut my hair, which remained healthy and without any breakage, while lifting to a beautiful, blended balayage. This was my first time bleaching and Jade really took the time to reassure me of any concerns and give me precise instructions on hair aftercare to prevent my hair from going brassy. Highly recommend her services and will definitely be going back as long as I'm living in West LA! read more

I drove from Hollywood to this location because the WEHO one is closed on Fridays. Parking is available in a small lot which I loved. This location is clean and spacious. I walked in to no greeting or recognition. I walked around the front reading the signs and figuring out the sale info for about five minutes. I was right next to a sales associate during most of that time who just ignored me. Another sales associate came from the back to ask if I needed assistance. I really did because I was on a tight budget. I was robbed on Wednesday so I only had a gift card and a little cash to spend until my new cards are mailed. She directed me to the area that was more budget friendly. Minutes later another customer enters and WOW the same sales associate that ignored me gave a warm welcome, grabbed a bag for them and explained the sale. This continued for 3 more entrances. I was curious if she would ever speak to me so I went near the last group that entered and listened to her speech. They walked away and I stayed to make eye contact with this older lady. She goes, "You still good? Buy 2 get 1!" And walks off before I even replied. I would like to see this location be friendly and welcoming to everyone. read more

I'm posting just to let y'all know 2 things 1) Billie's perfume is at this store, and they're giving you a free bag if you buy the largest size ($68). Last I checked they only had 4 available. Hopefully they continue to restock. 2) Fenty Beauty is here!!!!! The whole front of the store is Fenty and Rihanna hosted her Fenty Beauty event here at this location (I spotted her)!! Overall, I always feel a little odd going into this store because security is HIGH and they are always watching you. I also feel like the staff is always approaching asking if you need anything, and watching you like a hawk. I hardly ever buy anything because of the price, but I have bought the occasional bath bomb and chapstick to add to a small gift. Weird workers - had attitude when asking a question. Told manager about it, didn't really care, no sympathy or any action taken. Sad.

I went here because they had a cologne I wanted to buy. The inside was very organized and they had a wide selection. And customer service was pretty helpful for the most part. My only gripe was the security officer in the store. From the second I walked in, it seemed like he was really focused on me. He approached and askes if I needed help and led me to the cologne section which was fine but afterwards it was like he was hovering over me the entire time I was in there. Any time I looked around he'd be somewhere watching, and it made me really uncomfortable. Even when I left the store he walked right next to the entrance and was still watching me. Never going back to this location again. I don't know if this is true for Ulta as a store in terms of profiling (as it was my first time) but I certainly hope that this isn't the norm. read more

4:15 pm, I just left the store empty handed. Looking for a bunch of stuff and couldn't find one person to help me! The only ONE worker in the store was behind the register serving 8-10 people patiently waiting in line!!! This store, if you haven't been to, is over 3,000 sq ft I believe. How can they have only one person serving twenty some customers wandering around aimlessly trying to locate themselves against their shopping list? I managed to find one of the items (concealer) I was looking for with the help of another CUSTOMER! and yet they had sold out of the color I was looking for! Probably not. With all the one way roads it was hard to figure out how to get to the parking lot. It was full at 10:17 saved two coned spots I was told was for staff. Just get a lot full sign so I don't waste my time. Went in and there were maybe three staff members and two couples. Don't think everyone in the lot was for ultra. I asked an employee where an item was and she didn't assist in finding it. Just kind of assumed the item was in an aisle where it wasn't.
