She asked the right questions and with confidence brought me products that amazingly were just what I was looking for. Perfect tinted moisturizer ( it Do it All sheer tint face balm) Lancôme juicy blush and Clinique shadow play. She told me that she is a cosmetologist which explained her expertise. I recently went in for a blow out. This was a spur of the moment walk in service. I wasn't expecting to get in, but Kirby had time for me. I'm so glad she was there on this Thursday afternoon. She started with a detailed consultation about my hair - the present and past and where I wanted to go in the future. I really connected with Kirby. She is the first salon professional to tell me what I've already been saying about my hair. It felt so great to be validated. She agreed with my former style but added some new information and I'm ready to try coloring again. After a clarifying shampoo that I didn't know I needed and some great product information she gave a great blowout. I really want that Dyson hairdryer! I'm rebooked for my next color in July. I'm incredibly impressed with Jen in the salon. Yes, I work at Ulta. But I'm shocked at how she took my idea and ran with it too give me exactly what I wanted and then some. She gave me Instagram and Pinterest hair! My hair now has dimension, color, and movement. I'm full of confidence and happy every time I look in the mirror. Jen is a master stylist so her prices are a bit more but worth every single penny. The salon at Ulta is almost at a full staff. They have an elite stylist who isa Redken color professional, two master stylists, and two salon professionals ready to help you shine brighter. Had a 60 minute custom facial. Was called the morning of to reschedule the appointment for a later appointment that day, okay but a little bit of an inconvenience. I'm fairly new to skincare and as soon as I stepped into the treatment room I was asked what I wanted, as if I had a whole list in my head of what they offer. The whole time I was kind of anxious about what was getting applied on my face. I did get some of the product in my eye and it burned throughout the whole 60 minutes. My goal was to spoil myself with some skincare but overall left with an irritated eye and I am down the hole 65 dollars. read more

The service was very poor here as I'm here visiting from Northern NV. I found a half full roll on bottle of Dolce & Gabbana in a box for sale, however, the labeled tester bottle was full. This is understandable things might not be perfect but when brought to their attention, they appeared annoyed by my presence. My sister also needed help on the floor but they took their time. The vibe seems to be off here in Indiana, home of the KKK. As much money as my sister spends on weave, makeup, and beauty supplies a year, one should have RUSHED to at least speak to her and her daughter. My sister being a store manager herself, you all were critiqued and it was not good to say the very least. Please get it together Michigan City store! The one star is for the one lady that asked me if I was doing ok although I can't help but think she was just following me around. I could be wrong. My advice for others is to save money on these types of establishments and be a natural beauty for the most part. If you must, buy online because it's cheaper and there are good deals. read more

I sent my teen daughter to Ulta to get a hair cut. A $37 hair cut. She left with a $122 receipt for all kinds of things they up sold her on. While I understand that it's their job to offer and up-sell, I don't appreciate that I'm stuck with a bill a bill more than triple what I could and wanted to afford. I called a day later and someone said they could return my call that week and we're a week later and no one has contacted me. Aside from the cost, the cut was barely a trim, no layers added as requested and the "conditioning treatment" isn't even noticeable. I will not return to Ulta Salon for anything and I will certainly deter anyone I know from wasting their money there. read more

My daughter has been asking me for years to get her hair ombred. I have not let her mess around with her hair as it was beautiful, thick, shiny, long hair and I didn't want her to damage it. For her 15th birthday her father and I decided that we would find a qualified stylist at a place with good reputation, even if it was much more expensive, and let her get it done. She chose a very pretty style. I came in to the salon twice before her appointment to show the stylist what she wanted and have a consultation. The Stylist said it would be no problem and it would look really nice on her. The whole thing turned into a disaster instead. I literally watched, trying not to cry, as the stylist attempted to comb through my daughter's hair. This was just after the bleaching process, and my daughter's hair was melted, knotting, falling out and breaking off. The stylist again attempted to fix it and now my daughters' hair was a tone of green melted and broken. The stylist than attempted to cover the green and now my daughter has bright purple hair. No ombre at all. And not the color intended in any way. The underside of her hair is about 8 inches shorter than the rest because it melted off, unevenly at that. It has a horrible coarse texture and continues to break of daily despite my desperate efforts to save it. The stylist recommended that she use Matrix bio advanced repair products to try to save her hair. I had to purchase these products at the cost of $41.00. She did offer to have her come once a week for deep conditioning treatments that she will do for free, to attempt to save the damaged hair. I was not charged for the horrible job she did. However, the more I think about it the more I realize that much more should have been done. My daughter's hair, that took many years to grow, is ruined. It will be many years before the damage done to her hair has grown out. She is walking around with bright purple hair and is extremely embarrassed. To a 15 year old girl, on her birthday, this whole situation is very traumatizing. The embarrassment in front of her peers alone, in her freshman year, is a terrible thing she will now have to endure. I have incoulded pictures and I will in the emails I send to every investor and upper management I can. I definitely feel I should be reimbursed for the products I had to buy to try to fix the damage Ulta caused. I also want my daughter to be compensated with a sizable gift card. She will not use the salon again but if you show, through this, that you have good customer service and care about your customers than we will continue to shop there. I have spent more money than I can add up in your stores. I even had my hair and makeup done for my wedding at your store in countryside, Illinois. Please show us that she matters to you by at least doing those 2 things. read more

I was so excited to have an Ulta open in Michigan City. I live in Chicago and in Michigan City. I love my Ulta location in Chicago and was looking forward to the MC location. I made an appointment for a manicure right away. I arrived and the store looks great and as always a great selection of products beautifully merchandised. I checked in for my manicure and was told it would be a couple of minutes while the tech finished doing the hair of another client. I walked around and then ready a magazine. It now was 30 minutes. I stood up and looked over and was told it would be another couple of minutes. I asked if she wanted me to come back later and was told it would be a couple of minutes. After another 15 minutes I walked out. I get it the store is new, but clearly this was just bad service. Too bad, I had high hopes. I guess it's back to the salon at Blue Chip for me when I get a manicure in Mich city. read more
