Ulta beauty associates are consistent with their customer service. Today I did both shopping for a few items in store and also an online shopping for pick up. Walked into Ulta, kinda lost because the brand I was looking for had changed their packaging. I looked around and noticed a few employees walking around, as I attempted to approach one she walked the other direction. I ended up asking the cashier and she says "If it's not by the entrance it's sold out" okkk... As I walk up to the register counter to pay, same girl greeted me and as I was setting my things on the counter she walks away to assist a person picking up an online order. After several months of going through reviews, comments videos, pictures etc. on TikTok I made the grave mistake of making an appointment at Ula Olivo At Mission Hills located at 10310 Sepulveda Blvd Mission Hills, CA. I received terrible services by the stylist Octai. The entire time she was doing my hair she's talked so bad about her previous customers that day. If needed I will get very specific. She was " multitasking" and forgot about me under the dryer for twenty minutes. She carried on about how she wasn't feeling well due to some very personal reason. It was a complete over share and it made me very uncomfortable. When I walked in my hair was damaged but just passed my bra strap. We agreed to cut it below my shoulder blades and she cut way above my shoulders. No layers just a rough blunt cut straight across. I was so uncomfortable with the conversation that she was having that I was I sweating and my hair was sweating out in the chair. She seem too have became agitated and started flat ironing even closer to my scalp. She mentioned over and over again how she was ready to go home. The next day I had Soo many sores in my head from being burned. The day that I left and for two weeks straight I asked for my before and after pictures and she refused. I say all this to warn any other women that may be new to the valley area and looking for a new stylist ..do yourself a favor and skip this woman. I believed the hype on TT and that was my epic fail. I think other women aren't coming forward with their experience with her because it's hard enough to find a stylist in our demographic out here yet alone for them to be hired in these type of environments. There's a great manager over at the Ulta on Sepulveda and Devonshire in Mission Hills. She's always really open and really funny Asian lady very cool and most of her employees are awesome. They know a lot of stuff they refer you to different make ups and lipsticks and other things that you would never even know about. The store is a little dirty. some of the samples are a little dirty, but it's worth going over there to find out what product is what. read more

The managers got some issues when you ask questions about BOPIS and then their orders they send out aren't double checked enough. Dirty and used products that are broken are given when you order online for pickup. I went back the same day for an exchange on my order and was out of stock. So the items online are not the same availability in store. For a Company who values good interactions with customers the management might need some more customer vs management interactions on a positive level. read more

My wife wanted to stop by this Ulta Beauty store while we were in the plaza eating at one of the restaurant. She wanted to get her shampoo that she knows they carry here so we stopped by. I parked in the back of the plaza but there are parking in the front of the store too. When we walked inside, a worker greeted us and directed us to where the shampoo were. We found the shampoo that she wanted but they didn't have it in the size she was looking for. I found it at another store so I told her I'll pick it up from there. My wife then browse around the store and another worker helped her on what shampoo to use to help the health of the hair. She liked her recommendations so decided to purchase it. read more

My recent experience at this Ulta Beauty location was absolutely pleasant and I can say nothing but positive things about the overall customer service and my experience. I shop for my beauty supplies and products at Ulta. This time i decided to try the beauty salon. After making my online appointment, I arrived to the location and was greeted by the hairdresser named Tina ( whom I randomly picked from the list of professional s offered during online scheduling) I must say that Tina was truly a professional from start to end. Her knowledge in hair care products amazed me; as she was cutting, colouring and styling my hair, she was educating me on hair care and products I would benefit, suggesting the do's and dont's. Her overall demeanour, upbeat personality and service was over the top. The cleanliness of her station and her carefulness using clean towels, hair brushes and gloves just made me very comfortable and feel at ease. I highly recommend Tina at this location for your haircuts and hair care, or any other services in the hair salon department. I will definitely go back to her for my next hair care appointment and suggest you make yours too. read more

Came to make a return asked to collect birthday gift and was told we needed a specific birthday code . Mind u different location was able to bring it up with member ship # / barcode . They said they would have to give her items from last month and not the birthday bundle . Went into this Ulta store in mission hills.. Was helped by the manager name "Angela": I had purchased my regular two jumbo Biolage shampoo and conditioner on June 28, like i have for the past 3 years through Ulta. On June 29, 2025 I received their advertisement emails in how all jumbo shampoos and conditioner were on sale for almost 40% off. I then reach out to speak to an agent online in regards to canceling my June 28 , 2025 order since they are now on sale . The agent stated since it was past lan hour - I couldn't modify the order than I can always return the shampoo and conditioner from my June 28,2025 order. Now I then asked the agent if I also had to return my free gift with it . Agent stated that no it wasn't necessary - I'm guessing since they saw I made the same purchase following day- and all I wanted was to take advantage of their sale. When I walked in to the store, I was helping Angela the store manager. As she scanned the shampoo and conditioner, and I entered my phone number to pull up my account. She then asked if I had the free gift - I said that no that I was told it wasn't necessary to bring it back. She then slid the shampoo and conditioner back towards me and said she couldn't accept my return if I didn't bring the free gift . I repeated what was told to me by an agent online and she then emphasize and pointed towards her return policy sign against the wall that there's been changes on the return policy on November 2024 that she can no longer take returns without the gifts. Mind you she's being absolutely loud everyone in line is looking at me and I felt so embarrassed and humiliated. When I realize she wasn't taking my return, I then had to call my daughter on the phone to have her check the box to see if that free gift for was in the box. My daughter then had to come to Ulta store to bring the gift back so I can then do my return. Angela then was able to do my return and as I gave them free gift, which was a (pink a little bag ) even her team member tells her "oh ny god that's such a cute bag) literally rubbing it in making matters worse and with the embarrassment continuing. I rushed out the store, especially since I now had taken a long time and my new born was in the car as well. When I got out the store, I then called Ulta main phone number. Spoke to a representative. Explain my experience and right away. They told me that this store manager was in the wrong that she should've not refused my return because of the free gift. that is the return policy so they didn't understand why she did what she did and they were going to escalate the store number and the managers name. I called to speak to the manager Angela and tell her what they told me . She then stated that they don't understand why they told me that- that she herself will talk to customer service . I then stated in how she was in the wrong for wrong information she gave me and also the embarrassment she made me go through infront of everyone. I've been told her that I'd like to go back to the store to get my free gift bag and she said that sure that it was OK for me to stop back into the store and get my gift back . I was infuriated because of the experience I had at the store and now I have to drive back to the store with my newborn. When I go into the store, I have my newborn in his car seat- (which I'm holding in one arm) . The manager literally is waiting for me by the entrance with the bag and that got me more upset because she's handing me the bag but yet trying to prevent me from walking into the store or better yet vent my frustration to her . She also didn't want customers to hear how she was in the wrong in what she did to me, but yet her customers earlier that day had to hear the humiliation she put me under like if I'm some sort of thief. Was I upset and venting to her ? Absolutely!! She then has the audacity to say since I'm getting aggressive she can't help me anymore ? Starts walking away. First of all how am I being aggressive with a newborn in one arm- all I was doing was venting my frustration which I'm completely entitled to considering what she put me through and her employees instigating and laughing about the matter in how "cute the bag is , that they made me return." I'm extremely disappointed and can't believe how Ulta has managers leading their stores in this manner. If this is what this "manager" is doing I can't even imagine what else is there behind closed doors. They then said this was going to get escalated - I'm yet to hear from them. I really want to like this Ulta because it is conveniently located to me, but I have so many issues with this location. First off I want to say the workers here are lovely. They are always very helpful and friendly. When you walk in they immediately greet you and ask if there is anything you need. My main issue with this location is the lack of products they have. Most of the shelves are empty and a lot of items need to be restocked. 8 out of 10 times you go there and where a product is suppose to be they are out of it. One or two items is ok but when you walk around the store and notice a lot of the shelves are bare it's a little concerning. Also the lines to check out can be extremely long and there is only 1 or 2 associates at the register for about 20 people in line. I want to like this location because it's very conveniently located with tons of parking, but the issues of lack of inventory and long lines makes this store very unappealing to shop in. read more

If I could leave a negative review I absolutely would. I went in yesterday to cut my hair and practically left almost in tears. Ive been a customer of ulta for so long and have never had this happen but what I experienced yesterday is something worth saving others from. To start my stylist had zero idea how to even blow dry my hair. I should have stopped her there. She then went on to completely butcher my hair and had no idea how to use scissors or what type of scissors to even use. Let's not even mention this was the most painful hair appointment I've ever had. She was like unaware of how hard she was pulling my hair or hitting my head with the brush. She then had the nerve to call a manager and blame it on me. I could tell the other stylists and manager could clearly see the train wreck happening and the fact that nothing was done was absolutely gross.
