This Ulta is always clean and well stocked, as well as plenty of customer service personnel to meet your needs. They are there to help you if you need it, but they don't follow around and bother you if you don't. That is very important to me. Very disappointed in our experience at this Ulta location. My wife came in to get some help with skin care products and the help was terrible. Walking in no one greeted us and there were 6 employees behind the cash wrap hanging out. On the sales floor four different employees walked by my wife who was seeking help. I finally asked a cashier for an assistance and she gave no insights into my wife's questions on skin care. Upon leaving the store the associates were on cell phones and cracking each others backs. Your cashiers are arrogant when asking for an email/phone # at checkout. They even go to the extreme of lying to your face, stating that you can't make a return without providing an email. Bull!!! I've never had an issue with the cleanliness or staff friendliness here. The store is fairly well organized and always full with customers. I know they are short staffed but every time I go there is always a long line which is annoying. I account for it when I know I have to go in too. Not a great experience at Ulta today. I found my biolage products buy one get one half off. I should have read the fine print because it didn't apply to the liters. I got to the register and the sales person (manager!) was not friendly at all. Asked me to wait while she was talking on her headphones and she then rang me up and told me "oh these don't apply." I said I will go back and get the smaller ones. She wasn't helpful or nice at all. Very dismissive. I decided to leave and find the products elsewhere. This store is conveniently located in Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. I've only been in a few times. It's organized. They have a MAC station by the entrance--I don't think the West Ashley or Summerville stores have it. If they do, they aren't as noticeable. They offer foundation matching and samples. They also provide makeup lessons for a fee. I didn't notice any associates on the floor. I was looking for a particular product, and it took me a while to find it since I'm unfamiliar with the layout. This Ulta store is in the perfect location for Mount Pleasant. They have a wonderful selection of products although what I was looking for was out of stock. Currently there are no samples and testing of products, but the employees seem to be very helpful. What is wrong with all the Ultas in this area? I moved here from Los Angeles, CA where Ulta stores reign supreme for service, selection, and price. I just do not, for the life of me, understand what is wrong with this Ulta and the one in Summerville too. I gave up on the Summerville location a while back, but because I have been a loyal customer of the chain for years, I decided to give this Mt. Pleasant location a try. HOLY HEAVENS!!!! It is as bad or worse than Summerville! I was looking for the Peter Thomas Roth line of products and could not find them. I had to look for someone to help me, and then I had to wait for her to help several people before she graced me with her God-Given presence. I ask where the PTR line was, and she very flippantly says "all the way in the back dearie" and walks off......really?!?! How ABOUT " All the way in the back, ma'am, and let me walk you over there and see if I can't help you with your very expensive selection today"? So I find the PTR products, but they do not have the eye cream I wanted on the shelf. I ask for help, and am told to wait a moment please, while several employees walk past and around me conversating with each other about their weekend plans. A sales rep FINALLY comes over to ask what I need, I tell her, and she says "Nope we haven't had that eye cream in for a while"......long-blank-silent-stare on her face. Then she just shrugs and walks off. OMG, seriously?? How ABOUT "oh I'm sorry ma'am, we don't have that in today, but can I interest you in purchasing a similar product in a similar price range from another line we carry in-store"? Because the eye cream I wanted costs $65, and she just blew a sale! Do you want to make money? I am standing in your store willing to part ways with a lot of it! Seriously, help me spend it. Ulta always seems to be out of stock, or slow to restock many of the items that I am looking for, so ... for this review will focus on the Salon ... the purpose of my visit, today. I have thick, coarse, dry hair and seems that am the envy of every woman I have ever met who struggles with thin, limp, oily hair that needs to be washed every day or so. While my mop is full, I also started turning gray on my late twenties .... So, for a very, very long time my maintaining my mane has been high maintenance and frankly, expensive. While many stylists in NY, Baltimore and on King Street that have given me a decent haircut, my bar is set high ... the salon also has to use a color line that 'takes' to my hair and the stylist must know how to correctly apply and time the processing. Top line ... each root touch up needs to cover so the regrowth is not evident. As my hair grows like a weed, let's say, I've been around and fortunately hit the jackpot with Johanna, a master hair stylist at Ulta. While the chain sells most hair products/lines, the Salon uses Redken ... the only hair line that is a total fit with my hair type. I see Johanna every three -four weeks and I have never been disappointed. As for streaks, all I can say is wow! Johanna works part time so her after work appointment slots fill quickly. I walked into Ulta helping to find my mom something that she needed the product she been using. She never bought in person and it was a drunk elephant product. We walked over to the drunk elephant stand, and I showed her where it was. Unfortunately, it was too expensive, but then a lady walked up to us and said, any help and we responded no because we aren't quite sure what we were gonna do and then she started talking about how drunk elephant was no good for young skin with all of the chemicals in it . I wanted to say this wasn't for me, but it was for my mom and said she continue talking and then went back to another employee and started talking to her again. I want to congratulate this store and their staff for standing up for their shoppers. While standing in an aisle viewing makeup shades on the shelf with my sister, a horribly rude shopper walked up to the same makeup aisle a minute later and yelled at us to move and separate so she could shop that section. We were clearly there first and already working with a staff member to find a specific color. My sister and I (in our 50's, masked, and very Covid safe) were standing together while this young entitled shopper pushed her way into the aisle forcing us to move. The staff apologized to us immediately following the incident and even checked on us later to let us know the rude pushy shopper had been escorted out of the store. The staff handled the situation very professionally and was exceptionally helpful and caring. read more

Ally, the manager of Ulta Beauty in Mount Pleasant, SC, should not have any role that involves interacting with customers. My simple question was met with disrespect, hostility, and utter rudeness, as though she was taking out on me all her frustrations with actual demanding customers. I quietly asked her to stop being disrespectful, but instead of apologizing or dialing down her hostile tone, she doubled-down and persisted with her disrespect and sour attitude. Before I left the store, I wanted to give her an opportunity to make this right with a simple apology. I asked to speak with her privately (away from her employees and other customers so as not to embarrass her any more than she had already done to herself). Ally made me wait while she pretended to organize a drawer, then refused to apologize. I asked her for help and not only did she give me advice but she educated me on the key to successful Dewey, hydrated skin. I can tell she is a professional and has professional experience. Ulta has become my go-to for most of my cosmetic needs. After a life-time of using cheap products from the department store and drugstore I recently developed some allergic reactions to many of these products. While not all the products at Ulta are organic and non-allergenic, they carry many that are and all of the products I've tried here seem a higher quality. I have to specifically seek out products that are not oily because my skin is very oily. It's always important to understand the return policy when experimenting with new product lines. I've never had a problem with returns and you will not get the "third degree". If you have a problem with a product, just bring back the unused portion for a full refund with no hassle. Sometimes my favorite new items are not on the shelf, but a friendly staff member is always willing to check the back stock. If it is not in the store, they are happy to send it directly to your home from the warehouse with no shipping charge. I have recently discovered Juice Beauty (The Organic Solution) perfecting concealer and Organic Treatment Oil as well as their Antioxidant Serum. The oil blends into my skin and does not make my oily skin oilier. Sounds crazy and I was skeptical, but no more dry spots or itching for me. I've also discovered Estee Lauder Double Wear, Stay in Place matte powder foundation compact and I love it. Another new find for me is the single color pots of eye shadow by Urban Decay. Their line is not entirely organic, but it's close and I have had no itching or watery eyes with these eye colors. I've also had great luck with the Benefit line of mascara. Not department store pricing, but holds up all day without itching or flaking. The $3.50 coupon is always on the website and can be used on many of their products. Some of the more exclusive brands are excluded from the coupon just like every place else. There are always some great deals in the clearance section so don't forget to seek them out. The store floor plan is often moved around so you might have to search a little for your favorites but the staff is always friendly and willing to help. I miss the department store prices, but I'm so happy to have found some products that are healthier for my skin and avoid the trappings of cheap cosmetics. Honestly, online would be easier but it often seems to be out of stock on amazon and changes price rather frequently. Some reviewers have also questioned the legitimacy of the product from certain sellers so I've found that heading to Ulta is mostly reliable. Most of the time they have what I'm looking for but sometimes they don't. They always seem to be rearranging the store and I need to re-find my product every time. Only once or twice has anyone actually known where it is. For some reason it's part of the mens line for Redken but is not with the other mens hair products... weird. This ulta is okay when you are looking for both your high and low end beauty products, especially since it's the only one in the area. It seems like it's always low stock on many products and is not the most organized ulta I have been to. Being from Atlanta, the ulta there is much bugger, organized, and well stocked. I will still continue to go here as it's my only ulta option around here, but I think they could definitely improve. The employees, however, have always been very nice and helpful towards me. Some of the worst customer experience. I repeatedly come back here after I am hounded over and over again to sign up for a credit card..... but today I needed help finding a lipstick and no one would come around. EVERY employee was sitting on their phones or laughing talking to other coworkers. I then asked for help finding a shade and product that I was unfamiliar with and then told me "check the front of the store" I looked and couldn't find anything or know how to select the product. This is pretty much your typical Ulta. I usually come here to get my brows done at the Brow Bar since I'm familiar with their staff. Honestly though, their stock is always low on the "non-prestige" products (I'm looking at you, Essie polish). Definitely check out the Summerville location if you are hunting nail polish. The staff, however, is always very friendly and this location has a better clearance area (I think that just differs for every store, though). It's always very clean, and I always get tons of coupons in the mail and in my email! Definitely visit the Brow Bar though. Those gals are amazing! read more

Regrettably 2 hours before my appt I received a call canceling because the stylist didn't show up for work. The frustrating part is this is the 2nd time this has happened. I went to Ulta in the Mt. P Towncenter and got my hair done by Johanna. I had it foiled with 2 colors and trimmed. She did an amazing job!!! I haven't tried anyone else but Johanna sure has an amazing talent. It was a bit pricey though but I'm use to my hair dresser friends doing mine. I have given this location 2 tries to change my mind and they have disappointed me both times. The first time, I was met with an INCREDIBLY bad attitude by the cashier when I pointed out that the item should have rung up with the advertised sale price. You would have thought I was taking money from her pocket the way she met my question with an attitude! My only regret is not getting her name so that I could complain to her manager (although I'm fairly certain she was a manager). 2nd experience today: Ulta products are buy 1 get one 50%. I had the eyebrow pencil I needed but they were out of the color powder I wanted (she said they stocked them this morning, which is hard to believe considering only the sample of this color was left, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt). She said they can order the powder online and ship it to my house. Great. However I would not be able to get the buy 1 get 1 sale because the eyebrow pencil would be bought in store and the powder would be shipped. SO, I left buying neither and am on my way to Sephora on King Street. I'm sure they will be happier to help. read more

I got a call from the district or area manager profusely apologizing. I was even given a small gift card. I used the card and to save my self from another bad experience, I did the order online. One of the products I ordered would not work and I Really needed it so I unfortunately had to go to the store to exchange, (I really thought it has to be a one-time experience) I mean surely, no store could be that bad all the time? Ive been to Ulta on two occasions now. The first, I went in on a Sunday because it appeared to be the only place open to get a gel manicure on a Sunday! Jennifer did a nice job with my nails, but I was sad to see that a cuticle trim was not part of the manicure - as its my favorite part of the service typically. Jennifer was very nice and when I spoke to her about the cost of hair services at an alternate place, she was shocked at how much I paid the last time I got my hair done, and mentioned it was less at Ulta (follow up on this point to come). After my nails, I sat for my first experience at the Brow Bar! This was great. I forgot the name of the brow expert but she was very friendly, explained everything, checked in prior to waxing to make sure the shape was what I would like... and the outcome was fabulous. However, a bit pricey for a brow wax. The second time I went in, I had scheduled a hair foil and cut that afternoon. So, a positive - they have availability for last minute schedulers like myself! I scheduled a partial highlight and a hair cut, which they quoted me $129 (which was pricey but I needed it done before the holiday!) To my surprise, I had Jennifer again! I didn't speak up (which I should have) but I was given a full foil (then charged for it) instead of a partial. The cut was pretty spot on to what I showed her in the picture... but my highlights are farther from the root than I like, which means I will need to get my hair highlighted again sooner than I would like. When I pull my hair up, it already looks like its been a couple weeks since my highlight. :( The MAJOR negative on this visit.... THE PRICE!! $149 for a cut and highlight. This was MORE than what I spent at an alternate salon, you know... the place I told Jennifer about and she was shocked at the price... I am from Massachusetts and it typically costs me $80 for the whole shebang.... $149 (plus tip) is WAY over my price point for a hair cut/color. So, all in all - the salon staff have been very friendly and for the most part, efficient and professional with their services. Staff was too busy visiting each other than assisting customers. When I nicely interrupted their personal conversation, the staff acted put out. Then the girl that helped me had no clue what she was doing. Then I stopped at the Eyebrow bar to see if they had time to do my eyebrows. The person there stated they were booked. I then asked when the next opening was. Without looking at any type of schedule, I was told there was no availability for days. Never asked if they could make an appointment for me. Made it very clear my business was not wanted. As I checked out, I had a coupon for $3.50 off. I was told it wasn't valid. It absolutely was a valid coupon and was in the correct time frame to use it. This company or at least this store has really gone downhill. Will look elsewhere to shop in the future. read more

This is the only Ulta I've ever been in, so I'm not sure if it's indicative of the chain in general, but every time I go in search of a specific item (which I'd purchased in a prior visit) they are out of stock. Although the service is friendly, it's not a cohesive group of employees. They are scattered about, not sure of what's up in other areas, not well versed in many of the products. Twelve questions at the register later, you're allowed to give them money and leave. I mean-- it's an ULTA. They've got a lot of stuff in here and usually everything I'm looking for is in stock (typically korean skincare, guess it isn't that popular). The clearance section is pretty sweet too. They've usually got some great skin masks that are marked WAY down. I've usually had great customer service here except for a few times when the cashiers were kind of rude to me, but I get it.
