I've been going to Mount Pleasant Dermatology in Long Point for several years, and they are consistently professional & knowledgeable! My usual physician is Dr. Wooten, who has always been thorough, kind, and attentive during my annual skin checks. Since she's currently on maternity leave, I recently saw Dr. Caroline Savoie, and I was just as impressed. Dr. Savoie was thorough, knowledgeable & very professional. She took the time to answer all my questions without rushing. She made me feel comfortable and confident in the care I received. The front desk staff and medical assistants are also friendly and efficient -- check-in is always quick, and the office runs smoothly and on time. Do not work here! I was hired and was let go within two weeks during training. I have never been fired in my life before. The place was understaffed and no one had the time, patience, or willingness to train. I was not given a place to work and not even given a chair. I had to stand awkwardly at a counter while everyone else was working sitting down. The entire experience was so awkward and horrible. The woman "training" me expected me to just follow her around like a puppy. She was also completely odd and unprofessional. Went for a basic skin check of a couple spots. The appointment was ok, but nothing spectacular about the interaction with dr I saw. The billing department is where I have the biggest issue and why I will not return to this office. Medical billing in general is already a complete fraud in my opinion and then when you pay your complete bill at your appointment and they mess things up on their side and when you call to try to understand what is going on and the billing manager named Tonya, blames YOU for their errors. No apologies, no sincerity. I absolutely will not recommend or return to this office. read more

In February I saw a new employee for Botox and during this visit we discussed my skin history and I was identified as a candidate for Virtue RF and Cool Peel combo procedure to help address acne scarring on my face. In late February I went into the Mt. P office for the procedure. During the procedure and in the immediate days following things went as expected-I had some swelling, redness, and flaking of my skin. However, after about a week of skin shedding I began to notice severe pigmentation and residual marks on my face left from the procedure. I had dark pinpoint marks across my forehead, temples, and across both cheeks where the laser and needles traveled across my face (pics provided with review). I immediately became distressed and sent an email to the office requesting help and I was instructed to come into the office for a follow up appointment in March. I won't go into all of the details of the appointment but I was instructed to combine spf, Silymarin, Blemish and Age Defense, retinol, and Hydroquinone into my routine and to "be patient" with the results. At this point I have paid $1200 for my face to look absolutely awful ($849 for the botched procedure, $150 for the products to fix my face, $90 for the Hydroquinone prescription, and $69 for the follow up appointment). The fact I had to pay for the recommended products and follow up appointment still blows my mind. During the follow up I was also low key gaslit by the employee that performed the procedure. She came back in to the procedure room alone and told me "remember, we discussed how this procedure can bring pigmentation forward" and "if this is how you respond to such an easy treatment I wouldn't recommend another one" (trust me, I didn't ask for another one). I was told that I could come in after one month of applying the recommended products for a follow up and potentially to do a Picosure laser but at this point I refuse to again pay for a follow up appointment and hundreds of dollars for another laser appointment, and again-to pay for a fix to a procedure performed by their employee that left permanent marks on my face is absurd. This is very disappointing as I've been a client for many years and I've actually recommended several of my friends to come here (three people I know have actually gone to have procedures themselves). While I do have an olive skintone that is more susceptible to hyperpigmentation, this isn't the first time I've done microneedling or lasers, but is the first time I've had such awful results. I would expect practitioners of this caliber to know how to treat their darker skinned patients. read more

Terrible to deal with. Had an outstanding issue that needed looking at on a referral from my primary. Got a call last week that she would check and call me back. I had to follow up and they proceeded to tell me April. I'm not leaving 1 Star for April, I'm leaving 1 star because they could have told last week but they were just never going to reply. Well... I would not recommend this place. I was quoted (as I am a cash paying patient) a set price to have up to 15 actinic keratosis lesions frozen off. They only removed 8, failed to get the ones that really bothered me and two were only partially removed. I was so rushed that I did not realize Dr. Smith-Phillips did not get all the ones targeted until later when home. I called her nurse, Sarah Louise, and asked about getting the remaining ones removed (up to the 15) and she was very rude, combative, refusing my request...said I would have to pay $150 AGAIN! Wow, shocking to be treated so rudely. What a scam they have going on there! read more

The Apple Maps GPS took me to the wrong place, and I had to call the office to find out where it actually was. I was close, but once I finally found it and signed in I was 5-10 minutes late. I would have been 5 minutes early if the GPS was accurate. I was told that this happens a lot. After filling out the paperwork and waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes they told me they were canceling my appointment since I was late. I argued that I was only late because the GPS took me to the wrong place, and the young lady replied that she had no control over the GPS. I informed her that in fact they DO have control over it because they just need to notify Apple of the error so that it can be corrected, and while I was trying to suggest that they do so in order to avoid this issue from continuing to happen over and over again, she interrupted to tell me that she is just a nurse tech in an office (as if I didn't know that). Rather than talking down to people open your ears and listen when you've wasted someone's entire morning and they're trying to tell you how to avoid pissing off the next person. She asked me if I wanted to reschedule my appointment. Ha! Absolutely not. This place sucks. Go somewhere else. read more

Visited Dr.Stafford a week and a half ago for overall skin exam. Was concerned of a couple spots on my back. Dr.Stafford was highly recommended by family members. He got me in and out in about 30 minutes even with Taking a biopsy of a spot on my back, he called a few days later to let me know spot needed to be removed. Went in to have spot removed and one hour later I was out! He reassured me that everything was going to be fine, as I'm a worrier, and that we caught spot in a timely manner. All of his staff were delightful. Failed to mention Dr.Stafford and his staff are extremely entertaining as well! So glad I found Dr.Stafford and his team! Dr.Stafford truly cares about his patients, as he has told me that I will be visiting every 6 months for regular skin examinations! read more

From the moment I walked in to Mt. Pleasant Derm I felt welcome and comfortable. I have seen Dr. Wooten and Dr. Steele, and both are extremely professional and courteous. Seeing a dermatologist can be intimidating, but the staff, nurses and doctors made my experience a relaxing, stress-free one. I have recommended them to family and many friends, and everyone who has visited has had a similar enjoyable experience. My 3 children and I have been patients of Dr. Yarbrough's for several years & I have found him to be extremely knowledgable, professional & personable. I have never waited in the waiting room for more than 5-10 minutes and have never felt rushed when talking with him or his staff. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My experience there was so bad I don't think anyone should ever have to go through that. I used to be a patient of Dr. Morrison, who was great. She helped me with some derm problems I had in the past and was very kind and took her time. She moved to Colorado, so I was referred to Dr. Wooten the next time I went in. Dr. Wooten was one of the worst doctors I have ever seen. She had a bad attitude from the beginning and came into the room with a sneer on her face, and shook my hand limply. Her nurse embarrassed me by exclaiming over my acne, but the doctor never even offered me any solutions for it. Dr. Wooten basically told me that there was nothing she could do to help me with a rash that I had been suffering with, and just prescribed a topical steroid cream. She didn't even try to figure out what caused it, she just criticized me for scratching it, and said that I should get treated for anxiety. So rude and unprofessional! Then she left in a hurry. The nurse gave me some samples and then the office charged me $75 for basically nothing. After my appointment, I wrote a complaint to the office manager. She confirmed that she received it and said she would get back to me. That was over a month ago, and still no reply. These people are complete jerks and I will never go back. Plan to spend several hours to get in and out with about 3 minutes with the actual doctor. Doctor (Smith-Philips) is unhelpful, will not answer calls and consistently late to appointments and treats me like I am stupid for not understanding what is going on with my own help. I am trying to get through a med cycle with them and calling the office weekly to try and figure out what hoop I have to jump through next. I am DONE after this. Never. Ever. Again. read more

I began to visit Dr Sam Stafford III, based on recommendations from other people. I have had nothing but EXCELLENT service and the staff is fantastic. Minor surgeries for skin cancers from years of sun exposure. NEVER any problems with appointments or wasted time. Will continue to use them until Dr. Sam retires!! read more

If you value your time and money, go somewhere else, because they do not. I went in on my lunch break for a follow-up. After sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes past my appointment time, I was finally called in, where I sat for another 15 minutes before Smith-Phillips appeared. I considered leaving at one point because I had already used up my entire lunch break. I expected it to take half an hour, tops, from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. I spoke with Smith for about four minutes and was told to schedule another follow-up. I was fine with that until I was ushered down the hall and told I owed $40. I was completely nonplussed, as I've never paid for a follow-up visit, and I have never spent less time in any appointment, follow-up or otherwise. This bill for a full doctor's visit (the $40 I was charged was just a co-pay, not the entire cost!) was completely asinine. Furthermore, expecting me to go in again and repeat the entire process and pay another $40 was insulting and mind-boggling that they would attempt such a racquet twice! The entire visit was a JOKE. I've had stitches out and casts removed in follow-up visits and not paid a cent, and that was a lot more time-consuming and laborious. And I have NEVER waited that long for a prescheduled appointment. I sent an e-mail stating how dissatisfied I was and--shocker--never heard back. Clearly the concept of customer service is way over their heads and not a priority. read more
