I had a very disappointing customer service experience at this Ulta location today. I came specifically for the Lancôme 50% off promotion and wanted to purchase a day cream, a night cream, and an eye cream. I needed some assistance understanding exactly which products and sizes were included in the promotion. I had been waiting all week for this specific promotion and knew exactly what I came to buy. I expected to spend about five minutes in the store -- pick up the three products I had already chosen, pay, and leave. Instead, I ended up spending about 20 minutes there, largely because I could not get clear and accurate information from the associates. Two associates were standing together talking to each other, and from the beginning I felt like I was bothering them by asking for help. English is not my first language, so I sometimes need a little extra clarification. Instead of feeling helped, I felt like my questions were an inconvenience. I specifically asked the associate whether the Lancôme eye cream was included in the 50% off promotion. She told me no. I asked her to please double-check because I believed it was included. She again assured me that it definitely was NOT part of the promotion. Later, when I went to the display myself and picked up the eye cream, she suddenly told me, "Oh, actually it is included in the promotion." So I was given incorrect information twice, even after specifically asking the associate to verify it. Had I simply trusted her answer, I would have left the store without purchasing a product that I specifically came for and that was, in fact, 50% off. What bothered me even more was the attitude. I finally had to say that if they were too busy and did not want to help me, they could simply tell me and I would find another associate. Only after I said this did their attitude change and I finally receive the assistance I had been asking for. I ultimately purchased all three Lancôme creams at 50% off, so I am very happy with my purchase. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed with the customer service. Customers should not have to raise their voice or insist repeatedly just to receive basic assistance and accurate information about a store promotion. And a customer who is not completely fluent in English should not be made to feel like a burden for asking questions. I expected much better customer service from Ulta. read more

They only had one left of what I was looking for and she was kind enough to put it on hold for me! This is the 2nd ulta I've visited this week that had no available staff to help me. I'm usually a Sephora girl so I'm used to having a well staffed store full of employees to help color match me or grab items for me considering a lot of stuff is locked up. The security guard sure was able to follow me around but there was no one on the floor to provide actually service and only one employee at the register. Dont go there for hair tinsel.. the lady just put huge chunks of tinsel in my hair and when I told her i wanted smaller sections she told me that that was impossible.... Also the beads completely show no matter what i do because she put them at the VERY top of my head. Also very unevenly cut, not ONE huge section matches the length of my hair. Danie is an absolutely incredible hairstylist!!! She was so kind to quickly fit me in as a walk-in and was so sweet and helpful! I had no clue what style I wanted, but I knew I needed my hair to be significantly shorter than it was. She suggested a style reference, Miss Honey from the film Matilda, and I'm obsessed with it. My hair is shorter than it's ever been and normally I'd be a mess/in tears but the style is SO perfect for my face. I'm so so grateful to her!! When they first opened this Ulta was very nice. There were helpful employees and nice security. Now, there's so many employees on the floor and only one out of four was trying to help customers. They gave me wrong information because I asked for a product and they told me it wasn't there but I found it myself later. Every time I come they give me wrong information and leave me hanging for people who are more demanding. If you're a demanding aggressive customer, you will love it here, but go somewhere else if not. I've had better luck with the one in Sherman Oaks, as an example. read more

This location is poorly managed. When i visited this location only one register was open and the line was so long it was flowing into the product isles. There were at least six employees on the floor following customers around. And another three employees were stocking shelves. I saw two customers leave their stuff behind and leave the line because it was so long. Lastly, every employee i encountered smelled like........smoke I highly recommend trying another location. Extremely Unprofessional Interview Experience... I applied for a Skincare Specialist position at this Ulta Beauty in the new North Hollywood location .. I arrived on time and waited over 30 minutes before being told to come back later. The manager who was supposed to interview me never did, and another employee (Angel) stepped in. After the interview, I followed up by phone and was told someone would call me back -- no one ever did. Over a week later, I happened to stop by and politely greeted the same employee, who was dismissive, and rude to say the very least. He said, " Yeah, it was a lot we hired four people." As someone with 20+ years of experience in luxury beauty (Lancôme, Clarins, Sephora, and Kiehl's), I found this treatment disrespectful and unprofessional. If this is how Ulta treats seasoned professionals during hiring, I can only imagine how they treat their employees. I'm sharing this so management will hopefully improve their hiring practices and basic courtesy toward applicants. Unfortunately I don't see that happening as this is literally what the cosmetic industry has turned into . It breaks my heart . read more

I absolutely love the salon services I receive from Dessilina. I've been working in the Los Angeles area for about 10 months and FINALLY found her! She's a master at her craft. I walked in and not even a minute after walking in to go look at the dry shampoos to buy this very rude and weird employee which im guessing could be the manager yells out so the whole store to hear to another employee "tell security to watch them" like genuinely who in their right minds does and says that when i havent even been inside for more than a minute. My wife and I came to this Ulta Beauty store after we finished eating across the street. She wanted to check out their makeup selection here so we took advantage of being in NoHo West plaza. They weren't as busy tonight and they had a lot of items stocked here. The store is nicely organized and ready for the holiday season. My wife saw some face stuff and hair stuff that she like. I've been coming to this store since high school. The workers at the time were super nice and welcoming. Not just today (July 30) but the past few times I've gone to get things for upcoming events, many of the employees have always eyed on me and not in the nicest way. I understand of stealing because I also work in retail, but I come with my sister and sometimes she goes her way and I go my way. My sister is light skin and I am brown. My sister wanted to look at the back, so I went to catch up to her. This employee (Asian with black and blonde hair) sped up her pace to catch up to me and asked "if I needed help" she asked me and not my sister, and kept looking at me when I said "no". I truly feel discriminated whenever I step in the store. No one should EVER feel like that, so do I. I hope employees here can learn to be more respectful towards people because again, no one should feel less than anyone else just because they look "different." Thank you! read more

I came in for an exchange , had bought too dark of color foundation and powder. Had no idea they were about to close in less than 10 min. Quite different from the Ulta I frequent at. But the one going through the aisle with the colored hair was so sweet in how she reminded everyone that they were about to close. Although I know she meant to tell everyone to hurry up their behinds, she was so nice in the way she said it... and she even smiled and genuinely offered any needed assistance . I wished I remembered her name. I even told her "uh oh I didn't know that this Sephora closes early! ". oops! But she didn't get mad, or get annoyed. She giggled and agreed yeah everyone thinks that. She even had a sense of humor 7 minutes to closing! I came to the counter , Maria was even sweeter in how she handled my exchange with care, she didn't rush through it she took the time to look through the items carefully she might have slipped in how she realized the powder was missing the small puff that came with it. (Ok My bad but come on don't tell me that's the first time something like that has ever happened?), But she was thorough and was hesitant so she asked her superior. Her superior. Wow. Okay. So this lady named Mayra with the title "operational manager," comes walking slowly up hands behind her back chest out, with not even a hint of any friendliness or warmth in her face- approaches me like a curtain was being laid out for her. It was like a scene from next Friday or Mad TV. Maria quickly informs her that I forgot the puff, for the powder. I smiled at Mayra and told her I forgot it. She replied "You can bring it back" in such a cold demeaning way that it made me feel as if she was getting ready to scrap . Maria asked her if she could still do the exchange. Mayra responds with no change in expression, no warmth in her voice just a flat off handed attitude, if she could she would have swung her head from left to right when she replied, " you can do the exchange when you bring it back with the puff." I could even hear the people in the back of me getting quiet. I guess Mayra thinks that in order to be considered chief operational manager one must come off tough and unyielding, right? But I really really wanted to ask her at that point ( ITS GOOD THAT I DIDNT-) "are you S S Ssss--tooopid"?" Do you really think I don't know ULTA NEVER PUTS USED ITEMS BACK IN THE SHELF? Do you really really think that it would make whole difference in price when Ulta puts it in the garbage disposal or shipped off to wherever their mystery pile of unwanted merchandise gets bidding on? You seriously couldn't let me off on this one, for a small courtesy puff that was probably manufactured for mere cents on the dollar? ...considering I spend OVER $5,000 a year at ULTA and have been a DIAMOND Member since 2020? I mean I could have accepted her denying my exchange with grace if she was even a slightly teeeny bit nice about it. But no, I'm just goNnA say it in the very ghetto way I was treated, she had a stank a$$ attitude. It only takes one incompetent person who is illogical and even rude to make me say this: this person is not fit for her position, and if I ever had to deal with her again, I'd rather never shop at Ulta. I truly wonder now how she treats the employees there if she can be this way to a customer. She was thoughtless, uncaring, and intentionally disdainful. Someone with even a slightest clue about customer service might even be able to come up a nice white lie. I even asked her can you give me partial credit. She says we don't do partial credit. Trust me shopping at ULTA AND buying so many products over the years you come to actually learn the fine print yourself. They CAN give you partial credit, or at least refund in a gift card only And not original payment method, if the item is incomplete. So I know she was feeding me horse manure right to my face. But hey, if she wanted to be Mr Scrooge, that fine but doing lieeeee Bout it and if you're going to have to lie AT LEAST be nice about it and add somewhere along the lines the word "sorry"--- "I'm so sorry our company policy doesn't allow us to accept returned items that are incomplete." Is that hard? But to deny, and lie with a ratchet attitude on top of it??? This Ulta gets three stars for the other two wonderful ladies I encountered. What a beauty shop! This place has everythingggggg! I almost forget how gigantic Ulta is. I almost forgot how many brands they actually carry. I almost forgot how truly nice their staff is. I love shopping here. I can stay in this store for hours. They have it all. They always have kind people working here and they're always very helpful! I enjoy this place over Sephora. More space. Larger atmosphere. Not as intense lights or smells and the parking here is always easy to navigate. (Free parking too!) I usually come here to get my fav Mascara but lately I have been eyeing the brow bar to see what it's all about. I also learned today that they have a salon and a "skincare studio" where they do facials. That's fun, I had no idea! I like strolling around looking at everything but honestly what I enjoy most is the reasonable prices. I love that this new store is close to my apt. It's very clean too! A store of liars and crooks! they put on sale stickers, I get to the checkout and all the prices are double, I tell the saleswoman that it doesn't make sense and claims that the color I chose is not on sale, she went back and brought the same color I chose and I look at her in shock and after she understood she continued to argue with me again and it's not included in the sale even though it says on the product that it is. A few moments ago I walked out of ULTA reminded that my skin color and/or the way I dress will forever be a determining factor as to how society treats me. I walked into ULTA for a product that was not available at Target or Walmart. I was greeted promptly- fantastic. A few steps in, I was asked if I needed help finding something. Being a big girl, I said I could find my way around. I chose to walk around, trying to jog my memory in anything else I needed besides nail polish. A few more steps in, again I was approached by a store associate, asking if I needed help. A few more steps in, I was asked again. And again, I said no. The last associate then approached me again, this time with an orange shopping bag asking if I needed such bag- which I did not. I then mentioned to them how in the five minutes I was in this store that one too many people walked up to me and only me, asking I needed help and how weird it was. And imagine my shock to hear said associate say it was for a reason. What's funny is that a white woman that associate pretended to help, had an arm full of products and he didn't offer a shopping bag to her. read more

I walked into the store the other day and right at the front doors where they had Hailey Bieber perfumes, every single perfume bottle is empty so that was a bummer considering I went there to smell them. It was very hard to get any service at the store. I finally, had a girl help me smell some of the perfumes, but she ended up walking away and never came back. It's located in Noho West so it's a cool little area to walk around and there is free parking. I'm just not a huge fan of this store at this location due to the. Sub par service. I purchased some lipstick and lip stains. They were defective so I went to return them. I was under the 30 day ps it had only been 2 days actually. They won't not accept the return. Even though the I had the original receipt and product still in packaging. Apparently if you do not have or want to sign up fir a Ulta account they will not return your item, not even for store credit. They tried to force me to sign up for a account I said no. Since when is it legal to force customers to sign up for accounts they do not want and deny returns? Why are they required to sign up? Why can accounts not be deleted? When the law states the account needs to be just as easy to delete as it was to create. And that does not mean requiring me to call customer service or provide personal identifiable information for something I should be able to delete. I will never shop here again and with the data mining going on I suggest everyone shop else where as well. Poor customer service. Rude employees. Terrible experience. Never again!!!! read more
