I came in here on a rainy day and got the best service the OGee rep Marissa had excellent customer service. There was also two other workers who were great. Sadie has a great smile and has great Customer Service. She's perfect to be running the register and Jason was also great. I had to come back in today to get a color match and their Sadie was. This was my first visit to the shop after hearing so many great recommendations, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I was warmly greeted by Edwin--such a kind, professional, and low-pressure guy. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for: a lightweight foundation to smooth out my aging skin. His demonstration on how to apply it and the perfect color match he chose made me feel confident in his choice. I purchased the Sisley Foundation. They have all the high-end scents from perfume, body wash, lotions, etc. to hair care as well. Prices are what you would expect for the neighborhood. Great product selection... But so far only one staff member has been really consistently helpful. The rest are like super pushy car salesmen. Not sure what the training is or if these folks have burnout but the "hard sell" on whatever they are hyped about pushed at me before I get a chance to get what i came for sucks. I end up not getting what I actually came for nearly every time because I am trying to politely tell someone to back off. The hard sell tactic is just lame. If you see a customer constantly walking away from you or not answering your questions stop trying to sell to them. It's pretty simple. Help customers get what they came for and answer questions if they have them. Also, read the room..usually people buy what is appealing to them.. not the opposite and certainly not from someone judgy pushy sales person who is determined to make sure you don't get what you came for. Great neighborhood beauty store! The staff is very knowledgeable and always help me with my skincare and makeup needs. Alfredo, Elisa and Jazmin recommend great products and actually take the time to teach me about them and how to use them. I don't feel pressured like I do in other stores. I am not the pampering type, but my mom in laws comes to this store when she's in town to get some products that are harder to find in her area. She likes the customer service here, they're nice and give good advice and their bags are cute, too. Recently, I stopped by to get her a couple of things and the store was well organized, everyone was nice and found what I needed. Bluemercuriy is on the pricey side, but pampering doesn't come cheap. Do not buy from Bluemercury. I purchased Supergoop sunscreen and it arrived with an expiration date within 5 months. I contacted customer service and they said they're not able to guarantee expiration dates, despite Supergoop saying it's usually 2 years. if I could give it zero stars I would. The location is great but the customer service is horrible and the last two expensive products I bought were defected. I attached a picture of one of them here. I came this morning, August 5 and purchased Oribe hair serum for $70. When I got home I noticed the bottle wouldn't come out of the box and I had to cut it open to find that the bottle was leaking and the wax was stuck to the box. When I came back to exchange it the lady was extremely rude about it. A month ago I bought a Joe Malone perfume that was sold past its due date, I gave it as a gift to someone and when she opened it it was orange instead of clear and smelled like rotten eggs. When I told the lady that she acted like it wasn't a big deal. I will never shop at this location again. The lady I spoke to said how are they supposed to check each product, well I don't know but this has never happened at any other store except for yours so maybe you guys should probably figure something out, and make sure you don't sell products that are sold past expiration date. I've been to Bluemercury 4 times now, one of which was for a facial + peel. Oscar and Hailey are wonderful; Oscar has helped me tremendously get on track with the right products for what I want to do with my skincare routine. My other skincare experiences have been lacking in that I've had to pull teeth just to get customized recommendations on products and understand the purpose behind certain product ingredients over others. Here, I don't have that problem at all. Both Oscar and Hailey have taken their time to explore options with me and provide their candid input on the pros and cons of specific products/regimens. I recently went for a facial and peel, which was done by Hailey, and it was incredible. All of my past facials at different, high end salons have been painful and didn't yield the results I wanted. In just one session, I got the results I wanted and suffered NO pain, even during the extraction. The combination of products used for my facial allowed all the congestion in my pores to come to the surface for an easy, painless extraction! I have extremely sensitive skin and I am so grateful I can come here to get facials and skincare products that work for ME. This is the first time I've tried skincare products without having adverse reactions; this can only mean that the company and its employees know what they're doing. Although one of the associates told me that another brand I was actually looking for, with a location on the same block, closed and convinced me to buy a product they said was better than the other brand. I walked out and realized the other store was very much still open! I returned the blue mercury product and purchased what I really wanted. Oh I never give a 1 star review but I needed to today. Came at 3pm to purchase a daily essential that isn't sold in too many places (Chantecaille product), only to find a written sign in the front that says "Be back in an hour, thx!" with NO time. Do I wait 10 mins? Or a full hour. I don't know. We waited about 20. Feeling like we might have to wait even longer, My patient husband says he can continue wait with me because he knows how I really needed wanted this product. Of course I won't do that to him. I start thinking, I should've just ordered online - then I think, wait - this isn't my fault! Maybe they are short staffed, but if the hours on their website says 10am-7pm, they should be mindful that there might be a loyal customer who might come from afar during those hours! And what will wind up happening is that the loyal customer becomes distraught, goes down the street to Sephora, where helpful staff helps her become their new loyal customer via a Charlotte Tilbury item that compares nicely. read more

I was not having a good day on Friday , February 23rd . I needed a big cheering up so I figured I would go to blue mercury and buy a sheet mask ($8) and use it with my new Nurse Jamie uplift roller (I bought that at Nordstrom) . So I walk-in and was looking for the sheet masks and was immediately approached by a salesgirl (I didn't catch her name but she had long black hair and green contacts and a nose piercing) she asks me if she can help me find something and I say yes I'm looking for the $8 sheetmasks I've seen on the website. Instead of taking me over to the sheet masks she takes me over to the Juice beauty counter and asks me what my concerns are . I tell her honestly I have puffiness in my eyes but that's because I've been crying today . She pulls out the juice beauty eye treatment ($40) off the counter (the one everyone uses ), barely cleans off the top and proceeded to put it on my eyes with her not clean hands . It all happened so fast , next thing I know she's being extremely pushy about me buying this product . I said well it's more than I anticipated spending when I walked in here . She's like "hey you don't want to buy shit that's just not going to work on your face like a sheet mask ". I was a little taken aback that she would say that . I said well I bought this roller thing (nurse Jamie uplift roller) and put the sheet mask and use the rolly thing over it . I've seen celebrities use it and she's like "no that shit is not going to work on you , how about you buy this cream (again pushing I buy the juice bar cream) and I give you a bunch of samples . I said well (still a little hesitant because I'm starting to feel pressured and frankly stupid) do you have smaller sized bottle . She shows me a gift set that's $50 . By this point i spotted a huge jar at the register with the sheet masks . She's like if you buy this I'll give you a bunch of samples . I didn't know how to get out of this situation so I walked over to the counter and went to the jar and said oh look I found the sheet masks . She walks over and is like "oh those are the $8 masks you were looking for , yes I'm glad you found the $8 masks " . Very condescending! She then completely walked away from the register instead of ringing me up and walked over to a little counter towards the front of the store where a I think manager and her made eye contact . By this time another sales associate was near the register and the manager told her to ring me up . The new sales associate was very sweet but by this time damage was done . I paid for my $8 sheet mask and walked out . I understand that the pressure is on to up the numbers . Sephora is opening up a few blocks away in a few months . I get it ! And I know that business is slow . I've walked by Blue Mercury many a time and the store is completely empty (except for sales associates chit chatting with each other ) especially on weekday afternoons . But I feel as a potential customer I do not deserve to be treated poorly or pressured into buying something I do not need or want to buy . Whether the products I choose to put on my face and body work or not is my business . I don't deserve to be left feeling stupid because I believed a gimmicky thing like a face roller and sheet mask . I honestly bought it cause I wanted to see if it worked and if the hype was real . It's not about the money ... I can afford to buy beauty products that cost more than juice beauty . It's about me feeling extremely pressured. I like the store and I find as a studio city local , it's a nice fit to the neighborhood but as a consumer of luxury beauty items I rather not come back . read more

I have been waiting for yelp to add the blue mercury in studio city. I am so happy to have one just down the street from my house. I constantly am walking ventura Blvd and popped in for some products. One of the sales girls helped me with a whole regiment and I ended up buying a bunch of products I have been loving! One of my concerns was my dry skin and the esthetician hayley told me to come in for a la mer hydrating facial it was AMAZING! My skin has never felt so soft. This place was so helpful. I wanted to get my girlfriend a bunch of make up for Valentine's Day, and I didn't know what to get her. All I knew that she goes to Blue Mercury. I went in, completely lost and had no clue what to get. Ana and Mellisa helped me put together an assortment of items. They explained to me what each does, and what she would like after seeing pictures of her. They even knew the ingredients and what each ingredient did for your face. They wrapped my gift for me and I added a gift card to it. When my girlfriend opened the gift, she screamed in joy. She was shocked, and told me it was the greatest gift she has ever gotten.
