I ask her if they had anymore of a certain makeup and she rudely said if you don't see it out there's no more and turned back around doing what she was doing. For my upcoming wedding, I decided to head over to Ulta to check out the makeup selection (I was told that you're not supposed to wear face makeup with SPF in it for your wedding pictures.) I truly like that you can try out all the products - Benefit, Urban Decay, etc...However, they don't really have samples of the cheaper products like Maybelline, Cover Girl, etc... No one offered to help me while I was in the store. A woman stood at the display next to me unloading products onto the shelf and never once asked if she could assist me. Also, there was a free gift that was supposed to be offered with my purchase. Details about it weren't clear on the signs. When I got to the register, I brought up the product that I thought was supposed to be free. It wasn't. Turns out, it was just a tiny size version of something and they didn't have any. They told me to come back in 2 weeks for my free gift. I told them that I'd be out of the country for my wedding and wouldn't be able to make it in on the day it was supposed to be there. They really didn't care at all. They didn't offer me an alternative gift or anything. So, overall, selection is great but the staff and service really isn't. read more

I was so excited to find an Ulta on my way home. I walked and was greeted right away by two lovely ladies. But as i looked around a searched for products I've been wanting for a while. I was disappointed to find that several items were out of stock. No just one or two, a lot! And some brands that were suppose to be at ulta , like Beauty Bakery, wasnt even at this location. I have officially been sucked in. I've been in Sephora and Sallys, but I'd never been in an Ulta until I went looking for the closest location to my office that sells Bare Escentuals make-up. So - I made a trip to Ulta and was totally impressed. I absolutely love the array of cosmetics and beauty supply here, and I do believe it's cheaper than Sephora and most other places. You'd think that with the cheap price would come a less classy store, but that is not true. This place is gorgeous and the staff was so helpful in getting me the right product and giving me their own recommendations. Not friendly! With a mega store THIS big you'd think customer service was a priority...not here! Plan to be lost, confused and wondering if they expect you to download and app to navigate the store AND check out. When me and two other shoppers, not with me, walked in ALL of the staff were gathered in the make-up application area looking at someone's new made up face like they were in a SAM FINE workshop or something. Shoot, if it was a Fine workshop and everyone wasn't over there I wold have sent them AND stood there myself...but that was NOT the case. I walked past all of them so they could SEE ME and still no hello, how are yo, can I/we help you find anything in our mega store? iI really don't understand why this store has such bad reviews. Its honestly not that bad. Sure things are out of stock sometimes but its a high volume store, and the early bird gets the worm! None of the staff have ever been less than polite if not go out of the way super helpful, although I will agree about the salon. I wouldn't normally review an Ulta, but I went to this one on my lunch break today (a workday/Wednesday afternoon) and it really stood out to me for a few reasons. *Everything was completely in stock (particularly with their Ulta brand makeup) which is an issue I run into a lot at the Park Lane store. As in, do I just order online or brave the story which will likely not have the shades I need in stock type issue. *The store was very well staffed and event though about a one third of them were applying makeup to people yet they still greeted me to make sure I was taken care of. Friendly yet not pushy is my favorite retail employee style which they embodied. *The line was very expedient and organized. There were about 5 people in front of me and I was checking out in under a minute. I got a free Benefit makeup bag with my purchases, which I know was just the current promotion but I wasn't aware of it, okaayyy? Additionally, you know how most stores invite you to complete their survey regarding your satisfaction when you get home if you have a chance? Wellll, here they bribe you to fill it out at the computer set up next to the registers with a sample bag of fragrances which you are awarded upon completion. Completion = 30 seconds of your time. Great ploy on their part, I'm a sucker for samples. Knocking off a star only because: 1.) have only been to in once and 2.) on some of the suncare products I bought which were supposed to be buy one, get one 50% off, I didn't get my $4 (or 50% off) one item which I didn't notice until leaving the store... buttt they scanned a $3.50 off $10 coupon that was sitting at the counter so I'm not too upset. read more

I love that ulta carries a wide variety of both drug store brands cosmetics and hair products as well as professional brands. Unfortunately the employees don't know very much about the professional products. I went in to look for a deva curl product which is usually in the same place. It had been moved so I asked an employee to help me locate it. She had no idea what the product was (even though it's a fairly popular line with lots of products). When we finally did find the row it was on (and only because I had to describe the packaging in detail) I still had to find the product myself. I wanted to find a cheaper alternative to one of the products, but why bother asking her when she clearly isn't very knowledgeable. I'm glad that I'm a cosmetologist and know at least a little bit about several product lines because the employees here are rarely helpful (if you can even find one). read more

My review relates primarily to the hair salon. I went in last week and my hair was desperately in need of a hair shapeup. I went to the salon and asked if there were any openings by one of the stylists, Courtney Duva. She happened to be free at the time and I got my hair shaped up and looked good. Then today I went back to Courtney for highlights. First of all, in all my years (and there are many :) I haven't met a friendlier, fun to talk with hair stylist. That relationship with a hair stylists means a lot to me. She opens up about herself but is interested in her customer as well as being super friendly to her fellow stylists. She did a great job. I sometimes have problems explaining well how I want my hair cut or colored. I suggest bringing a picture. I think the lighting in the store is not the greatest because when I got home and outside in natural light, I liked my hair even better. As far as the customer service at the front desk, it is hit and miss. Sometimes there are really friendly people and sometimes not so much. I spend a lot of money there so when I ask for a sample and am begrudgingly given one little mascara, it doesn't set too well. Don't be tight with those samples ladies. If we like them, we will be back and be spending much more money. read more

After my awful visit to the location on Montfort this week, Tomecca personally went above and beyond to make up for my poor customer experience at the other location. She was so friendly and pleasant, she is the epitome of why this location is an absolute success and is the perfect model of what an employee representing this company should be. BAIT & SWITCH ! I'm posting this because my wife is too much of a kind and gentle don't say anything type person. On her last visit she was given a coupon for a special price for a cut and color on her next visit. Upon arriving for her cut and color today, she told the SAME PERSON who gave her the coupon she had the coupon with her and wanted to use it. The stylist said nothing about the coupon. After receiving services and going to pay her for the cut and color, she was told her coupon was NO GOOD because the stylist told her she had been promoted ! \ YEAH, YOU READ IT CORRECTLY ! She was scammed ! Now I don't care what it cost for her next cut and/or color - IT WILL NOT BE AT ULTA ! The " Oh Crap" part of this is my wife is a member of several women's social clubs in Plano. So I went to this Ulta located on 75 expressway in Plano on Monday 08/08/16. I had appointment for eyebrows and face wax. Eyebrows wax went fine. The girl doing procedure on me was young. She burnt my chin badly. It hurt initially and got red I didn't realize it is bad. I came back home after paying 50+$. Next day I saw it looked bad on my chin. I went back to ulta and wanted to talk to their expert what should I do fix the burn and mark but they ignored me initially. The manager was in the store but never came out to talk to me. The store was empty , there were no customers other than me so I could see and hear all 10 or do employee talking to each other and not me. I started to get curious and requested I need to talk to someone as I have my picture taken for passport tomorrow. A lady came and heard me and was not empathy over my burnt chin. I asked what can I do to fix the burn and she gave me names of otc ointments and oils that I can use. I thanked her for her 'help'. I walked in the store idle to look for oils and found many for burns in one of the section. I went back to them told them they could just gave me these. I told them I'm going to call their customer service to file complaint about their cold behavior when they burnt my chin and gave me scar and were not ready to help me out in any way. The manager said we will return your 50$ and not charge you for the service. I refused to take them back as money was not the issue. The issue was they were acting inhuman and no remorse for giving me scar for half a year that actually is on my passport now. I came home and called there CS and filed a complaint. The region manager called me back, heard my story again. They filed a claim against it. An adjuster would call me initially , asked me the detail of accident and to sent him photos of the burn so they can do something. After I sent them photos, they again have forgotten about it and did nothing regarding to this. So my suggestions is, do not go to this location for any services they still have same people working there. I've stopped going to this location now. Now I go to one on Park lane. read more

I came in excited to buy the tarte shape tape concealer (because a Sephora employee told me it was exclusive to Ulta) and asked an employee to match me. She clumped on a blob and started blending the product up into my temples (instead of down in a 'V' shape). But no biggie because I asked to be matched for color. The color was way too pink so I asked if we could try the shade darker. Before I knew it, she was dabbing my under eye with an alcohol soaked tissue!!!!! I stopped her immediately but it was too late. When I ask someone for help it's because they should know more than I do. See you never, Ulta. read more

Although I usually enjoy Ulta due to having certain products I need, this location is usually sparse in inventory. Additionally, on more than one occasion I have had employees be so rude to me. In fact, I once had a simple question and instead of even providing any assistance, the three staff members at the front of the store just stared at me. No words were spoken, just staring. I'm usually not one to complain about customer service as I have many years working in the service industry, but after many rough experiences here, I now visit the West Plano location much more frequently. read more

The WORST ULTA around town. The women that are suppose to be there to answer questions, treat you like you just pissed in their coffee. I asked them what IT powder was suppose to accompany the IT CC+ foundation and they told me the wrong one. I even questioned it, and they were adamant about buying the powder foundation. I was very polite and courteous and they treated me very poorly. Another time I asked if they had anymore Stila eyeliner in store, the girl said no then walked away. I then went over to the isle to look a little harder... and found it on the top shelf instead of the middle shelf. They are not warm and welcoming at all. Expect to wait in line for about 20-30 minutes while the lady calls for more workers to come help up front... nobody comes. This has happened every time I've been. I am a frequent Ulta shopper, but I would give this location zero stars if it would let me. As almost everyone else has said, the management and employees here are BEYOND rude. Most of my experiences shopping at this location have been less than pleasant, but this past week was the last straw. The manager, Kim, rung up my merchandise incorrectly (which I could clearly see on the screen, she charged me three times for the same item), and then when I pointed it out and asked her to re-ring the items up, she says "honey, I don't care what you're seeing on the card machine screen, I just stood here and rang these up and it's correct." When again, I could CLEARLY see on the screen that she scanned one item three times, and other items I was buying hadn't been scanned at all. The total was entirely wrong. She REFUSED to admit she was wrong and rescan the merchandise. She just stood there and smirked at me telling me "I'm not sure what you want me to do, it looks right on my end." How hard is it to just re-scan the items and ensure everything is ringing up correctly? I have never had a cashier (who is the manager nonetheless) be so blatantly rude, sarcastic, and condescending when THEY were in the wrong. The staff at this location does not care one bit about customer service. They are all rude and act as if you've inconvenienced them if you ask any questions. I will never give this location my business again. If this is the closest location to you, drive the extra few miles and take your time and money to a different Ulta. So I've always been a fan of ulta and I've been to this store in particular several times and every time it's like a small catastrophe happening. Seriously it's always a mess... Even when not busy.. Every time they are out of something I want.. And the biggest peev of all is there never seems to be someone who knows how to use the computers! I asked to use my rewards points today she applied it then voided it, I pointed it out so she applies it again then voids it... Okay wtf. When I told her yet again that it had been voided she assured me even had a "manager" tell me it was applied ( not sure how she knew that when she didn't look at the computer screen ) but okay whatever I'm not going to keep arguing. Sure as sh*t I don't have the credit on my receipt. But the most amazing thing of this trip is my husband went to get his haircut. He is very particular about his hair ( who isn't?) asked for someone who really knows how to cut men's hair... He gets a gal who sits there and asks another stylist how to blend what the difference better a 2 and 3 clippers... Ahhh are you kidding me?? I wish I had read these reviews before I made an appointment to get a haircut/style & advice on a hair styling tool. I'd been considering buying a hot brush to use on my thick, coarse & wavy hair. I thought it was a good idea to buy a styling tool (with the stylist's advice) & then use it during my appointment. I called to make an appointment & explained my dilemma to Courtney (very nice & courteous) & explained that I would only have about 50 minutes as I needed 10 minutes to drive to work rom the salon & they open at 10am & I start at 11am. She set me up with Jeremy, who she said was a salon manager. I thought this might be a good idea although I didn't ask for that. I went in the day before to look a the tools & a nice gal named Jaclyn helped me look at the options. I wasn't sure what to buy so I decided to wait until my appointment the next day. When I showed up for my appointment, I was told by the only stylist in the salon that Jeremy was not there. She looked at the computer & said my appointment was with her. Apparently someone had changed the appointment & did not have the courtesy to call & let me know. In hindsight, I should have left right then. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it but when I explained what I wanted to do it was obvious that none of my request was entered on the computer. She even said "the cost will be $37 instead of $20.." what?! I guess they thought I could go to work with a "wet cut". I explained how she needed to cut a lot of the bulk out of my hair. When I looked at my ticket as I went to pay, it said $47. I stopped & went back and asked her. Did you say $37 or $47? She said "Oh I'm sorry..." You could tell she knew she made a mistake & thought she could pull one over on me. Again, I accepted it. I could tell two days later it was a HORRIBLE cut. Three weeks later, I have the worst haircut since I was 14 - some 45+ years later! I normally go to the Ulta near my home in Frisco & they are always busy. The one at Plano Parkway & Hwy 75 is close to where I work. BIG MISTAKE! read more

I actually really like this ulta. It used to be one of my preferred in the DFW metroplex. The customer service is "ehh", but somehow I always walk out with a basket full of things. The gals at the salon are much more knowledgable. I did have a slight problem w/ the gal who I was doing my return with a few weeks ago. I think she was the manager actually - Well, I waited patiently in line and when it was my turn brought up my return/exchange and told her that customer service emailed the receipt to the store. (I had called ahead of time to make the process go smoothy". She seemed annoyed with me and told me to wait aside, then proceeded to take 3 other customers. [The line was not unmanageable, nor was it necessary that they had prompt attention in my opinion]. (2 other registers were open as well....) another sales associate saw me waiting, asked what I was waiting for & then grabbed return and said she would go to the back to get the receipt. When she returned, she processed it with no problem. (Took her maybe 2 minutes to run to the back to get it). Maybe i'm being overly critical, but I was offended that my "return" which was actually and exchange wasn't worth her time. The stuckup attitude of gal #1 has turned me away from this location. Although this is one of my favorite ultas, I may sadly have to find a new one. read more

My bf & I were in the area and decided to stop by so I could exchange some items and buy a bit more for a friend. After standing in line for about 5 minutes while 1 cashier struggled to do her job, I thought it'd be a good idea to shop first and then go through the exchange process. Sadly, that way wasn't necessarily faster... I found most of the items I wanted and got in line, only to have the same cashier struggle to help me. It's like she was new but also rude... She asked via her walky-talky ear peice how to do my return, asked me a question and hushed me by putting her finger up as if to say stop or 1 minute... Maybe I took it the wrong way but I found that offensive. This experience just gives me more reason to shop online... Btw, check the safety seals on your purchases, a ton of stuff was ripped open and possibly used in the impulse buy racks near the register. Yuck. read more

I wanted someone to help me with the Anastasia Brow Dip, all I got was, "you should try this color" then she literally walked away...Ok fine, no big deal. I have shopped at different Ulta stores around the country and this Plano location is by far the worst experience ever. No one greeted me as I walked in and not one associate asked if they could help me with anything the entire time I was there. I had a list of products I wanted to check out but the store was a mess and filthy. I couldn't find what I was lookin for. After walking around for about 20 minutes feeling completely unwelcome and uncomfortable, I grabbed a couple of things I needed and went to the register to check out. In the past, my review would have been 5 starts, but recently I wonder why I even go to this Ulta location anymore. Before, the staff were always welcoming and I always had someone ask if I needed assistance every 15 minutes. Now when I walk in, I don't receive any greeting and the cashiers look at me like I have some wierd disease. When I walk around, I notice the employees would huddle around and talk for awhile near the makeup session. So overall in customer service...this location is not friendly. However, if you're looking for an organized, clean, and quick trip location...this is the place for you! Being a no makeup kind of girl I rarely come here but every time I visit Ulta I always get the same crappy service. There are times where you can't find anyone working out on the floor. If there is anyone out on the floor good luck getting a polite answer. The last time I went here I was looking at foundations. One of the workers told me that bare minerals is not good and that I should look at some new brand. Well luckily there was a rep from the cosmetic brand that was there to show me their stuff. I can clearly tell that they had some kind of deal going on. To be honest I use bare minerals and have no problem with it. There are several times where I asked questions about certain items and got no help. There was at least one or two times where I got help from someone who was honest and knew what they were talking about. It seems I am not the only one that have this kind of issue. read more
