I have made several appointments from brow wax to haircuts that are always cancelled due to someone calling off or someone not being able to perform the service they were scheduled with. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. If I had to guess, I cried for several hours after my session. Hair is extremely important and I expected a lot more from someone who had "35 years of experience." First off, I understand that my hair is hard to color, so I asked multiple times before the session to see if it was possible to get my hair to where I wanted and the stylist assured me saying that she could. Then, during my session, she left me unattended for about 40 minutes under the dryer which damaged my hair. She also suddenly told me that she is going to charge me hourly instead of the price that was listed on the website for what I wanted. I did not want to come out with half done hair, so I begrudgingly agreed. In the end, she told me there was no way my hair could get to where I wanted (which is fine, I just would've liked to know that before the session). I was clearly upset and unhappy with the hair and ended up crying while the stylist kept insisting that what she did was good work and about how she has been doing hair for 35 years and knows what she's doing. But I had to pay $400 for hair that not only took forever but also damaged my hair, was nothing like what I asked for, and is uneven. I was absolutely furious with what they've done with my hair, so I decided to wait a day to really sit with it and then call back the next day. I knew my hair was ruined so there was no way to fix it, so all I wanted was a refund. I called the store and they seemed pretty reluctant to give me one and kept insisting that they could have someone fix it, but I knew that my hair was damaged enough so I did not want anything else happening to it. Finally, they agreed to give me a refund. But this doesn't help as I still had awful and damaged hair. I asked what I should do as I now had to walk around with this damaged hair. They simply told me to book another session. There is no way I would pay again for something they messed up, especially since I would have to walk around for weeks with damaged hair. Ever since this experience, I have been hiding my hair and only showing it to other stylists in hope that they can fix it. All of them were shocked at how awful the hair was and some even said they couldn't fix it as it was so damaged. Now I have to wait with this awful hair and Ulta doesn't even care. read more

I was running low on my every day cologne (Dior Homme) and wanted to try something new. After endless hours of research on YouTube and TikTok, I narrowed down my list of cologne I wanted to try. Ulta was the closest store to my house so I drove over hoping I could smell some of the fragrances instead of blindly buying an expensive bottle that I might not like. Stephanie saw me looking at the various colognes and got the key so we could smell what they had. Ulta didn't have every bottle on my list to test or purchase, but they had many of the popular ones. Stephanie allowed me to smell so many different colognes and recommended a few great ones that wasn't on my list too. She even got me a pen to mark down the various test strips so I could remember which fragrance was what. My heart was pretty set on YSL MYSLF EDP, but thankfully I went home to ask what my fiancée liked. She thought it smelled too florally and didn't like the orange blossom scent mixed with wood notes. It gave her a head ache so we went over all the other test strips. We settled on Dior's Sauvage EDP instead. It's not my absolute favorite since it's what I imagine a nightclub or evening out fragrance would smell like, but it's great enough to wear every day when I don't want to use my Allure Homme Sport. I was going to come back to the store to buy the cologne, but Ulta's website included free gifts with my purchase so I got it there instead. The 5 stars is for Sharee. This lady knew her stuff. We were overwhelmed by all the choices of mens cologne so we asked the first person that walked by and we got a winner. She showed us some of her favorites as well as popular scents. Aseel lied to me and tried to get me to sign up for a credit card. I asked her if it's only a rewards card and she assured me it was. When I started filling out the info on the keypad it was asking me for my ss. I asked her again if it was a cc and she said yes but it's mainly to get points. I am a regular client at this place, both salon and store. I have not had any negative experiences with anyone. The stylists at the salon are so professional! Prices are fixed so there is no playing around. There's no games. The salon offers competitive prices. With so many small salons that overcharge for services like highlights, I am better off going to Ulta. At least I know they do the job right each time. Do not get a haircut here. I gave up on getting a good haircut at Ulta long ago. However, I have continued to get my daughter's hair cut at various Ulta locations. Until today, we have had great experiences with getting a kids cut for my daughter at other locations. Today was our first appointment at this particular location. We arrived a few minutes early and not a single hair stylist was present. Ours walked in late, with no apology. Not a big deal except that she was then clearly in a bad mood and CLEARLY not a kid person. She was rude and not at all gentle. I eventually just asked to end the hair cut in the hair drying stage before the front was cut, due to my daughter being in obvious pain. Before this point I had watched my daughter being uncomfortable and in pain for the entirety of the experience. Upon smelling the high heat of the hair dryer and seeing tears in my daughter's eyes, I asked the stylist if she could turn down the heat. Her response was a rude look on her face and the comment, "It's not that hot. I promise I'm not trying to burn her." So she turned down the heat and continued her aggressive approach. She was super condescending when I said we wanted to go ahead and end the haircut because my daughter had tears in her eyes and I was honestly tired of watching her interact rudely with my daughter. As we were leaving I addressed the issues we had and she decided to go with a gaslighting approach instead of a good customer service approach. She said it was "my perception" and that "she hopes my day gets better" instead of owning up to her unprofessional behavior or offering any type of apology. She actually used the phrase "I'm a professional" at which point I had to try and not laugh out loud at the contradiction between that statement and her behavior. To say this woman did not want to be at work today is an extreme understatement. I will say the manager at this location was great. However, now we get to go back up to the store for a refund so that we can finish the haircut somewhere else. I've had a few bad haircuts in my day and not said a word because the person was nice and polite. At the end of the day I'm pretty sure I was just labeled as an "emotional mom" instead of there being any accountability for this stylist, so I would recommend talking your child to a different location or salon in general. I was extremely disappointed with my experience here over the weekend due to the rude attitude and racist comment the cashier made to me. Jennifer S., an Ulta employee was rude to me from the beginning and I didn't understand why at first. I had some returns to do and she asked for my receipt, I showed her the barcode on my phone but she grabbed my phone without asking for my permission. She spent a good 2-3 mins scrolling up and down my phone and I asked her why since she already scanned the barcode. She looked up at me, rolled her eyes, and in the rudest tone she said I need to scan your barcode, which she did already. Since I'm a mother of a 4 months and a 2 year old child, I have to be cautious with germs and even more so during a pandemic so I asked her for wipes. She didn't throw the wipes at me but she didn't handed nicely either and say "that's funny." I asked her why is that funny and she said because "it's funny." She then inconsiderately told me I should wear gloves. Toward the end of the transaction, I had to sign the receipt, she wouldn't hand me a pen and suggested "I have my own pen." I ended up signing the receipt with my fingernails because I didn't have a pen. Ulta-Please explain to me why "it's funny" that I asked for wipes. Is it because I'm Asian American and I somehow brought the germs so it's funny that I asked for wipes to clean my phone after a stranger grabbed my phone? Ulta-Please train your employees to do better. Train your employees to not grab customers' phone without permission. Train your employees to be kind to customers. Train your employees not to be racist toward person of color. P.S. It didn't help that her mask was completely exposing her nose. Please also train your employees to wear masks correctly. P.S.S She didn't clean the counter or her hands from one transaction to another either. Also need some training in this area too. I'm hurt and disappointed and won't be returning until it's resolved. read more

I just left the store. I'm sitting in my car right now writing this review. My birthday was February 26 and I wanted to wait to use the gift card I knew I would be getting from a party I had yesterday. I came in to buy a bunch of things and redeem my free gift for my birthday and they would not allow me to get my gift because today is March 1. The manager was very rude about it and it made me embarrassed to be honest. I asked if there was anything they could do, any exceptions whatsoever, loopholes, anything. Nope. What she did different than any associate has done for me in the past is walk me over to the window to get natural lightening whereas the lights in Ulta are bright but not as bright as outside. Great store with a lot of selection. Like how it's located on the side of the highway so it's easy access. Several areas needed a bit more stock, but mainly they had plenty of items available. The make up aisles are a little confusing since there's not a lot of clear direction on which companies are where. Would be nice to get larger signs but I suppose if you go often enough you'd know. Was asked a few times if I needed help so seems like the service is good. The check out line didn't have a good place to queue up, but there weren't a lot of shoppers at the time. Just a note to add, after using the Croc Ice dryer - absolutely loved it! The dryer motor is quiet, so you don't get that harsh dryer sound. Many different levels of heat so doesn't have to be super hot to dry your hair. And the stream-lined nozzle focuses the air flow for quick dry time. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the most amazing staff members. I specifically purchase my Lancome foundation at Ulta and I went here just for that. I hadn't been to this location and I'm glad I did. Everyone was incredibly nice. I was asked if I needed help even before I asked for help. I told the sales associate the specific product that I needed. She grabbed it for me and I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes! At most of the Ulta's that I've been to, I get sub par customer service. I don't get help when I asked for it. I typically roam the store looking for help and when I find someone they are either busy or with a customer. Not here!! Everyone is willing to help and they are extremely courteous. I have read so many bad reviews for this location but my experiences have all been great!! I have always been greeted as soon as I walk in, including today. There's always someone around to help. Today I was looking for something very specific for my young cheerleaders and the staff member was able to help me with exactly what I wanted. She was really nice and with her help I was able to get and out pretty quickly. Several months ago I returned shampoo and conditioner that I did not like after using it several times. I was able to return it no questions asked! I will definitely be back. With the rewards program, I get points and I get coupons in the mail and email. Yesterday I walked into the Plano salon with the hair shown in the first picture. I had called the night before and shared the box dyes I had done during the pandemic and that I had the under side of my hair dyed blue with a black shadow root at Ulta before so there was a black band I was aware would possibly not be covered by color (even though it had been in the past but every new stylist wants me to know that it might not cover. Fine. I've been told. It's cool if it doesn't get covered. It's grown out to be in my pony tail when my hairs up now anyway) - i advised I wanted 7CC, no red in my hair. I wanted to make sure we were all good to go and the person in the phone said it sounded pretty easy and if I've had it done at an Ulta before there shouldn't be any issues. Cool, she notes and I make the appointment. I show up the next day and I'm asked if I can push my apt back an hour because the previous process is taking longer than expected. Fine. My fiancé and I went and had lunch and came back. Still another 30 min until I get taken back. I explain the same thing that I told the lady on the phone and what was in my notes and the stylists starts immediately telling me there is no way i could get the color I wanted because my roots are "so dark" and that I would have to bleach all my hair if I wanted it orange. Please note that my hair was already orange except for the roots and I have NEVER had to bleach my hair except for the one time i did a light fashion color on the underside. She then starts showing me swatches with copper undertones but we're red not orange. She tried to tell me the 5 or 6 CR was the lightest my hair could possibly go with out bleaching my hair. I said I wanted the 7 CC with no bleach because that is what I had in my hair before. Note that in the past I had been told my roots were a level 6 so taking my hair to a level 5 would have been making it DARKER. It's pretty clear that I'm not going to get what I want so I said I was just going to leave. She tries to convince me to stay by saying she just "had to be honest" which I get but my hair was already a faded orange before I walked in, i was just asking for the ends to be refreshed and my roots to be dyed. Again she says my hair is too dark and won't lighten to a 7 without bleach blah blah blah. She also told me I was being confusing because I said I didn't want any red in my hair but that I wanted "ginger hair". It's like she didn't even under stand I didnt want the DYE labeled with the R but the copper which I know is a shade of red but it isn't the RED dye it's the COPPER dye. Finally I told her that wasn't what I wanted and i didn't want to pay for something i was going to hate so I left in tears feeling like I was crazy. I honestly was at a loss for words. My hair has always lifted so easily and dyed nicely and I've always been told I was a "dark blonde" by stylists in the past. I thought maybe over the past few years my hair got darker? Idk but I was so very frustrated. I called after composing myself to try and share my story with the manager and try to get an appointment with a different stylist who could help me. I had had my hair dyed copper before at a different Ulta no problem! Something weird was happening. I explained to the manager how I felt gaslighted and I was being shown a color darker than what I wanted etc and the manager said that she was right there the whole time! (She was not) and the stylist was absolutely correct, my hair was SO dark and it was impossible to get to the color I wanted without bleach. After arguing with here for a few minuets, still being dismissed and gas lighted, i finally hung up and chose to call the Ulta salon in Garland. I had been there before and got exactly what I wanted (the only reason I tried the salon in Plano is because I had moved and figured it would all be more or less that same-- i was very wrong). I went in for a quick consult at the garland location because I wanted to see if they thought my hair was too dark or that it had gotten darker since the last time I went. The other stylist was very kind and said to her my hair looked like a level six dark blonde and should be able to get to copper with only a 20 volume developer and no bleach easy. I booked the appt for today and got EXACTLY what I had been asking for. The stylist actually told me I just needed a 20 volume developer with the 7CC color on my roots and did a copper gloss on my ends to revitalise my ends without having to re lift my ends. The color is absolutely perfect WITH NO BLEACH. Oh.. and the black band is completely invisible with just the gloss, it will come back as the color fades because with reds that's just the way it is but it's covered for now. read more

I walked in to this place to browse, and the associates greeted me and asked me if I needed any help. I said "i'm ok, just browsing, thank you!" A couple other associates checked in and it was all fine. Yet every minute, another sales associate would ask me if I was "still doing ok." Three sales associates asked me if I was doing ok within a minute. It's a bit too much to be honest. Completely ruined my shopping experience, and even after I told them that everyone has already asked me and I am ok, more sales associates kept asking. Let me preface this review by saying I enjoy Ulta Beauty as a whole. They have a good selection and a good rewards program. What I don't love is this particular Ulta store. There is always a long line and never enough people to check out. The associates that are working the floor aren't particularly helpful or knowledgeable. Worst of all is the curbside pickup. On multiple occasions I have waited 20+ minutes for my order to be brought to my car. I'm actually writing this review as I sit in my car and wait for my order. It has now passed 30 minutes. I have called the store and they RUDELY told me to be patient or come inside. I have sleeping babies in the car. I purposely chose curbside pickup so I did not have to come inside. This is beyond frustrating to me. While I love Ulta, I don't love this store. In the future I will drive a little farther and go to a store with better customer service. read more

I'm a frequent Ulta shopper. And this location is the closest to me. But I have watched this location downhill. Less inventory and staff than other locations, etc. But today was the final straw. I will now be driving to the one at Park and Preston. My daughters and I walked in at 8:50. We knew the store was about to close, so we divided up to quickly grab the things we wanted and get out quickly to be respectful. We were rudely approached at 8:52 and told the store was closed by the manager, Kim. We told her what we were looking for and she put it in our hand and said again "we are closed" as she gave us a dirty look. We quickly went to counter and witnessed her escorting another lady out who walked in at 8:55, saying "we're closed." And proceeded to loudly tell her coworker how rude people are that come in at 9. At least the young lady who checked us out was nice. We walked out at exactly 9 pm but had to be let out of doors that had been locked since right after we walked in. I worked in retail for years and was really trying to be respectful and quick. But we didn't need to be treated like that. read more

Worst customer service ever! I went in here looking for the Stilla Trio Smudgepot that they advertised. I was really excited, but they did not have any on the shelves. I looked around for a good five minutes trying to find somebody to help me. The only person I saw was doing somebody's makeup at the Bare Escentuals Counter. FINALLY, I found somebody else. I POLITELY said, "excuse me," and she RUDELY quipped back, "I'm doing three things right now, you're going to have to wait." So, I put down my two Essie nail polishes and headed out the door.
