I stopped by Ulta to shop for a few items and had a great experience with the sales associates everyone was helpful, friendly, and welcoming. However, my visit to the Ulta Brow Bar was disappointing. I approached the representative with a few questions about services and made it clear I was willing to wait my turn. I believe in speaking with a provider before spending money on a service. Instead of offering insight or answering my questions, I was told to "Google the service to see what it includes." That was enough for me. I don't feel comfortable paying a provider who dismisses direct questions and redirects me to a search engine when I'm standing right there, ready to learn more. While I love the Ulta store overall clean, well-stocked, and staffed with wonderful employees the Brow Bar experience was a letdown. I was recommended to Ulta (normally a Sephora girl), and while I'll continue shopping here, I'll look elsewhere for brow services where my time, questions, and money are valued. read more

I went in to schedule a consultation TWICE and had the strangest interaction both times with an employee who I assume was the salon manager. The first time, she said there was no one available and to come back another day. I instantly got the vibe that they couldn't care less whether or not I booked there. As a paying customer, that is not a good feeling. Against my better judgment, I went back a different day. Same lady was there and asked me to pull up a picture of what I want, then proceeded to tell me that my hair already looks exactly like that.... Spoiler alert: it doesn't. For whatever reason, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for a consultation with a stylist. Well, they cancelled on the day of the appointment. I really needed my hair done. I came in with an idea and was told I needed to pull up picture to show-odd, but I did. I just wanted icy highlights. I also told her my scalp was sensitive and she packed bleach on, needless to say it burned. She didnt wash product out all the way, I had some left on the back of my neck. Not only were they not icy highlights, theyre not blended and look super unnatural. Parts of my hair are chunky blonde. Dont waste your money here--go to a real salon. read more

Ok ok ok this place does not have the greatest reviews, but I am giving 4 stars because Jett was an absolute gem. I came here looking for makeup for my engagement photos and I was basically a lost puppy dog. I wondered around for about 30 minutes and got some stuff but I was really struggling with matching my skin tone. Jett came over and asked if I needed help and proceeded to walk me through a whole make up routine, what products they recommend, matched my color and really just boosted my confidence. I'm not sure what the rest of the staff is like, but everyone seemed friendly. I will say they did seem like they were out of stock for a lot of products, but I'm not really sure that is there fault...everywhere is facing supply chain issues so let's be a little bit more understanding! read more

Sometimes their items are out of stock and stay that way which is a bit frustrating but I end finding some pretty great deals at the end of it after searching! The workers are always helpful and very nice which I appreciate. Overall, I've had pretty good experiences at this place. read more

This location is nice. I've popped in from time to time. The store is pretty organized and well lit. I think I prefer the West Ashley store. The layout is a little different. The aisles at this store seem closer together. It can be difficult to find an associate for assistance and when you do, they definitely don't do the extra mile with customer service. read more

Took my daughter to get an express Keratin treatment and Christina did an absolutely terrible job. I understand that a full treatment is hours and more steps but she didn't even leave with her hair looking remotely done. I don't understand what is so hard about saying " I'm not an expert with this hair texture- here's someone I can recommend". She made several attempts to convince me that my daughter's hair was already feeling "so much smoother" when that was not even the case. I couldn't even believe what was happening it took me a while to process. She saw how disappointed we were and made no attempt to rectify it. When my daughter got to the car she started crying hysterically. Once we got home I looked her hair and it wasn't even washed properly. I cannot believe I paid for that service. The "trim" is botched. This was such a traumatic experience. The fact that her description says "elite" stylist is simply untrue. An elite stylist would have the integrity to say they aren't good with certain hair textures. read more

Went blonde for a like an hour! Never going to Ulta Beauty again, I asked for highlights and came out a full on blonde. I simply asked her to lighten my old highlights to the color in the last picture.. and i think she just did what she wanted.. the color was uneven & the my hair was like 4 different colors when she was done and not to mention she told me 30 minutes into the bleach setting that she couldn't guarantee that she could get my hair to the color in the picture I showed her at the beginning (instead of giving me her professional advise before starting.) I shop here pretty often and, as others have said, if you know what you want you will be just fine in here. Don't expect to be asked if you need any help. You will likely have to track down someone to help you yourself. They aren't always well stocked but the last few times I've been in there has only been one item I wanted that they didn't have (one of the latest Essie polishes but you can walk next door to Target and grab it). Definitely sign up for their free rewards program because they send out coupons and catalogs. I love when they have promos like the recent 21 days of beauty. I pretty much live in this store, and have never had a complaint. While I do like many cosmetics, I prefer brands such as Benefit and Urban Decay. Ulta is great about having drug store, low end, and high end cosmetics, as well as hair care, skin care, and miscellaneous nail items. While their selection of Essie polish isn't always up to date like Target's is, they have a ton of colors to choose from. Also, Ulta puts their brand of products on steep discount every so often, makings many of them $1, $2, $4, and $8! I love their rewards program! Why buy anything at the grocery store or pharmacy when you can grab it here and get points?? I havent tried out their salon services, but I frequent the Benefit Brow Bar - these gals know what they are doing and they get you in and out with amazing service. Definitely 5 stars! read more

I buy all of my beauty products at Ulta. They have the best rewards program out there and I always get money to put towards items that I need. I love being a platinum member because I get free items all the time. This store is always well stocked and the associates are friendly, but like others have said, it is hard to find someone to help you and the check out lines are always long. I have to say that I had to get a consultation today in order to get my free full size Clinique foundation (which, I might add, is because I'm a platinum rewards member). The girl who helped me was super knowledgeable about the makeup and said she previously worked at MAC for years. She was very sweet and I will be back because of her help. Just moved here and was so excited I had an Ulta close to my new home. But sadly I was disappointed :(. I have always came to Ulta for brow service. But she refused to wax me. I've never ran into this issue before I get waxed every 2 months and it's been well over that time frame. She plucked 2-3 hairs and waxed only one side down the middle and I asked if she can wax and she said No there's nothing to wax.. I had to go home after paying 24$ and completely tweeze it myself. I bought the elf clear brow gel. When I got home it was clearly used. The gel is supposed to be clear and it was white like it was left out and was dug into. Thankfully I didn't use it. But what if I didn't know what it was supposed to look like and used it, then got an infection? I understand people return things, but they are supposed to check to make sure people are telling the truth and that it is truly unused. Especially with Covid right now. Booked a hair appointment for the 11th with Elaina told her over text messages what I wanted and what type of color I already had. Go to my appointment on the date even show up early. I love Ulta. I really, really love them. However, if I could give this location a minus 5 stars I would! This Summerville location is worse than awful. I have been into this Ulta three times, and all three times I have had a very bad to really horrible experience. They have been out of product-on 2 occasions- that I need. And twice I have had to stand and wait forever and ever in line. Both times I stood waiting for so long that I had to leave the store with my product unpurchased and left on the counter. Both occasions it was because somebody needed to return and/or exchange something. Both times there was only one girl working at the counter, and she is either unwilling or too stupid to ask someone to come and help out at the other registers. So me and a bunch of other customers were left standing in line...waiting...and waiting...and waiting for someone unseen, somewhere else in the store-to to authorize the returm or find the proper product to exchange at the counter. Really? I'm a very busy woman. I have a schedule to maintain. Just call for someone to open your second (or 3rd) register, and get the line moving while you stand there waiting like a brainless carp! Today was my 3rd attempt at this Ulta. They did not have the loose face powder that I wanted. As a matter of fact the entire shelf was completely empty. After spending about 5 full minutes looking for someone to help me, a very snotty blonde girl came over very huffy and asked if I needed something. I asked if they had the face powder in the back in the stock room, and she said they got a truck in today and please check back tomorrow. I'm wondering why she could not have gone back to the stock room since the truck had made a delivery and opened up a couple of boxes to find the face powder. She then proceeded to go to the front of the store and rife through a few boxes of miscellaneous Maybelline products: None of which was even the BRAND of what I wanted; she looked up from the boxes and said nope sorry its not here you'll have to come back or call tomorrow. Absolute disorder. I am a licensed makeup artist and I came in on the Memorial Day Holiday due to some sales. They had a $4.50 for the Ulta lipsticks which I grabbed 3. All over their line (Ulta makeup line) they had this sale on lipsticks. I get to the register they ring up regulator price I pick up the paper tell the girl it's their mistake, and I should be given the lipsticks to the price it's listed since it's their mistake. They called a manager she would not allow me to get the lipsticks at the $4.50 price even tho it was their mistake. I paid for the other items didn't take the lipsticks and told them their customer service sucks! For being a manager she could care a less about the mess her store had, her customer service was awful for a manager. I rather go to Sephora get exceptional service and a clean place to shop! I go to Ulta ALL the time. I come here to get regular every day products for my face and lotion. Sometimes they have great deals on products I use regularly, like buy one get the second off. I shop here too much because I am a "platinum customer". This location is clean and overall friendly. They are short staffed sometimes which is annoying because of the long waits. Sometimes they run out of stock on items and they will tell you the day it comes in and it never does... Overall, I go here regularly but I don't trust anything anyone tells me and expect to wait in lines. read more

Lauren is very sweet, but probably gave me the worst hair cut ever. Crazy high fade, and 2 inches off the top. I now look in between a cop and Kramer from Seinfeld. Asked for a 2 on the sides and half inch off the top to keep the length. If there could be an opposite of what I asked for, I think this would be it. I went to a salon this time because sports clips usually breaks out the lawnmower on my head which I do not like because I want to keep the length. And at Ulta, I got the lawnmower, and weed wacker.
