Really disappointed with the customer service. I called this Ulta to ask about their salon because I simply wanted to schedule a hair and makeup appointment for my birthday. Instead of being helpful, the person who answered the phone was completely rude, unenthusiastic, and had an awful tone the entire conversation. It felt like I was bothering her just by asking basic questions. I truly wish I had gotten her name, because the way she spoke to me was unacceptable. Customer service matters, especially when someone is calling for a special occasion. This interaction completely turned me off from booking anything here. Ulta is supposed to be a place that celebrates creativity, self-expression, and confidence, but that was not reflected at all in this experience. She helped me through the whole store, not just through her brand (even though that brand is amazing and I will be coming back for more of that specifically) She didn't rush me, she took the time to understand what I was looking for and recommended amazing things to help me feel like a person again. 100% I'll be coming back looking for her specifically. Although this store has a good selection and helpful staff, their core business ethics are severely lacking. It was my personal experience on 4/30/26 to approach the cashier with products valued at $412.00. I was offered a credit card which would provide me a 20% discount. I quickly did the math and eventhough I didn't want another credit card I applied for the card because I felt $88 was a substantial savings. (I have a credit score of 835. The BEST score you can possibly have is 850. I assumed this would be a slam-dunk.) After entering my information the cashier told me "I wasn't approved-the bank needed more information-and she wouldn't be able to provide the discount." If this sounds familiar to you, don't be surprised because the cashier told me "this happens ALL THE TIME." Of course it happens all the time because the store has found a way to renege on providing their customer(s) with a discount simply by saying "the bank needs additional information." To say I was shocked to hear this would be an understatement. So I was even more shocked 2 days later, on 5/2/26, when I received my brand new Ulta card from Comenity Bank with an $8,000 limit. I phoned the bank and learned they DIDN'T need more information from me. They were happy to open an account for me based on the information provided in store on 4/30. I explained the circumstances and closed the account immediately. Bottom line, if you have shopped at this store, applied for a credit card was then told "sorry, the bank needs more information so we won't be able to give you that discount off your purchase today," you have been the recipient of an unethical business practice and perhaps you should consider spending your beauty product dollars at a reputable store like Sephora. read more

And because they don't offer take-home samples, shoppers are constantly having to use the bottles on display and it's dirty and germy in the makeup section. Overall it's just "low-level" at this location, may as well be at Walmart or Target (sorry not sorry). I used to shop at Sephora and Macy's. I've been giving Ulta a try the past two years, but constantly disappointed here. We visited this location for makeup to be done on a few girls for an event and it was not coordinated well. We all made appointments with their online booking service months in advance and there were last minute cancellations. The day of, one makeup stylist did not get to one customer for 40 minutes after the appointment time! We had to cancel because the bride was about to be done and we could not make her late. The "front desk" receptionists were no help, they just stood there and did not even provide help. Avoid- go to Sephora. read more

On April 30th I spent over an hour at the Ulta on Winchester. My purchases were financially significant, over $400. The cashier recommended I could save $88 by applying for an Ulta credit card. I hesitated, but for $88 in savings, I agreed and entered all information. The cashier then told me the bank requires additional information so we won't be able to approve your application today so I can't give you the $88 in discounts. I have an outstanding (greater than 800) credit rating. I was appalled but paid w/my Am. Ex. Today, May 2nd, I just received acknowledgement that I was approved for the Ulta credit card. 2 days ago I was declined and it cost me $88. Now I'm a good risk? Not sure if it's the store or the bank but something here is not right. read more

I recently took a big risk booking an appointment at Ulta after going to the same hairstylist for over 25 years because she couldn't take me-- and I am so incredibly grateful that I chose Ashley. From the moment my daughter and I walked in, she was warm, kind, professional, and completely honest about my hair type, what would work, and what might not. I instantly felt comfortable with her. I brought in some inspiration photos for a balayage ash-beige highlight look with a money piece, and Ashley exceeded every expectation. She spent about 3-4 hours carefully working on my hair -- toning, coloring, cutting, styling -- and the results were absolutely stunning. The pictures came out exactly how I had envisioned them. Even when the tone was slightly brassy at one point, she immediately went back and corrected it without hesitation. Her attention to detail truly amazed me. It's rare to find someone who is both incredibly talented and genuinely caring, but Ashley is exactly that. She went above and beyond and I left feeling so well taken care of. Ashley is hands-on, highly skilled, honest, and extremely professional. In my opinion, she is one of the best stylists, and I sincerely hope she is recognized, promoted, and rewarded for the outstanding work she does. I had an appt @ Ulta-Temecula for 5:30 pm w/Jose. Arrived at 5:15 pm No one greeted me Then they told me that I didn't have an appt. I showed them the Ulta confirmation. All they could say was that Jose went home sick & they couldn't do anything. They said that they were full. I even let the girl know that all I needed was to have color put on & washed out and that I would do my own styling at home. They told me to call a different Ulta. I let them know that I am in a wedding tomorrow @ noon. I will have to leave Temecula to get to Los Angeles by 8:00 am or at latest 8:30 am A friend had dropped me off for this appt and there is NO WAY I could be picked up before 8:30 pm. I didn't have the keys to my house with me, so it would do me no good to Uber because I couldn't get into my house THIS BY FAR MY WORST ULTA EXPERIENCE I HAVE CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER COMPLAINT DEPT & IT IS BE ESCALATED TO A HIGH LEVEL MANAGER. The worst experience I've ever had at Ulta (40460 Winchester Rd, Temecula). On September 6, 2025, after almost two hours of shopping and spending $250, in my experience I overheard employees at the register mocking and laughing at me over a very simple, respectful question I had asked about a product tester. I was standing just behind the mini-product section near the register, so they didn't see me, but I heard every word. When they finally noticed I was there, I felt they looked shocked and even nervous -- as if afraid I might make a scene -- because they realized I had been right there and had heard everything myself. To make matters worse, I also noticed employees following me around the store as if I were a thief. Customers should never be treated this way. When I calmly said this behavior was unprofessional, there was no response. Then a manager approached. Instead of investigating or de-escalating, she was sarcastic and smiling, practically pushing me out of the store, saying: "I'm sorry you had this experience, have a great night ma'am. We are not here to be falsely accused." In my opinion, the message was clear: "she already paid, so who cares." False accusation? I was literally standing right there and HEARD everything with my own ears. I usually spend $300-400 per visit -- but that means nothing here. Even if I had spent only $5, every customer deserves respect. I am not a clown, I am not a thief -- I had already paid $250 for my bags, and yet I was treated with mockery and suspicion. I left the store in tears, and honestly, I felt foolish for having spent so much money in a place that treated me this way. Ulta has lost a loyal customer. Learn to treat people with dignity. I never expected this kind of behavior -- it was humiliating, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. Truly shameful. I will never set foot in this store again. Formal Complaint Regarding Poor Customer Service and Mistreatment on June 20, 2025 Dear Ulta Customer Service, I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the way I was treated at your store 40460 Winchester Temecula CA, 92591 location on June 20, 2025, around 2:30 PM. I made a purchase totaling $50.88, which included three purchased items and a birthday gift. Upon returning to my car, I realized one item--a $16 Benefit eyebrow gel--was missing from my bag. I returned to the store immediately to notify the store manager, assuming it was simply a cashier oversight. To my shock, the manager claimed she reviewed the cameras and said all items were placed in the bag. I was then made to feel as if I was lying or had misplaced the item myself, which was insulting and incredibly unprofessional. I even retraced my steps in doubt, but later returned to the store again, only to be handed the missing item by another employee who said the manager had told her to give it to me--without any clear explanation or apology. When I asked to speak to the manager again, she was dismissive, defensive, and gave me attitude. Only when I insisted was I given a half-hearted apology by another manager who said, "I wasn't here, I don't know what happened but we apologize." I felt humiliated, disrespected, and discriminated against. As a Mexican customer, I was left wondering whether this treatment was racially motivated, considering the tone, implication of dishonesty, and lack of basic respect shown to me. Due to this experience, I returned all my items, cut up my store credit card, and will no longer be shopping at your stores. I will also be sharing my experience with my community so they can make informed choices about where they shop. I am requesting a formal investigation into how this situation was handled, and I would like to receive an apology from someone in your corporate leadership who understands what customer service and dignity mean. After 5 mins, I walked up to many workers who advised me that they were just vendors, not one of them offered to get me help. After another 5 mins and no employee to be found and getting very frustrated, an employee from the Salon asked me if I needed any help. I wish I remember her name, she was a little older and name started with an A. She provided such excellent customer service and I appreciated very much. Five minutes later, the manager, Kel, informed me that Ashleigh was now running an hour behind, and I would need to be paired with a different stylist. Got a hair cut for the 1st time here and the girl was super nice, friendly, & actually cut my hair well. The -2 stars is how she left my hair completely wet.... I felt so awkward leaving the store. I've never been to a hair salon where they leave your hair wet? There was an additional charge (I think $20?) just for a blow dry that she didn't mention, but I overheard another lady saying it. I get if theres a charge to curl, straighten, or get a blow out but they can't include a regular blow dry? I would rather her cut my hair dry if that were the case. I highly recommend to get your brows laminated by Alexis or even wax by her. she did so amazing on my appointment on Friday. She walked me through every step in the process of laminating my brows, also how to care for them. I have never felt so confident about my eyebrows now they don't need much attention when doing my full glam. I have my brows appointment in 4 weeks for a clean up.
